Post by matteodigani on Error using function block "Write alias address" CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I've got a problem using the function block "Write alias address" (ETCStack library 4.9.0.0). this is the code: EtherCAT_1(); IF EtherCAT_1.ConfigRead AND enable THEN CASE seq OF 0: exec := FALSE; T.IN := TRUE; T.PT := T#10S; T(); IF T.Q THEN seq := 1; T.IN := FALSE; END_IF ; 1: T.IN := FALSE; T(); //THIS ONE WORK CORRECTLY! WrAliasAdd.xAbort := FALSE; WrAliasAdd.usiCom := DWORD_TO_USINT(EtherCAT_1.InstanceNumber); WrAliasAdd.wSlaveAddress := 1002; WrAliasAdd.xAutoIncAdr := FALSE; WrAliasAdd.uiAliasAddress := 19; WrAliasAdd.udiTimeOut := 3000; IF start THEN exec := TRUE; ELSE IF NOT error THEN start := TRUE; END_IF END_IF IF WrAliasAdd.xDone THEN start := FALSE; done := TRUE; error := FALSE; exec := FALSE; seq := 5; END_IF IF WrAliasAdd.xError THEN start := FALSE; done := FALSE; error := TRUE; exec := FALSE; END_IF ; 5: exec := FALSE; T.IN := TRUE; T.PT := T#1S; T(); IF T.Q THEN seq := 10; END_IF ; 10: T.IN := FALSE; T(); //THIS ONE GIVES ME AN ERROR! WrAliasAdd.xAbort := FALSE; WrAliasAdd.usiCom := DWORD_TO_USINT(EtherCAT_1.InstanceNumber); WrAliasAdd.wSlaveAddress := 1006; WrAliasAdd.xAutoIncAdr := FALSE; WrAliasAdd.uiAliasAddress := 25; WrAliasAdd.udiTimeOut := 1000; IF start THEN exec := TRUE; ELSE IF NOT error THEN start := TRUE; END_IF END_IF IF WrAliasAdd.xDone THEN start := FALSE; done := TRUE; error := FALSE; exec := FALSE; seq := 99; END_IF IF WrAliasAdd.xError THEN start := FALSE; done := FALSE; error := TRUE; exec := FALSE; END_IF ; ELSE ; END_CASE WrAliasAdd(xExecute := exec); END_IF The first one slave ethercat works correctly, but the other one gives me an error. Attached the ethercat configuration of the devices. All the devices are set "Optional". So my idea is to enable only the first one (1002) and the fifth one (1006).

The following guide describes how you can adapt the user management for the first time in a project. It deals with the definition of a user and a group to which he belongs. Requirement: the project for which the user management is to be set up is opened. There is no adapted user configuration yet. Select Project Settings ‣ Users and Groups and then the Users tab. The user Owner is already created by default. Click on Add. ⇒ The dialog box Add User appears. Enter a login name, for example ‘Dev1’, and a password. Leave the option Activated activated. Click on OK. ⇒ On creating a group for the first time, CODESYS now requests you to authenticate yourself to perform this action. In this case, enter ‘Owner’ as the current user. Do not enter a password, just click on OK. The user Dev1 appears in the list and is automatically a member of the group 'Everyone'. Change to the tab Groups, in order to add the user to a new group. ⇒ The groups Everyone and Owner have already been created. Click on Add in order to open the dialog box Add Group. Specify at least one name for the new group, for example ‘Developers’. Activate the checkbox next to the entry User ‘Dev1’ in the field Members. Click on OK. ⇒ The group Developers now appears with has user member 'Dev1'. Switch to the Users tab. ⇒ The user Dev1 now appears as a member of the groups ‘Everyone’ and ‘Developers’.

Post by r-niedermayer on C0564 Warning Message CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Please see or Online Help on how to initialize variable before using them: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_pragma_attribute_global_init_slot.html Regarding the Attribute global_init_slot: You can use this pragma to influence the order in which signatures are processed during global initialization. It can only be applied to signatures. By default, the initialization sequence for variables from global variable lists is undefined! However, if, for example, variables from one list depend on variables from another list, it is necessary to initialize one before the other. (Aee OLH and Syntax) The placeholder <slot> must be replaced by an integer value that defines the position in the initialization sequence.</slot> The default value is 50000. A lower value causes an earlier initialization! If several signatures have the same value for the 'global_init_slot' attribute, the order of their initialization remains undefined! Cautious application should therefore be considered! Example: The project contains f.e. two global variable lists GVL_1 and GVL_2. The global variable "A" is part of the global variable list GVL_1: {attribute 'global_init_slot' := '300'} VAR_GLOBAL A : INT:=1000; END_VAR The initialization values of the variables "B" and "C" of GVL_2 are dependent on the variable "A". {attribute 'global_init_slot' := '350'} VAR_GLOBAL B : INT:=A+1; C : INT:=A-1; END_VAR So if you set the 'global_init_slot' attribute of the global variable list GVL_1 to 300, i.e. to the lowest initialization value in the example, then it is ensured that the expression "A+1" is well-defined at the time of initialization of "B".

