Hi SLUCodesys, dwErrorId is a drive specific error number. The drive documentation should be consulted to interpret it. (Note that you should use MC_ReadAxisError to read this error, see https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Basic/Current/SM3_Basic/POUs/Diagnostics/MC_ReadAxisError.html. Accessing the internal variable will result in outdated values if the acis error is not mapped by PDO and is not recommended in general.) uiDriveInterfaceError holds errors of the SoftMotion driver for the drive. It is also an internal variable, not intended for direct access. It is intended for logging, the PLC log will contain the drive interface error, consisting of this number and an error text. My recommendation for handling axis errors in the CODESYS application: 1) Use MC_ReadStatus on the axis to find out whether it is in state Errorstop 2) If in Errorstop, there are two possibilities: an error reported by the drive (MC_ReadAxisError) or an error of the SoftMotion function blocks (output MC_ReadStatus.FBErrorOccured). 3) If there is no drive error, you can use SMC_ReadFBError https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Basic/Current/SM3_Basic/POUs/Diagnostics/FBError/SMC_ReadFBError.html Best regards, Georg

Do you need an 'hours-run' counter? And 1 second resolution is ok? I think you're over-thinking it. (The task time needs to be < 1second) Have a look at the LAD... Hello everyone, I am trying to change dynamically by code the IP address of a Weidmuller controller. So I am basically using IoDrvEthernet library to use UpdateConfiguredIPSettings function but I am getting constantly the 'INVALID_STATE' error. Even though I am following a procedure it should work: * First I added on the config file of codesys the following: [SysSocket] Adapter.0.Name="eth0" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 Adapter.1.Name="eth1" Adapter.1.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 * Secondly I am first disabling the ethernet interface by using Ethernet_0.Enable = FALSE and then executing DED.Reconfigure. Yes it is possible. I did it a lot of times using TeamViewer VPN. Unfortunately, TeamViewer VPN only works on Windows. If the remote PLC is a Codesys runtime running on Windows, you should be able to login directly using TeamViewer VPN if it is installed on the PC/PLC. If it is not Windows based, you can still do it but you need to have a Windows based PC acting as a gateway in the middle. In this case you need to enable IP Forwarding on the Windows remote PC (the gateway) and you need to setup the gateway IP address on the PLC to be the address of the Windows PC. Then you need to add a route on your local PC to point to the gateway PC for Codesys communication. I know it may not be detailed enough but I did not want to make a whole tutorial on how to do it. Bottom line, it is possible. I do it all the time.

I have found a very interesting solution using: IoConfigTaskMap IoConfigConnectorMap IoConfigChannelMap The first is the list of IO tasks. The second is the connector for each IO module in the IOMap. The third is the individual input or output on the IOMap. One of the properties of the connector is another pointer to a connector, which corresponds with the connector of the EtherCAT slave. Through this information, it is possible to understand to which EtherCAT slave an IO connectormap corresponds. I am attaching an FB that allows for the construction of an IO map and finding the pointer to the actual IOs in the IOMap based on the bitoffset. Hello everyone, I've been working on a system which needs an error function, with this purpose I've created a FB programmed in LD, after debugging I run the simulation. It seems that the variable linked to a coil doesn't change the value when the contacts are associated to input variables. When I use internal variables the logic works properly. I don't know if the problem is related to the variables definition or with the logic program. As you can see in the image, I1 and I2 are variables declared on the FB, the rest are input variables. If I force the eStop and Reset signals to TRUE the coil value should change, but it doesn't. However in the second network if I1 is TRUE the coil change to TRUE as it has to be. To sum up, my doubt is why that coil doesn't change its value? I would like someone to shed a light on this. Thanks!

We are working on a project and the customer required 3.5.16 BF4. After working on the project for a few weeks I opened it the next morning and it could not access libraries. IecVarAccess could not be accessed. I checked if windows updated - it did not. So no explanation for why it lost access other than that I shut down the computer for the night. Note that I am using a demo license. I still haven't figured out any reason to purchase a license. So I spent the next hour reinstalling CodeSys. Note that I did NOT uninstall first. After install I waited another 5 minutes for it to open the first time. I clicked File->Open to open the project. Previously I had selected File->Recent Projects - not sure if that makes and difference. But after this process it did open the project and compile it just fine. This is miserable. If this had happened when I went on site to a customer I would have lost hours of work doing the reinstall. Is there a different and quicker fix?

