I want to implement an extended I2C master for Raspberry Pi Control. I was hoping for it to be as easy as creating a library with a FB that extends i2cMaster and associating it with a device following the forge drivers documentation, but I haven't managed to make it work as the driver behaves only as an i2c slave. I'm thinking this is because the forge forum only talks about extending i2c, and the master portion is omitted since most users won't want to add a custom one. I'd like to know if I'm doing something wrong. Is it really possible to make an I2C master extension device? If so, are there public examples we can check out? Any info on this topic will be appreciated.

It seems you have 2 network interfaces. Did you try eth1? Did you already configure the IP address for this interface in Linux? If yes, then maybe undo this. - or only set eth0 in the Nic configuration without anything else (so no IP address, because this is already set in Linux). You could also install and run the CODESYS Control SL Runtime in the Host operating system. This way you should also be able to access the serial port and directly access all ethernet ports. Maybe this is easier?

Hi, I had some issues as well migrating to the new version. What I have learnt: - Have to check all the libraries in the library manager, if they are the proper versions. - Some other parts of the application, maybe an old library referenced by another one can keep the old Ethercat libraries.... Use the "Placeholders" function on the library manager - See if there is a new version available of the slave "devices". Might just have to update them ... I had problems moving from 4.7 to with 4.8, especially with the 2nd adapter for redundancy - some devices failed to initialize properly.... So I have just downgraded those libraries now. P.

Hello guys, I have the following problem with the Codesys visualization (4.6.0) and Codesys V3.5.20.20. I would like to use my own HTML5 elements for my visualization. To do this, I have to select the option “Support client animations and overlay of native elements” in the visualization manager. But with the selection of this option, the visu has a massive loading delay when changing frame content. This happens even if I have not even added HTML5 elements. However, if this option is deactivated, then changing the content of the frames works without any problems, it loads instantly. I have already tried to change various refresh rates but without success. Have any of you experienced this and been able to fix it?

Hi, I tried some different libraries (CmpApp etc.) to find some global variables that I could read out as a variable in the codesys environment. Do any one of you know which libraries are best suited for this, and how I can read it out? My goal is to send messages, warnings etc. to the system that communicates to the PLC. Currently if something goes wrong I need to see the logfiles, or go online with the controller. I think I could save a lot of time if I could read the errors from our user interface that is connected to the PLC by TCP/IP.

Hi pmanuele, while I don't have firsthand experience with the EL7041 and the step motor AS1060, there are two things you can check: If you use an external encoder, please make sure you use the alternative device description calles "EL7041 1Ch. Stepper motor output stage (50V, 5A) Rev24 with external Encoder". The SoftMotion driver will set the feedback type automatically, and use the correct object for the actual position (16#6010:21 instead of 16#6010:20) If you have problems with changing the controller mode, I assume to velocity, please make sure you change the PDO mapping so that the actual velocity (16#6020:33) and set velocity (16#7010:33) are mapped by PDO. Hi @niallel, it is currently not possible to create periodic cams using SMCB.BoundImplicit(). If you want to create a periodic cam which does not start/end with all slaves values equal to zero, then you must specify the boundary conditions explicitly using SMCB.Bound(). When you finished your cam, you can check via CamBuilder.CheckContinuity(), if the cam fulfills the continuity requirements for a periodic cam (see input isPeriodic). But you are right, it should be possible to create periodic cams using implicit boundary conditions. I don't exactly recall where (I think some release notes), but I read the information that this multiple application / sub application feature is to be discontinued. Please, correct me, if I'm not right about this I am a bit sad about that - I was using that feature with more or less success. However I understand the reason behind the change: it introduces huge complexity, especially when dealing with multicore and safety support... AS I understand, it's to be replaced with the new virtual plc architecture, and standard ways for synchronizing / sharing data... So, for now the "Add application" context menu item was removed, but behind the scene it is still supported... Hint: if you still want to experiment with it, might try copy-paste things within the PLCLogic tree...

In case of error while opening the file to read you assume that the file doesn't exist and try to create one. But it could be that the SD card is not ready yet or simply not there. I would try to check first if the SD card is there and accessible. Otherwise with FILE.Create you could end up creating a new directory that is not mapped to the SD card. This would explain the errors even after a reboot, though it doesn't explain the READ_ONLY_CAA error I guess? I would use FILE.DirOpen and FILE.DirList to check if the SD card is there and ready.

I'm programming an HMI for a machine. I want to log all the parameter's changes (used text field for displaying and changing) for particular User levels. Created a Numpad and want to log oldvalue and Newvalue on 'ok' Button press. To retrieve the oldvalue, i check if the dialogue opened is my Numpad, Then I retrieve the dialogue interface via GetDialogInterface(ADR(myNumpad)) --> numpadData.stVariableValue which contain my oldvalue and save it locally. Problem is sometimes i retrieve the data and sometimes not. Also observed when Numpad Dialogue is Opened, VisuDlgUtil_IsDialogOpen returns False in some cycles.Attached you will find my Project. please let me know what went wrong or if there is a better approach to collect old and New Value of a textfield. Hi, sorry for the late reply. After some investigation, the read-only error was being triggered by a FAT-fs filesystem panic on the kernel end, probably caused by unfinished write/reads causing corruption. I found this thread https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Engineering/thread/e637d252b7/ which seems to give a solution of using SysProcess to send the 'sync' command to the console immediately following a write to prevent issues if power is lost or, in my case, if the unit is harshly power cycled. Indeed this seems to resolve the issue bar the worst possible edge cases.