Post by mondinmr on Why SysPipeWindows is not implemented in RTE? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
This library would be very useful for IPC communications. Using a UDP socket on localhost is unpredictable, as with slightly loaded machines it does not even guarantee packet delivery locally. Using TCP creates a lot of overhead. Message named pipes would be an excellent solution for Windows RTE. On Linux, since the release of the extension package, there is no issue, as it is sufficient to develop a component. However, although now 90% of our clients understand that Linux runtimes are better in every way compared to Windows RTE, especially from the security aspect (Not in kernel space) and the issues with Windows updates, 10% stubbornly insist (sometimes for trivial commercial reasons) on using Windows. Managing IPC with circular buffers in shared memory is quite ugly, or rather really ugly and unaesthetic. In the manuals, I saw the SysPipeWindows libraries, so I decided to test them, but unfortunately, I noticed that they are not implemented for RTE devices. Technically, I could try to open them as regular files, but SysFileOpen returns 16#27 or 16#39 depending on how I set the name (direction of the slashes). Here is the code to create shared memory and named pipes. Shared memory work great, named pipes no! #ifdef Q_OS_WIN32 SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES sa; SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR sd; InitializeSecurityDescriptor(&sd, SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR_REVISION); SetSecurityDescriptorDacl(&sd, TRUE, NULL, FALSE); sa.nLength = sizeof(SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES); sa.lpSecurityDescriptor = &sd; sa.bInheritHandle = FALSE; const wchar_t* name = L"Global\\ShmTest"; HANDLE hMapFile = CreateFileMapping( INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE, NULL, PAGE_READWRITE, 0, sizeof(SharedData), name); if (hMapFile == NULL) { qCritical("Error creating shared memory"); return 1; } data = static_cast<SharedData*>(MapViewOfFile(hMapFile, FILE_MAP_ALL_ACCESS, 0, 0, sizeof(SharedData))); if (data == NULL) { qCritical("Error mapping shared memory"); return 1; } HANDLE hPipe = CreateNamedPipe( TEXT("\\\\.\\pipe\\MyPipe"), PIPE_ACCESS_DUPLEX, PIPE_TYPE_MESSAGE | PIPE_READMODE_MESSAGE | PIPE_WAIT, PIPE_UNLIMITED_INSTANCES, 1024 * 1024, 1024 * 1024, NMPWAIT_USE_DEFAULT_WAIT, &sa); if (hPipe == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) { qCritical("Error creating named pipe"); return -1; } if (!ConnectNamedPipe(hPipe, NULL)) { qCritical("Error connecting to named pipe"); return -1; } checkPipe(hPipe); #endif

Post by john-robinson on Limiting Memory Access of an Array to Within its Bounds CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Recently we had an issue regarding some simple code to calculate a rolling average. The code indexes from zero to 199 to properly store the current input into a circular buffer which then allows us to calculate a rolling average: VAR input_5s : REAL; outs_arr : ARRAY[0..199] OF REAL; i : USINT := 0; END_VAR ___ //this code runs every five seconds, calculating a rolling average outs_arr[i] := input_5s; i := i + 1; output := OSCAT_BASIC.ARRAY_AVG(ADR(outs_arr), SIZEOF(outs_arr)); IF i >= SIZEOF(outs_arr) THEN i := 0; END_IF There is a simple bug in this code where the index will be set to 0 when it has surpassed the length of the array in bytes (800 in this case) rather than larger than the number of reals in the array (200). The solution here is simple, replacing i >= SIZEOF(outs_arr) with i >= SIZEOF(outs_arr)/SIZEOF(outs_arr[0]). In this example when the index increased to 201 and the line outs_arr[201] := input_5s was called, codesys arbitrarily wrote to the address in memory that is where outs_arr[201] would be if the array was that long. I would like to find a way to wrap the codesys array inside of a wrapper class that checks if an input is within the bounds of an array before writing to that value. I know how I would implement that for a specific array, I could create a method or class that takes an input of an array of variable length, ie. ARRAY[*] OF REAL, but I don't know how to make this for any data type. I am wondering if anyone has ever done anything similar to this, or has any better suggestions to ensure that none of the programmers on this application accidentally create code that can arbitrarily write to other locations in memory.

