I have created a library with both code and visualizations to be used in multiple other projects. After I update the library version into the library repository, I have much difficulty updating the version into the main project. I can always update the library version in the Library Manager just fine. My issue, is sometimes Codesys will freeze when opening the visualization that uses the library visualizations. Sometimes it opens, but freezes when I try to access the library visualizations from the Visualization Toolbox. I try letting Codesys run for upwards of 4+ hours and it is stuck in this state. On very rare cases I have no issues and can continue with my work. I haven't found a consistent reason or work around. Has anyone else had this happen?

Some developers export ST code manually and edit it in VSCode, then copy it back. However, a more practical approach might be using automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to extract and inject code into the CODESYS project. You could also check if CODESYS Automation Server or CODESYS API allows better ST access for external tools. https://www.codesys.com/the-system/releases-updates-lifecycle/release-plan-roadmap.html Network drive issues are particularly painful. As a mitigation, you could try using local project storage with periodic cloud sync instead of directly saving to a network drive. Using Rsync or Syncthing for automatic but safe synchronization might reduce risks of file corruption.

The jitter for EtherCat and SoftMotion tasks is less than the task cycle (2 ms jitter for a 6 ms task). The power supply is sufficient for both the PLC and the motors. The cables are in good condition. Please suggest where to look for the problem. P.S. The PLC uses proprietary Linux and there is no SSH access.

1) it should be possible to access the type SysTime in the project as A_Lib.SysTime. 2) you could add the SysTimeCore library to the library manager of your library (POU Pool). This might seem as a double library, but because of the placeholder resolution only one will be used. Then, in your library manager of your library, select the SysTimeCore library, right-click, select "Properties" and enable the option "Publish all IEC symbols ...." Hello, I am running a CODESYS Control Runtime on a Raspberry Pi. Two CmSticks are connected to the same system: CmStick A - Runtime license - MultiCore license - KNX license CmStick B - Engineering / Developer licenses My goal is: The runtime on the Raspberry Pi shall use CmStick A locally. Licenses from CmStick A shall NOT be provided by the CodeMeter Network Server. Only licenses from CmStick B shall be available to remote network clients. During troubleshooting I observed that the CodeMeter Network Server collects licenses from both CmSticks. The KNX license appears to be local-only, but the runtime and multicore licenses of the same dongle are still visible through the server. I would like to know if a supported configuration exists for the following scenario: One CmStick remains strictly local to the runtime. A second CmStick on the same machine is exported through the CodeMeter Network Server. Questions: Is it possible to exclude a specific CmStick from being exported by the CodeMeter Network Server? Can this be configured via License Access Permissions (ACL), WebAdmin, or another mechanism? Can export rules be applied per CmStick, per Firm Code, or per Product Code? If supported, could you provide a configuration example or a reference to the relevant documentation? The reason for asking is that after removing a separately installed CodeMeter server component and returning to a local-only setup, the runtime licensing behaviour became stable again. Therefore I am looking for the officially supported way to keep the runtime dongle local while still providing engineering licenses from a second dongle over the network. Thank you.

Hi, On CODESYS V3.5.19.50 I am using the latest 3S File Access library (CAA File & CAA Types) to save and retrieve configuration data from the User Data section of an SD card, via file called config.txt. The application reads the file to memory once upon initialisation, and then the only other operation is overwriting the file with the updated configuration whenever the user changes the settings. An issue is ocurring, seemingly randomly, where the config.txt file, and all surrounding directories, cannot be written to by the unit, returning a READ_ONLY_CAA error upon file open. This sometimes does not clear even after power-cycling the PLC several times, yet checking the file permissions with ls -l shows normal read, write, and execute access. I am wondering if this is caused by the PLC itself or by an issue in my application. Ok, I think I understand. The problem is my language-setting being "swedish". I will check if I can switch to english. Update/confirmed. Change LANG to en_GB, this enabled the architechture to be correct and the control SL again to appear and to be possible to be updated. Thanks!

Hello I'm trying to use DirOpen to access a directory where then I can read/list the files inside. But I can't list any files because DirOpen.xError is always true. In eError the message is this: " ERROR_UNKNOWN Local library error ID (0: no error; 5101: time out)**** " I have in the file explorer the path 'C:\CodesysTest\Aluminium' and to make sure I also created in the plc a folder to 'prj/Recipes/Aluminium'. I tried using the different paths, but in both it happens the same thing.Inside the folder Aluminium there is two csv files, that I want to list. I added in the library manager CAA Files and CAA Types. I am using the example of https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/CAA%20File/Current/Examples.html#directory but not matter what I do, I can't get the list the names of the files. What am I missing?

Hi, I would like to divide a project into multiple applications - as a minimum: one handling visualization and Alarm Manager, one handling I/O and plant control logic. But how to exchange variables between the applications? What have you done to get such a solution? In versions 3.5.19 and earlier, you can have Child applications, where the children can access a GVL in the Parent application. Children apps is no longer possible in 3.5.20 - but you can have 'sibling' apps - Several apps directly under PLC Logic, that is. But how do they best communicate? The Communication Manager / Data Sources Manager is sort of possible via OPC UA, but it seems like overkill and with some limitations - for example no ARRAY OF STRUCT possible this way. If you have separate devices in your project, you can exchange data via 'CODESYS ApplicationV3', but not other applications in the same device (see attachment Datasources.png). You can do it via 'Select the project type'->'Other Project' and select the same project file, but this leads to crashing the Development system when working with the variables afterwards. It would be great to hear your thoughts / experiences on this topic - Bjarne

Is it possible like G-Code streaming processing (like FANUC or SIEMENS DNC Function )? Or Does anyone know the tips for CODESYS Motion to start moving long Long G-Code File quickly? I have to wait long time after "Start" button to start moving, I have to wait finishing interpreting whole G-Code file, ( and I have to prepare huge buffer to store. ) Now, I'm working on my CNC Project using SMC_ReadNCFile2, and SMC_NcInterpreter to preprocess G-Code. I tried to set SMC_Interpolator.xExecute to true to Start while after SMC_NcInterpreter processed more 50-line of G-Code, but that not worked, I had to wait SMC_NcInterpreter processed all lines to start SMC_Interpolator. G-Code have about 2000 lines of XY of G01 (or more over.. ) of short segment that a CAM software has exploded from NURBS Curve.

Hello? I have a problem with datasource... I am trying to connect to a OPCUA server. I create a datasource, but I can not login into it. I need to use login credentials to login... Everything works fine in UAExpert, but in codesys I cant seem to get in properly using the login credentials... I have tried to configure the datasource initializer but seem to keep failing... Do I need to call it somewhere ? Will the find endpoints work with this configured to store my password ? !

I'm programming an HMI, and on a settings page I have external buttons allow the operator to tab between various elements to select which one they want to adjust. I then use "Input Configuration" > "OnMouseClick" to select which variable to adjust. The problem is, when adjusting the variable the pointer will move to the other elements within the tab order. Is there a way to pause or prevent the pointer to move to the other elements when a variable is TRUE?

Solved it! The simple answer was to declare a variable as POINTER TO STRING and assign the GetMessage result to that variable. Then, the ^ operator can be used to extract the message as string.
