I'm Having the same issue. If I highlight PLC Logic and import it erases everything else and replaces the Task config. If I highlight the Application I get the same result. Simple manual fix is click and drag the task config onto the origional Application, and delete the second one. Easy fix but not the expected result of importing task config.

Hello! I would like to display the project name on the HMI The project name contains the version number That way, a tech knows which version is loaded on the PLC. Is the a standard way to display this, or do I have to hard-code into the HMI (not ideal)?

I’m trying to integrate a custom PLC into CODESYS so that it appears under the Device section. From what I understand, this requires a .devdesc.xml device descriptor file. I attempted to create the XML manually, but whenever I try to install it in order to generate a .package file, CODESYS crashes. CODESYS version: 3.5.21.20 Target PLC: Linux ARM64–based My questions are: Is there an official or easier way to generate a valid .devdesc.xml file for a custom PLC? Are there tools, templates, or examples that can help ensure the XML is structured correctly and won’t cause crashes? For Linux ARM64 targets specifically, is there a recommended starting point (e.g., modifying an existing device descriptor)? Any guidance or best practices for creating and packaging custom device descriptors would be greatly appreciated.

This... is not very practical for me - as I have a bunch of different classes - it's just doesn't seems to be very practical to define a NULL for each of them... Something like this I use in parameter definitions. For example: VAR_INPUT refVFD_Drive : REFERENCE TO FB_VFD_Drive := GVL_DUMMY.Dummy_VFD; END_VAR I use this to prepare objects for code I don't control: Typycally visualizations - had many troubles with references set on the fly, right before opening a corresponding visualization... And yes, the instance in GVL_Dummy reports itself as "Fake", so it does not influence the actual application at all. Actually this way I could invalidate a reference, just to set it to a "Dummy" instance.

This is from 10 years ago, I know. But I have been using (SLAVE_DEVICE.iChannelIndex = CHANNEL_NUMBER) AND (SLAVE_DEVICE.xDone) I suppose that it shows xDone for the channel that shows up in the iChannelIndex at the same cycle? It seems to be working properly for two devices that I have been using it before But now I have another device and using two write channels, for one register each. One channel works properly and returns DONE flag When another channel is triggered, I see that it shows up in iChannelIndex, but flag DONE not received, but no Error for the channel. Also, when i check the register in the device it's evident that data has been transferred. Is this could happen sometimes with CODESYS, so DONE flag not received? Or this is a problem with a given device? With this certain register

I had the FB called via a for loop to call a few instances of my FB I have removed it the for loop and just called them 1 by 1. This explanation aligns with the issues we’re experiencing with our machines. The scenario I described is happening with one of them (let’s call it Machine A). This machine is identical to another one (Machine B), except for some custom code that facilitates communication with an external Beckhoff PLC for MES integration in the production line. Machine B has been powered on and off daily for at least three months and has never had this problem. Given that, I highly doubt the MES custom code is the cause of the code corruption. This being said, your explanation does seem plausible. However, if faulty EtherCAT cables were the issue, why wouldn't the error occur during normal operation? Why would bad cables only cause problems during a hard shutdown? One last question: When you encountered this behavior, did you see a similar error in your logs? i.e, an "AccessViolation" exception in the EtherCAT Task?

Hello. I am currently working on a WAGO PLC, where I am trying to wrap my head around how the analog inputs and outputs work in codesys. I have looked far and wide on the internet, for a general introduction to the whole concept, but I have not had any luck with finding anything that helped me understand it better. The whole goal is for me to be able to read an analog input from a temperature sensor, as well as using an analog output, to control a frequency inverter. I know these have nothing to do with each other, but that is all I have on hand right now. I am trying to program this using Ladder Diagram. The only thing is, that every video/guide I have seen/read using LD, just adds a whole lot of function blocks, to do all kinds of stuff they don't explain. My general question is, how would one go ahead and read the analog input, as well as transmit an analog output? Is there some kind of specific function block I would have to use for this, or some great video I can watch, to understand the inner workings. Is it somehow possible to see the values the PLC recieved/sends? Regards.