Post by testlogic on Sending Sequential Modbus TCP Packets CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have a Modbus TCP slave device where I need to do sequential writes to the same register. The register I'm writing to is kind of like a command line, each packet is a command word encoded in Hexadecimal. I am having difficulty implementing this system in CoDeSys 3.5 SP19. I feel like the structure of the program should be something along the lines of (Pseudocode): ModbusTCPSend(Command Register, Command1) ModbusTCPSend(Command Register, Command2) ModbusTCPSend(Command Register, Command3) I have tried to implement this with a rising edge trigger wMot1OPCode := 16#E1; //Stop Motor & Kill Program xMot1SendOP := TRUE; //Send OP on rising edge xMot1SendOP := FALSE; //Reset wMot1OPCode := 16#9E; //Disable Motor xMot1SendOP :=TRUE; //Send OP on rising edge xMot1SendOP := FALSE; //Reset Where "wMot1OPCode" is the IO map for writing to the command register, and "xMot1SendOP" is the rising edge trigger for that modbus channel. However, this doesn't work. The device never responds to the modbus commands. It seems like the trigger variable is switched too quickly for modbus to send the packet. I know the modbus register is working, because I can set the channel to cyclic and the device will respond. However, I can't use this reliably because I need each command to be sent once, in order. Cyclic keeps re-sending the commands and seems like it could miss a command as well if one was sent in-between cycle time. I have also trying using the Application trigger as described by https://faq.codesys.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=24510480, but this is also not working for me. See attached picture for my FBD code. This seems like a simple function, I can't tell what I'm doing wrong here. Thanks for the help.

Post by tk096 on High Cycle Times for SoftMotion_PlanningTask when using AxisGroup CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, under this circumstances the performance of a Raspberry Pi 4 should be sufficient to run a Softmotion robotics application. A closer look at the project would be required. Maybe you could contact the codesys support? Usually it is recommended to run the planning task cyclically every 2ms with task priority of 0 on a dedicated core. In the task configuration you can have a look at the average and maximum execution time of the planning task. You could use the function block SMC_TuneCPKernel (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Robotics/Current/SM3_Robotics/POUs/AdministrativeConfiguration/Computation/SMC_TuneCPKernel.html) to define suitable values for the parameters 'fSyncBufferDuration' and 'fPlanningInterval'. However, as previously mentioned, the performance of a Raspberry Pi 4 with realtime patch should be sufficient. The 'fPlanningInterval' parameter specifies the maximum planning step width in seconds. The cycle time of the planning task should not permanently exceed this value. A higher value reduces the computational effort, but can lead to a violation or no full utilization of the set limit values for velocity, acceleration and jerk. From a starting value of 0.016 seconds, the value should be increased gradually until the performance is acceptable. The parameter 'fSyncBufferDuration' specifies the size (in seconds) of the buffer between the planning and fieldbus task. The cycle time of the planning task must not exceed this value at peak times (this will lead to the error SMC_CP_QUEUE_UNDERRUN). A higher value can compensate for peaks in the cycle time of the planning task. At the same time, however, this also increases the latency for executing interrupts and aborting movements.

Post by thysonfury on OPTO22 Groov Epic PR2 Modbus Comms Dropping out every 2 hours and 4 Mins CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi after some assistance with an error on a Groov PR2 PLC. We have a few different communications set up as shown below: One Modbus TCP Slave Connection - ( Sending / Receiving Data from a PC ) Two Modbus TCP Master Connection - ( Reading Data from a UPS Panel and Reading Data Gas Chromatograph) One Modbus RTU Slave Connection 485 - (Reading Data from a fire and gas panel) One Modbus RTU Master Connection 485 - (Sending Data to a Telemetry Unit) All Licenses have been installed as per OPTO22 suggestions of the order below: Modbus TCP Master Modbus TCP Slave Modbus RTU Master Modbus RTU Slave When I check on License manager the RTU Master license seems to disappear on installing the RTU. (What ever reason I’ve been told this is “normal”). If I use Device License Read It will successfully read all the licenses correctly. Now the issue is every 2 hours and between 4. For what ever reason the communications seems to end and lock up for about 20 seconds. During this time even if I was logged into the PLC it would kick me off and I’d have to re type the password to enter. Most of the devices can handle this however the RTU flags up a communications failure at the SCADA and is raising alarms every 2 hours and 4 mins. We’ve had multiple people go through the code to check for anything obvious. Does anyone have any ideas?

