Hi all! I'm trying to learn PLC Programing. Today I was making a simple PLC program, as you can see. When I compile the program without the visualization, there are no errors. However, when I add the visualization and then compile it, I get this error. I don’t know how to solve the problem. I have tried the following solutions: rebooting the PC and updating the software. would be great to have such fucntionality. Sometimes it is not clear for user which elemetns are blocked and which are not - the greyed out eleemtns are not so different for low resolution / low quality screeens. What I have in my mind as well is to have a possibility to detect the visu Element clicked on and get its Access Rights. If it is blocked/deactivated, the dialog can be rised with INFO 'please login first with proper rights'. It is possible now to have a Mose event Handler ( Examples -> EventHandler) and rise the dialog out of ST (Exapmpals -> ST Dialogs). I am struggling still with getting the separate Visu Element under the mouse and its structure info

Hello everyone, I created a new sandbox image on the D drive with Codesys Installer. However, when I launch the IDE from this image, it gives the error shown in the attached image. -- Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch7. -- The installer is the latest (2.5.0). -- All packages in the installer were updated to the latest version as of today when creating the sandbox. -- The originally installed IDE on the C drive does not give this error when launched. -- I last upgraded it to Softmotion 4.20.1.0 through the installer. Then on the other PC Open the installer and install a new version based on the same essentials version, but additionally select the export file which you have created on the first PC. Or just install (import) it within the already existing version. Hi! I'm having trouble connecting to a device in Deploy Control SL. I'm able to see the device is available during a scan, and I can ping the device as well, but when I try to connect I get the message "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it". I've worked on this for hours including turning off the firewall on the device PC but nothing seems to work. The device is running a fresh install of Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 2024 and the Development System is 3.5.21.50 running on Windows 11. Thank you in advance for any ideas!

I have gathered more information that might help: Device: ABB AC500 PM556-TP-ETH Firmware version: 2.4.2.14993 (dated 2014) Open ports confirmed: 502 (Modbus TCP), 1200 and 1201 (CODESYS runtime). SSH (22) and HTTP (80) are not reachable. No SD card in the PLC. I can connect via Automation Builder using the current IP and Online Login works, but I have no original source project available. Automation Builder requires a full PLC download to apply IP changes, which we want to avoid as it would overwrite the running program. Any guidance on how to change the IP without a full download would be greatly appreciated. I am also open to solutions using third party tools, DCP protocol, or scripts. Thank you

Sorry, I've never used Raspy. Maybe someone else can help. From personal experience, I've had license activation issues, but it was caused by my company firewall, which was blocking traffic from the Codesys license server. So I found that the license was listed as activated on the server (and therefore used and no longer activable), but it wasn't present in the PLC. I solved the problem by using an unblocked internet connection when I needed to activate the purchased license ticket. Since then, the activation process has always worked, and I've never lost any licenses.

I want to programmatically write the alias address to a new EtherCAT slave when I plug it into my IPC EtherCAT network. I am looking at the ReadWriteEEprom FB and see that one of the elements is "pbyData". which is the pointer to byte that is usually set to 2048 bytes. Since I am setting the alias address to the EEprom only (EEprom address 16#0012), I would assume that what I am writing is 2 bytes only. Does the pbyData have to be specified as ADR(myArray) where "myArray" is the 2 bytes of the alias address? How is the best way to set this element of the function block? Thanks in advance

This is why we are afraid of doing a full download, as it would overwrite the running application. Is there any way to change the IP through the CODESYS runtime protocol on ports 1200/1201 without affecting the running program?"

Hello. I have a task to synchronize the movement of two axes and maintain the distance between them. First axe makes equal steps by trigger using MC_MoveRelative function. The second one is standstill and after another signal should catch up the first one from its position to a specified distance and keep it. I've tried to use MC_Phasing and mostly it works. Second axis catches up the first and starts make step with it. But in one moment this axis can crash into the first and there is no clear connection as to why this is happening. It can work correct for a day or for a week.

