ENG For some reason, I can't bind a variable to the data parameter. Also, why does only the sdo_read4 function work for me? I also can't write through sdo_write4. I can only view the received values via sdo_read4. Please help me with this task. Moreover, I tried to write the values through sdo write 4 and for a while the data stopped being written and I overwritten it manually and sdo read4 started working again and at the same time they do not want to work in the main task. Hello, I would like to implement RS232 communication into CODESYS Control RTE V3. I was writing the program testing it on CODESYS Control Win V3, where it worked fine. When I changed it to RTE, the communication was on, but I cannot send the data between PLC and scale - there is no or little response from scale - mostly one time receive and that is it. On Win V3 it was working fine. I read that I am supposed to configure CODESYSControl file for a proper communication using RTE, but even after that I can not get a stable and working communication. I am attaching my CODESYSControl and CODESYSControlUser data below, as well as I am sending the code from communication function. The communication should be through COM1 port of PC. Are you suggesting that I should: Use the Test Manager GUI to script the logic with its internal scripting language? Or is there a way to launch the Test Manager in headless/scripted mode, while still being able to control things via Python? If there's a supported way to automate tests with the Test Manager using scripting, especially from pipelines or headless environments, I’d really appreciate any pointers or example workflows. Hi SLUCodesys, dwErrorId is a drive specific error number. The drive documentation should be consulted to interpret it. (Note that you should use MC_ReadAxisError to read this error, see https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Basic/Current/SM3_Basic/POUs/Diagnostics/MC_ReadAxisError.html. Accessing the internal variable will result in outdated values if the acis error is not mapped by PDO and is not recommended in general.) uiDriveInterfaceError holds errors of the SoftMotion driver for the drive. It is also an internal variable, not intended for direct access. It is intended for logging, the PLC log will contain the drive interface error, consisting of this number and an error text. My recommendation for handling axis errors in the CODESYS application: 1) Use MC_ReadStatus on the axis to find out whether it is in state Errorstop 2) If in Errorstop, there are two possibilities: an error reported by the drive (MC_ReadAxisError) or an error of the SoftMotion function blocks (output MC_ReadStatus.FBErrorOccured). 3) If there is no drive error, you can use SMC_ReadFBError https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Basic/Current/SM3_Basic/POUs/Diagnostics/FBError/SMC_ReadFBError.html Best regards, Georg

I'm using the JSON Utilities SL library to write configurations in my program to a file. I'm generating the JSON data using the builder function block and all appears to work correctly. When I write the jsondata to file, I'm finding that some of the JSON elements are not being written in the right location in the file. Rather than writing they keys under the parent object, they get written outside the root JSON object at the end of the file. If I then try to read the file back into the program, I get an invalid_structure error. I don't get any errors when populating the JSON data or when writing the file. I attached an example of the JSON writer output. The problems begin with key P200. Each P200 should go under MBR1 through MBR3. Among the rest of the keys, they are supposed to be under different parent objects. I am using default values for wsLineBreak and encoding.

Hi, I'm trying to monitor a specific PGN which I have it sending a pulse every 500mS Problem: Using the Watchdog for the ECU does not really help me as I have multiple instances with separate PGNs, if a PGN goes ghost, the ECU watchdog won't be flagged as the others will be running. Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a project involving the control of 5 VFDs via Modbus RTU, this time using the WAGO 750-8212 CPU. So far, I've managed to make progress, but I've encountered an issue. While I can successfully read and write to all the registers I need, I consistently encounter a "Response CRC Fail" error when attempting to write the value 1151 to the STW register at address 40100. I'm able to set the frequency via register 40101 and adjust all other parameters using different registers. Setting STW to 1150 results in the drive ready boolean from the ZSW-bit being received instantly. However, the moment I attempt to send 1151 to register 40100, I immediately receive the "Response CRC Fail" error for all channels. I've also attempted to use combined control, employing Modbus for frequency control and starting from a digital input. Everything seems to function properly until I send the start command to the VFD. Interestingly, I consistently encounter the same error the moment I send the start command, regardless of whether I use register 40006 (high) or 40100 (1151). Could someone please assist me in resolving this issue?

