Didn't help. I'm just trying to understand why the errors occur. Are they from the poor driver or from the Linux network stack. That's why I wanted to know how the rxerros and lostframes are counted. Because in other places (like ethtool info) there are no any issues. And the Ethercat device works fine. And it also strange that on the second ethernet port with a different HW and driver Ethercat works better, but still time to time gets such errors.

I'm building up a 2nd PC to match an existing developer PC. Installed the same SP and Patch levels but when I open a project that was created on the existing PC, Codesys complains that it's not the same version. Attaching a screenshot..... What else is there to match? Also, can all of the libraries that are on the existing machine be copied from it to the new machine and if so, how? (So I get the same versions) Which files/folders do I copy? Thanks! -Farren

You are right, that you can use the GetState method, but it is not that simple. You first have to get a list of (filtered) alarms from the AlarmManager. You can find an example in Forge how to do this. I came up with an FBD that seems to be working, although it may not be a true Retriggerable Pulse timer. There may be some delay associated with the two MOVE functions and ADD function I incorporated. I'd be interested if anyone is able to come up with something cleaner. I am surprised that this is not a built-in function block of the CodeSYS library. This is a common feature of multi-function timer relays. I also attached a page from the cut sheet of a Schneider relay that shows 10 timing functions. Looks like the CodeSYS library has built-in function blocks for only 3 of the 10.

Hello, we have the same problem here. Our configuration in the following: Codesys V3.5 SP19 running on Exor Exware700Q Profinet network connected on Eth1 IOLink Master Turck TBEN-S2-4IOL version 3.5.9.0 IOLink sensors E+H & Sick (Pressure, T°) We installed the codesys IO link package and have the codesys IO Link SL licence activated (on a dongle) Our problem is the following: we got the IODD files from E+H & Sick we add the devices in the codesys device repository with success They appear in the devices tree under IODD branch We added the TBEN IOLink master under the Profinet IO . The IO link master are ok and display online. The IO-Link SL package datasheet indicate that there would be a way to scan the IOLink device from the network but we did not find any way to trigger this scan. (we expect to get this from a right click on each IO-Link Master module but the only possibility there is "Plug device") When clicking on Plug Device, we get a browse window with profinet IO modules. The IODD devices are not there so we cannot select them. But other devices for other brands are available and can be plugged. Our question are : 1) how do we update the Profinet IO Module catalogue in order to be able to plug the E+H & Sick Sensors that we have to work with? 2) how do we activate the Scan IOLlink device that is supposed to be included in the Codesys IO-link package? 3) where can we find the manual explaining how to use this package?

Hi all, I’m currently trying to improve my OOP structure in CODESYS and I’m looking for some input on how others approach this. I understand the basics like inheritance, interfaces, abstract FBs, methods, and properties, but I still struggle a bit with the overall architecture and what’s considered clean or scalable in bigger projects. As an example, I’m working on two different energy meter function blocks: FB_EnergyMeter_MQTT reads data from MQTT (strings) FB_EnergyMeter_Modbus reads data from Modbus (words) Both have their own Update() method and implement the same interface (something like IF_EnergyMeter). Later on, I’ll probably add more meter types, but they should all behave the same from the controller’s point of view. Now, there’s a FB_GridControl block that needs power data from these meters. I see two options here: Define the meter blocks inside FB_GridControl and call them directly (for example fbModbusMeter.UpdateModbus()). Keep the meter blocks outside and pass them into FB_GridControl as interface references, so the control block doesn’t know which specific type of meter it’s dealing with. Option 2 feels cleaner and more flexible to me, but I’m not entirely sure how to handle the data flow in that case. Should I pass the meter instance through an interface reference (REFERENCE TO IF_EnergyMeter)? Or is there a better way to link the external FBs to the control block? I’d like to hear how you structure this kind of setup or see an example from someone who has done something similar. Hello, i need to create an application that uses 2 masters, with 2 different ratios, and it outputs in one single slave. I explain better: Imagine axis A, B and C. -Axis A is the slave. -Axis B is master of A, with a specific ratio. -Axis C is master of A, with a specific ratio. the result motion from B and C should be executed by A, proportionally in position and ratios from B and C. With standard softmotion libraries (MC_...) it is not possible (i couldn't) because it is allowed only one master with its ratio. I have made a similiar application in past, using MoveOverGear in order to synch gears before engage. Instead this time, i need to do a gear over gear application, using 2 different masters. The position have to be the sum of both masters (considering their ratios). Any clue about how to do it? Or were to find some FB that can do it?

