We are working on a project and the customer required 3.5.16 BF4. After working on the project for a few weeks I opened it the next morning and it could not access libraries. IecVarAccess could not be accessed. I checked if windows updated - it did not. So no explanation for why it lost access other than that I shut down the computer for the night. Note that I am using a demo license. I still haven't figured out any reason to purchase a license. So I spent the next hour reinstalling CodeSys. Note that I did NOT uninstall first. After install I waited another 5 minutes for it to open the first time. I clicked File->Open to open the project. Previously I had selected File->Recent Projects - not sure if that makes and difference. But after this process it did open the project and compile it just fine. This is miserable. If this had happened when I went on site to a customer I would have lost hours of work doing the reinstall. Is there a different and quicker fix?

So here's how: I manually installed the following packages: codemeter-lite_8.30.6885.501_amd64.deb codesyslicenseserver_licenseserver_4.18.0.0_all.deb codesyswbmbase_wbmbase_4.18.0.0_all.deb codesyswbmlicensing_wbmlicensing_4.18.0.0_all.deb Of course, the license server appeared immediately. Trying to install it again using Install in the Deploy tab, the same error appears. Of course, the information that such a server is already installed is also there. Configuring PLC, S_PLC, EDGE, and SAFE_TIMER_PROVIDER went smoothly, and basically everything works. I wrote a simple program for S_PLC. I'm loading the programs into PLC and S_PLC. When loading the program into S_PLC, a message appears stating that there is no connection to the S_PLC controller. Timeout error. Restart the controller, attempt to load, and see the above. After changing the cycle time for S_PLC to 50ms, the problem no longer occurs. My question, besides the difficulty of installation for a new user, is what causes the cycle time for S_PLC to be so long, and how can I fix it?

Codesys V3.5 SP21 Patch 3 Codesys HMI 3.5.21.30 I'm trying to connect to an OPC UA server on a Kuka robot controller using Codesys HMI's data source manager. I get through the login phase and the client browses most of the data structure on the server but errors out toward the end with a generic: Error while browsing the client, Failed with service result: BadUnexpectedError. If I complete the data source setup and try to update variables, I get the attached stack trace for the error. I've tried several different endpoint and security options. Most get me through the login but all error out while browsing. UA Expert happily connects and browses with the same configuration. I've connected this same version of Codesys to TwinCAT OPC UA servers and Siemens PLC OPC UA servers. Any ideas on what may be causing the generic BadUnexpectedError during OPC UA server browse?