Hi everyone; I'm building a project in which the drag of the mouse over some controls (or the click event) changes the background color of the control items; this change of color is made with an FB that assignes a color code to the background with MUX command based on the value of an enumerator, this part is perfectly working but, when I'm using a touchpanel instead of a web visu (controlled by a mouse) I get into some issues as it seems that the touch operations are not triggering the MouseEnter and MouseLeave properties as it's done with the mouse.... For this reason I'm trying to add a TON to my FB and, if the enum that changes color remains at the same state for more then 3s I'm automatically resetting it to it's "0" so the item gets back the not selected color. Anyhow it looks like the TON function from library is not working in these FB that are instanced in the various visualizations, as instead they do if I create some instances within the POUS. Anyone has ideas of how to make them work?

Hi, I am trying to create a project using a raspberry pi, I have added the modules for the Pi and MCP3008. I have encountered som errors that I don't know how to track down. 1. The GPIOs give preprocessor errors, but I read that this does not prevent compiling. This seems to be true. I can build the empty project with no errors. 2. After adding a SPI master and MCP3008, the preprocessor errors double, but seem similar and the project again builds with no errors. 3. Hey, I'm pretty new to CoDeSys so I don't know a lot of things yet. I have to create a connection between two devices (CANbus - J1939 connection). The idea for now is to send a message from one to another (one operates on 3.5 SP11 the other one on 2.3) I watched a few videos, worked with the documentation and worked with chatGPT 4o and was able to build the attached file. This part is about the device on 3.5.11: I'm using the J1939LocalECUDiag, TransmitParameterGroup, TransmissionTrigger Function blocks to send the message but my TransmitPG.xBusy / .xDone never turns to True and therefore my message is not sent while TransmitPG.xExcecute is True. I added the two devices in the CANbus in the J1939Manager and addapted the options like I've seen in the documentation. Can anyone explain what's wrong with my code in this casse or give me advices how to properly create a connection between my two devices? Thanks in advance!

Hi Dave. Thanks for your answer. I still struggling with this. I have done everything according with the Codesys help even I have looked in detail at the example. I have double checked the recipe manager configuration and the use of all the methods. There are two methods that do not work as expected. I'm using Codesys 3.5.19.20 and recipe management 4.4.0.0 .CreateRecipe just create a recipe in the recipe definition but do not create the file. This have a walk around just giving a .ReadAndSaveRecipe afterwards. .ReloadRecipes do nothing but do not generate any error as well. After calling it I call the .GetRecipeCount and the number is always 0. When I create a new recipe (using the function block methods) then the number changes. Looks like this method is looking to the wrong directory finding nothing. I don't know if there is a missing configuration in the CODESYSControl.cfg file. I'm thinking in a walk around for this but I need to create a strings array with the recipe names as retentive and making all the management when deleting and adding recipes. Have had some one the same problem?

Hello, I am trying to re-create the CoE online window within a Visu for purposes of checking and interacting with device parameters occasionally for maintenance purposes. To minimize reliance on using the IDE for misc interactions. Ideally, I would like to exactly mimic the CoE online window within the IDE. I assume that it uses a few tricks to minimize overhead, such as only polling registers which are within the visual scope, for example. I'm afraid it might be too much to ask for a pre-built drop-in Visu module to exist for this task. Do I have any options aside from manually re-creating all the logic to do this, relying heavily on SdoInfo function blocks? Is there a way for me to reference the device ESI file to shortcut the process of determining how many registers there are and getting the address for each?

