Post by otdeveloper on IEC 61499 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
It is being worked on by many companies and its even-driven function blocks seem like a natural evolution of the object oriented industrial programming I have seen Gary Pratt (author of the Book of CODESYS and much more) so expertly implement and explain. I would expect CODESYS to have this front and center on their sights and, if they do not, I would be very interested in learning why.

IEC 61499 is probably something more complex than what you have correctly said so the prospects are interesting but we cannot ignore that it came out almost 20 years ago and has not won many hearts. I started to explore this world with a PLCnext controller because I love these devices based on RT Linux and Codesys is somehow usable with them but I have made little progress and I feel like inside a nutshell in the middle of the sea ;-) Gary's voluminous and precious book is always on my desk...

Post by nano on Is there any support for I2C on Raspberry Pi? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
hello jdj this question can be answered well with a pretty good forge documentation: https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/ u r also able to create in codesys directly an iec-code by using the i2c-interface as driver using the codesys ide and st depending on the stepperdriver, used in yΓΆur hat, its possible that an driver is already available in the device-repository. which mcp-device is used on the hat?

Post by camilloo on Control for Linux SL on Ubuntu Core CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
(dhumphries) I followed your advice and tried it on Ubuntu Server. Was a good choice. Your material was also very helpful :). Thanks for Your help! I no longer have problems connecting to Ubuntu. However, I still cannot install Virtual PLC. I'm currently getting a missing path message: "C:\Program Files\CODESYS 3.5.19.60\CODESYS\CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux SL\Delivery\virtuallinux\VirtualControlAPI.py." It looks as the package: "CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux SL" was not installed. But, there isn't one in CODESYS Store or I'm doing something incorrectly.

Post by aniket-b on Multiple function blocks are not executing at the same time in ladder logic CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have two ethernet Ip drives and created Function Blocks for different motions tasks. I am using same FB for both the drives. When I try to execute the relative move start command on FB for both the drives it is not working. However, if I add 1ms second delay between the execution of each drive it is working. Also when I change the rung order it is working for the first drive in the rung. what could be the wrong here?

Post by stuartjr on Disabling forcing of specific variables CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Is there a way that I can create a variable in a GVL that I can control with logic but a user can not put a force on this variable. I have looked at the access rights but this seems to only limit editing the GVL or POU. This variable will only be assigned a value in one POU but it will be used throughout many other POUs.

Post by wollvieh on Problem while updating to new runtime 4.11.0.0 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
okay, no ideas. So i made a new fresh image for the raspberry, so far,so good. Licensing the new image was no problem. And, after having trouble while read write files on the raspberry pi, i found the solution for these file operations with the Variable ForceIecFilePath in the CODESYSControl.cfg file. Some people had that issue discussed in that thread : https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Deutsch/thread/d2df08e587/

