Hi everyone, so a little update to this, I've come back to this project in the new year, and got it working. Yeah!, However, now with the new licensing setup, I need a new SoftMotion license, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with the previous Raspberry Pi SL license. Has anyone had any luck with Raspberry Pi and SoftMotion_Lite? Specifically the licensing of such? My customers new installation needs to be rebooted every 30min which is causing headaches! Another option is to not use the SoftMotion function blocks, and control the EtherCat amplifier directly, but I'm not sure how to do so. Does anyone have a specific example project of how to control a servo without the use of the SoftMotion function blocks? Thanks everyone for any assistance rendered. It's very much appreciated! Toby

Hello Every one, During testing of OPC UA communication between UA Expert software and the CODESYS SoftPLC on a Linux environment, an observation was made. When the Ethernet cable was disconnected and reconnected with 2-minute intervals, on the 5th attempt, the OPC UA connection failed to establish in UA Expert software. At this juncture, restarting the CODESYS SoftPLC enabled the reestablishment of OPC UA communication. The same result was obtained when testing on a Raspberry Pi SoftPLC. What is the reason behind this phenomenon? and whether there are settings to stop this behavior? Please help. Thanks & Regards.

Hi Jack, I think you have to look at a FB in a different way. A Function block (Class) can contain its own data. In other words don't define loose data in your GVL, but define a instance of a FB (Object) in your GVL: Example: Function_Block Basic_Class VAR_INPUT Open_Command: BOOL; END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT Opened: BOOL; END_VAR if Open_Command then Opened := TRUE; ELSE Opened := FALSE; END_IF Global Variables Objects: ARRAY[1..100] OF Basic_Class; //Here you ar defining you objects END_VAR In your code you can directly acces the data and couple it to the IO: GVL.Objects[1].Open_Command := %IX0.0; %QX0.0 := GVL.Objects[1].Opened; //To call the code itself use: GVL.Objects[1](); If you want to take this a step further you are also able to add methods and properties to the FB/Class end thereby creating a OOIP program

Yes it had been the case I believe as I have seen that message regarding they were not the same. I had update the device though to match them and that still did not fix the problem. I gotta say I wanted to get out of that situation and attempted a lot of things and then I did two things at the same time that fixed my problem: Wiped the 64 bit version and installed the 32 bit version Installed latest SP20 I wish I knew which one of these actions fixed the problem but now I gotta catch up on this IDE learning; it's been quite a learning experience I have to say! Thank you very much for your time and advice; much appreciated!

Hello, We are trying to access remotely a PLC (ifm 711S) and a HMI (ifm CR1077). Both are connected to a Teltonika RUT200 router. We establish the connection with OpenVPN Connect and can ping both controllers. We have a laptop that, most of the time, will allow Codesys connection to the controllers, but we have several other computers that are unable to connect, although all of them can ping successfully. We cannot find any difference in the configuration or software installed from one PC to another. If we connect to the router by WIFI, instead of VPN, all the computers work fine. We know that scanning the network will not work over a remote connection, so we input the controller IP directly. Has anyone had a simlar problem and can offer any hint on what to check to meke the connection run?

Hi, My problem was related to the behavior of the modulo axis, but maybe you will find something useful from what I write. The solution lies in path processing. Codesys offers a G-code analysis tool. Insert a CNC object into the project. The CNC settings object will be added automatically. By inserting appropriate processing modules into the CNC settings object and parameterizing them, you can test the behavior of the axis. When the effect is satisfactory, remember to add the module from CNC settings in the correct order in the processing path. Each CNC machine case is different. You need to spend some time to get your design tailored like an Armani suit. Good luck.

4.11 appears to solve the problem. Thanks for your help. I had first installed the 64-bit version of RPiOS, but looking at various posts and the product's page on the store which only lists 32-bit compatibility, I downgraded to the 32-bit version. I did this before trying 4.11, and it did not solve the problem. Thus my working system is 32-bit, and I am wondering if I can go back to 64-bit or not. An 64-bit OS is not listed as compatible on the store's web page, but when installing there actually is a 64-bit version listed (automatically chosen when installing on 64-bit, but otherwise greyed out). Is 64-bit supported and the website is out-of-date, or is that some kind of work-in-progress?