Post by e13740e on Parameterized Property syntax for array element processing CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Since parameterized (indexed) properties are not possible, I decided to use architectural approach "Indexing Property Adapter" to achieve the intended goal — avoiding code duplication for validated access to array elements. Essence: Create a Function Block Adapter (FB_PropertyAdapter) that encapsulates the logic for working with a single element of the target array (e.g., with one settings structure). Declare Properties inside the adapter block for accessing each individual field of the data structure. All validation logic is implemented within the Set accessors of these properties. Data Binding via VAR_IN_OUT: The adapter block receives a reference to a specific data element from the global array through its VAR_IN_OUT section, which ensures direct work with the original data without copying. Create an Array of Adapters: In the parent POU (e.g., FB_SettingsManager), an array of these adapter blocks is created — one for each element of the global array that needs to be managed. Initialize Bindings: In a FOR loop, each adapter instance from the array is given a reference to the corresponding data element. Result: This approach allows accessing the data via the index of the adapter array, and then through the property name, which simulates the behavior of an indexed property: MyAdapterArray[Index].MyProperty Thus, the validation and data access logic is written only once inside the adapter block and is then reused multiple times by creating instances of it in an array. This completely solves the problem of code duplication while providing a clean, scalable, and object-oriented architecture compatible with standard CODESYS features. Question closed.

SUMMARIZED VERSION OF QUESTION: I'm trying to connect a Raspberry Pi running "Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi" to a Beckhoff EK1100, unfortunately, when I try to connect I get the following messages SEE FIRST PICTURE DETAILED VERSION OF QUESTION: Hi everyone, I'm a college student that is super interested in learning about PLCs. I wanted to dive into the subject and decided to follow this great Instructables article: https://www.instructables.com/Programming-Raspberry-Pi-With-CODESYS/ Thank you in advance for your help! My current setup is as follows: 1. I have Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi, version 4.14.0.0, (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-control-for-raspberry-pi-sl.html) installed on a Raspberry Pi 3B. 2. I am using my smartphone hotspot to create a network. 3. I have CODESYS 3.5 SP21 (64 bit) installed on my Windows 11 laptop. 4. Both the Raspberry Pi and my laptop are connected to the smartphone hotspot network (I am wirelessly connecting to the Raspberry Pi). Connecting to the Raspberry Pi from CODESYS on my laptop: 1. I launch Codesys Installer -> I install Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi (link to the software). 2. I launch Codesys 3.5 SP21 (64 bit) on my laptop. 3. I go to file --> new project --> standard project --> in the pop-up I select "Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi" and "Structured Text" 4. I click on tools -> Deploy Control SL (on older versions of Codesys you would click on "update Raspberry Pi", I got that information from this video: link) 5. Inside Deploy Control SL --> I go to the "communication" menu and I input the IP address of my Pi, the password, and click on connect. 6. Inside Deploy Control SL --> I go to the "deployment" menu and I install Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi SL and Codesys Edge Gateway for Linux 7. Now I double click on "device" in the left hand tree and put in the IP address of my Raspberry Pi and click on connect --> success! I am able to connect! SEE SECOND PICTURE Powering the EK1100 and connecting it to the Raspberry Pi: 1. I am supplying the EK1100 with 24 V across the + and - pins. 2. I have jumper wires going from the + pin to the 24V pin and from the - pin to the 0V pin. SEE THIRD PICTURE 4. I am pretty confident that the EK1100 is receiving power because the "LED Us 24 V" and "LED Up 24 V" are lighting up. 5. I then run an ethernet cable from the EK1100 to the Raspberry Pi port (the Raspberry Pi is connected to my laptop wirelessly over WiFi). I think this connection should also be good since the LINK/ACT LED lights up. Trying to connect to the EK1100: 1. Back in Codesys I right-click on "Device" in the left tree and then in the pop up I click on "add device". 2. I then click on EtherCAT Master. 3. Next in a terminal window I SSH into the raspberry Pi and run the "ifconfig" command. 4. From there I get the MAC address for eth0 --> in my case: b8:27:eb:29:a9:25 5. Then, back in Codesys I double click on "EtherCAT Master" in the left hand tree. I then paste the MAC address into the "Source Address (MAC)" field. 6. I go to the Beckhoff official website and download the XML files for EtherCAT: https://www.beckhoff.com/en-en/products/i-o/ethercat-terminals/ek1xxx-bk1xx0-ethercat-coupler/ek1100.html? 7. I unzip those files in my computer into some folder that I can remember. 8. Back in Codesys I click on "Tools" --> "Device Repository" --> "Install" --> and then on the "Beckhoff EK11xx.XML" file. 9. In theory the necessary XML file is now installed. 10. THIS IS WHERE I RUN INTO THE PROBLEM: I then click on login --> I right click on EtherCAT_Master and then scan for devices --> and nothing. 11. It just doesn't detect it. On top of this whenever I login I get those orange triangles on the left on my tree. When I check the Log I get the messages at the very first screenshot of this post. SEE FOURTH PICTURE Solutions that I have tried to resolve this problem: 1. I thought it was maybe the .XML file so I installed all the .XML files from the EtherCAT folder that I downloaded. That didn't fix it. 2. I went on the Wayback Machine and got the .XML files from 2018 as I thought maybe an older version would work. This file of EtherCAT folders had a .XML file named "Beckhoff EKxxxx.XML" I thought this would work because that's the name of the file the guy in the Instructables used (https://www.instructables.com/Programming-Raspberry-Pi-With-CODESYS/). That didn't do anything. 3. I ran the PLC on my computer instead of the Raspberry Pi and tried to connect to the EK1100, in case the issue was with the Raspberry Pi, but I still ran into the same error from the picture above: "Attention! The device was not found in the repository. Vendorcode: 0x0. Productcode: 0x0. Revision: 0x0". SEE FIFTH PICTURE 4. I reinstalled Codesys, I was originally on version 3.5 SP20 when I did this, I upgraded to 3.5 SP21 with no success. 5. I then thought the solution might be to first add the EK1100 hardware before connecting so I did the following: 6. Right click on "EtherCAT Master" on the left hand tree --> then click on "add device" --> then I added the "EK1100 EtherCAT Coupler (2A E-Bus)" MY THEORY OF WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM: I asked ChatGPT for help and it said that it might have something to do with the revision number. On the physical EK1100 it says "Rev. Nr.: 0018". I believe that this means that I need to a revision 0018 XML file but if you look in Codesys it says the version is 16 (picture above). This is confusing because I got my .XML file from the official Codesys website so it should be the most up to date version possible. I searched and I searched and I couldn't find a version 18 .XML file, I don't even now if this exists. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated, I don't know what to do anymore and I really really want to get this working. Thank you!