Post by ara32 on CODESYS 4 Linux: CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello! I managed to correctly launch CODESYS Developer Studio 3.5.17, almost all functionality works. The only issue remaining is that when connecting to a device and obtaining its public key, the NCryptEncrypt function is called, which is not fully implemented in the DLL source code, resulting in the connection not being established. Currently, the code of this function in the Wine repository looks like this: SECURITY_STATUS WINAPI NCryptEncrypt(NCRYPT_KEY_HANDLE key, BYTE *input, DWORD insize, void *padding, BYTE *output, DWORD outsize, DWORD *result, DWORD flags) { struct object *key_object = (struct object *)key; TRACE("(%#Ix, %p, %lu, %p, %p, %lu, %p, %#lx)\n", key, input, insize, padding, output, outsize, result, flags); if (flags & ~(NCRYPT_NO_PADDING_FLAG | NCRYPT_PAD_OAEP_FLAG | NCRYPT_PAD_PKCS1_FLAG | NCRYPT_SILENT_FLAG)) { FIXME("Flags %lx not supported\n", flags); return NTE_BAD_FLAGS; } if (flags & NCRYPT_NO_PADDING_FLAG || flags & NCRYPT_PAD_OAEP_FLAG) { FIXME("No padding and oaep padding not supported\n"); return NTE_NOT_SUPPORTED; } if (key_object->type != KEY) return NTE_INVALID_HANDLE; return map_ntstatus(BCryptEncrypt(key_object->key.bcrypt_key, input, insize, padding, NULL, 0, output, outsize, result, flags)); } The program crashes due to the NCRYPT_PAD_OAEP_FLAG flag. I'm not proficient in C++, but I attempted to add handling myself, and here's the result: SECURITY_STATUS WINAPI NCryptEncrypt(NCRYPT_KEY_HANDLE key, BYTE *input, DWORD insize, void *padding, BYTE *output, DWORD outsize, DWORD *result, DWORD flags) { struct object *key_object = (struct object *)key; TRACE("(%#Ix, %p, %lu, %p, %p, %lu, %p, %#lx)\n", key, input, insize, padding, output, outsize, result, flags); if (flags & ~(NCRYPT_NO_PADDING_FLAG | NCRYPT_PAD_OAEP_FLAG | NCRYPT_PAD_PKCS1_FLAG | NCRYPT_SILENT_FLAG)) { FIXME("Flags %lx not supported\n", flags); return NTE_BAD_FLAGS; } if (flags & NCRYPT_NO_PADDING_FLAG) { FIXME("No padding not supported\n"); return NTE_NOT_SUPPORTED; } BCRYPT_OAEP_PADDING_INFO oaepInfo = { 0 }; oaepInfo.pszAlgId = BCRYPT_SHA1_ALGORITHM; NTSTATUS status = BCryptEncrypt(key_object->key.bcrypt_key, input, insize, &oaepInfo, NULL, 0, output, outsize, result, flags); if (key_object->type != KEY) return NTE_INVALID_HANDLE; return map_ntstatus(BCryptEncrypt(key_object->key.bcrypt_key, input, insize, padding, NULL, 0, output, outsize, result, flags)); } Now, when calling the connection, it crashes with the error "bcrypt:BCryptEncrypt flags 0x4 not implemented." Can anyone help with enhancing this functionality or at least point me in the right direction?

Post by mimodia1 on I do not have any reedings in RUN MODE from MPU6050........ CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Good morning, mecke96. Exactly the same thing happens to me, although I have not done the part of executing a .py file. It only reads the temperature and the counter, but the other values are zero as in your image "no readings". I have tested the MPU6050 device on an Arduino and it works. Could you tell me if you solved it?

Post by food on Beaglebone Black OPC-UA Server CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Man, this was a long time ago. I think the problem probably stemmed from not loading the certificates from the client and the server on the server and client respectively in the correct manner. I believe I ended up getting around it just by removing all security on the server. In the end we did not move forward with that architecture so I never had to actually fix it.

Post by valenting on Problem with Licenced Software Metrics CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, When I try to install my codesys program with the new application-based licensing, I have an error "it exceeds the scope of the license agreement. See Device > Licensed Software Metrics" In the Licensed Software Metrics section, I see a code size < 3MB and less than 2700 variables in visualiaztions. I'm using a license "Control Basic L" with "Codesys Visualization L" option, so it should be enough with these metrics. What can I do ?

Post by gseidel on Discontinuity of A/B/C axis movement. CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi jonasz, you already solved it, I'm answering here for the sake of others with a similar question. You can provide the slope of the A/B/C axis with the U/V/W word. See example 3 here: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20SoftMotion/_sm_cnc_din66025_additional_axis.html If you don't want to change the G-Code, the function block SMC_RecomputeABCSlopes can compute the slopes automatically. https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_CNC/Current/SM_CNC_POUs/SoftMotion-CNC/SoftMotion-Function-Blocks/SMC_RecomputeABCSlopes.html Best regards, Georg

Post by arcadium on TargetVisu element stacking on top of each other CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I'm new here so if I do something wrong please bare with me. I am using raspberry pi touchscreen made by comfile (CPi-C070WR4C). I also have a window 11 pc where I would like to have a second visualisation, but when I run a TargetVisu with it, all elements of the visualisation end up in the top left corner stacked on top of each other. I have same results running targetVisu on my laptop. Maybe someone had same issues and know the solution? Simas

Post by s1mon on Two OneWireMaster on one Raspberry PI 5 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
All Sensors from the OneWire Master are assigned already to a seperate task with low prio (26) that runs with 1s cycle time. My EtherCat Task is running with Prio 1. It all works fine, until I adjust the CODESYScontrol.cfg or the CODESYScontrol_Usr.cfg files so that it supports a 2nd OneWire Master in the Codeys Runtime. If I change something in this config file and reboot my EtherCat Master stops working.