Hi, I'm trying to monitor a specific PGN which I have it sending a pulse every 500mS Problem: Using the Watchdog for the ECU does not really help me as I have multiple instances with separate PGNs, if a PGN goes ghost, the ECU watchdog won't be flagged as the others will be running. If you have a Windows system (RTE), then why not run the CODESYS HMI as separate controller. This could easily be moved to another PC if required. In the HMI you could also still use the Symbolic Var access as part of the Data Source Manager, although maybe OPC is the preferred way to make it more future proof. Or what about the Remote Target Visu. Then you can reduce the load of the main controller, while still only having to create one application including Visualization. This is now also supported for Linux systems. After my tests, I noticed two issues. 1- WinCC disconnects the connection after receiving the GetEndPointResponse message from CoDeSys. (I found it with UAExpert and Wireshark.) 2- It establishes a connection despite waiting for a while on the network with DNS. As a result of this information: I solved the problem by adding the line "193.193.193.150 t9pac" to the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts file and making Windows accept messages coming from the IP number 193.193.193.150 as coming from t9pac. (t9pac is the name of my PLC running CoDeSys.) If there is a setting that will allow CoDeSys OPC UA to respond to GetEndPointRequest with its IP address, this problem will not occur.

Hello everyone, I am currently working on reading data from energy analyzers using Modbus TCP and RTU (RS-485). In my previous software, I used the following method to add slave devices (i have attached the image) and configure registers: Add the Modbus slave device. Configure the communication parameters (baud rate, parity, etc.). Define the registers and their addresses for data retrieval. Now, I am trying to achieve the same in CODESYS 3.5, but I am not sure how to configure the Modbus master, add slave devices, and set up the registers properly. If anyone has experience with Modbus TCP/RTU setup in CODESYS 3.5, I would really appreciate your guidance! A step-by-step explanation or any references/tutorials would be extremely helpful.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. After some investigation, the read-only error was being triggered by a FAT-fs filesystem panic on the kernel end, probably caused by unfinished write/reads causing corruption. I found this thread https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Engineering/thread/e637d252b7/ which seems to give a solution of using SysProcess to send the 'sync' command to the console immediately following a write to prevent issues if power is lost or, in my case, if the unit is harshly power cycled. Indeed this seems to resolve the issue bar the worst possible edge cases.

You get an array of DWORD into your receive buffer. You need to process this into usable data, before you can fit it into your DUT. I've made it work using FbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule in stead of Fb_JSON_ParseAndModify. I've attached images of the code. You receive the data into ARRAY[0..1023] OF DWORD. Then you use that array as the input for fbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule. To get the output from this you define a rule to fit the expected data structure including nesting levels. The you feed the rule into FbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule and then you can set the output to be of your DUT type.

I don't seem to be able to use an axis, which is part of an Axis Group in torque control mode. I call the SMC_SetControllerMode FB to switch from position to torque control mode, followed by the SMC_SetTorque FB to set the desired torque. This works flawlessly for most axes, however if an axis is part of an axis group, switching the controller mode seems to work without any issues, but the desired torque is never set. SMC_SetTorque does not return an error, but fSetTorque of the axis is never changed. Disabling the axis group before does not change anything, but if I use MC_UngroupAllAxes before changing the controller mode, it all works as it should. Is there no way to control a single axis in torque control, if it is part of an axis group?

I have a Topcon Opus B3 ECO Full display and i wanna program it with codesys, but i cant connect it to the display. After creating a new project, i choose the device "Opus B3-B4-B6-3.5.19.50" that is already available in my version of codesys, but i think the problem is that my version of codesys or something else is not the same as the codesys runtime version running on my display. Can anyone tell me how i can see the codesys runtime version on my display? i tried looking in the settings (Daemon > CDS) on the display, but all i see is "N/A" for "Customer Number", "Customer Part Number" and "Customer Serial Number". Can anyone help me make this connection?

When I created a new project in CODESYS using the "Standard Project" template and then added a Visualization, I was receiving the C0138 error during compilation. This issue persisted even with a new, completely empty project. A Quick and Effective Solution (My Method): After many attempts, I solved the problem as follows: From the File -> New Project menu, I selected the "HMI Project" template directly, instead of the "Standard Project" template. After creating the project with this template, I added my POUs, Tasks, and programs (e.g., Ladder, ST). Using this method, the project compiled successfully without any errors. So, my question is: are there any other solutions besides this method?

Hello, I am currently having issues on CODESYS Control for linux SL with DTH expiring. I have followed several tutorials of creating a proper RT linux.
