The new (UTF8) string library is faster and can handle large strings. https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20String%20Libraries/_strlib_start_page.html PS, in CODESYS, the maximum string length is not 255 characters. The String functions of the standard library are limited to strings of 255 characters. But you can use other (memory) functions to handle strings larger than 255 characters.

Hello, i want to connect my automation server and i follow the steps as desribed in the video series(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiPKyyO4M00&list=PLaws15OZmd7Uu2W23zX2w424aI3TrOfHf) and also that guide (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Automation%20Server/_cas_add_plc_to_server.html). When i go to "Allow Edge Gateway configuration.." from the Codesys gateway Systray running i get the message in the attached picture, so i open the Gateway.cgf but the file doesn't contain an cmpedgegateway section as mentioned in the message. I have installed all the latest versions codesys and of the components mentioned in the guides. How can i solve that problem?

It seems you have 2 network interfaces. Did you try eth1? Did you already configure the IP address for this interface in Linux? If yes, then maybe undo this. - or only set eth0 in the Nic configuration without anything else (so no IP address, because this is already set in Linux). For more information about the Nic settings, see (probably already read it?): https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Control/_rtsl_obj_deploy_control_sl_configuration.html PS, if you only want to run CODESYS Control SL, you don't necessarily need the Virtual PLC variant. You could also install and run the CODESYS Control SL Runtime in the Host operating system. This way you should also be able to access the serial port and directly access all ethernet ports. Maybe this is easier?

Hello, In my projects, I'm following this recommendation about the rule names in Codesys https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_rules.html, so I always use backtick identifiers, not only for variables, but also for the object names. However, I have noticed that in the current version of Codesys, when adding Visu object, it is not allowed to used these identifiers in the name. This is very different from all other objects like, folder names, POU names, Variable list names etc. I wonder if there is some hidden settings I can use to enable backtick identifiers in the Visu object names? Attached is a screenshot with the details. Thank you!

Open the CODESYS Installer. Create an export file from your current PC from your current version. Then on the other PC Open the installer and install a new version based on the same essentials version, but additionally select the export file which you have created on the first PC. Or just install (import) it within the already existing version. For the installer, you can install it from: https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-installer.html For help see: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Installer/_inst_install_setups_and_addons.html On PC 1, save the project as projectarchive (which will then include all the libraries and devices). Then extract this projectarchive on PC 2.

If you have a Windows system (RTE), then why not run the CODESYS HMI as separate controller. This could easily be moved to another PC if required. In the HMI you could also still use the Symbolic Var access as part of the Data Source Manager, although maybe OPC is the preferred way to make it more future proof. Or what about the Remote Target Visu. Then you can reduce the load of the main controller, while still only having to create one application including Visualization. This is now also supported for Linux systems. Using V3.5.19.70 with ControlWin x64 V3.5.19.70. Can start ControlWin and login to ControlWin but play button is grayed out. Under Device>Status ControlWin shows red with "No Driver Found" New laptop just setting up Codesys, Windows 11 24H2 Tried to uninstall and re-install with no success.
