In our application with CODESYS V3.5 SP19 Patch 5 and the Soft-PLC Name: CODESYS Control Win V3 x64 Typ: 4096 ID: 0000 0004 Version: 3.5.19.50 the application behaves differently when we start the application via CmpApp.AppStartApplication(pApp) than when we press the "Start" button in online mode in the IDE. Yes, this is the error the sometimes show up. What make me crazy is the fact that it happens randomly and not each times. I know very well where the problem is, in wich one program row it's located. For each actions of the state machine I have all events recorded with log on text file. it is not problematic for me to find the application point of the fault, but I need to understand why occasionally and for no apparent reason, switching the state machine and thus changing the motion FB, sends the axis into failure (but only occasionally). For example, one case that is often problematic is the execution of the Axis Halt instruction. When, after a MoveAbosulte instruction this returns the event as 'done' and indeed the axis is in standstill, the state machine first sets the move instruction to FALSE, and the next cycle sets the Halt request to TRUE. Some of the time everything works out fine. Occasionally, however, in this exchange, the axis goes into fault, also losing the OPERATIONAL state. Meanwhile, I would like to understand why the motion FB instances must still be called even after the Execute is set to FALSE, especially in view of the fact that the next instruction is programmed to abort the previous one, with BufferMode set to 'Aborting'. All these unnecessary FB calls are an unnecessary overhead on the CPU anyway. Is there any precise rule about when to cease calling the various instances? (It should precisely be the 'done' status that says this one has finished its work).

Hallo goodmorning, I am using codesys 3.5 sp19 with Weidmueller PLC. I created a page with several checkbox to manage an array of bool. When I build the project the system doesn't signal any error, when I go in simulation mode everything works until I click on checkbox to toggle the variables. Other visu elements works proprerly (e.g. bottons, lights, ect, ect) but the check boxes cause a crash giving the following error: Error while processing the visualization: Client id not present or no longer valid I serched to figure the problem out and to search a solution on the web but nothing. Hi, My problem is with raspberry pi 4 with 2 GB ram,. Install codesys is correct but runtime works only few seconds or I can connect with device few seconds. I can ping raspberry and in system info I can see " !!!! Warning: no runtime license - running in demo mode(~2 hours)" but it is 2 minutes after runtime. When I press Start runtime I have another few seconds when I can connect to raspberry. After this time I couldn't find device. Of course, reapet start runtime works every time on few second. Raspberry is new and works with fresh install raspberry os 32 bit. Where should I start looking for solve of my problem ?

Hello everyone, I'm currently trying to set up a FileTransfer function from a Webvisu to my Raspberry Pi 5 on Codesys 3.5 SP 19 Patch 6. I went in the files CODESYSControl.cfg and CODESYSControl_User.cfg and added : [CmpWebServerHandlerV3] AllowFileTransferServices=1 And it seems to be working. However, I cannot access my several Webvisu without putting my login. That's a problem because one of my webvisu is in kiosk mode on the raspberry itself and there is nokeyboard attached, it's just an information screen, but I can't view it. Is there a wey to enable the File Transfer without requiring to login ? Thank you for your time

I am relatively new to Codesys and I'm trying to develop an HMI that displays what mode a particular device is in based on an integer value. I am currently using dynamic texts with a text list which works fine but I am looking for a way to display a particular string (ie 'Unknown') when the index doesn't match any of of the indices in the text list. I can enter 'Unknown' in the text property of the text field element which works as expected but it displays the single quotes on the visualization. How can I escape these quotes to simply display the word Unknown? Thanks!

Hello everyone, I have the task of programming a map. With the help of the visualization element "Table", I have managed to accomplish this. In the Input Configuration, I activated the option: "Write Variables", so that the user can change the values in the map. To test the program, I select the Online Mode (Simulation).There I change the values in the map. When restarting the program in CODESYS, the changes in the map are no longer there. Hello, I have a PLC in a remote location. I can connect to it, but when I use a different PC, it asks me to re-download to the PLC - which will a) interrupt production and b) cause version issues. Codesys being open-source, if someone else has made changes, I need to be able to connect, upload the current project, compare it with mine and then decide what next. Every time I connect, it says Warning: An application 'Application' is currently in RUN mode on the PLC. As there is no matching compile information, this existing application needs to be replaced. Click 'Yes' to download the latest code or 'No' to abort. What am I doing wrong?

Hello all, Encountered an issue with my zero which seems to have happened after the 4.11 update. It now runs in demo mode (2hr) and I am trying to see what the appropriate steps are prior to contacting codesys directly. Background: I recently did a fresh install of w11 on my pc, so it seems "c:\ProgramData\CODESYS\Licenses\" only has information related to my pi5, which I licensed just this past Friday. I have all my license documentation about my rpi zero as far as the emails received, but when I try to claim using the ticket number it says its already been used, or something to that effect, which it was. Currently trying to perform device license reader, which is taking some time.

