Hello, In my projects, I'm following this recommendation about the rule names in Codesys https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_rules.html, so I always use backtick identifiers, not only for variables, but also for the object names. However, I have noticed that in the current version of Codesys, when adding Visu object, it is not allowed to used these identifiers in the name. This is very different from all other objects like, folder names, POU names, Variable list names etc. I wonder if there is some hidden settings I can use to enable backtick identifiers in the Visu object names? I have the same annoying problem. The confirmation prompt for every single action appeared recently after an update from CODESYS 3.5 SP20 Patch 3 to Patch4, but I don't think it's due to this. Having to confirm every operation while debugging an application is a considerable waste of time and does not help at all to concentrate on development, not to mention that many times you miss the long-awaited event because you are busy looking for the 'yes' button to resume debugging or force a variable. Does anyone know how to disable the confirmation messages?

I don't exactly recall where (I think some release notes), but I read the information that this multiple application / sub application feature is to be discontinued. Please, correct me, if I'm not right about this I am a bit sad about that - I was using that feature with more or less success. However I understand the reason behind the change: it introduces huge complexity, especially when dealing with multicore and safety support... AS I understand, it's to be replaced with the new virtual plc architecture, and standard ways for synchronizing / sharing data... So, for now the "Add application" context menu item was removed, but behind the scene it is still supported... Hint: if you still want to experiment with it, might try copy-paste things within the PLCLogic tree...

Hello. I am using codesys 3.5. I would like to know if it is possible to set a variable to an output without declaring in. I have defined a STRUCT and within this struct I have a Struct for inputs called I and a struct for outputs called O. I have declared a variable of the type of this Struct, I would like to set or alias the value in this variable to an input/output value of an IO block that has a module on the ethernet tree. Is it possible to copy the contents of %IW0 -> STRUCT.I ? The size of both of these is 2 bytes. I understand that I can declare a variable with the input like Input01 AT %IX0.0 : BOOL; However how can I make STRUCT.I.D00 AT %IX0.0? Is this possible? Thanks

Apparently my construction will not work as any of the sub-types are not be able to accept any (further) value-initiation. Ie: string_item : log_data_base := (string_value := 'test', val_type := STRING_); is not eq to (the string_value will not be assigned): string_item_2 : log_data_string := (string_value := 'test'); Because effectively for the compiler this is eq. to a "double" assignment where the compiler sees only the first assignment (my guess). string_item_2 : log_data_base := (val_type := STRING_) := (string_value := 'test'); Im not sure this should be treated as a bug, but it would surely be nice to be able to use this construction (compiler is 3.5.20.40). Anyone see any other alternative for solution (other than 4 complete STRUCTS with all fields individually defined)?

Hello! I have tried read a file to the string variable. But I faced a problem - there is about 2800 bytes of information in file, but string have a limit 2393 bytes. I made two variables with same address (for automatic convertion) - string[3000] and array of bytes[1..3000]. And I noticed that array of bytes contains all information from file, but string shows only first 2393 bytes. So I have lost information. Is there really such a limitation? Or I have an error in my program and Codesys 2.3 have no limit for such kind of conversation between string and array of bytes? Thank you very much!

You need to activate an individual license (ticket number) for each device. THe hardware of each device is unique, so you cannot copy a soft container from one device to another. This license can be installed in a local (wibu - codemeter) soft container, or you could optionally activate it on a hardware (USB) key. The benefit of the key is that you can easily move it to another device, nor does it get lost when you replace parts of the hardware of the device or completely overwrite the image. I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling CODESYS, but that didn’t resolve the issue. Also, i have a teammate who have exactly the same computer as me and he didnt encounter any issue. Hi, I am interested in details about the .ret file in the filesystem. I have already a project where the file is used (write on demand, read by start) and I want to share it as 'default input' for test devices using the identical application. Opening the .ret file content in a hex editor (I only use a single string retain var) I asked myself what the meaning of the first 24 bytes is. It neither contains a handle to the application nor a reference to the variable. Is this maybe a timestamp? Or a CRC/checksum? Regards, Thomas

I just found this and I am getting a value larger than 16 bit, around 81000 something. I am reading a 5 volt value and I am using level shifters for the i2c bus. This is how I have the channel configured: ADS1115.usiAddress := 16#48; ADS1115.ChannelConfigs[0].Active := TRUE; ADS1115.ChannelConfigs[0].PGA := FSR_6144mV; ADS1115.ChannelConfigs[0].InputMux := Single_0; RawAnalogValue := ADS1115.Channels[0].Value; It looks like every value is a multiple of 3. Any idea where to look to fix this? I think i found what I want to change in UpdateChannels Channels[FChannelNo].Value := INT_TO_REAL(WORD_TO_INT(LValue) * GetFullScaleRange(ChannelConfigs[FChannelNo].PGA)) / 2048.0; I try to edit it but I can't, sorry if this is a basic question, I am new to CODESYS.