Post by struccc on Wish: CODESYSControl.cfg - again CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Before creating this topic, I was browsing the search results for CodesysControl.cfg - many results, and I remember very well, it's a problematic issue for a long time. To summarize: there were many requests for documentation on this file - the most comprehensive reply is: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/ebbf851a3d/#eb85 Hi, not really, this is covered by the manual which you get if you use a runtime toolkit which is not free of charge. Maybe we need to extract the config file part from that documentation if that is possible. BR Edwin I am not sure how much is this relevant, since we buy SL License directly from CODESYS... I think it is a reasonable demand, to get documentation on the configuration entries affecting the documented behaviour of the runtime system and it's components The actual reason I bring up this issue again can be read here: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/febad3cc40/#0e12 but mostly my frustration about noticing some new, unknown and undocumented entries in my configuration file. Again. And this happens a lot recently. Just some examples: Changes with SysFile - and mandatory use of IEC path Introduction of Mandatory user management File transfer service now disabled by default SysProcess - allowed commands The above mentioned CmpApp parameters... And finally (Regaridng windows install): With the newer versions, the installation directory (together with the configuration file) tends to hide itself to some super silly location under the roaming profile data of local system account. I am not sure if this change was documented somewhere, but was a very unpleasant one. Someone could please explain the reason and the concept of the introduction of this release specific directories (I am sure, there is a good reason) - how to use them properly? - How to re-introduce user configuration (to preserve configuration data between versions)? - How to do version - to version migrations properly? - How to keep old version of runtime available and ready to start with it's original configuration and application? - ... Therefore, the lack a regularly updated description of CodesysControl .cfg , including all the configuration entries, together with their default values for different runtime versions is really a big deficiency.* This should be done for all components storing or just seeking data from this file... (Maybe there is such thing but I failed to find???) It is regularly causing trouble when introducing a new version (together with the long awaited bug fixes and enhancements), what has changed it's default behaviour for security or other practical reasons. I agree this is very important, and it is logical to change the default options: But it must be documented historically, and make it easily available, so we can prepare better for the upgrade of the runtime. Forge talk is a great source, but not very practical for this kind of documentation purposes... Thanks in advance for CODESYS staff 🙏🙏🙏 (Ps.: It would look rather silly, if some members of the user community prepares this documentation on a Forge Wiki page... Or??? Should we?)