Hello everybody I want to controll a stepper driver from Leadshine (EM3E-556E). The EtherCat slave is CiA 402 compatible. Because of this I bought the Softmotion Light Package from Codesys and implemented it in my project. I rightclicked the EtherCat slave and added the Softmotion Light axis. But now the error message shows: "The license is missing or invalid. The PLC runs in demo mode." What have i done wrong? I use Codesys 3.5.17. Is it possible that the stepper driver is not compatible with the Softmotion license? Thanks for all your help

Hi! We're using a WAGO PFC200 for several projects towards the energy sector, and recently upgraded to CODESYS V3. We have the "IEC 60870-5-104 Server" package in a test program, and it works well with the package in DEMO mode. However, when we acquired a license for the "IEC 60870-5-104 Server" package and tried to add the license on the PFC200 through the license manager, we get an error (see attached file). It seems like there is no CmContainer on the device, does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? We've also contacted WAGO on this issue a while back with no feedback yet.

Thank you for an answer. Unfortunatelly, it doesn't work. The slave needs command byte as follows 0x22. It means expedited transfer where s-bit is not set, therefore data length is not specified. If I use segmented mode by CiA405.SDO_WRITE_DATA it produce command byte as follows 0x21 which is unfortunately supported by the slave and it returns with error 0x05040001 - SDO Abort Code -Client/server command specifier not valid or unknown. I can use CAN API low level to overcome this problem where it is possible to set 0x22 as a command byte, but than I can use user interface to set the communication probably, because I thing that machine expert uses library CiA405.SDO_WRITE for setting the slave. Or am I wrong?

Hello, i want to connect my automation server and i follow the steps as desribed in the video series(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiPKyyO4M00&list=PLaws15OZmd7Uu2W23zX2w424aI3TrOfHf) and also that guide (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Automation%20Server/_cas_add_plc_to_server.html). When i go to "Allow Edge Gateway configuration.." from the Codesys gateway Systray running i get the message in the attached picture, so i open the Gateway.cgf but the file doesn't contain an cmpedgegateway section as mentioned in the message. I have installed all the latest versions codesys and of the components mentioned in the guides. How can i solve that problem?

😁 Yes, exactly... I have a clue about the why not... But really, it was many years, releases ago... Agree, this is not a functionality customers would pay for, but it's one rendering the product cool and contemporary. Like many other "simple" features like: Opening multiple projects within the same IDE Not just attaching, but editing diverse files inside the IDE (like XML, TXT, SVG?) Use 3rd, CODESYS independent plugins, editors inside the IDE... Isn't it possible to integrate CODESYS Engineering under VS? Or just use the core functionality from VS? Or the LINUX guys have a better idea?

Dear forum, I currently have a big question mark above my head, and maybe this forum can shine some light on the situation. I recently updated to Codesys 3.15 SP19 Patch 6. And now I’m trying to setup the OPC-UA server, besides that I’m trying to connect to the controller with the Codesys V3 (Ethernet) protocol. OPC-UA I have installed the correct licenses on my controller (Runtime and communication). I’m able to connect to the controller with an OPC-UA client, and I’m able to browse the tags, so far so good. Therefore I’m assuming that the OPC-UA server is running on the controller. But now the strange part, in the device security settings I have set the communication Policy to BASCI256SHA256 ( I also have tried the other ones) and the communication mode is set to secure if possible (I also have tried all the other ones) (see picture). With these settings I would assume that I would only be able to login with a Basic256SHA256 policy with a client. But the opposite is true, I am able to login using the no policy mode and when I set it to Basic256SHA256 the client (UA-Expert) notes that this policy is not available on the server. I then check the certificates and I noted that there is no certificate for the OPC-UA server, I tried to generate one but it gave the error that the certificate has not been created by the device (See picture). To summarize I have no clue what is going on, and the controller does the opposite of what I would expect. Codesys Ethernet V3 driver I have a HMI connected to the same controller using the Ethernet V3 driver. But this will not connect. I tried all the Protocols (see picture), with and without the username and password enabled. But it will not connect, when I scan the available servers I can see the controller with the port number that I am expecting, so I’m assuming that the Codesys V3 ethernet driver is up on the controller. Does anyone can give me some direction, because the stuff that I tried doesn’t make sense to me. Thank you in advance

Thanks So Much for the reply! Were using the Weidmuller UV66-ADV-10-CAP-W The HMI is pointed to the URL which is assigned through u-OS. Basically when you log into the controller's webserver via browser you can view the installed apps. One of which is the Codesys runtime. When you click on that it takes you to the visualization. That corresponding url is what the HMI is looking for. I apologize I don't have that on hand as I'm in the office right now. I don't think I tried connecting using the port you mentioned and https in lieu of the u_OS URL. I can certainly try. Out of the box the u-OS is set for HTTP. Since we're isolated I havent changed that yet. When this has happened while logged on via chrome on my laptop, simply refreshing brings the visualization right back. In the case of the HMI in kiosk mode, we power cycle the HMI to force a reconnect, log back in u-OS and the visualization is back.