I'm going through the process of updating the CODESYS Project a machine to 3.5 SP21 (old version was 3.5 SP20). One function that stopped working when upgrading was SysProcessCreate. I need to run a .exe file that is located in C:\Program Files\MQTTStream. Some initial searching suggested that there are new security rules that prevent the SoftPLC from reading/writing files to outside of its Device folder (located here - C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\24FD6770) Relocating files helped fix my JSON file reader/writer functions (which were failing previously), but not the case for SysProcessCreate. I've even attempted to just run window's cmd.exe and with: pszCommandLine = 'cd /d C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\24FD6770\PlcLogic\MQTTStream & sift-proxy.exe --grpc_uri="https://grpc-api.siftstack.com" --api_key="xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" mqtt-client --broker_ip=10.0.10.101 --broker_port=1883 --config_file="mqtt_telemetry_config.json" --username Plantd --password 1234 --stream_metrics --storage_path="sift-proxy-logs"' I have not been able to find a lot of documentation on this, and I suspect the new update may have created a bug for SysProcessCreate. Hello Mr. Seidel, both the master and the slave axis are modulo. Basically the situation is as follows: One master cycle is 100 units. Slave's modulo length is 2000 units. In the CAM table I defined 10 master cycles on X axis - 1000 units and on the Y axis is the slave - 2000 units. Then depending on the master position 0 to 1000 units the slave's position is plotted on the Y axis - 0 to 2000 units. For example, while the master is executing the 3rd cycle i.e. above 200 units, I trigger the STO function of the slave and it stops. The master executed his cycle but the slave was stopped during the execution. How can I set the slave to continue the CAM sequence from the point where it stopped i.e. third cycle of the master? When I reset the slave error and sync again, everyrhing starts from master's 0 position. Best Regards Konstantin Kolev

It sounds like your TLS setup is basically correct, since the handshake works via OpenSSL, so the issue is likely on the CODESYS side rather than the certificates themselves. From what I’ve seen with the Azure IoT Hub Client SL library, you should double-check that the SAS token is actually being generated and passed correctly to the function blocks (especially wsDeviceSaS) and that the MQTT/HTTPS FB is really triggered cyclically-otherwise the controller won’t initiate the connection at all. Also, make sure DNS, time (NTP), and full certificate chain trust are properly configured on the controller, since IoT Hub authentication depends on them even when using SAS tokens. Another thing worth checking is the library/runtime version-there are reports that certain versions changed behavior and caused connection issues. I’d recommend starting with the official demo project (AzureMQTTDemo) and comparing it step by step with your setup to see what’s missing or not triggered. Speed Stars

Thanks in advance. Edit: It seems I can manually replace the uiArrayLength in the persisten list by the value 10 I used as the generic constant for this particular instance.

In the CODESYS Ladder Logic editor, there's a really practical feature available while logged in (online) to the PLC: for an existing function block (e.g. TON or MC_MoveAbsolute), double-clicking on an unconnected input pin directly opens a value entry window right in the editor — with no need to assign any variable — and you can type a value directly. Likewise, if the input pin is of an ENUM or STRUCT type, it lets you pick a value of that type straight from a dropdown list. It also doesn't require assigning a variable or adding it to a watch list, etc. Unfortunately, in the CFC editor you can't write values directly to those unconnected input pins the way you can in Ladder — CFC only supports monitoring/display there. I wish this existing Ladder editor feature were also available in CFC — it would make the CFC editor far more usable. I think this would be a relatively small addition to the CFC editor, but it would make a real difference in daily commissioning and debugging work. It would be great to hear the development team's thoughts on whether this could be considered for a future release. Thanks in advance for reading!