Hi, I'm trying to launch a continuously running python script from Codesys and monitor the script status inside the Codesys runtime (running on a Linux enviroment). For now I'm testing with the below to emulate a continuously running Python script: #test.py i = 0 while True: i += 1 I'm able to successfully run the script using SysProcessExecuteCommand2 (I can see the Python process running in the task manager). However, this "freezes" the Codesys execution of the task - it sits on that command and will not continue until the Python script ends. I've proven this works by using the task monitor to kill the process, then Codesys continues on happily through the task. What I want to do is use SysProcessCreate2 to set up the Python script as a background task and monitor the process using SysProcessGetState. This always results in the error "ERR_OPERATION_DENIED". I know that I'm able to execute commands (as above), so my config should be correct. Is SysProcessCreate2 functional on a Linux environment? Is there something in the config file I'm missing? Hi, I found the same issue, and I fixed with this steps: 1st go to codesys .cfg file. sudo nano CODESYSControl.cfg Then insert this: [SysProcess] BasePriority=Realtime Command=AllowAll Now we need to grant codesys root rights on Linux. Step 1: Create or edit the systemd override configuration: sudo systemctl edit codesyscontrol In the editor that opens, insert: [Service] User=root Save and exit: Press Ctrl+O to save Press Ctrl+X to exit Step 2: Reload systemd and reboot To apply the override: sudo systemctl daemon-reexec sudo systemctl daemon-reload sudo reboot Step 3: Confirm CODESYS is running as root After reboot, open the terminal and run: ps aux | grep codesyscontrol You should see something like: root 1234 ... /opt/codesys/bin/codesyscontrol.bin ... If instead it shows admin or another user, the override was not applied correctly. Dear All, This is regarding Codesys Virtual control SL demo version. I am facing one issue. First I will describe the steps what I have followed till now. 1. In a PC I have Windows OS. Here Codesys IDE is installed, and also using the installer option of IDE I have also installed Codesys Virtual control SL. 2. A edge-gateway is also running in the same windows PC as local host. 3. Next I have a seperate PC with Ubuntu OS with docker installed. This machine is in the same network. 4. Now I have created a project in Windows machine using device "Codesys Virtual control SL". 5. In the Ubuntu machine I am running the Codesys Virtual control SL as docker and it is using the ubuntu machine network only. 6. Next using the localhost edge-gateway when I am searching the virtual control SL docker it is able to detect it. (screenshot attached) 7. But after creating the creadentials it is telling No Device is responding. 8. I have also checked the wireshark logs and able to see that in destination port 11740 data is coming. 9. From windows PC telnet ip 11740 is also working. 10. Thank you very much for the quick answer! The RPi hw were delivered last week so it's probably a resent version. I found an old scrapped board (2 years or so) with a broken GPIO that I tested with the same SD card image and with that board Codeys can run for the full 2h demo period without issues. Then I went back the the new board to test the 4.17.0.0 release but the installation fails... Dear @gseidel, Thank you for your clarification. I fully agree that the quadratic ramp type may have certain technical advantages. However, the main problem is backward compatibility and consistency across projects. In many automation projects, application developers rely on the fact that creating a new axis object will behave exactly the same way as in previous versions. With SoftMotion V4.18.0.0 and later, if an application developer adds an axis and overlooks the changed default, the motion function blocks behave differently than expected. In particular, since the Jerk value in SM3_Basic function blocks is ineffective in trapezoid ramp type, users are accustomed to leaving this parameter empty in their projects. In many existing projects, this variable has not even been assigned. When the default is changed to quadratic, the Jerk parameter suddenly becomes relevant, which can cause errors or unexpected behaviour in the field. From a user perspective, a default setting should always be the “safe” and “expected” option, while alternative options (like quadratic) can be selected manually if desired. Keeping the default as trapezoid ensures compatibility with existing projects and prevents unexpected issues, while still allowing users to benefit from quadratic ramps if they explicitly choose so. For these reasons, I kindly ask you to reconsider making trapezoid the default again. This would significantly reduce the risk of unexpected behaviour in future projects while still preserving the advantages of the quadratic ramp type for those who actively select it. Hi all, I’m currently trying to improve my OOP structure in CODESYS and I’m looking for some input on how others approach this. I understand the basics like inheritance, interfaces, abstract FBs, methods, and properties, but I still struggle a bit with the overall architecture and what’s considered clean or scalable in bigger projects. As an example, I’m working on two different energy meter function blocks: FB_EnergyMeter_MQTT reads data from MQTT (strings) FB_EnergyMeter_Modbus reads data from Modbus (words) Both have their own Update() method and implement the same interface (something like IF_EnergyMeter). Later on, I’ll probably add more meter types, but they should all behave the same from the controller’s point of view. Now, there’s a FB_GridControl block that needs power data from these meters. I see two options here: Define the meter blocks inside FB_GridControl and call them directly (for example fbModbusMeter.UpdateModbus()). Keep the meter blocks outside and pass them into FB_GridControl as interface references, so the control block doesn’t know which specific type of meter it’s dealing with. Option 2 feels cleaner and more flexible to me, but I’m not entirely sure how to handle the data flow in that case. Should I pass the meter instance through an interface reference (REFERENCE TO IF_EnergyMeter)? Or is there a better way to link the external FBs to the control block? I’d like to hear how you structure this kind of setup or see an example from someone who has done something similar. Dear forum, We are currently doing some research on the Codesys KNX implementation (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-knx-sl.html). We almost have it working but we are missing the last part. The setup: We have a Codesys virtual control container running on docker (4.17.0.0), the I/O is running over an Ethernet IP coupler (Weidmüller), and this is running fine. As far as I’m concerned this tells me that the ethernet device is working properly (the container has access to the outside world, including multicast). Underneath this ethernet adapter the KNX module is added (see picture). In the KNX device (Codesys) 2 input variables are added (see picture), and these are exported to ETS (ETS 5). In ETS A Codesys KNX device has been imported and the Codesys export was imported, afterwards the group addresses are attached to the variables (see picture). Afterwards this configuration is downloaded to the Codesys controller (Container) via ETS. ETS asks for the pressing of the programming button, when the virtual programming button is pressed the download starts and finishes without any errors. This tells me that ETS is communicating with the Codesys controller, and that the download process is ok (so far so good). Now the part where we are struggling with, somehow we need to convert the KNX TP to KNX IP. For this we have the following interface: Zenio KIPI SC (https://www.zennio.com/product/kipi-sc/) this is a KNX TP to IP interface. We have the following setup for this device (see picture) (an IP in the same subnet is used). We tried multiple combinations of IP addresses but the TP devices are simply not communicating to the Codesys container. Does anyone has any advice on what to try next. To make the question more explicit how can we link the TP bus to the Codesys device? Kind Regards Alex
