It turns out that you can build JSON structures without ever calling the JSONBuilder function block directly. Instead, create a pointer to JSON.JSONData and invoke the necessary methods on its dereference. The parent object has a parent index of -1 (and an index of 0). EVERY other item (including keys, values, empty arrays and sub-objects) created by the setX methods needs the index to increase by 1. Then use the JSONByteArrayWriter FB to generate your JSON string

The message means that you (CODESYS) tries to open the function block, but this is not possible because the library which contains the FB is compiled. You either get this when you try to manually open the function block (while editing the application), but it could also happen that an exception occurs in the running application and CODESYS tries to show the location where it occured. If it happened in an FB of the compiled library, it cannot show this and you could get this message too.

Hello, This is my first time using Codesys, I am trying to add EtherNetIP communication to a Raspberry PI. I’ve added the EtherNetIP Adapter configured the network setting and added some modules to the pi but when I download the project it generates the following error: “There is no source code available for the object because it is in the compiled library ‘cip object, 4.5.1.0 (3s – smart software solution gmbh)’. Do you want to browse for the original library in order to display the source code? There are 2 errors in the log which are: SOURCEPOSITION App=[Application] area=3, offset=332760 EXCEPTION [Application] occurred: App=[Application], Task=[ENIPAdapterServiceTask] I can’t for the life of me work out how to get around this. I can’t find the source code anywhere or any information regarding this error. I’m using Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 3, the version of the Ethernet adapter is 4.5.1.0 and the version of the modules is 4.1.0.0. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm using the JSON Utilities SL library to write configurations in my program to a file. I'm generating the JSON data using the builder function block and all appears to work correctly. When I write the jsondata to file, I'm finding that some of the JSON elements are not being written in the right location in the file. Rather than writing they keys under the parent object, they get written outside the root JSON object at the end of the file. If I then try to read the file back into the program, I get an invalid_structure error. I don't get any errors when populating the JSON data or when writing the file. I attached an example of the JSON writer output. The problems begin with key P200. Each P200 should go under MBR1 through MBR3. Among the rest of the keys, they are supposed to be under different parent objects. I am using default values for wsLineBreak and encoding.

I have a project with a Festo CPX-E-CEC-C1-PN PLC (Run-time version 3.5.12.50) that I have been developing on just fine using Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 5 (64bit). I am at the stage where I wanted to use the Festo HMI screen, and have added a RemoteTargetVisu object to my application. After adding this object, I am no longer able to log in to the PLC as I get an Unresolved Reference warning for 'USERMGRUSERGETPROPERTY' towards the end of the download process. I was able to find this post (https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Visualization/thread/fc686a6cb2/) where the two possible solutions are to "set the placeholder to emtpy" or update the runtime. Problem is, I don't know how to do either of these things, as I'm still very green in Codesys land. I'd be happy to update the Festo PLC runtime, as that seems like the better option, but have not had any luck in finding a tutorial for this online. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Hi I am trying to import a custom information model that I created using UA Modeler. I have only added two new methods and two new object types. It is possible to add the information model to the Communication Manager and the two new object types are shown in the Information Model tab. After compiling i get the following error: Communication Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: The information model http://opcfoundation.org/UA/ is required by http://yourorganisation.org/Bsp_3.1/ with a minimal publication date from 15.12.2023 but the device has only a model from 15.09.2021 installed. Probably the information model from 15.09.2021 is missing in the information model repository. The error message does not make sense to me. Should it not be “Probably the information model from 15/12/2023 is missing in the information model repository”? Anyway I have installed the information model from 15/12/2023 but not from 15/09/2021. Which makes the error message even stranger.