Could anyone explain: How to define and register custom tabs or UI pages in the Device Editor? What tools or SDKs are needed to create UI elements such as combo boxes or check boxes? How to bind those UI controls to device parameters defined in the XML (device description)? Any example, SDK reference, or documentation link would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hi I am trying to use STRUCT to parse commands from Modbus/TCP, Modbus client will fill the bytes related to a specific command (type, parameters), then PLC (Codesys) will access the command parameters. A STRUCT will simplify a lot the process of parsing the data, so I don't need to parse byte per byte, address will be mapped to a struct and I can use it for parsing the data. From what I understood, the compiler does not allow me to specify the location of the struct for a %MW register. VAR_COMMAND AT %MW1002: structGenericModbusCommand; This will throw: Bad declaration, use '%ML' for 'structGenericModbusCommand' variable But If I change it to %ML, when you go online you see that it is actually allocating the struct in another memory address. When we go online, on GVL we can see: VAR_COMMAND. structGenericModbusCommand %ML1002 commandType COMMANDTYPE %MB8016 ... %MB8020 I am not specifying a pointer or a reference it is a struct type, why is it mapping to a %MW location (random one). How can I control where it is mapping to? I need a consistent way to map STRUCT to specific modbus address. Is it possible? Although I have set in /etc/codesyscontrol/CODESYSControl_User.cfg the [SysFile] PlaceholderFilePath.1=/media/pi, $usb$ PlaceholderFilePath.1.View=1 PlaceholderFilePath.1.Volatile=1 I am not able to copy a file to this directory defined by the placeholder. Neither SysProcess.SysProcessExecuteCommand2 nor SysFileCopy nor FileCopy is working. If I try to copy the same file to /home/pi all is working fine. I also can create and open a different file by using SysFileOpen. I don't understand why the system allows to open (create) and write files into that directory but doesn't allow to copy into it. Obviously there is a rights problem with the USB drive. I have already set the permissions to drwxr-xr-x 2 and the user to pi but without any success. With 3.5.16 I never had such an issue. Is there anybody with some hints how to solve that problem? Cheers, canplum

Yes it is possible. I did it a lot of times using TeamViewer VPN. Unfortunately, TeamViewer VPN only works on Windows. If the remote PLC is a Codesys runtime running on Windows, you should be able to login directly using TeamViewer VPN if it is installed on the PC/PLC. If it is not Windows based, you can still do it but you need to have a Windows based PC acting as a gateway in the middle. In this case you need to enable IP Forwarding on the Windows remote PC (the gateway) and you need to setup the gateway IP address on the PLC to be the address of the Windows PC. Then you need to add a route on your local PC to point to the gateway PC for Codesys communication. I know it may not be detailed enough but I did not want to make a whole tutorial on how to do it. Bottom line, it is possible. I do it all the time.

I am trying to create an icon on an overview screen that depicts if an alarm group has active alarms, active acknowledged alarms, or inactive unacknowledged alarms (waiting for confirmation). I've attempted to set up Notification Actions in the Alarm Class to set variables based on state changes but have been unable to find a clean and effective way to do this. Because an action on any alarm will trigger the variable to be set as instructed, I'm struggling to find a way to configure it for what I need (ie if two alarms activate, then one deactivates, the variable for indicating an alarm is active would be cleared after the single deactivation). I've been pointed toward the Alarm Manager example project but I'm finding it too complicated to understand how to implement it in my own project. Has anyone come up with another good way to indicate the states of alarms or a simpler usage of the Alarm Manager functions?
