I have just upgraded my laptop which has a high res display 2560x1600 and I have to have scaling switch on at 150% but everything looks blurry and not crisp, It seems CodeSys IDE is the only software on my system to look this bad, if I switch to 100% it's crisp but way to small. From a bit of research this could be due to the use of old windows forms or something? I have found a temp workaround that sort of works but not great. You have to run CodeSys in compatibility mode and adjust the DPI settings, this works ok and the editor is clear and crisp again but the actual tool bars are small like running at 100% Anyone got any tips for running CodeSys on high res displays with scaling?

Hello. I am using codesys 3.5. I would like to know if it is possible to set a variable to an output without declaring in. I have defined a STRUCT and within this struct I have a Struct for inputs called I and a struct for outputs called O. I have declared a variable of the type of this Struct, I would like to set or alias the value in this variable to an input/output value of an IO block that has a module on the ethernet tree. Is it possible to copy the contents of %IW0 -> STRUCT.I ? The size of both of these is 2 bytes. I understand that I can declare a variable with the input like Input01 AT %IX0.0 : BOOL; However how can I make STRUCT.I.D00 AT %IX0.0? Is this possible? Thanks

I got this working using OPC UA. In the logic application I just added a Symbol Configuration. In the HMI application I added a Data Sources Manager and OPC UA Data Source. The one thing I don't like is the way the tags end up being named in the HMI application. In the logic application I have a program named PLC_PRG. It has a variable named testDINT. In the logic application the name I get for this variable is DeviceSet.CODESYS_Control_Win_V3_x64.Resources.Logic.Programs.PLC_PRG.testDINT. This is very long and looks like it could change if I used this on a different device type. Any ideas how I could get this name shortened down to just PLC_PRG.testDINT like it is on the Logic application?

Hello, Thank you for your answer. I'm afraid I was not clear on what I was trying to achieve. I'm trying to change parameters and command axes from inside a function block and the first thing that came to my mind was pass both the EtherCAT slave and axis to the function block (as image attached). But, I believe it's worse than just pass directly the EtherCAT slave address to the function block (is it???). However I was wondering if there was a way to get the EtherCAT address directly from the axis, so I don't need to pass the EtherCAT slave nor the EtherCAT address to the function block. According to the documentation: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT956_Modbus You need to create a Channel to read 2 registers from address 143 to get the lattitude. It doesn't specify if you need to read it as a Holding Register or as an Input Register. You could try both. So in the Teltonika router, you need to enable it as being a Modbus Server. Then in CODESYS add an Ethernet Adapter, then a Modbus Client (Master) and to the Client (Master) add the Modbus Server (Slave). Set the IP address and add the Channel. The please consider that CODESYS doesn't update any variables when they are not used in the application. In the I/O mapping tab of your I/O configuration, you can set the "Always update" to enabled.

Hi In the POU section of my project I have created a Fan function block and defined an alarm group template for this FB with one alarm (Motor fault). In the PLC program I define two instances of the fan function block. When going to the alarm configuration and pressing "Create or update alarm instances", I get two alarms listed. So far so good. However, when I start my program and check the alarm table in the visualization I only see one alarm, even if both are active. Am I doing something wrong, or is it not possible to define alarms on a function block level and get one set of alarms per instance of the function block?

I just found this and I am getting a value larger than 16 bit, around 81000 something. I am reading a 5 volt value and I am using level shifters for the i2c bus. This is how I have the channel configured: ADS1115.usiAddress := 16#48; ADS1115.ChannelConfigs[0].Active := TRUE; ADS1115.ChannelConfigs[0].PGA := FSR_6144mV; ADS1115.ChannelConfigs[0].InputMux := Single_0; RawAnalogValue := ADS1115.Channels[0].Value; It looks like every value is a multiple of 3. Any idea where to look to fix this? I think i found what I want to change in UpdateChannels Channels[FChannelNo].Value := INT_TO_REAL(WORD_TO_INT(LValue) * GetFullScaleRange(ChannelConfigs[FChannelNo].PGA)) / 2048.0; I try to edit it but I can't, sorry if this is a basic question, I am new to CODESYS.

