Post by ryusoup on JSONByteArrayWriter problem? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I am trying to implement a FB to make JSON formatted WSTRING type message using JSON Utilities 1.9.0.0 included in the IIoT library. In my case, I want to set some objects or arrays and set values to them later. But when I wrote as the sample below, // init builder builder(pJsonData:=pJsonData, diRootObj=>diRootObj); // set the 1st key to root diKey1 := builder.SetKeyWithArray(wsKey:="key1", diParentIndex:=diRootObj, eError=>eError); // set a value to the 1st key wsValue:="value01"; builder.SetValue(Value:=wsValue, diParentIndex:=diKey1, eError=>eError); // set the 2nd key to root diKey2 := builder.SetKeyWithArray(wsKey:="key2", diParentIndex:=diRootObj, eError=>eError); // set a value to the 2nd key wsValue:="value02"; builder.SetValue(Value:=wsValue, diParentIndex:=diKey2, eError=>eError); // set a value to the 1st key again wsValue:="value03"; builder.SetValue(Value:=wsValue, diParentIndex:=diKey1, eError=>eError); // set a value to the 2nd key again wsValue:="value04"; builder.SetValue(Value:=wsValue, diParentIndex:=diKey2, eError=>eError); // write build result writer(xExecute:=TRUE, pwData:=ADR(wsResult), udiSize:=SIZEOF(wsResult), xAsyncMode:=FALSE, jsonData:=pJsonData^); the result was: { "key1": ["value01"], "key2": ["value02", "value03", "value04"] } while my expection was: { "key1": ["value01", "value03"], "key2": ["value02", "value04"] } Inspecting pJsonData^, JSONData itself seems to be ok, so I believe the issue is something caused by the writer FB. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thanks,

Post by captaincookie on increase default string length in queue CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I'm using Codesys V3.5 SP18 Patch 4. In the ElementCollectionExample Project from Codesys, I test the SimpleQueueExample in a Control Win V3 x64 environment. I try to add a string of 95 characters length to a queue. The default length of strings is defined as 80 characters. In the initialization of a string variable, it is possible to increase the length by the definition of e.g. STRING(1000). But when I write the string defined like this to the queue, only 80 characters are written to it and the rest is missing. I think the default length is still set in the queue definition, so it is necessary to change this, isn't it? Is there any option to increase the default length of strings in the queue? Attached you can find the used project. Thanks in advance. If any information are missing or my description unclear please let me know.

Post by arundara on Variable Sync Issue In Soft Plc Redundancy CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I was trying to create a redundancy POC for our application where we read data from few modbus tcp devices. As there is a limitaion that modbus tcp device support only for single master device, we wanted to test how the variable sync happens in redundancy mode. For that i have used the redundancy sample code added a variable "b" under a condition. What i observed was while active controller is running, if passive controller is powerup, passive controller is able to sync all the data configured for redundacny. But after that the variable data which resided under a condition is not synching from active to passive controller. I have attached the image where i have highlighter the variable. Can some help me to understand how redundacny work in codesys soft plc and if there is a solution to sync variable which are under condition, please explain the same or suggestion to achieve the same. Hardware - Raspberry Pi (2 qty) Redundancy licence used - yes in both controllers. Codesys runtime - 4.9.0.0 Codesys software version - V3.5 SP19 if i have posted this question in wrong section, please do let me know in whcih section i have to post this question.

Post by open on How to create a stopwatch? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi @ph0010421, I tried the program the TimeTaken is calculated when stop is triggered. I want the TimeTaken to be continuously calculated and counting when a BOOL variable is true. I tried to program this way: Declaration: PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR bStartStop: BOOL := FALSE; // Start/Stop button bReset: BOOL := FALSE; // Reset button bRunning: BOOL := FALSE; // Flag indicating whether the stopwatch is running tStartTime: TIME; // Variable to store the start time tElapsedTime: TIME; // Variable to store the elapsed time END_VAR Implementation: // Main program logic IF bReset THEN // Reset button pressed, reset the stopwatch bRunning := FALSE; tElapsedTime := T#0s; ELSIF bStartStop THEN // Start/Stop button pressed, toggle the running state IF bRunning THEN // Stop the stopwatch bRunning := FALSE; ELSE // Start the stopwatch bRunning := TRUE; tStartTime := tElapsedTime; END_IF; END_IF // Update the elapsed time when the stopwatch is running IF bRunning THEN tElapsedTime := tElapsedTime + T#1s; // Adjust the time increment as needed END_IF However counting of the seconds is not accurate. I tried changing the main task cycle time interval to 1000ms. The counting of seconds become slower. (see attached) Please help