Before creating this topic, I was browsing the search results for CodesysControl.cfg - many results, and I remember very well, it's a problematic issue for a long time. To summarize: there were many requests for documentation on this file - the most comprehensive reply is: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/ebbf851a3d/#eb85 Hi, not really, this is covered by the manual which you get if you use a runtime toolkit which is not free of charge. Maybe we need to extract the config file part from that documentation if that is possible. BR Edwin I am not sure how much is this relevant, since we buy SL License directly from CODESYS... I think it is a reasonable demand, to get documentation on the configuration entries affecting the documented behaviour of the runtime system and it's components The actual reason I bring up this issue again can be read here: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/febad3cc40/#0e12 but mostly my frustration about noticing some new, unknown and undocumented entries in my configuration file. Again. And this happens a lot recently. Just some examples: Changes with SysFile - and mandatory use of IEC path Introduction of Mandatory user management File transfer service now disabled by default SysProcess - allowed commands The above mentioned CmpApp parameters... And finally (Regaridng windows install): With the newer versions, the installation directory (together with the configuration file) tends to hide itself to some super silly location under the roaming profile data of local system account. I am not sure if this change was documented somewhere, but was a very unpleasant one. Someone could please explain the reason and the concept of the introduction of this release specific directories (I am sure, there is a good reason) - how to use them properly? - How to re-introduce user configuration (to preserve configuration data between versions)? - How to do version - to version migrations properly? - How to keep old version of runtime available and ready to start with it's original configuration and application? - ... Therefore, the lack a regularly updated description of CodesysControl .cfg , including all the configuration entries, together with their default values for different runtime versions is really a big deficiency.* This should be done for all components storing or just seeking data from this file... (Maybe there is such thing but I failed to find???) It is regularly causing trouble when introducing a new version (together with the long awaited bug fixes and enhancements), what has changed it's default behaviour for security or other practical reasons. I agree this is very important, and it is logical to change the default options: But it must be documented historically, and make it easily available, so we can prepare better for the upgrade of the runtime. Forge talk is a great source, but not very practical for this kind of documentation purposes... Hello , I am currently evaluating the CODESYS PROFINET Controller SL on a Revolution Pi Connect 5 and have encountered a problem with acyclic PROFINET Record Access (WRREC/RDREC). System Hardware: Revolution Pi Connect 5 Runtime: CODESYS Control 4.16.0.0 (SDK 3.5.21.10) Development System: CODESYS V3.5 SP21 (64-bit) CommFB: 3.5.17.10 ProfinetCommon: 4.6.0.0 PROFINET Controller Device: PN-Controller 4.6.0.0 PROFINET Device: NORD DRIVESYSTEMS SK205E with SK TU4-PNT GSDML: GSDML-V2.46-NORDDRIVESYSTEMS-PNT-20251016.xml Network The PROFINET network is completely separated from the office network. RevPi: eth0 → Office network eth1 → PROFINET wlan0 → Visualization The PN Controller is configured to use eth1. IP configuration: RevPi (eth1): 192.168.100.1/24 NORD Drive: 192.168.100.3 Connection is established successfully. Current Status The PN Controller reports: Controller Status = Run Online = TRUE IP Active = TRUE Connections = 1 Cyclic PROFINET IO communication works correctly. Problem I am trying to access PKW parameters via WRREC (Record Index 100). The request buffer contains: 01 14 00 04 92 00 00 00 00 00 00 which corresponds to Reference = 0x01 Request = Read Axis = 0 Parameter = 170 + 1000 Subindex = 0 Value = 0 The WRREC call is fbWRREC( REQ := xWrReq, ID := ConnectionID, INDEX := 100, LEN := 11, RECORD := ADR(TxBuffer) ); REQ is pulsed for one PLC cycle only. Observed Behaviour WRREC enters BUSY state and never finishes. Observed values: BUSY = TRUE DONE = FALSE ERROR = FALSE STATUS = 16#FFFFFFFF indefinitely. Packet Capture A Wireshark capture was taken on the PROFINET network. Observed traffic: PROFINET RT LLDP DCP Observed: successful cyclic IO Not observed: DCE/RPC Record Write Record Read RPC Bind No RPC packets are transmitted at all. Diagnostic Messages The controller repeatedly reports AR alarm.ind(err) AR CMI timeout although cyclic IO communication continues to work. Already Verified The following points have already been checked: correct Ethernet interface (eth1) correct CREATE_ID result correct Device ID correct Slot/Subslot correct GSDML correct REQ pulse RECORD buffer is larger than LEN cyclic IO communication works different Record Indices (100...104) tested Question Is there any known issue or limitation where WRREC/RDREC requests remain permanently BUSY and no RPC Record Access packets are generated? Could this behaviour be related to Runtime 4.16.0.0, PN Controller 4.6.0.0, the missing runtime license (currently running in demo mode), or any known issue with the PROFINET Controller SL? I am currently evaluating the PROFINET Controller SL and therefore the runtime is operating in demo mode. Could you please confirm whether WRREC/RDREC (acyclic Record Data services) are fully supported in demo mode, or whether a valid license is required for these services? I just installed codesys runtime on a raspberry pi Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz (Compute Module 4) I am running on Codesys control for raspberry pi 64 SL ver 4.13.0 and I keep getting a crash after about five to ten minutes. This program was running fine on a 32bit system with runtime 4.8 previously but they upgraded the panel PC cause it got smashed. Looking at the logs I see this error "ERROR: GetNetLinkSockAndInfoByMac(): could not open netlink socket: Too many open files" at the time of crash. I do have a UDP socket open for a serial to ethernet adapter and im wondering if maybe its opening a bunch of sockets and while receiving messages, Im not sending anything to the device only receiving.