Hello everyone, I have a very simple program for the process, but it's driving me crazy and I can't see the problems I'm left with: Short topological description: Dual Core Berghof controller with softmotion runtime version 3.5.19.30; Two axes with servodrive on canopen bus, clocked distributed from master; Ethercat I/O node; 2 ms ethercat task, 2 ms canopen bus cycle time; I/O objects of the canopen master and canopen drives connected to the ethercat task cycle; Problem 1: Two separate programs each manage their own axis and drive, with separate state machines. A first axis moves primarily in velocity, except having to position itself absolutely at a predetermined point at the end of the job; the second axis, on the other hand, is a paper unwinder that changes, for each job cycle, from actions in absolute, relative, and cam displacement with the master axis. But it gives me a spot problem: in some, the state change results in a drive error, which is unrecoverable except with a reinitialization via SM3_ReinitDrive(). Done a little diagnostics it seems that the FBs return the bDone, before they are completely terminated. I tried doing the machine state exchange not with the bDone bit of the FBs, but with the 'standstill' state of the axis. It didn't seem to change anything. Problem 2: During the use SM3_ReinitDrive() I get the erro in the log: "NetID 0: SDO read error for object 16#607C..." Assuming that the device involved it's one of the two servodrive, (no others device are present in the network), I don't found any object 0x607C in the 'possible object list in/out' of the two drive, and I don't understand where this object can be listed. So any ideas and suggestions regarding these two issues will be very, very welcome. If you need the source project, I am willing to send it.

I've trimmed down the CAA Serial Codesys example to only listen on one port but, when stepping through the Case structure in debug mode, it jumps out of the structure during a specific point in every scan (I'll point it out below after describing the setup and listing the code). I'm using a Pi 4 Model B, and I have an Arduino Nano Every plugged in via USB which is streaming the following serial message at 1 Hz: Time since opening connection: 1 s Time since opening connection: 2 s ...and so on. I'm forcing xStartTest:=TRUE every scan so that I can step into each line and observe what's happening. What I see is that the port parameters are set and the port is opened with no errors, but the code jumps out of the case structure to the last line every time it reaches (and I step into) the iState:=15 line (at the end of the iState:=0 block). So every scan cycle it goes through the block for iState=0 and jumps out at the same spot. I'm a little new to PLC programming so I may be misunderstanding the flow, but shouldn't this case structure keep moving down in the same scan? If it only handles one case per scan, why doesn't the value of iState persist? Thanks! Update: I restarted the Codesys control today and I was then able to see an error for como1.eError of "WRONG_PARAMETER". I tried doing some digging and another post made me think I should add another line to CODESYSControl_User.cfg, so I now have: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile=/dev/ttyACM portnum := COM.SysCom.SYS_COMPORT1 So now when I set .udiPort to 1, I get "NO_ERROR" but I also don't read anything from the port (i.e. szRead = 0 always). If I try setting the port to 0 (which I'm confused about, because I added a COMPORT1 line but the device shows on the Pi as ACM0), I get the "WRONG_PARAMETER" error again. Is there an easier way to troubleshoot the Pi and view what ports the Codesys runtime is actually able to see while the Pi is running?