Hello, I hope someone could help me. I installed the newest Codesys 3.5 SP 20 Patch 1. When loading the demo files from @i-campbell I can upgrade them to the latest version and everthing works on the OPC-UA client side as expected (object "a" is visible, I can use the "ExampleMethod"). Now I * remove the "Information Model", * delete the "OPC_UA_Symbols Objects", * Add "Information Model" again * add "TestRootObjectType" again and "Generate IEC declarations" * and search for mapped instances (to get instance "a" again) Very good still working as expected. Now I delete the OPC_UA_Symbols and add it again referring to the "objecttest" from 16.9.2020. Also I redo the steps from above. The result is now, that I can't see the "a" object in the "Root/Objects" folder. Why ist this and how can I make it running? I think, it could may be a different version of the UA configuration file. I tried to build my own model definition files and got the same problem (but I am really not an expert). When someone has a actual model, which is also running in the actual Codesys I would be very grateful. Or even better, how to make the correct model in e.g. UA Modeler SW (I followed the description https://documentation.unified-automation.com/uamodeler/1.6.0/html/howprojnet_sec.html).

Hello, I have a question: Once the command is being executed, is there a way to kill it again? As the called application is running in the background, the user can't close it but it shall be closed/terminated, commanded by codesys. I have tried with "SysProcessTerminate" but I guess this is not correct as the RTE crashes when this function is called. Hallo, I have a strange problem with the recipe manager. ISSUE: When using RecipeManCommands not all values are loaded correctly. Saving a recipe with CreateRecipe(), ReadAndSaveRecipe() or ReadAndSaveRecipeAs() works without any problems. BUT: LoadRecipe(), WriteRecipe() or LoadFromAndWriteRecipe() do not load the data correctly. It is Interesting that we have a different error pattern with LoadRecipe() than with WriteRecipe() or LoadFromAndWriteRecipe(). LoadRecipe() does not load all data and WriteRecipe() or LoadFromAndWriteRecipe() overwrites some data or assigns it incorrectly. And it is also strange that LoadRecipe() writes the values to the PLC. Normally it doesn’t do it. It makes no difference whether the memory type is textual or binary. I have an object consisting of STRUCTs which is inserted in the recipe definition. Environment: Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 4 (64Bit), Recipe Management 4.2.0.0 *Add a project (reduced to the problem)

Hello. In Codesys version 3.5.19.50 when comparing two projects that have an "Alarm Configuration" obj from the Alarm Manager library vers. 4.5.0.0 the attached error pops up. This originally happened with two projects that I converted from vers. 3.5.17.30 so, thinking it was some conversion issue, I created two clean projects directly in 3.5.19.50 using the Standard Project template and only added the Alarm Configuration objects in them. The result is the same and the only way I found that allowed me to compare them is by deleting the incriminated object in one of the two projects. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Best regards

Hi Jack, I think you have to look at a FB in a different way. A Function block (Class) can contain its own data. In other words don't define loose data in your GVL, but define a instance of a FB (Object) in your GVL: Example: Function_Block Basic_Class VAR_INPUT Open_Command: BOOL; END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT Opened: BOOL; END_VAR if Open_Command then Opened := TRUE; ELSE Opened := FALSE; END_IF Global Variables Objects: ARRAY[1..100] OF Basic_Class; //Here you ar defining you objects END_VAR In your code you can directly acces the data and couple it to the IO: GVL.Objects[1].Open_Command := %IX0.0; %QX0.0 := GVL.Objects[1].Opened; //To call the code itself use: GVL.Objects[1](); If you want to take this a step further you are also able to add methods and properties to the FB/Class end thereby creating a OOIP program

Dear all, I've just started to migrate some of my ancient projects to SP20. There is one strange error (?) I have noticed so far. But now, the expression Add_EVT_OUT := 0; gives an error: [ERROR] DB_WTP_370: Add_EVT_ACK MSG_TRIGGER_EXT: C0032: Cannot convert type 'BIT' to type 'REFERENCE TO FB_MSG' Naturally... I can write: Add_EVT_OUT := DWORD#0; But is this the correct way? Is there any constant I could use instead, like "NULL"? Or this is totally wrong and to be avoided?