Before this upgrade all worked fine. Perhaps I'm missing something or I didn't understand how to use placeholders at all. Is there a different syntax to use for "SysFileOpen" in order to use placeholders? SUMMARIZED VERSION OF QUESTION: I'm trying to connect a Raspberry Pi running "Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi" to a Beckhoff EK1100, unfortunately, when I try to connect I get the following messages SEE FIRST PICTURE DETAILED VERSION OF QUESTION: Hi everyone, I'm a college student that is super interested in learning about PLCs. I wanted to dive into the subject and decided to follow this great Instructables article: https://www.instructables.com/Programming-Raspberry-Pi-With-CODESYS/ Thank you in advance for your help! My current setup is as follows: 1. I have Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi, version 4.14.0.0, (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-control-for-raspberry-pi-sl.html) installed on a Raspberry Pi 3B. 2. I am using my smartphone hotspot to create a network. 3. I have CODESYS 3.5 SP21 (64 bit) installed on my Windows 11 laptop. 4. Both the Raspberry Pi and my laptop are connected to the smartphone hotspot network (I am wirelessly connecting to the Raspberry Pi). Connecting to the Raspberry Pi from CODESYS on my laptop: 1. I launch Codesys Installer -> I install Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi (link to the software). 2. I launch Codesys 3.5 SP21 (64 bit) on my laptop. 3. I go to file --> new project --> standard project --> in the pop-up I select "Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi" and "Structured Text" 4. I click on tools -> Deploy Control SL (on older versions of Codesys you would click on "update Raspberry Pi", I got that information from this video: link) 5. Inside Deploy Control SL --> I go to the "communication" menu and I input the IP address of my Pi, the password, and click on connect. 6. Inside Deploy Control SL --> I go to the "deployment" menu and I install Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi SL and Codesys Edge Gateway for Linux 7. Now I double click on "device" in the left hand tree and put in the IP address of my Raspberry Pi and click on connect --> success! I am able to connect! SEE SECOND PICTURE Powering the EK1100 and connecting it to the Raspberry Pi: 1. I am supplying the EK1100 with 24 V across the + and - pins. 2. I have jumper wires going from the + pin to the 24V pin and from the - pin to the 0V pin. SEE THIRD PICTURE 4. I am pretty confident that the EK1100 is receiving power because the "LED Us 24 V" and "LED Up 24 V" are lighting up. 5. I then run an ethernet cable from the EK1100 to the Raspberry Pi port (the Raspberry Pi is connected to my laptop wirelessly over WiFi). I think this connection should also be good since the LINK/ACT LED lights up. Trying to connect to the EK1100: 1. Back in Codesys I right-click on "Device" in the left tree and then in the pop up I click on "add device". 2. I then click on EtherCAT Master. 3. Next in a terminal window I SSH into the raspberry Pi and run the "ifconfig" command. 4. From there I get the MAC address for eth0 --> in my case: b8:27:eb:29:a9:25 5. Then, back in Codesys I double click on "EtherCAT Master" in the left hand tree. I then paste the MAC address into the "Source Address (MAC)" field. 6. I go to the Beckhoff official website and download the XML files for EtherCAT: https://www.beckhoff.com/en-en/products/i-o/ethercat-terminals/ek1xxx-bk1xx0-ethercat-coupler/ek1100.html? 7. I unzip those files in my computer into some folder that I can remember. 8. Back in Codesys I click on "Tools" --> "Device Repository" --> "Install" --> and then on the "Beckhoff EK11xx.XML" file. 9. In theory the necessary XML file is now installed. 10. THIS IS WHERE I RUN INTO THE PROBLEM: I then click on login --> I right click on EtherCAT_Master and then scan for devices --> and nothing. 11. It just doesn't detect it. On top of this whenever I login I get those orange triangles on the left on my tree. When I check the Log I get the messages at the very first screenshot of this post. SEE FOURTH PICTURE Solutions that I have tried to resolve this problem: 1. I thought it was maybe the .XML file so I installed all the .XML files from the EtherCAT folder that I downloaded. That didn't fix it. 2. I went on the Wayback Machine and got the .XML files from 2018 as I thought maybe an older version would work. This file of EtherCAT folders had a .XML file named "Beckhoff EKxxxx.XML" I thought this would work because that's the name of the file the guy in the Instructables used (https://www.instructables.com/Programming-Raspberry-Pi-With-CODESYS/). That didn't do anything. 3. I ran the PLC on my computer instead of the Raspberry Pi and tried to connect to the EK1100, in case the issue was with the Raspberry Pi, but I still ran into the same error from the picture above: "Attention! The device was not found in the repository. Vendorcode: 0x0. Productcode: 0x0. Revision: 0x0". SEE FIFTH PICTURE 4. I reinstalled Codesys, I was originally on version 3.5 SP20 when I did this, I upgraded to 3.5 SP21 with no success. 5. I then thought the solution might be to first add the EK1100 hardware before connecting so I did the following: 6. Right click on "EtherCAT Master" on the left hand tree --> then click on "add device" --> then I added the "EK1100 EtherCAT Coupler (2A E-Bus)" MY THEORY OF WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM: I asked ChatGPT for help and it said that it might have something to do with the revision number. On the physical EK1100 it says "Rev. Nr.: 0018". I believe that this means that I need to a revision 0018 XML file but if you look in Codesys it says the version is 16 (picture above). This is confusing because I got my .XML file from the official Codesys website so it should be the most up to date version possible. I searched and I searched and I couldn't find a version 18 .XML file, I don't even now if this exists. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated, I don't know what to do anymore and I really really want to get this working. Thank you!

Hi guys, Recently, I am working at the Dynamic I/Os mapping feature in Ecockpit or Codesys v3.5. I have been trying the libraries. However, it looks like it will not work as I wanted. I want to build the PLC which can detect all the I/Os itself and from there, I can do something on these channels. For example, the current setup is one digital input card, one digital output card and one analogue input card. Then, I want to add one more card into the setup e.g. one more digital input. Then, wago screen can detect this and we can assign them to tasks for example to control digital output. May I know is it possible ? Kind regards

I am attempting to place a block and make it an Analog sensor. When I go to change the name like in the instructional video on youtube it does not give me an option to autofill the block with a known configuration. This is a problem I have in Codesys 2.5 and 3.5. Did I mess up the install of the program or need to install a library? Hi there! I'm using eCockpit WAGO software to develop HMI's for multiple projects. As I recently starting this, my knowledge on the software is somewhat limited (so maybe my question is a simple one). For most of my projects I can simulate the application and start it to test the code and HMI. However for two projects, I can initiate the "simulation activation" but I cannot start it. Nothing happens when I press start and the visualization shows "The online visualization is waiting for connection. please start the application". - I don't see any errors in the messages - Initially the project are made by a colleague, which moved on. I guess I'm forgetting something, like missing a setting. I appreciate any help I can get. If you need more information to help me out, let me know. Thanks!

I have a project with several buttons and dialogs. Most of the dialogs are opened using the Open Dialog action of the Input configuration of the buttons. Some dialogs are openend using the FbOpenDialogExtended FB of the Visu Utils library and the FbOpenDialogExtended FB is called in the Execute ST-Code action. I am also using the FileOpenSave dialog from Visu Dialogs which requires an OnDialogClosed action to read out. I realized that the OnDialogClosed action which is meant for the FileOpenSave dialog also triggers if a dialog is closed, which was previously openend using the FbOpenDialogExtended FB. Is there a way to detect which dialog was closed last and specify to which dialogs the OnDialogClosed action reacts?