Post by mizi on SM_Drive_Virtual CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi I recently started learning Codesys SoftMotion. At first, I mainly used YouTube videos. I stopped at two videos where the same problem keeps recurring. fbReadPos( Axis := X_Axis, Enable := TRUE, Position => gAxes.lrActualPos); <- axis cannot move I checked the entire code line by line. Zero errors. GPT spits out nonsense, throwing up increasingly worse errors. And when I copy its code, it says the code is wrong and gets stuck in a loop of its own stupidity. Can anyone explain why it doesn't work? Link to the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYa2HvYZgbM&list=PLsEhEcYjG7na0OveU7cqFXBx7ATyGGn0A&index=3

Hi We have picked up an issue OSCAT_BASIC.Scale_r function call not working in the old lad and FBD version 4.60. Gives no output on the function call. When we convert this to LAD2 it works. As can be see by the two screenshot in normal LD not working in LAD2 it works. Please confirm if this is an issue with Oscat or with LAD in 3.5.21sp3, is there an workaround. Regards Shaun

Post by nxbp on About Compatibility CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Let's say I have a CODESYS controller (PLC) with a runtime version around 3.5.19. If I use development software version 3.5.21.40 or a later version that will be released in the future for programming, could there be any problems or malfunctions in the controller's program execution or in the execution of the new, updated function blocks from the newer software? I mostly work with servo-based motion applications, so please keep that in mind when answering, and provide a detailed answer so I don't have to email you again about this topic.

Post by bertus on Can't get SMC_SmoothPath to work CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello all, I am trying to run a XY trajectory from a static G-Code file. Everything works except the smoothing/blending of the corners. My setup: Codesys v3.5sp18 Raspberry Pi 4 CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL, using demo license. Zero axes (only using the interpolator). The order of processing for my decoding is: SMC_NCDecoder (ok) SMC_SmoothMerge (ok) SMC_SmoothPath (not ok) SMC_LimitDynamics SMC_CheckVelocities I created following instances and buffers: fbNCDecoder: SMC_NCDecoder; fbSmoothMerge: SMC_SmoothMerge; fbSmoothPath: SMC_SmoothPath; fbLimitDynamics: SMC_LimitDynamics; fbCheckVelocities: SMC_CheckVelocities; aNCDecoderBuffer: ARRAY[0..49] OF SMC_GeoInfo; // buffer stage 1 (fbNCDecoder) aSmoothMergeBuffer: ARRAY[0..19] OF SMC_GeoInfo; // buffer stage 2 (fbSmoothMerge) aSmoothPathBuffer: ARRAY[0..99] OF SMC_GeoInfo; // buffer stage 3 (fbSmoothPath) aLimitDynamicsBuffer: ARRAY[0..39] OF SMC_GeoInfo; // buffer stage 4 (fbLimitDynamics) My original G-Code file has a lot of short G1 elements but this example, I reduced it to a simple square: N000 G51 D10 N010 G38 O1 N020 G00 X0 Y0 F50 E1000 E-1000 N030 G01 X0 Y-37.5 N040 G01 X-75 Y-37.5 N050 G01 X-75 Y37.5 N060 G01 X0 Y37.5 N070 G01 X0 Y0 N080 G50 N090 G39 O1 In the Codesys CNC settings, I have these instances activated: SMC_SmoothMerge SMC_SmoothPath SMC_LimitDynamics SMC_CheckVelocities And with those settings (and the path-preprocessing button actived), the G-Code viewer shows the square with nicely blended corners (see attached picture). However, when running it on the PLC, it doesn't blend the corners at all. Below the relevant part of my code. The process is started with bDecode. // stage 1: decoding G-code fbNCDecoder( ncprog := square, bExecute:= bDecode, bAbort:= NOT bDecode, nSizeOutQueue := SIZEOF(aNCDecoderBuffer), pbyBufferOutQueue := ADR(aNCDecoderBuffer) ); // stage 2: merge short linear segments fbSmoothMerge( bExecute := bDecode, poqDataIn := fbNCDecoder.poqDataOut, nSizeOutQueue := SIZEOF(aSmoothMergeBuffer), pbyBufferOutQueue := ADR(aSmoothMergeBuffer), piMaxDifference := PI_MAX_DIFFERENCE, usiMaxDegree := 5, wFeatureFlag := 1, wAdditionalParamNumber := 0, dMinimumCurvatureRadius := D_MIN_CURVATURE_RADIUS ); // stage 3: smooth corners fbSmoothPath( bExecute := bDecode, bAbort := NOT bDecode, poqDataIn := fbSmoothMerge.poqDataOut, eMode := SMC_SMOOTHPATHMODE.SP_SPLINE5_MIN_CURVATURE, eAddAxMode := SMC_SMOOTHPATHADDAXMODE.SPAA_NONE, nSizeOutQueue := SIZEOF(aSmoothPathBuffer), pbyBufferOutQueue := ADR(aSmoothPathBuffer), dAngleTol := D_ANGLE_TOL, bSymmetricalDistances := TRUE, bImprovedSymmetricCuts := TRUE ); // stage 4: keep acc/dec and velocity within limits fbLimitDynamics( bExecute := bDecode, bAbort := NOT bDecode, poqDataIn := fbSmoothPath.poqDataOut, wAxis := 16#07, nSizeOutQueue := SIZEOF(aLimitDynamicsBuffer), pbyBufferOutQueue := ADR(aLimitDynamicsBuffer), bIncludePathSettings := TRUE, dMaxVel := 2500, dMaxAccDec := 10000 ); // stage 5: check the path speed fbCheckVelocities( bExecute := bDecode, bAbort := NOT bDecode, poqDataIn := fbLimitDynamics.poqDataOut, dAngleTol := D_ANGLE_TOL); pathQueue := fbCheckVelocities.poqDataOut; // repeat until MaxDuration ... Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is smooth path supposed to work at all when using a demo license? Thanks.

