Hi, I am running Codesys Runtime by purchasing 'Codesys control for raspberry pi MC SL', I am trying to use the Variables from my GVL's. Few of the variables used as a Pushbutton form the Visualization. These 'BOOL' Variable getting unlatched automatically even though there is no write function in the Overall project. All of them are 'Read' functions, at the same time few other BOOL variable behaviors are seems to be fine. I have tried, clean all and download, serval time restarted the hardware. Happy to share any any information. Your input to resolve this issue would be highly appriciated. Version Details: codesyscontrol 4.8.0.0, armhf codesyscontrol based on SDK 3.5.19.0

This... is not very practical for me - as I have a bunch of different classes - it's just doesn't seems to be very practical to define a NULL for each of them... Something like this I use in parameter definitions. For example: VAR_INPUT refVFD_Drive : REFERENCE TO FB_VFD_Drive := GVL_DUMMY.Dummy_VFD; END_VAR I use this to prepare objects for code I don't control: Typycally visualizations - had many troubles with references set on the fly, right before opening a corresponding visualization... And yes, the instance in GVL_Dummy reports itself as "Fake", so it does not influence the actual application at all. Actually this way I could invalidate a reference, just to set it to a "Dummy" instance.

I'm having trouble finding clear answers on this. I'm looking for a way to make a Codesys project password protected so that if the project is distributed it can be used to log into a controller to view and debug logic. At this same time I want to prevent the project from being saved as well as edits being downloaded to the controller. Basically I want to make a whole project view-only. What is the beat way to achieve this? I have had minor success with access rights, which solves the problem with trying to login if the project doesn't match what is in the controller. However with this solution, edits can still be made and saved, possibly corrupting the core project, preventing future logins. Any suggestions?

Update: We managed to avoid the warnings by changing the order of initialization by adding an attribute to the GVL with the variables. {attribute 'global_init_slot' := '49989'} The variables are initialized right before the regular GVLs (default GVL slot 49990). Note to Codesys: I see the problem, Codesys needs to initialize the CNC objects before the GVLs so they can be used in the GVL. But then you can't use variables from GVLs in CNC programs. Maybe you could disable the warning in your generated CNC objects? At least a note for a workaround would have been nice.

We made a ladder code to control a process, and it works well, but we want some variables to remain stored even when the controller is turned off. We tried to use retain variables, but at the time of loading the program, when we went offline from the controller, the program was deleted, it did not remain in the controller, and in the same way if we turned off the controller. In addition to this, when we tried to program it again, the program would not stay loaded and began to present errors with the opc-ua communication. What could be causing this problem? How can we maintain the values of the variables without damaging the program or affecting the controller? thank you

thank you very much! I found the generate_code methode, but struggled with the primary and active_application. With this expample I will be able to play around. If the code generation takes a minute or more I often switch to other programs and don't notify the process is finished. So now I'll get an alert and will switch back immediately. My next little project will be, to beep different if there are errors and a seperate script to do the download incl. the user management data base without stopping at the dialogs asking for onlinechange/complete download and overwriting an existing database and as goody, play a beep/sound again.

Hi, Is it possible to have a MC_PositionProfile that runs continuously again and again without stopping the motor and starting again. I have a profile that contains about 50 steps that I want to repeat. At the end of each run the motor comes to a stop before the next one starts. My code checks for Done, then resets the Execute to False before setting Execute to True to run again, and I think this is causing the motor to go to standstill before starting again. There doesn't seem to be a BufferMode option like with MC_MoveAbsolute. Is it possible to do this? Many thanks,

Hello, I am trying to control shift registers 74HC596 and 74HC165 via Raspberry PI with SPI interface. So far I did it with a Microcontroller and now I wanna upgrade my Projekt with Raspberry Pi and Codesys Software to be more flexible. I tried to adapt PiFace Function Block to just send or recive a 8 bit via SPI interface of the my Raspberry Pi. With following code (see attached screenshots) * PLC_PRG * PiFaceDigital * PiFaceDigital.write8 * PiFaceDigital.read8 I have a signal at SCK and MOSI pin of the PI, so far so good. But I really struggle with the unterstanding of the code. Is there some detailed description of each line of code? Or is there somebody in the community who can explain each line of code? Or is there a more simple way to send / recive 8 bit via SPI? Manuel

Hi A SINT is a short (signed) integer. It is already only 1 byte - so you should have no problem casting it to a byte like so: bMyByte := TO_BYTE(sintMyShortInt); If you have a regular INT you want to put in 2 bytes - there are a lot of ways you can do this. A Union is certainly one of them. You could have a union with 2 memebers: An array of 2 bytes as one member, and an integer value as another member. Another way would be to look at MEMCPY to put the value into your CAN-message. .. or create a function to take your input value as input, and giving you 2 individual bytes as output. Hi, I have a XY system and use a CNC file to move it. Everything works OK, except for the following: when CNC execution starts, the system rushes at high speed to (X=0, Y=0) point, and only then goes to the first line of the CNC file. If one of the axes is near 0, the system jumps and immediately stops with an error. In the CNC file settings (screenshot attached) I specified low default values for speed/acceleration and a start position different from 0,0 - but all that is ignored. Any idea how to avoid that move to 0,0 ? Thanks.