Post by ryandmg on Web Client (HMI) Disconnects from Webvisu (Weidmuller u-OS) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hey Everyone, I'm having a bit of a struggle finding settings that will reliably maintain a connection between the webvisu and a touchscreen client. Every so often the HMI disconnects and will perpetually display the red spinning arrow with the "Error Happened, Will resume automatically" text. Power cycling the HMI to force a reconnect will re-establish comms. It seems to happen during periods of inactivity if that's a clue. From what I've gathered so far this seems to have something to do with the webvisu update rate, buffer size as well as the visu task scan rate. We first tried the default settings as follows: Webvisu Update Rate: 200 ms Webvisu Buffer Size: 50,000 Visu Task Scan Rate: 100 ms Priority 31 Other Tasks for Reference: Main Task Scan Rate: 100 ms Priority 1 Alarm Manager Scan Rate: 50 ms Priority 31 Ethercat Task: 4 ms Priority 1 This would disconnect some what regularly. We then made the following changes to try and stabilize: Webvisu Update Rate: 150 ms Webvisu Buffer Size: 75,000 Visu Task Scan Rate: 75 ms Kept other tasks the same. This seems to disconnect even more frequently. Also for reference the network is very small and only consists of the PLC, a small switch and the HMI. We're also not controlling frames from outside the visu program itself. The frame changes are all done natively. Any suggestions to get this to stop disconnecting? Oh and whatever the issue is the log does not record it. Figured I would ask here before opening a ticket. Thanks in advance for your help!

Post by fmon on Modbus : dis- / re-connect cable: modbus does not re-start CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I am using codesys Modbus TCP client (4.4.0.0) to communicate with a python modbus server (package pyModbusTCP). I first start my python server on the distant machine. After a fresh codesys compilation, a plc connection/transfer and a PLC run, the modbus connection is OK. Every time in this context the connection is created correctly. When I shut down the server, the modbus connection falls, that is normal. When I restart the python server, impossible to recreate the modbus connexion. With the client autoreconnection, I see on my server that the client tries to connect but unsuccesfully. I have the following message : DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:accept new connection from ClientInfo(address='192.168.1.20', port=33476) DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:Exception during request handling: NetworkError('recv return null') I tried to stop the codesys client and to restart it with these commands : Modbus_TCP_Client.xStop := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Client.Enable := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Server.Enable := True; // Or False I tried to confirm the error manually to force reconnection with: Modbus_TCP_Server_Motors.xConfirmError := TRUE; I tried also this command to STOP/RESET/START client and server (codesys side) but nothing happens : status_client := Modbus_TCP_Client.SetCommunicationState(eRequestedState := DED.DEVICE_TRANSITION_STATE.STOP); // .RESET & .START The answer of this function when executed is "status_client = NOT_SUPPORTED" It seems that is a socket problem, but I do not understand if it is on the client or server side. I tried a modbus simulator called "ananas.exe" and the result is the same. Impossible to get a modbus reconnection. What is different at the first connection and at a reconnection attempt ? Thanks for your help

Post by jeindhoven on Deploying to raspberry pi 5 hangs CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Yep sure, though now that i think of it, its a pi 4. My bad. The whole ordeal was necessary to use the VGA666 adapter. That needs the old graphical system and GPIO directly on the CPU. Edit: Putty on the virtual development machine connects fine. But i did change the login/pw. The account is still a sudo'er so that should be all right. Edit2: Sorry i get a "Comment rate limit exceeded" from the forum. Then i'll add it as edit here. So i have tried the stock raspberry pi image on a different pi5 (truly 5 this time). Packages updated. Standard password. Same symptoms, no runtime deployed and long hang time. Versions of this pi: pi@raspberrypi:~ $ uname -a Linux raspberrypi 6.12.25+rpt-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.12.25-1+rpt1 (2025-04-30) aarch64 GNU/Linux pi@raspberrypi:~ $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Debian Description: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) Release: 12 Codename: bookworm pi@raspberrypi:~ $ apt list --installed | grep openssh-server openssh-server/stable,now 1:9.2p1-2+deb12u6 arm64 [installed,automatic] Attached is the Device information and error text that Codesys comes up with. Edit 3 (Comment rate limit, otherwise it would be a new post) Now i have tried booting an older native Windows 10 machine (no virtualization), and it just works as expected. I have now a raspberry pi 4 and raspberry pi 5 with version 4.16.0.0 of the control application. Windows 10 native: build 19045 (same as virtualised Win 10), same .NET version, same CODESYS version. It seems that running CODESYS virtualized somehow messes with the deployment?

