I am currently investigating an OPC UA PubSub connection over UDP. When I don't use encryption, the publish and subscribe are working correctly. But with encryption it does not. Environment OPC UA PubSub SL 1.3.0.0 (namespace UADP) OPC UA PubSub Security 1.3.0.0 (namespace PSS) OPC UA PubSub Base 1.3.0.0 (namespace PSB, incl. PSS.SecurityGroup / PSS.CONFIG) Programmatic PubSub in a CFC: UADP.Configuration → UADP.Connection → UADP.writerGroup → UADP.writer → writerDataSet, plus a CyclicCall gated by xEnable. Goal: publish secured UADP, SignAndEncrypt, policy PubSub-Aes256-CTR. What I do (one-shot, before xEnable := TRUE): fbSecurityGroup.SetInitialValue( 'http://opcfoundation.org/UA/SecurityPolicy#PubSub-Aes256-CTR', PSB.SECURITY.SIGNING_AND_ENCRYPTION); stSecurityCfg := fbSecurityGroup.GetConfig(eErrorID => eError); // eError=NO_ERROR, udiEncryptionKeySize=32 eError := fbSecurityGroup.SetSecurityKeys(udiTokenId, ADR(abyKey), SIZEOF(abyKey), 2436001000); // eError=NO_ERROR, SIZEOF=68 // writerGroup.itfSecurityGroup := fbSecurityGroup -- set in the WriterGroup block's Parameters (a per-scan code write got overwritten) What I verified eError = NO_ERROR after both GetConfig and SetSecurityKeys; udiEncryptionKeySize = 32. Init runs before xEnable (the writer doesn't run with xEnable=FALSE). The UADP.writerGroup FB exposes only itfSecurityGroup for security — no SecurityMode/MessageSecurityMode property. Result: the published datagrams are still plaintext — ExtendedFlags1 = 0x01 (security bit 0x10 clear), no security header: b1 01 29 00 0f 16 00 … (PublisherId 41, WriterGroupId 22, RawData, no security) Questions With UADP.writerGroup, is assigning a configured + keyed PSS.SecurityGroup to itfSecurityGroup sufficient to enable message security, or is there an additional step/property/method to switch the WriterGroup to SignAndEncrypt? At what point in the WriterGroup lifecycle is itfSecurityGroup read? Must it be assigned/keyed before xActive, and does the group need a stop→start to pick it up? Is there a required call order, and does SetSecurityKeys need to be called once or repeatedly? Should security be configured on the Connection/Configuration level rather than (or in addition to) the WriterGroup? Is there a working example of secured (SignAndEncrypt) programmatic UADP publishing with this library, or a known limitation in 1.3? How can I read back at runtime whether security is actually active (via itfDiagnostics or similar)? Additional information I can confirm that the consumer side works — i.e. a standard subscriber decrypts the same keys fine — so the keys/profile aren't the issue. Hi there, Task: dynamical changing the scaling of an bar graph, linear scaling whitout showing the bar only the scaling values and Lines for Main and partial steps. Define 4 Limits for Hi and LO Values with different colors Option 1 : use the bar graph whitout showing the actual bar whitout showing the bar, only the scaling values and lines for main and partial steps. Then what to do with the 4 Limits ? I could use 4 moveable Rectangles with the start and end value fo the areas but then the whoel bargraph must be transparent. Best way would be if only the scale ist possible to show as it is possible for the Meter 180° but this option does not exist for the bargraph. Option 2 : user defined HMTL5 Widgets wich may be some allreay has created or where is a dome for using this kind of html5 widget. The expanse for use html is in my eyes to big and gives more option for errors. Have some one experience in this topic or a hint how to do it the easiest way? Thanks for your help.

I think it depends on what you consider as redundant. Is it allowed to plug the network cable in another device (server), move the USB key with license to the other device (server) and then start it up? Or should it automatically switch over within msec and take over the communication with the I/O flawlessly without noticing the switchover? We helped several customers setting up the CODESYS Redundancy functionality and the nice thing is that when you have it up and running, you can easily switchover from active to passive and when you download a new applicaiton, CODESYS handles the update of boot project on the passive controller automatically. Sure this will require an additional license and the license for redundancy, but if your installation is that critical it should be worth it. Hi I'm automation engineering student and I'm not yet quite familiar with CAN-bus. What I am trying to achieve, to send two byte message via CAN from Epec display to Scott Drive inverter. I'm using code template made with Epec Multitool in Codesys 3.5 Problem i'm facing is that drive responds with same COB-ID. In multitool, you can create TPDO/RPDO. And depending on that, display either sends or only receives. This is problem, because for parameter polling from drive, you need to send two byte request to 0x399 and drive responds with eight bytes. If request is longer, drive don't respond. 0x399 is currently setted as RPDO, so display doesn't send anything on startup and I made program that sends messages to 0x399 bytes 0 and 1 and bytes 3-7 are shown in display. If setted as TPDO, display send all eight bytes and therefor drive cannot respond. But, I think because they are defined as RPDO, display won't send message, although monitoring with Codesys, values are changed. Question is, how should COB-ID be configured in Codesys, so it wouldn't automatically start to send message but would send when needed?