Hello, I´m connected to two drives via CANOPEN. The connection seems to be ok. However, I´m not able to get the PDOs to work even tho they are configured as in the manual of the drives. Looking at the SDOs I´ve seen that for each PDO there is a "Disable PDO" SDO that does not exist in the manual or in the EDS file of the drives. This "Disable PDO" signal has the same Index and Subindex as another SDO used to set and enable the COB-ID of the PDO. I´m assuming this is normal but why is Codesys creating a "Disable PDO" SDO for each PDO and could that be the reason the PDOs are not working?

Hi I am about to configure ALL GPIOs on a Raspberry Pi 3 model B V1.2. It seems that I have limited understanding of why not all the IO’s become available with the corresponding mapped IO’s – the 'dwInUse' contains mapping of the inputs from GPIO0 to GPIO27. But 'dwInputs' are only showing GPIO0 to GPIO8 and GPIO15 as available inputs. Hi, I tried posting in the discussion for the HTTP Client example but perhaps that is not monitored? I have been using http client successfully for approximately 12 months, however in recent weeks I have begun to get TCP_INIT_ERROR when attempting to communicate. The only resolution seems to be power cycling and then the connection begins to work again for a time. I am not aware of any changes to code or libraries between working ok and now. Cold reset does not resolve, only power cycle. It seems the error from NBS.TCP_Client is 6002 which I think is invalid_addr However the address is the same when working and not working?

I am using a Raspberry Pi 2B. Installed Codesys V3.5.20.1 64-bit and installed 'CODESYS Control for Raspberry PI 4.12.0.0' I am able to install the packages using the 'Update Raspberry Pi' option, but when I try to log into the RPi, in the Device tab it says 'Sacn fail. Please checl that the gateway is running and that its settings are correct'. My setup looks like this. I connected my RPi to my company LAN and also my laptop to company LAN (using HP Docking station). This setup worked when I installed 'CODESYS Control for Raspberry PI', but now I donot know how to configure the gateway. Could anyone please help me in finding what I have to enter in the gateway configuration? Thanks, Vamsi.

I let this project rest for a while and picked it up last week. I have been in contact with the support from beckhoff and got the information that the terminals were identical (communication wise). As the Log of the Axis (not the drive's log) shows the error when trying to write into the register 0x8012 and set the value for an encoder to a value that is the default - at least according to the manual - I was wondering if it is possible to "not write that value" to skip that part? Or am I misunderstanding the way the library communicates with the drive?

Hello, I'm coming from Siemens (TIA) world and currently learning Codesys. I'd like to know if there is an option to add external txt file with ST code for creation of a function block and then use this file as a source file from which FB will be generated? For example, in TIA, there is an option add external source file to the project structure and then use option "Generate blocks from source". This would create a FB. Does Codesys have something similar? This external source file would look like this: FUNCTION_BLOCK Scaling VAR_INPUT x, k, n : REAL; END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT y : REAL; END_VAR VAR END_VAR y := k*x+n; END_FUNCTION_BLOCK

Hi all, Im new to Codesys 3.5, and am in the process fo making a visualisation i'd eventually export towards a Wago device. The issue I'm having currently is that when I compile and connect to the simulated program, my simulation won't launch. On the Visualisation tab, all I get is a text message (where previously there was my prepared visualisation) that says "The visualisation awaits a connection. Start the application" One thing to note: I work with Codesys 3.5 in french, so this is a rough translation. And a second: I'm not getting any errors nor warnings about the visualisation tab itself upon compiling Is there a step i'm missing after launching my simulation? Hello, I have just went through all steps shown on Codesys YT channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPoPscbo3Kc And it works, I have installed PI OS 32 bit and choose Single Core. However, immediattely when I create standard project with Raspberrz pi device, "Application" is underlined, like there is an error, but in reality there are no errors, and I cannot see what are these 3 messages like shown in attachment. Aside for this red underline, everything seems to work fine. How to correct this? Thank you! Update: I have found what errors are, but not sure how to correct them: Identifier 'IoDrvGPIO' not defined Function block 'IoDrvGPIO' must be instantiated to be accessed 'IoDrvGPIO' is no component of 'IoDrvGPIO'

Usage of this pointer access at your own risk :-) Works with SP16. From SP17 and newer there will be warnigs etc. using this solution as I remember. It will be great, if Codesys publishes a example or give a hint how to accesse this client values with the VisuUtil lib or other future-proof way!

Hi Yet another OPC UA question. When setting up a OPC server using "Communcation manager" (Symbol set and information model) in Codesys the NodeId is always given as "opaque" type. At least when browsing using UAExpert. Other standard OPC objects use numeric (or string) identifier, but for some reason my variables seems to get opaque/binary type. See attached photo. How can I change this? I can't see that this is a parameter in the CodesysControl.cfg. Can this be specified in the information model nodeset? And is it possible to specify the exact numeric or string NodeId for each instance? And on a related topic, is there a way to export the OPC server nodeId's with variable name so that it can be imported in a OPC Client? The .xml files in the project folder does not seem to contain the NodeId.