Post by jami on Reading multiple lines from csv file CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, i am trying to read multiple lines from csv file with caa file library and oscat. I have wrote 7 lines in the csv with separation '$R$L'. In my "extracting values" part I check line feeds and chars. After that I convert my buffer to string with oscat but I'm only able to read the first line from the csv. No matter if I even change start position where I start converting the buffer, I only get the first line. Here's my code for the reading and extracting value parts: 4: (*Reading the file*) fileread.hFile := filehandle; fileread.pBuffer := ADR(buffer); filesize1:=SIZEOF (buffer); fileread.szbuffer:=filesize1; fileread.udiTimeOut := 100000; fileread(xExecute := TRUE); IF fileRead.xDone THEN iFilesize:=TO_INT(fileread.szSize); writestate:=3; fileRead.xExecute := FALSE; END_IF 5: (*Extracting values*) //here i check the number of line feeds and chars. It works WHILE i < ifilesize DO c:=buffer[i]; IF c= 10 THEN IF lineindex<=99 THEN lineIndex := lineIndex + 1; END_IF ELSIF c <> 13 THEN IF charIndex <= 1000 THEN charIndex := charIndex + 1; END_IF END_IF i := i + 1; END_WHILE // Here i convert the buffer to string and transfer it to filelines:ARRAY[0..99] of string[254]. trig(CLK:=BUTTON); IF trig.Q THEN fileLines[i2]:=oscat_basic.BUFFER_TO_STRING(PT:=ADR(buffer), Size:=TO_UINT(fileread.szBuffer), start:=TO_UINT(bufferStart), stop:=TO_UINT(filesize1)); i2:=i2+1; bufferstart:=bufferstart+80; END_IF If anyone has idea how to read multiple lines, it would be nice. Even if you have example codes that work, that would help a lot.

Post by gunstr on CODESYS control on RPi starts, shortly runs, then exits CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Thank you very much for the quick answer! The RPi hw were delivered last week so it's probably a resent version. I found an old scrapped board (2 years or so) with a broken GPIO that I tested with the same SD card image and with that board Codeys can run for the full 2h demo period without issues. Then I went back the the new board to test the 4.17.0.0 release but the installation fails... [INFORMATION] Standard output: create and install daemon [INFORMATION] Standard output: codesyscontrol started [WARNING] Unable to detect Raspberry Pi Architecture. Setting armv6l as default, you can change this through the settings panel. [INFORMATION] Standard output: codesyscontrol stopped [ERROR] Expected exit value of command failed: expected 0, received 1 [WARNING] Error setting the Raspberry Pi Architecture [ERROR] Error installing codesyscontrol Do you have any idea what could be the reason? I'm using an OS image including Python drivers for LCD and some I/O:s from last year to keep things stable, but also after upgrading with sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade I still get the same error Reverting back to 4.15.00 works fine: [INFORMATION] Standard output: create and install daemon [INFORMATION] Standard output: codesysedge started [INFORMATION] Successfully installed codesyscontrol [INFORMATION] Successfully started CODESYS Edge Gateway for Linux [INFORMATION] Successfully started CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL but as before the Codesys services stops after 30 seconds. And I noticed that the Codesys control stops and is not reachable also if I have no application loaded.

Post by micik on Using Codesys example problems CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello to all, I'm totally new to Codesys, but I do have some PLC programming experience, mosty with Siemens TIA and STEP7. I have just installed Codesys 3.5. sp19 and I have downloaded example with Ethernet Rockwell 1734AENT. The example can be found here: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/rockwell-1734-c/home/Home/ After opening, I had to manually update devices (Device, Ethernet, IP Scanner, EthernetIP adapter). However, when trying to build the project, I get the following errors: [WARNING] CODESYS_EtherNetIP_Rockwell1734AENT: Library Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: C0100: Library System_VisuElemXYChart has not been added to the Library Manager, or no valid license could be found [WARNING] CODESYS_EtherNetIP_Rockwell1734AENT: Library Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: C0100: Library system_visuinputs has not been added to the Library Manager, or no valid license could be found [ERROR] iodrvethernetip, 4.4.1.0 (3s - smart software solutions gmbh): ServiceCycle [IoDrvEtherNetIP]: C0040: Function 'ProcessUpdateConfigurationQueue' requires exactly '1' inputs [ERROR] iodrvethernetip, 4.4.1.0 (3s - smart software solutions gmbh): IoDrvStartBusCycle [IoDrvEtherNetIP]: C0040: Function 'GenerateRandomUINT' requires exactly '2' inputs [ERROR] iodrvethernetip, 4.4.1.0 (3s - smart software solutions gmbh): Cyclic [GenericServiceUnConnected]: C0040: Function 'GenerateRandomUINT' requires exactly '2' inputs [ERROR] cip object, 4.4.1.0 (3s - smart software solutions gmbh): ForwardOpenService [ConnectionManager]: C0040: Function 'GetAssemblies' requires exactly '3' inputs [ERROR] iodrvethernetipadapter, 4.4.0.0 (3s - smart software solutions gmbh): ServiceCycle [IoDrvEtherNetIPAdapter]: C0040: Function 'GenerateRandomUINT' requires exactly '2' inputs [ERROR] iodrvethernetip, 4.4.1.0 (3s - smart software solutions gmbh): SetupStructuredIOMapping [RemoteAdapter]: C0040: Function 'MallocData' requires exactly '1' inputs [ERROR] iodrvethernetip, 4.4.1.0 (3s - smart software solutions gmbh): SetupStructuredIOMapping [RemoteAdapter]: C0040: Function 'MallocData' requires exactly '1' inputs Compile complete -- 7 errors, 13 warnings Build complete -- 7 errors, 13 warnings : no download possible! What could be the reason for this errors and how to rectify them? Thank you!