Hi k2saki, I would recommend to have a look at SMC_SmoothMerge, followed by SMC_SmoothPath. SmoothMerge will combine the small G1 elements to longer splines, SmoothPath will avoid stops between the splines. https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_CNC/Current/SM_CNC_POUs/SoftMotion-CNC/SoftMotion-Function-Blocks/SMC_SmoothMerge.html For SmoothMerge to work, you have to configure a tolerance, i.e. by how much it may deviate from the lines. Hello, I'm trying to connect with a Wago TP600 HMI but without success. I'm using codysis 3.5 SP19 patch 7 (SP20 block all the time) and the official wago package is installed. However, when I scan and select my device, I get a message saying that the device doesn't match the project's device object with the possibility to update the device (as shown in the attached picture). however, after choosing to update i got a message that the device is not found. I've tried with a new empty project but the same results. do you have any ideas? Thanks.

Is there anybody can help me with the same problem? I have to migrate created project in ver.3.5.17.0 32BIT with runtime 4.7.0 to ver.3.5.20.0 64BIT with runtime 4.7.11.0 due to the new license. All the libraries and dependencies are updaded and there are no any errors. The first compilation and loading to the controller is being compleated well. After this being done and if I am forced to change any values or change any code in the current project, another compilation will be freezed. This problem can be solved if pressed Build/cleen or cleen all. There is another method to solve this; if project is loaded with excluded object (Alarm Configuration), repeated compilations will be done well.

Hi everybody, recently I was checking how many time consuming manual tasks I can perform with python scripts through ScriptEngine. I have in the project many devices and currently I export bootprojects for them by right clicking on Application, then go Export -> Bootproject and firmware (SD Card) and then point folder where files should be exported. It's fine if project has few devices, but I have some of them with over 30 devices and manual clicking like that is very time consuming. How can I do it with python script? So far I found "create_boot_application" method from Application object (taken by projects.primary.find('Application', True)) but it only generates .app and .crc file instead of full structure to store on SD card (FIRMWARE, USERDATA, SDCARD.INI, Version, Version.txt.sig). Hello everyone, I have a very simple program for the process, but it's driving me crazy and I can't see the problems I'm left with: Short topological description: Dual Core Berghof controller with softmotion runtime version 3.5.19.30; Two axes with servodrive on canopen bus, clocked distributed from master; Ethercat I/O node; 2 ms ethercat task, 2 ms canopen bus cycle time; I/O objects of the canopen master and canopen drives connected to the ethercat task cycle; Problem 1: Two separate programs each manage their own axis and drive, with separate state machines. A first axis moves primarily in velocity, except having to position itself absolutely at a predetermined point at the end of the job; the second axis, on the other hand, is a paper unwinder that changes, for each job cycle, from actions in absolute, relative, and cam displacement with the master axis. Done a little diagnostics it seems that the FBs return the bDone, before they are completely terminated. I tried doing the machine state exchange not with the bDone bit of the FBs, but with the 'standstill' state of the axis. It didn't seem to change anything. Problem 2: During the use SM3_ReinitDrive() I get the erro in the log: "NetID 0: SDO read error for object 16#607C..." Assuming that the device involved it's one of the two servodrive, (no others device are present in the network), I don't found any object 0x607C in the 'possible object list in/out' of the two drive, and I don't understand where this object can be listed. So any ideas and suggestions regarding these two issues will be very, very welcome. If you need the source project, I am willing to send it.

However I feel main documentation is lacking. For example, where can I find that object has "is_device" attribute? Of course I need to remove check: if treeobj.is_device: But simply removing this test condition will not produce what I want. Hi, I'm experiencing a bug with the latest version of SoftMotion CNC library (4.17), where the 3DPath object in Visu is missing all the important properties. I've verified that a previous app I was working on with library version 4.16 did not have this issue and the issue is duplicated in that project when I update it to 4.17. I've already submitted a bug report, but for the time being I need to revert the project I'm currently working on back a revision. I've tried right clicking on the library but the option to select the version is greyed out. Can anyone help me?