Hi All, I have problem with ModbusFB.ClientSerial. I'm using 4 different port for Modbus communication. After some time of running program ClientSerial stops to receive data to reply buffer and all request finish with Reply Timeout. The Device sent reply correctly,that it is visible on oscilloscope and it is possible to see that data( reply )are in the device. If the usbtty device is read over external app. then it is possible to see all data which were not taken by ModbusFB.ClientSerial. The stack does not overflow or something , program runs correctly forward and no exceptions or something. The main problem it is that when the error occur than it is not possible to reset port or something or maybe i'm doing it wrong way. please help me with this issue. However, a more practical approach might be using automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to extract and inject code into the CODESYS project. Hi, I want to use two OneWireMaster on a Raspberry Pi5. I'm running Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi 64SL V 4.15.0.0. Under Linux I've configured two GPIOs for 1w bus usage on GPIO4 and GPIO27. Under Linux both masters seem to work fine and I can readout both sensors connected to both GPIOs. The two masters are 'w1_bus_master1' and 'w1_bus_master2'. In Codesys I've configured to OneWireMasters with the corresponding file paths. But in Codesys the 2nd onewiremaster "w1_bus_master2" doesn't work. Status is showing "OnewireMaster : Not running" What am I doing wrong? Does Codesys on Raspberry support multiple OneWireMasters? Any help is appreciated.

Hello, I’m developing a program and for some reason I got this error: C0193: Name '2,Recipe #2GVL' is no valid identifier I was creating a combo box and creating a TextList for my recipe. I couldn't find where the error was, until in the combo box properties in the 'Text List' property in the options it gives me to select, I found '2,Recipe #2' to be able to select (I never created a list with this name) and I can't find a way to delete that option or I can't find where that list is. I tried to delete the TextLists, delete the combo box, to clean the project, but the error still there. How can I delete this option (2,Recipe #2)? Or how can I fix this error?** Thank you.

Hi, On CODESYS V3.5.19.50 I am using the latest 3S File Access library (CAA File & CAA Types) to save and retrieve configuration data from the User Data section of an SD card, via file called config.txt. The application reads the file to memory once upon initialisation, and then the only other operation is overwriting the file with the updated configuration whenever the user changes the settings. An issue is ocurring, seemingly randomly, where the config.txt file, and all surrounding directories, cannot be written to by the unit, returning a READ_ONLY_CAA error upon file open. This sometimes does not clear even after power-cycling the PLC several times, yet checking the file permissions with ls -l shows normal read, write, and execute access. I am wondering if this is caused by the PLC itself or by an issue in my application. Hi, I found the same issue, and I fixed with this steps: 1st go to codesys .cfg file. sudo nano CODESYSControl.cfg Then insert this: [SysProcess] BasePriority=Realtime Command=AllowAll Now we need to grant codesys root rights on Linux. Step 1: Create or edit the systemd override configuration: sudo systemctl edit codesyscontrol In the editor that opens, insert: [Service] User=root Save and exit: Press Ctrl+O to save Press Ctrl+X to exit Step 2: Reload systemd and reboot To apply the override: sudo systemctl daemon-reexec sudo systemctl daemon-reload sudo reboot Step 3: Confirm CODESYS is running as root After reboot, open the terminal and run: ps aux | grep codesyscontrol You should see something like: root 1234 ... /opt/codesys/bin/codesyscontrol.bin ... If instead it shows admin or another user, the override was not applied correctly. Step 4: (Optional) Confirm from within CODESYS In your CODESYS project, insert this test code to run the Linux command whoami: Make sure the lib SysProcessImplementation, SysTypes, and CmpErrors is on the project. I still have the same problem with Codesys 3.5 SP18. Initially, my project is ~5 Mo. I work on it for like 3-4 days and it goes up to ~10Mo. If I make an export of the project and import it in a new empty project, it goes back to approximately 5 Mo. Why is it doing this ?

Hi everyone, is it possible to use selfsigned/created certificates (eg. with X - Certificate and Key Management) as a OPC UA Server certificate in the Security Screen? As far as I know I can only upload client certificates to the PLC and move it to "Trusted", "Untrusted" and "Quarantined". Same question is on sps-forum.de