I use fbMsSQL_compact(FUN) of the MySQL Library to write data to the database. There is no problem when writing data using only fbMsSQL_compact(FUN). However, when I try to write data obtained using SysProcessExecuteCommand2 to the database using fbMsSQL_compact(FUN), an error message "Dest server on ip address:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and port:1433 is unreachable" appears and writing is not possible. From what I have researched, it seems that writing is not completed in one cycle of fbMsSQL_compact(FUN), and when SysProcessExecuteCommand2 is executed first in the second cycle, the work done in one cycle of fbMsSQL_compact(FUN) is reset. Could you please give me some advice?

Hello, I'm trying to understand the reason for the many errors on the EtherCAT master status page. If we set the cycletime to 1ms we see a lot of rxerrors and lostframes, but the send and recive times are quite good (see attachement). And the status of the EtherCAT bus is good (no other errors, all is green, slave has no errors) But when we set 2ms cycletime the lostframe errors are gone, but periodically increses rxerror counter (see attachement). The questions is, what do these errors actually mean and what we can do to get gid of them? Linux RT, imx8, Codesys runtime for ARM 3.5.21.10, Ethercat 4.10 Thanks

Codesys 3.5 17.30, plc - crevis GN-9373. I need to use RTC of pls for write in registers (need to check difference of writen 100 and 200 registers). For this i try to use SysTimeRtc (SysTimeRtc.SysTimeRtcGet) but its not working. After it i tryed to use SysTimeGetMs and something like this but still not working. Library? Mb but check project, SysTime with SysTimeRtc already, all what i know - already is here. Its my first try to learn ST (early used fbd and ladder, yeah), pls help with it. Mb problem with a syntaxis, but im not sure.

Hello, one of the projects I work on is about a racetrack collator with two independent belts on it - two different servo motors. Both motors share the same mechanical frame and there is a train on a belt that collects items from the input conveyor. The way the motion is performed is the following - there is a virutal master axis and both real axis are synchronised with different cam motion profiles. The problem is when an STO is triggered on any of the slave axis, the synchronization process starts from position 0 of the slaves. How can I force the slaves to retain their current position until the master passes their position? Then the slaves should catch up with the master according to the profile, the slaves should not start synchronization from 0 position. Best Regards Konstantin Kolev

Hi, I had a question about alarm management in the CODESYS visualization. I am currently investigating to what extent the alarm visualization can be built dynamically. In my program, I have developed a motor block that is used for multiple motors. When the emergency stop of one or more motors is activated, the corresponding motors are displayed in the alarm list (see image). This works quite well. I achieved this by linking variables to a latch, after which a piece of code displays the motors that are in emergency stop. My question is: do I need to create a separate latch for each motor or can I use a single latch to display multiple alarms of a motor underneath each other? This would then look like this: Time…: M1 Emergency Stop Active Time…: M4 Emergency Stop Active

1) it should be possible to access the type SysTime in the project as A_Lib.SysTime. 2) you could add the SysTimeCore library to the library manager of your library (POU Pool). This might seem as a double library, but because of the placeholder resolution only one will be used. Then, in your library manager of your library, select the SysTimeCore library, right-click, select "Properties" and enable the option "Publish all IEC symbols ...." Hello everyone, I wanted to write here because it is a similar and the most up-to-date topic. I want to connect to CoDeSys Win V3 x64 - 3.5.19.50 with OPC UA using WinCC Advanced V17. (Or to a PLC with CoDeSys Version 4.10.0.0) My settings are exactly the same as the previous comment. I even tried many different settings. I can access all CoDeSys OPC UA variables via TIA Portal IDE and add them to my HMI tags. When WinCC RT Advanced is started, it gives a warning that the connection could not be established and does not update the variables. I can connect to Inovance AM600 using CoDeSys Target version 3.5.11.50. (The same version Win x64 is also connected.) However, a security setting in the current versions prevents me. I would be very happy if those who have up-to-date experience on this issue and find a solution share it. Can somebody help me with this? I have problem with the button! This task must be solved using Sequential Function Chart (SFC), IEC 61131-3. TASK Create an SFC program to control a traffic light at an intersection. Description: You will program a traffic light that has three phases: Green, Yellow, and Red. The traffic light must follow these rules: Green light is on for 10 seconds. Yellow light is on for 3 seconds. Red light is on for 10 seconds. If the pedestrian button is pressed, the system must keep the red light on for 20 seconds during the next cycle. After the pedestrian has “crossed,” the system should return to its normal cycle. Basic Steps: Initialization: Start by setting the traffic light to Red. Green Phase: After 10 seconds, switch to Green. Yellow Phase: After 10 seconds in the Green phase, switch to Yellow. Red Phase: After 3 seconds in the Yellow phase, switch back to Red. Loop: Repeat the cycle. Use, for example, lamp symbols in the visualization module to simulate the traffic light. You may also add a simple pedestrian light if desired.