Hi All, I have problem with ModbusFB.ClientSerial. I'm using 4 different port for Modbus communication. After some time of running program ClientSerial stops to receive data to reply buffer and all request finish with Reply Timeout. The Device sent reply correctly,that it is visible on oscilloscope and it is possible to see that data( reply )are in the device. If the usbtty device is read over external app. then it is possible to see all data which were not taken by ModbusFB.ClientSerial. The stack does not overflow or something , program runs correctly forward and no exceptions or something. The main problem it is that when the error occur than it is not possible to reset port or something or maybe i'm doing it wrong way. please help me with this issue. Win+R > services.msc > Look in the list CODESYS Control Win V3 x64 Gateway OR CODESYS Gateway V3 Hook up the M12 code D into the ETH port, supply the controller, it should apperars to you. Make sure when you try to connect with the controller, the target of your project has to match with the controller. Otherwise, click on the device in the devices tree > Communications Settings tab > Device > Options > And disable "Filter Network Scans by Target ID". Good luck.

Hi, this is a bug in CODESYS Softmotion. Due to this bug the size is limited to a maximum of 32767 elements. However, we recommend to use way smaller buffer sizes. You could use a small buffer (it should be big enough so that it does not run empty when the interpolator processes the elements). In the beginning you fill the buffer in PLC_PRG until it is full. Afterwards, you start the interpolator. The interpolator processes the elements and removes them as soon as it travels past them. In PLC_PRG you check whether new elements can be stored in the buffer (NOT QUEUE.bFull). If the buffer has space, you generate the next elements and add them to the buffer (SMC_AppendObj()). This is a phenomenon that I have seen myself and with others. Texas instruments wrote an application note with this same issue. They noted with Codesys 3.5.19.10, that selecting CPU 1 as the EtherCAT task showed CPU spiking improvements over the performance of cores 0, 2, and 3. It appears to be linked to EtherCAT, are you configuring for use with distributed clocks? If so, I recommend choosing the 'Based on Input Reference' option. If anybody finds this in the future, I managed to do it like this: scalingValue := EncoderPulseCountPerRev / ABS(AxisName.fScaleFactor); No need to use MC_ReadParameter as I am able to read this value directly from the axis object. Using an absolute value of the fScaleFactor is there in case the axis is set as inverted, in which case it would be a negative value. I was not able to figure out how to get EncoderPulseCountPerRev programatically, but since all my servos use an encoder with pulse count per revolution of 16#800000, the final equation looks like this: scalingValue := 16#800000 / ABS(AxisName.fScaleFactor);

I'm beta-testing a new EtherCAT drive for a rotary (modulo) axis in a system where the encoder resolution is 81920000 counts per rotation. If I enter this in the SoftMotion Scaling/Mapping tab for "increments <=> motor turns", I get the error below on the Commissioning tab. Is SM unable to handle a high-resolution encoder? The bus cycle is currently set to the default of 4 msec (Control Win V3 x64), although I plan to reduce that to reduce latency, possibly by switching to the realtime (RT) master. Is SoftMotion incompatible with high-resolution encoders? SMC_CGR_INVALID_POSPERIOD Invalid modulo period (<= 0 or greater than half the bus bandwidth)

VarAccGetAddress does not return the correct address for TYPE_ARRAY or TYPE_USERDEF. When you use VarAccGetNode, it returns a proper IBaseTreeNode if you provide the full path of an array element or structure element, and it even provides the correct data type. The problem is that with TYPE_ARRAY, it returns the start address of the array rather than the indexed element. With TYPE_USERDEF, it only returns the offset of the element instead of the actual address. This causes many issues with nested structures or arrays of structures, since it requires manually calculating the address based on the parent IBaseTreeNode. See attached image and example.
