Hi! I have usually only connected one OPC client (our system) to an OPC server created in the codesys environment on a PLC. This OPC client has a lot of write privileges. A customer also want OPC access, but I want to restrict his access to only read certain values. Do you know if this is possible inside the single codesys runtime running on a controller?

However, I still cannot install Virtual PLC. I'm currently getting a missing path message: "C:\Program Files\CODESYS 3.5.19.60\CODESYS\CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux SL\Delivery\virtuallinux\VirtualControlAPI.py." It looks as the package: "CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux SL" was not installed. But, there isn't one in CODESYS Store or I'm doing something incorrectly.

Hi, it is enough to copy the files to /home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application and adding the lines [CmpApp] Application.1=Application to the eRUNTIME.cfg, if your Application in your program is also called "Application". Reboot -> Bootapp should be loaded. If not please check the log /var/log/runtime.log There should be a line which explains why the bootproject is not loaded.

i know, this is the reason for us either. PLC-Handler is to big, and only available with additional Contracts/Costs. OPC-UA is to slow for us. As described, there is a solution available, but im not allowed to post them here. i would prefer you send a message at codesys store by "have a question" or similar called. Not sure. Or, if an Codesys-Official Member allows to share that informations, i can give you the right hints.

Hello, I am using an Inovance PLC to control a servo via EtherCAT. When I enable MC_POWER, the drive switches to Run mode successfully. After that I call MC_MoveRelative, but I get the error SMC_FB_WASNT_CALLED_DURING_MOTION. The servo vibrates but the motor shaft does not move. I am new to EtherCAT/servo motion control, so I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions for troubleshooting this issue. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi kenth1973, MC_Phasing has been improved in recent versions. I would recommend to install the latest version of SoftMotion (4.20.1.0) and test whether the problem still exists, and if so, what the error identifier is. (Also check the PLC log in this case, it might contain additional information.) Setting the internal state of the FB is not recommended, it could lead to malfunction of the FB and unintended movements of the drive. Best regards, Georg

Can anyone shed some light on this issue im having. at random, sometimes days, sometimes weeks or months. i get this error and have to reset the plc. Im using a Weintek HMI with ethernet/ip remote io and vsd. i have tried increasing my task times and watchdogs. and when i view my PLCload in the shell its normally around 3-4%, highest ive ever seen is 7%. Nothing i do seems to help the issue. Could the HMI's Codesys CPU be getting to hot do to high ambient temp?

In general, drives have parameter sets to adjust behaviour in such cases: position recovery, adaptation with resistant torque, out-of-position window failure, etc. (Much depends on the type of configuration set for the axis: positioner, speed controller, torque controller, etc.). I have used that type of drive very little, in only two cases and a long time ago. To tell you what is normal is impossible. I know by reputation they are very simple objects, without too many pretensions and adjustments possible. Try running traces by monitoring actual position, motor current, torque and following error. These are the most sensible curves to understand what is going on. Maybe by fine tuning the motor tuning, the current controller or the speed controller you will get something closer to what you want. For example, from DS, the motor has a standstill torque of 3 Nm. Observe with traces whether this is effective: motor current trend. And afterwards, when you have your own accurate picture of the situation, you can also hear from the product's local support to see if you can steal a few more things from it performance-wise.

Hi everyone, is there a way to programmatically clear the cache of the Data Source Manager in CODESYS so that variable values are re-synchronized from the OPC UA server (Symbol Configuration with OPCUA features)? Alternatively, is it possible to trigger a manual synchronization of data source variables from within the application code at runtime? Here’s the situation: A variable is first written by the OPC UA client to the server in one state of a state machine and changes to another state – so the initial communication works. Later, the server changes the variable value, but the client does not receive or reflect the updated value, unless the variable is actively written again. I’m looking for a way to force the client (data source manager) to re-read or refresh the variable state from the server, possibly by clearing the internal cache or triggering a sync. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

dear all I am working on a very generic gantry system (virtual drives + win v3 control) reading gcode from external file. In order to stop the interpolator function from running when gaps are detected, SMC_controlAxisByPos FB has the bStopIpo output which according to the manual is connected to the Interpolator's bEmergencyStop. Lets assume that the axis are parked in position X1000 Y1000 and the initial G code movement is G00 X500 Y500. The normal behavior is to travel from the actual x1000 y1000 to G00 X500 Y500. The SMC_Interpolator always gets the X0 Y0 as the initial position, meaning that the bStopIpo is active until the axis are in X0 Y0 and the release the interpolator to set the new positions to X500 Y500. Is there a suggested method to solve this behavior? bonus question: I get a lot of bStopIpo during standard interpolation movements (not gaps). While working with virtual axis this is not a problem but when real axis are installed this will be an issue. What exactly triggers the bStopIpo output? Slow axis accelerations compare to Gcode defaults? Kind Regards