Post by timvh on Detect "Cancel" Press in FileOpenSave Dialog CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Maybe there is a better way, but a long time ago I created a test application that worked like this: With a button I opened the dialog and I added a "Input configuration - OnDialogClosed" "Execute ST-Code" action to this same button which called the following Function when the dialog was closed: F_OnFileDialogClosed(pClientData); Below this Function which handled the result: // This function is called from the visualization when the dialog is closed. FUNCTION F_OnFileDialogClosed : BOOL VAR_INPUT pClientData : POINTER TO VisuElems.VisuStructClientData; END_VAR VAR dialogMan : VisuElems.IDialogManager; FileOpenCloseDialog : VisuElems.IVisualisationDialog; result : VisuElems.Visu_DialogResult; _sFileName : STRING(255); END_VAR // the DialogManager is provided via the implicitly available VisuManager dialogMan := VisuElems.g_VisuManager.GetDialogManager(); IF dialogMan <> 0 AND pClientData <> 0 THEN FileOpenCloseDialog := dialogMan.GetDialog('VisuDialogs.FileOpenSave'); // gets the FileOpenSave dialog IF FileOpenCloseDialog <> 0 THEN result := FileOpenCloseDialog.GetResult(); // gets the result (OK, Cancel) of the dialog IF result = VisuElems.Visu_DialogResult.OK THEN // Original code gvlFile.FileListProvider(); _sFileName := CONCAT(gvlFile.FileListProvider._stDirectory, gvlFile.FileListProvider.stFile); // do something with this file name... Post by andrax on CodeSys Raspberry pi I2C driver not found CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Communication with the ADS1115 is actually simple. 1. write config 2. write address pointer 3. read conversation register The ADS1115 works like a multiplexer. This means that you do this individually for each channel that you want to read. e.g: Channel 1: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 2: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 3: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 4: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register then you start again from the beginning You can also omit individual channels or read only one. It doesn't matter. I have written the driver so that I can also use it on the TCA9548. The driver is from Stefan Dreyer. In your case, the driver works and communication with the ADS1115 is running. As you can see, the cfgWrong:=FALSE If you could not write or read data, cfgWrong:=TRUE; This means that either something is wrong with your ADS1115 or you have connected something incorrectly. Question: what voltage do you want to measure?