Hi, We are currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 CM4 module in a EdgeBox RPI 200 - Industrial Edge Controller running the latest CODESYS Runtime Package 4.11.0.0. On the PC (actually an Intel Macbook Pro running Windows 10 in Parallels) we run CODESYS V3.5.19.50. Yesterday end of day when I was about to logoff and head home, I wanted to send the latest build to the Raspberry I clicked the Login button to compile a new version and then sync the application and all the files, it get's stuck on the last file to sync (see attached screenshot). This takes eternally, although sometimes, when I use my SFTP client (Cyberduck) and go into the raspberry and refresh the directory /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/visu/, or when I open the actual file visuelemsdatetime.tl_datetime.txt, it gets un-stuck (forcing a refresh, which might fix the syncing issue) and CODESYS continues and I can click the Start button to start the application. But this SFTP force refresh trick does not always help either... What could be the issue here? network connectivity? Can someone please help me out?

Yes, I tried to do what you put in the first code. However, I have a problem with that and that is that the inputs must be declared with the type. I have many data types running in my code (real, int, uint, bool) and I can't put them in the same function, another thing is that I need to instantiate that function for everything I want to write to the slave. You put a for to 200 but it means that it has to be the same data type and inside the array, but I want to get them individually. I'm struggling to do it in a good and efficient way like wago's E-cockpit does. in the first screenshot you can see, you simply type in value, change the package of things you want to write in value change and it does everything by itself automatically, without comparing any old and new values and even less having the need to activate a bool. , it is perfect.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I am also new to Codesys programming. My problem is this: I have a STRUCT of 64 bool and 30 real, this STRUCT is assigned in the programme 9 times. Now I need to communicate with an HMI via Modbus and I have defined the slave device and created the holding registers for communication. I would like to declare the first call of the STRUCT on the Modbus registers %QX2000.0 to %QX2007.7 for the booleans and on the registers %QW1004 to %QW1034 for the real registers. That said, I would like to change an index and set an offset of 100 bytes for the calls of the other 8 assignments, so that the result is: %QX2100.0 to %QX2107.7 for the booleans and on the %QW1104 to %QW1134 registers for the Real registers, etc. Is there a way to declare this? I know I'm thinking about this wrong -- too many decades of procedural and event-driven programming and only a few months of PLC ST programming...... I've created a visualization with a button that when pushed calls a method. I want the method to take a pressure reading, wait one minute and then take another pressure reading. I'm looking for leaks. I'm using TON for the delay. It seems like what is happening is that the method gets called once and it takes the first reading and starts the TON. But then execution continues, leaves that method call, and the second reading never happens. I can force the method to keep running until the whole thing is done with a While loop, but I understand that is considered BAD in PLC programming. If it push the button again to call the method again, it picks up where it left off and if the timer is complete then it runs the remaining code. How do I keep that method running until it is complete with just one call without using a while loop that ties up the PLC for a minute? Thanks! -Farren

Hello everyone. I hope this is the right place to ask for help, this error is causing me a great amount of time loss and I really would like to end this nightmare. I don't know why but at times if I try to Browse -> Display Cross Reference on a variable Codesys just crashes. I'll attach the file with the complete crash report hoping someone can figure why it happend. I think that the unhandled exception comes from the PersisranceManager Module and is connected with the other big problem I'm facing: I cannot refactor in my project, if I'll try to refactor a POU name the whole POU will become "frozen", it's like its desynchronizing from the project and the project cannot find the pointer to the POU once I refactor it. And when I open the project a warning pop-up will show up with the frozen POUs name, but I cannot figure out what the warning is telling me. I'll attach every warning and error pop up the project is showing me, and thanks in advance to anyone who can figure something out.

Through Anonymous connection it is connecting to server and can read data. Later tried to connect using username and password. First got a SECURITY_CHECKS_FAILED error, trusted the client certificate in the server and this issue resolved. Next got an INVALID_CERTIFICATE error, trusted the server certificate in the client and this issue resolved. After these two error it is not establishing the connection and not giving any error messages. Update: This initial issue was when using a Linux target PLC. Since then I have created a Win10 target PC and the Codesys software reported an issue associated with the device version (see attached). I am assuming this is an incompatibility with the xml file from the manufacturer and the firmware version on the module and I am chasing this up with Beckhoff. Question is, why would this not report with a Linux target?

I'm having trouble with the initial loading of recipes. I can create them and load one or the other, but when the program restarts the recipes are not listed. I'm calling: RecipeManCommands.ReloadRecipes and then RecipeManCommands.GetRecipeCount which returns 0 recipes. None of the methods returns error and if i call them again after RecipeManCommands.CreateRecipe RecipeManCommands.ReadAndSaveRecipe getRecipeCount returns the number of recipes created. hi, anyone else having trouble with opc ua in codesys sp20? i get Error 'BadIdentityTokenInvalid' was returned during ActivateSession i have tried both windows x64 runtime and linux runtime. i have created a completely new codesys project for this. in each of them i have only added the symbol configuration and selected one tag. i have tried several opc ua client, like ua expert, nodejs and python. all return Error 'BadIdentityTokenInvalid' was returned during ActivateSession so the problem must be the opc ua server.