Hello, I was trying to create a redundancy POC for our application where we read data from few modbus tcp devices. As there is a limitaion that modbus tcp device support only for single master device, we wanted to test how the variable sync happens in redundancy mode. For that i have used the redundancy sample code added a variable "b" under a condition. What i observed was while active controller is running, if passive controller is powerup, passive controller is able to sync all the data configured for redundacny. But after that the variable data which resided under a condition is not synching from active to passive controller. I have attached the image where i have highlighter the variable. Can some help me to understand how redundacny work in codesys soft plc and if there is a solution to sync variable which are under condition, please explain the same or suggestion to achieve the same. Hardware - Raspberry Pi (2 qty) Redundancy licence used - yes in both controllers. Codesys runtime - 4.9.0.0 Codesys software version - V3.5 SP19 if i have posted this question in wrong section, please do let me know in whcih section i have to post this question.

Hello mates, I'm working with CODESYS V3.5 SP20 on a Raspberry Pi and I use "Raspberry Pi MC SL" as device on the project. I've installed the Control Standard L (multicore) license on a Wibu System usb-Dongle (cmStick/4.50) that already had another license from another vendor. I follow the online activation procedure from CODESYS documentation. Raspberry Pi has already CodeMeter installed for the other license. When I plugin the dongle on Raspberry and start the Runtime from Raspberry Pi Update in CODESYS I receive the message that I'm on Demo mode because the license is missing. I double checked that the license is activated in the dongle, through the WebAdmin of CodeMeter and the second license runs properly without any issue. I have already try to change the dongle from HID to MSD device and backward but the the Runtime cannot recognize the Dongle. I have also try to stop and start the Runtime through CODESYS without success. Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue?

I'm using CAD/CAM that outputs GCode with G01 many short segments from NURBS Curve, only X-Y axis. But CODESYS CNC motion seems much slower ( or stop-go motion ) in simulation mode than F-Value (I checked value from SMC_Interpolator - dVel ). In GCode G01, F value is F500, but movement is very slow, actual speed (dVel) is between 0 to 30 back and forth. I think very old CNC can move like that, but nowadays, a lot of CNC can move smoothly to process free curve ( somethimes option switch ) I tried to use G51 Dxx but I got the same result. My questions are 1) How do I improve CODESYS CNC motion in this case ? 2) How can I graph the sampling from dVel of SMC_Interpolate in CODESYS? I have a DFRobot RS485 temperature & humidity sensor (SEN0438) connected to my Raspberry Pi via a USB to RS485 adapter. I am able to connect and read the sensor data when running a python code locally. However in Codesys, I encounter this error "A bus error has occurred." and "There was no response in time". Could this be because of Modbus Server Channel and Modbus Server Init configuration on my part? Admittedly I am new to Codesys. To get to this stage, I: 1. added some lines to CODESYSControl_User.cfg 2. added "Modbus_COM" in Codesys and set "Serial Port Configuration" under "General" 3. added "Modbus_Master_COM_Port" in Codesys and checked transmission mode is set to "RTU" 4. added "Modbus_Slave_COM_Port" in Codesys and checked server address is set to 1 (also set 1 in my sensor) 5. added 1 channel and 1 init for "Modbus_Slave_COM_Port" under "Modbus Server Channel" and "Modbus Server Init"

I am running a runtime environment on an ARM A35 dual-core processor (1.5GHz) and have encountered some issues. The CPU load (both CPU0 and CPU1) occasionally spikes above 50% before returning to normal, and this happens around 2-3 times per minute. At the same time, I’ve noticed that the Max Cycle Time in the Codesys monitoring screen shows much worse performance compared to the A53 (1.2GHz), with nearly double the cycle time. The optimizations I have made so far are as follows: Set the CPU to performance mode. Isolated CPUs: CPU0 is dedicated to running Linux services and the runtime itself, while CPU1 runs the EtherCAT task and the MainTask. Despite CPU1 only running these two tasks, the utilization still increases above 50%, which I find unreasonable. Additionally, I performed tests using cyclictest both without and with the runtime running. The performance is shown in the following image: From the results, I believe the CPU performance should be fine, but I am unsure why the monitoring results are not as expected. The testing outcomes should ideally be as close as possible to the cyclictest results. Does anyone have related solutions to this issue?

Verify that the OPC UA server is running and accessible. -You can try to connect to the OPC UA server using a separate client, such as UAExpert, to ensure that the issue is not related to the OPC UA server itself. Test the security settings in the OPC UA connection function block to ensure that the correct security policy and certificate are selected. If you are using a dynamic connection to the OPC UA server, probe that the connection settings are correctly configured and that the OPC UA client is able to establish a connection to the OPC UA server. Also, please loock into the log files for any errors related to the OPC UA connection function block, these should be listet there. The log files may also provide additional information about the issue and help you to further troubleshoot the problem.