Post by wildcard on Modbus Client Request Not Processed CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, does anyone has a solution for this issue. I've the same problem. I've implemented a very simple client based on the Modbus Examples and connected the soft PLC to a Modbus Simulator. PROGRAM ModbusClient VAR initDone : BOOL := FALSE; errorID : ModbusFB.Error; client : ModbusFB.ClientTCP; timeout : UDINT := 500000; replyTimeout : UDINT := 200000; aUINT : ARRAY [0..8] OF UINT; clientRequestReadHoldingRegisters : ModbusFB.ClientRequestReadHoldingRegisters; clientRequestsCnt : UINT := 0; clientRequestsProcessCnt : UINT := 0; ipAddress : ARRAY[0..3] OF BYTE := [10,54,0,72]; END_VAR IF NOT initDone THEN initDone := TRUE; client(aIPaddr:=ipAddress, udiLogOptions:=ModbusFB.LoggingOptions.All); client(xConnect:=TRUE, ); clientRequestReadHoldingRegisters(rClient:=client, udiTimeOut:=timeout, uiUnitId:=1, uiStartItem:=0, uiQuantity:=4, pData:=ADR(aUINT[0]), udiReplyTimeout:=replyTimeout); clientRequestReadHoldingRegisters.xExecute := TRUE; clientRequestsCnt := 0; END_IF clientRequestReadHoldingRegisters(rClient:=client, udiTimeOut:=timeout, uiUnitId:=1, uiStartItem:=0, uiQuantity:=4, pData:=ADR(aUINT[0]), udiReplyTimeout:=replyTimeout, xExecute := TRUE); IF clientRequestReadHoldingRegisters.xError THEN clientRequestsCnt := clientRequestsCnt +1 ; errorID := clientRequestReadHoldingRegisters.eErrorID; END_IF clientRequestReadHoldingRegisters(rClient:=client, udiTimeOut:=timeout, uiUnitId:=1, uiStartItem:=0, uiQuantity:=4, pData:=ADR(aUINT[0]), udiReplyTimeout:=replyTimeout, xExecute := NOT clientRequestReadHoldingRegisters.xExecute); When the system is running I do get the following on the logs: 2024-05-13T10:18:07.443Z: Cmp=MODBUS lib, Class=1, Error=0, Info=0, pszInfo= Client.RequestProcessed ClientRequest,16#0164ADC561A0 unitId=1 fc=ReadHoldingRegisters id=2070 state=Error 2024-05-13T10:18:07.443Z: Cmp=MODBUS lib, Class=1, Error=0, Info=0, pszInfo= ClientRequest,16#0164ADC561A0 unitId=1 fc=ReadHoldingRegisters id=2070 change state Error -> None timestamp=63843421226 2024-05-13T10:18:08.444Z: Cmp=MODBUS lib, Class=1, Error=0, Info=0, pszInfo= ClientRequest,16#0164ADC561A0 unitId=1 fc=ReadHoldingRegisters id=2071 change state None -> Init timestamp=63844421420 2024-05-13T10:18:09.444Z: Cmp=MODBUS lib, Class=1, Error=0, Info=0, pszInfo= ClientRequest,16#0164ADC561A0 unitId=1 fc=ReadHoldingRegisters id=2071 change state Init -> Error timestamp=63845421675 But the errorID is jumping between OK and RequestNotProcessed. Any help is very appreciated which gives me a hint what I'm doing wrong. Thanks