Using SDO, I can read the EtherCAT mappings and offsets from various registers like 0x1c12, 0x1c13, etc. When I obtain registers mapped in the PDOs and various offsets, I could technically access directly to the statusword, controlword, etc., if they are mapped. I have noticed that on IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Diag I can find pointers to the input and output buffers. However, although the input buffer can be easily read by referring to what has been obtained from the SDOs, it is not possible to write to the output buffer, as it is overwritten in each cycle by the data from the IOMapping task. Is there a way, knowing an instance of IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Diag, to obtain the pointer to the first data in the IOMapping? The offsets are identical to those of the PDOs, but obviously the data is a copy. For me, the cleanest thing would be to access the pointers on IOMapping, for DS402a devices to retrieve the key data and point them to internal references. I need to know this as, having developed our own motion library, I would like to simplify the initial setup by eliminating unnecessary and nonsensical mappings that can lead users to unnecessary errors. In the current version that we have been using for years, we have to map everything manually. I would like to pass only the slave reference to the FB_init constructors and eliminate the mapping.

Hello everyone, I have a working SPI connection (with transferExt) between a Raspberry master with Codesys and an ESP32 slave. I would also like to use a few GPIO pins. Is there a problem with using SPI AND GPIOs? Environment: Raspberry Pi 4+ with Raspian from Oct 23 Codesys V3.4 SP19 Patch 5 with Runtime Version 4.10.0.0 Device: GPIOs B+/Pi2 My problem: The status is displayed as “GPIOs : not running”. And also during mapping the message “The bus is not running. The values shown are perhaps not actual”. However, the variable changes that I make in my program are displayed under “Current Value”. In the Logic Analyzer, the pin toggles during transmission with small intervals of +-4us (seems to be a cyclical disorder, but I don't know where exactly it could be coming from). This applies to pins that I actually use (output) but also to the other GPIOs (not used). With GPIO 4, the line remains permanently high. Attached is a screenshot from the Logic Analyzer. Channel 1,3,5 were GPIO pin 26, 22, 17 Would be very grateful for help. Best regards

Hi CoDeSys support forum, hope that this is the correct place to ask this. Might be double as i am new to Codesys and dont know all terminology. I am trying to test Codesys with a virtual plc on a raspberry pi 5. Already figured that i need Tools -> Deploy Control SL, enter Communication parameters. Codesys says "Connected". Then tab "Deployment", there i select "CODESYS Control for Raspberri Pi SL" and "4.16.0.0 (all)". Click "Install" and the gui turns grey and unresponsive. The titlebar says "Untitled1.project - CODESYS (Not Responding)" as well. Restarting Codesys and checking shows no package was installed. How to deploy the runtime? Thank you in advance for your time. Edit: After some patience, an error showed up: "Error when sending ssh heartbeat: Session operation has timed out" "Error installing codesyscontrol" Any pointers to what remote command might have failed, or log of some sort, would be welcome. hi! im planning a project on a raspberry with Codesys. For this I'll need a number of relays to control heating and fans, all a max of 24v and about 2a. How would i know if the board / relays i buy will be working with Codesys? Does every hat work or does it need a library/driver? is there a list of drivers/libraries created? as this is a hobby project all tips on a relay board or single boards that works with codesys and not to expensive are very welcome.

Can We get this information in codesys devlopment software. code size is approx 5 mb, 1 instance of etharcat master and aproox 100 variables in visaualization.

I can't recall how I solved it and whether it was a problem with my codesys installation or the project itself. If it is the codesys installation, make sure all your required libraries and plugins are installed and available. compare with a colleagues installation if possible. I vaguely recall saving a copy of my project and deleting things one by one until the error went away...

The origianl version with create of project was 3.5.13.10 I can change version to Master Ethercat 3.5.13.10 to 3.5.16.70 but i can´t update the last version 4.4.0.0 (I attached the screen "Version Master OK-NO OK"). In the moment update to the last version appear a lot of error("Version Master NO OK") Can anyone help me please?

To better track project changes in git I created a script that exports the project structure as text files. Textual POUs are stored as text, everything else as XML (with timestamps removed). The file structure is stored under path/to/your.project.txt Git merge will not work, but at least tracking changes is much easier. Ive got a project with 6 devices . Version 3.5.9.2 Now i change one to a other device 3.5.20.40 So i update the project to V3.5.20.4 Now i have a lot off faults in the canopendevices . Somehowe the first has no problem and seems that the canopenstackts stays in V3.5.9.2 the others in V4.2.0.0 But i cant put it back to 3.5.9.2 WHY ? And how can now witch one i can update and witch one not ?

Hi imdatatas, sorry to hear this issue caused so much overhead for you. Frankly, I'd expect a project created with an older version to compile without errors after opening > it with the latest Codesys version and updating all libraries. Yes, that is a reasonable expectation. I tried a few times but could not reproduce the problem. In case you run into the problem again, we can investigate the issue if you send a project archive.