Dear @gseidel, Thank you for your clarification. I fully agree that the quadratic ramp type may have certain technical advantages. However, the main problem is backward compatibility and consistency across projects. In many automation projects, application developers rely on the fact that creating a new axis object will behave exactly the same way as in previous versions. With SoftMotion V4.18.0.0 and later, if an application developer adds an axis and overlooks the changed default, the motion function blocks behave differently than expected. In particular, since the Jerk value in SM3_Basic function blocks is ineffective in trapezoid ramp type, users are accustomed to leaving this parameter empty in their projects. In many existing projects, this variable has not even been assigned. When the default is changed to quadratic, the Jerk parameter suddenly becomes relevant, which can cause errors or unexpected behaviour in the field. From a user perspective, a default setting should always be the “safe” and “expected” option, while alternative options (like quadratic) can be selected manually if desired. Keeping the default as trapezoid ensures compatibility with existing projects and prevents unexpected issues, while still allowing users to benefit from quadratic ramps if they explicitly choose so. For these reasons, I kindly ask you to reconsider making trapezoid the default again. This would significantly reduce the risk of unexpected behaviour in future projects while still preserving the advantages of the quadratic ramp type for those who actively select it. Launch works, Open project works, Export works, But how do i tell codesys to close itself? I am using V3.5 SP18 Patch 5. I have noticed that when I Create a Boot Application from CODESYS, and upload this to my PLC via a USB stick the AC_Persistence does not work and none of my values that are in my PersistenceChannel are retained. However, if I connect direct to my PLC and I perform a direct download of my CODESYS program, my values that are in my PersistenceChannel are retained and work as they should. This makes me wonder if there are files that are missing when a Boot Application is created. I have tried taking a backup of my configuration files after performing a direct download, which gives me the plclog.zip folder, and appears to have the ac_persistence folder present within the file structure, however when I replace the plclogic.zip with the same folder that was created when I created a Boot Application, it still does not work but I wonder whether this is because the ac_persistence folder isn't stored in the correct location for reading. The .app and .crc files are embedded within the plclogic.zip folder, which obviously when uploading need to be standalone files in the root directory of the USB, so the intention there is clearly to extract the .app and .crc files and put them into the correct location within the USB. I wonder if it could be the same for the ac_persistence folder? I have tried moving it to different locations but none have worked. Has anybody else discovered a fix for this? I know the short-term solution is to do a direct download to the PLC but there are some logistical reasons why this isn't neccesarily the best solution for us.

if you're here because you are making the same mistake as me, I just resolved it. I mistakenly thought I didn't need to write the word attribute in the column labeled attribute. changed this 'symbol' := 'read' to this attribute 'symbol' := 'read' The last two in this clip are still wrong: I recongize this is probably a big "duh". That's ok. I like to fail out loud in hopes it helps someone else from looking silly.

hi! im planning a project on a raspberry with Codesys. For this I'll need a number of relays to control heating and fans, all a max of 24v and about 2a. How would i know if the board / relays i buy will be working with Codesys? Does every hat work or does it need a library/driver? is there a list of drivers/libraries created? as this is a hobby project all tips on a relay board or single boards that works with codesys and not to expensive are very welcome.

This is a known bug in e!Cockpit. See Release notes of V 1.11: 1 e!Cockpit Release Version 1.11 (2022-07) ATTENTION: If a library that uses asynchronous tasks (e.g. WagoAppConfigTool, WagoAppCloud or function modules such as Dali-Master) is dragged into the project, the simulation cannot be started. It is already sufficient to add the library to the project (an FB does not even have to be instantiated). I guess you are using one of these libraries/modules in your project. We e.G. often use PWM modules, these are also affected.

Hi, I have the same problem. However I am using ethernet connection not USB. I can ping the PLC and also connect to it via Wago ethernet settings, but I cannot upload using the Codesys 2.3. My PLC is Wago 750-862. The detailed error is - " connect: Connection refused Write attempt from invalid socket. " Any help would be appreciated.

Hello good morning everyone I would like to ask a question, is it possible to directly connect a device that only contains modbus RTU communication through an R-45 connector, directly to the PC? Or would you need an intermediate device to achieve communication? It would be of great help to me because I cannot achieve communication between the Codesys simulator plc and a Fuji Frenic mini VFD, please help me if anyone has had the same experience. When using the FileOpenSave dialog and using the Visu_FbFileListProvider FB as an In/Output I could not manage to detect the difference of pressing the "Load" button on the dialog vs. pressing the "Cancel" button. In both cases, the selected file is updated if the dialog is closed when checking using the Visu_FbFileListProvider.GetSelectedFileName() command. How can I prevent reading or writing of a file when the "Cancel" button was pressed?