For us, the adjustment on the x-axis works in Codesys 3.5 SP20 with (Container.Width - Visu.Width). However, the y-axis is not affected with (Container.Height - Visu.Height). We implemented this according to the example from Codesys "Optimally adjust position and size" and had no success. Thank you very much for your help.

Hello everyone, I’m integrating Codesys with Kepserver using the Kepware driver for Codesys, and I need to configure a user account with the minimum necessary privileges to read and write to the tags on the PLC, without using the internal OPC UA server of Codesys. However, despite not assigning the Modify permission, Kepware still allows writing to the tags. What are the minimum required permissions to ensure that writing is only allowed when necessary, and how can I prevent other permissions from being overridden? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have a Exor HMI with 2 seperatred ETH interface's. It is Configured as PN Master on ETH interface 1 and the IO's are working, as long as the development PC is connected to the ETH 0 interface. When the PC is disconnected, the PN communication drops and a reconnection is started. I installed the newest device description for Codesys and Firmware for the Panel. The IO Gateway is from Weidmueller What could cause the Problem?

Any reason the ADS1115 wouldnt work with SP20.1 and Runtime 10.0.0.0 on the Raspberry Pi . Using Bullseye or Buster i run into the same issue: Libary and integration works in general as described above BUT i am seeing "bleeding" between the analog inputs . Specifically consecutive ones: So sometimes the raw from AI1 shows on AI2, AI2 on AI3, .. AI4 on AI1. Even with filtering i cant smoothen that out properly and i feel like something is wrong. Almost like the bus is stumbling over itself, or the request from Codesys to the device.

Trying to utilize the persistence manager, but system do not write to file and do not create the config file. System is a Linux SL, version 4.13.0.0 Problems with persistence/config started when I had other problems to go online, I deleted the config file and the persistent files, but the system will not re-create them. I have tried to remove/re-install the "PersistenceManager"-module, create the folder-structure myself. And also reinstall the linux-runtime but its clearly not working. Any help appreciated.

Thanks! As far as I can see, the client can only send words. And on the server side there are an array for each of the functions: bool for coil and discrete, word for holding and input registers. I assume I can use holding register, then use bit mapping on the words instead of coils. But I really want to use the FC15/coils.

I started to experience the same issue, after upgrading to 3.5.19 , and still persists with 3.5.20.3 , using CodesysControlWinV3 x64 on Windows. Unfortunately, this is a live application, normally it is running for months without interruption - so it was a surprise at the last cold start... It was not possible to go online with the original version, so I couldn't see the application, or system status, just the log message. First time I manually clean the Application from the PlcLogic directory (there was no coredump file in there), then I could start the runtime service, and do a fresh download, and set the bootproject. I could not try a cold system reboot - it's in a 24/7 production environment, and I was under heavy pressure to start... What I did, I have created a backup from the * complete * runtime directory, from the failed, and fixed version - before and after download. This directory in my case C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\55096128 - At the next shutdown, it was sufficient to copy back this backup completely, and could start the runtime service afterwards. Ugly, but local staff with some skills can do it without programming tool... I don't store any live data, configuration, log files, persistent data in this directory - the only reason I need this is to edit the CodesysControl... .cfg file.... And to see the logfiles in emergencies like this. The application concerned doesn't use any retain area. - exactly for these reasons - Maybe that is causing the problem with the newer runtime versions As far as I see, this problem occurs only if the power of the Windows PLC is interrupted without a proper shutdown. Unfortunately, this can happen sometimes. The newer versions, seems tp modify CodesysControl.cfg on the fly, and register the applications, and bootproject information after download. (I don't really see CodesysControl.cfg a proper location for this... but that's just my feeling) So now I had a look at CodesysCotrol.cfg on my laptop and I found: [CmpRetain] ;Retain.SRAM.Size=0x200200 ;Retain.SRAM.Address=0xFA3C5776 ;SimulateSRAM=1 [CmpApp] ;Bootproject.CreateOnDownload=0 ;Bootproject.StoreOnlyOnDownload=0 ;Bootproject.InvalidateByRename=1 ;Bootproject.InvalidateBySetting=1 ;Bootproject.InvalidateNever=0 ;PersistentForce=0 ;RetainType.Applications=InSRAM ;RetainType.Applications=OnPowerfail ;RetainType.Applications=None ;Exception.Hardware.GlobalStop=1 Application.1=MyTestAppNoRetain The last line appeared after download and boot project creation. Maybe... Should set RetainType.Applications=None? I wonder about all these settings, but... Will write separately about it. I hope this helps a little...

In the CODESYS IDE I have several symbols defined and I have IEC Symbol Publishing installed. On the IEC Symbol Publishing window and under the IEC Symbols Editor tab, I have dragged symbols from the tree on the left to the grid on the right. All this works fine. Now I want to remove one of the symbols from the grid on the right and I cannot see any way to do this. How can I remove a symbol from the grid on the right once I've added it?
