Hello,
In Codesys I can't find where to configure Ethercat Master VLAN tagging?
In Beckhoff in Infosys there is an attached image so you can see it...
I would like to try ethercat master with VLAN, to try to have several ethercat masters on a single ethernet port... I imagine that managed VLAN switches are also necessary?
Thanks.
Hi,
I am looking for exactly the same thing. I would think that using a layer 2/3 managed switch should work but I am not convinced. I would like to test it in order to see if it would be possible to run many Codesys Docker instances on a server and run only 1 ethernet cable from the server to a managed switch closer to the machines beeing controlled instead of having to run multiple long ethernet cables.
I was going to buy a managed switch in order to test it but I want to first make sure it is possible and I want to figure out exactly what kind of switch I would need.
Is this even possible?
I think this is a feature that would be very useful paired with "Codesys Virtual Control SL".
Thank you
π

I ordered a cheap managed switch and tested it as soon as I received the switch.
It works great!
I even went a bit further. As you can see in the screenshot, I created 2 Codesys containers. Each one having 2 fieldbuses. The first one has EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP and the second one has EtherCAT and Modbus/TCP. All going through the same ethernet port from the PC to the switch. The switch splits it up into 4 different networks.
The hardest part was to figure out how to configure the switch. @eschwellinger, thank you very much.

Hello,
the following store software may be required?
https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-ethercat-master-sl.html
Please if anyone has this software installed can you tell me if it has VLAN tagging?

see attached pdf - as an example configuration with a CISCO switch and two instance Virtual Control SL.

Hello yannickasselin,
What managed switch did you buy to test it?
The one I bought is a Mokerlink managed switch with 4x2.5G and 2x10G. It is a very generic switch. You can find it under many different brand names.