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum, and to programming with CodeSys. I am dealing with IoT device for industry and I should check if a device is able to read/write global variables in an EtherNet/IP Master. Since I do not have an EtherNet/IP PLC, I thought of using CodeSys as a softPLC. I created a program with a set of global variables (GVL) and a task that increments them. I would like to know if I need to enable any options so that the global variables can be read by IoT devices. My device supports Class 2 Class (Explicit Messaging Connection) communication. I have a test application and use Codesys Control for Rasp Pi SL. I made a mistake and updated device from MSL to MC SL, and now if I try to go online with archived version of the project I gett error message that IDs are different between project device and target device. Of course, I can go online if I changed device in the project from SL to MC SL, but I'm not sure that is correct. So I have two questions: 1. What is the actual difference between MC SL device and standard SL device when it comes to raspberry pi 4? 2. What change I need to do on raspberry pi4 side to change device back from MC SL to SL? As far as I remember, the Reconfigure functionality doesn't work for Modbus devices. But... Each Modbus device in your device tree has a name. You can set the property "Enable" of this device to FALSE to stop communicating with it. So if one of your Modbus Slave devices name is "MbSlave1" in the device tree, then in your code you can set the Enable to FALSE to let it stop communicating: MbSlave1.Enable := FALSE; Please let us know if this worked on your controller with your application and your CODESYS version. Which device do you use? Does this have persistent memory (e.g. NVRAM) available? Maybe first ask your PLC vendor about the possibilities and how they advice to use persistent variables? If you have no NVRAM available, CODESYS will store the variables in a file when the device gracefully shuts down. But on an abrupt power failure, this is not possible. If you have no NVRAM and you want to use persistent variables, then consider using a UPS. In this case when the power is lost, the UPS can keep the power on the PLC which then can gracefully shut down. Thank you for the response, The empty softcontainer does not become visible unfortunately, but I think I can get that back to working. I think I'm misunderstanding something. You are pointing to the Softcontainer number and the ticket code, I thought that I needed to fill in the virtual control containers serial code is this a misunderstanding? And if this is indeed the case, how is the link between the server (softcontainer) and the Codesys control docker container made? If I have multiple Codesys docker containers running on the same docker server, how is the correct license distributed to the correct Codesys runtime container?

I have a problem with the CODESYS IO-Link SL software. When I insert a IO link master AL1332 and plug a discrete digital input to a channel it reads only 1 of the 2 available inputs on that channel. Is there anyone who sorted out if the second input is also usable? When we configure the module without the CODESYS IO-Link SL software then the second input on the channel can be used. At the moment we use some channels on a module as IO-link port, and some as discrete IO. It would be very nice if we can use both inputs on a channel with the use of CODESYS IO-Link SL.

Hi, I don't know if I'm in the right place or if it's even possible... I'm looking for a way to address a Profinet device with Record Read and Write from my own PC. I actually only need very few commands to configure our device. This means setting the MAC address and a serial number. We would like to do this from a C# program. Now we are looking for a library or something similar. Since you can do it from Codesys, I thought there might be a DLL or something similar that you could use for this. As I said, we don't want real-time queries of the cyclic data but only record read/write. Does anyone have any helpful hint? Thanks in advance

First make sure the programming laptop and HMI are both on the same subnet. For example if the IP address of the HMI is 192.168.1.125 with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 set your laptop IP to 192.168.1.120 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Make sure the cables are fully connected (the ethernet port on my programming laptop will click once but the cable is not fully seated.) Make sure the HMI is powered on, try pinging the device from a command prompt, if you can't ping the HMI there is a network issue that has to be resolved first.

During the actual PLC run, that is, Assume that the I/O is connected to a physical device and the analog value is updated in real time. Is it possible to use a feature like Codesys’ Debug-Step Over-Step IN? If possible..... How do I process the values of analog values (pressure sensor, temperature, current, etc.) that are being updated in real time? To step over, the ladder must stop at the breakpoint. If that happens, the PLC will actually stop, right??

the magic option is named "Use CurrentVisu variable" activate this option in the Visualization Manager an have a look: https://help.codesys.com/webapp/_visu_obj_manager;product=core_visualization;version=3.5.14.0 if your button is pressed, "feed" the string varable VisuElems.CurrentVisu := 'visu1'; with the correct name of the depending visu. alternative: place a frame element at a empty main visu, konfigure all visus to be shown by this frame. With setting the switching variable of the frame to the index value of the depending visu, it will switch to it. Advantage: the visu names are not hardcoded as string in the ladder lodgic. Good luck! Hint: If you have multiple VisuClients(Target, WebVisu,...) all will show the same visu. Independent switching is much more difficult, but there is a example from codesys.