Hi k2saki, I would recommend to have a look at SMC_SmoothMerge, followed by SMC_SmoothPath. Second, how Can i sort out this data to use it in my program? I followed a youtube tutorial which gave me the attached result, which works. But I need some other smart way of doing this when the object gets even more data in it. Any help is very appreciated :)

We've been experiencing an issue through SP18, SP19 and now SP20 where the Persistence Variables do not retain if we upload our program via a Boot Application. If we use the exact same program, and perform a Direct Upload via the Laptop and Ethernet connection, the Persistence Variables work exactly as expected. I have submitted 2 bug support tickets but I haven't had a response back from Codesys. Has anybody experienced the same issues and discovered a workaround? We have a requirement to utilise the Boot Application method because of logistical restrictions of being able to get out to every site, so at the moment it's a bit restriction.

ABB Automation Builder v2.5.0.22 Premium CodeSys 2.3.9.62 Running on Win 10 VM x64 Goal: I have an EtherCAT topology issue which normally a "Scan for devices.." on the EtherCAT master would shed some light on. Issue: Upon trying such I get a "No gateway selected" error. Question: How might I point the the "scanner" at a gateway? What is working: Gateway is running in system tray. I can go online to PLC. A scan from the "Diagnostics live" tab of the EtherCAT master gives slave status. What I have tried: Restarting gateway in system tray. Exiting system tray gateway and reloading it. Turning off firewall. Contacting ABB support multiple times. Any help appreciated.

Hi Guys, I'm new to CODESYS on the pi and I'm struggling to get it working. My issue is that the runtime keeps stopping after approximately 15 seconds. I have installed the runtime package 4.11.0.0 on the pi, trying on both a 64 bit and 32 bit OS. Looking at old forums it all references the 4B and the fact they used 32 bit Debian bullseye (the last version of raspberry pi os) however the pi 5 doesn't offer this version when I try select it in the imager. Has anyone managed to get running using the pi 5? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam

4.11 appears to solve the problem. Thanks for your help. I had first installed the 64-bit version of RPiOS, but looking at various posts and the product's page on the store which only lists 32-bit compatibility, I downgraded to the 32-bit version. I did this before trying 4.11, and it did not solve the problem. Thus my working system is 32-bit, and I am wondering if I can go back to 64-bit or not. An 64-bit OS is not listed as compatible on the store's web page, but when installing there actually is a 64-bit version listed (automatically chosen when installing on 64-bit, but otherwise greyed out). Is 64-bit supported and the website is out-of-date, or is that some kind of work-in-progress?

Hi can you give more details? Are you talking about a danfoss? wich model? Can post the configuration of channel' I used, on the past, serial modbus with danfoss fc280 I remember ((id x 10)-1) I remember that you couldn't use continuous reading/writing of the directors but you had to use them one at a time. it seemed that reading empty registers (caused by x10) was not accepted by danfoss. So I had created a scan that used just one register, then the next etc etc with a timed interval. But this was for the serial, I don't know if it's the same thing with ethernet. I currently use Ethernet TCP/IP interface with FC280.

I just installed codesys runtime on a raspberry pi Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz (Compute Module 4) I am running on Codesys control for raspberry pi 64 SL ver 4.13.0 and I keep getting a crash after about five to ten minutes. This program was running fine on a 32bit system with runtime 4.8 previously but they upgraded the panel PC cause it got smashed. Looking at the logs I see this error "ERROR: GetNetLinkSockAndInfoByMac(): could not open netlink socket: Too many open files" at the time of crash. I do have a UDP socket open for a serial to ethernet adapter and im wondering if maybe its opening a bunch of sockets and while receiving messages, Im not sending anything to the device only receiving. Hi everyone, I'm working on a CODESYS-based project running on a Weintek cMT2078X HMI with a built-in CODESYS runtime. The system communicates with multiple Modbus RTU slave devices, arranged in a cascade. The number of connected units can vary between 2 and 8, depending on the installation. Each slave has 17 Modbus channels, which are polled cyclically every 5 seconds. The issue is that when fewer devices are physically connected (e.g. only 3 out of 8), the Modbus master still attempts to communicate with all configured slaves. This leads to massive delays due to timeouts (currently 200ms per channel). For one disconnected device, that’s: 17 × 200ms = 3.4 seconds of delay per polling cycle, and this quickly multiplies with each additional missing slave. This behavior significantly degrades the system's performance and responsiveness. We attempted a workaround where we tried to trigger polling based on a variable in the PLC program, but this caused instability and even led to hardware hangs/freezes on the cMT2078X – likely due to clashes in how the Modbus polling engine and program logic interact at runtime. My main questions are: Is there a way in CODESYS to dynamically enable/disable Modbus slave devices at runtime, using a BOOL or INT variable (e.g. indicating number of active slaves)? Can devices or channels be conditionally polled or temporarily disabled without removing them from the device tree? Are there any best practices or examples for handling variable numbers of Modbus slaves in scalable systems like this? Would splitting communication across tasks or interfaces help reduce the impact of timeouts? Any advice, documentation references, or architectural suggestions would be extremely helpful.