Busy testing a solution to use Canbus Slave to replace a physical device and convert to Ethercat device but keep the Canbus Master in place. Master needs to Read SDO object 5FA2. In the Master PLC if i send the SDO with 8 bytes in message IE: 60B 40 A2 5F 00 00 00 00 00 i get my expected 58B 43 A2 5F 00 00 68 36 02 containing data back. Problem is if we issue a 4 byte command can send 60B 40 A2 5F. Surely the canbus slave should respond with a 58B 43 A2 5F 00 00 68 36 02 but it comes back as 80 A2 5F 00 00 00 00 08 - meaning this OBJECT does not exist. Is there a setting in the canbus slave driver for Canbus to allow the 4 byte command to read the SDO OBJECTS ?

Hello everyone, I’m currently working on setting up an EtherCAT Master using CODESYS on a Raspberry Pi, and I’ve run into some issues I could use help with. Project Setup: EtherCAT Master: Raspberry Pi with CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi 64 SL installed EtherCAT Slave: Beckhoff CX5130 with EK1200 coupler I/O Module: EL2008 License Module: EL6070-0033 I’ve installed the required CODESYS packages and the Linux gateway on the Raspberry Pi. In my project, I added the EtherCAT Master with the appropriate port settings and scanned for devices. The CX5130 shows up as a slave, but communication fails—I'm getting error messages and can't access the outputs. Specifically: The EL2008 output module isn’t recognized properly in CODESYS. There’s no option to communicate with it through the CX5130. I’ve tried connecting via both the Raspberry Pi’s built-in Ethernet port and an external network card. I've attached screenshots showing the errors I get in CODESYS and the devices detected via TwinCAT for reference. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! I've recently started experimenting with CODESYS for a project and am fairly new to it. I'm currently working with Function Block Diagrams (FBD) to set up TCP communication between a server and a client, where the client is implemented as a Python script. Once the communication is established, my connection status changes to True, which is the expected behavior. My challenge arises with the TCP write module, which requires the xEnable_write flag to toggle between True and False. If xEnable_write remains True, the module only performs a single write operation. To address this, I introduced a falling edge trigger (F_TRIG), expecting it to help in toggling xEnable_write and it does, However, I've encountered an issue where in the beginning after connxion established I need to manually set xEnable_write to True for the system to work as intended. I'm looking for a way to automate this process so that xEnable_write becomes True automatically upon establishing a connection . Initially, I tried setting xEnable_write to True from the start, but this approach didn't work well since it left the flag permanently True, preventing further toggling. I also experimented with using a TON timer, but I faced similar issues. I am seeking a solution that automatically toggles xEnable_write between True and False after a connection is established, ensuring continuous write operations without manual intervention. Any advice or guidance on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated."

Some new test. Now I cannot connect from Automation server to my gateway in any way also from my office setup with my unit directly connected to my router by dhcp. I can use the IDE and the tool "Connect Edge Gateway" and successfully connect to my server/link to my Automation server account. However no PLC will respond from Automation server "Network scan". I guess the traffic should be initiated by the gateway towards automation server? Any tips on how I can diagnose my problem? Ports to be opened etc? Thing is that this has been working previously but not now (base system has been updated from debian 12 to debian 13, but I dont know at which point it has stopped working). Setup as before. A "Codesys Control for Linux SL" running on a debian 13 installation. Any help/tips appreciated! Per Update. Found the error. Had a wrong gateway-setting. Which meant the PLC could not reach internet. Checked by "ping google.com" from the PLC.