Post by ragarcia on Error while using UpdateConfiguredIPSettings to change IP address CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello everyone, I am trying to change dynamically by code the IP address of a Weidmuller controller. So I am basically using IoDrvEthernet library to use UpdateConfiguredIPSettings function but I am getting constantly the 'INVALID_STATE' error. Even though I am following a procedure it should work: * First I added on the config file of codesys the following: [SysSocket] Adapter.0.Name="eth0" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 Adapter.1.Name="eth1" Adapter.1.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 * Secondly I am first disabling the ethernet interface by using Ethernet_0.Enable = FALSE and then executing DED.Reconfigure. After that, I run the Ethernet_1.updateConfiguredIPSettings Code: Ethernet_1.Enable:= EnableDisable; Reconfigure(xExecute:= TRUE, itfNode:= Ethernet_1, xError=> ErrorReconfigure, eError=> ErrorCodeReconfigure); IF Reconfigure.xDone THEN ErrorCodeIP:= Ethernet_1.UpdateConfiguredIPSettings(IPAddress:= newIP, SubnetMask:= newMask, Gateway:= newGW); END_IF IF Reconfigure.xDone OR Reconfigure.xError THEN Reconfigure(xExecute:= FALSE); END_IF Ethernet_1.Enable:= TRUE; Reconfigure(xExecute:= TRUE, itfNode:= Ethernet_1); IF Reconfigure.xDone OR Reconfigure.xError THEN Reconfigure(xExecute:= FALSE); END_IF Can someone help me? Thank you. All I am trying is to find a way to change dynamically with code, the IP addresses of my controller (2 ethernet ports).

Post by mondinmr on Direct Pointers in IOMapping for EtherCAT with IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Dia CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have found a very interesting solution using: IoConfigTaskMap IoConfigConnectorMap IoConfigChannelMap The first is the list of IO tasks. The second is the connector for each IO module in the IOMap. The third is the individual input or output on the IOMap. One of the properties of the connector is another pointer to a connector, which corresponds with the connector of the EtherCAT slave. Through this information, it is possible to understand to which EtherCAT slave an IO connectormap corresponds. Post by dtamm on How to read string from CharBufferPtr? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I am trying to implement a mechanism to send alarm SMS. For this, I have created an Alarm Class with a Notification Action which calls a POU. This POU implements IAlarmNotifiable making it selectable in the Alarm Class configuration. IAlarmNotifiable has an Execute method which is called by the alarm class. Now, I want to extract the alarm message of the triggered alarm. The Execute method comes with a VAR_INPUT itfAlarm: AlarmManager.IAlarm which supplies a method called GetMessage. The help text says: Returns the message text, that has been configured for the alarm. The result is a pointer to the buffer, where the message text is stored The type of the result is CharBufferPtr, and at some place I read that it can be interpreted as a pointer to string. But I cannot manage to extract the alarm message, all I get are numbers. I have tried the following: psAlarmText := itfAlarm.GetMessage(__SYSTEM.TYPE_CLASS.TYPE_STRING)^; sAlarmText := TO_STRING( itfAlarm.GetMessage(__SYSTEM.TYPE_CLASS.TYPE_STRING)^ ); So how do I get access to the alarm message as clear text? (In this case, "Larm 1")

Post by anlebr on Codesys Communication Manger - Required information model version exists in the model repository but is not found CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi I am trying use the Codesys Communication Manager to set up an Opc ua server with a custom information model. As a start I am using the Boiler model available on Opc foundations github page. I am testing with a Wago CC100 and using Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 6. I get the following error: Communication Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: The information model http://opcfoundation.org/UA/ is required by http://opcfoundation.org/UA/Boiler/ with a minimal publication date from 15/12/2023 but the device has only a model from 15/09/2021 installed. Probably the information model from 15/09/2021 is missing in the information model repository. The error message does not make sense to me. Should it not be “Probably the information model from 15/12/2023 is missing in the information model repository”? Anyway, both versions are available in the repository. How can I solve this?

Post by squiggleypuff on RemoteTargetVisu creates Unresolved Reference CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have a project with a Festo CPX-E-CEC-C1-PN PLC (Run-time version 3.5.12.50) that I have been developing on just fine using Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 5 (64bit). I am at the stage where I wanted to use the Festo HMI screen, and have added a RemoteTargetVisu object to my application. After adding this object, I am no longer able to log in to the PLC as I get an Unresolved Reference warning for 'USERMGRUSERGETPROPERTY' towards the end of the download process. I was able to find this post (https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Visualization/thread/fc686a6cb2/) where the two possible solutions are to "set the placeholder to emtpy" or update the runtime. Problem is, I don't know how to do either of these things, as I'm still very green in Codesys land. I'd be happy to update the Festo PLC runtime, as that seems like the better option, but have not had any luck in finding a tutorial for this online. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Post by squiggleypuff on Can't Add New Version of Modbus TCP Master CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I'm having a tough time trying to get Modbus working on a Festo CPX-E PLC; it throws these pre-compiler errors as soon as I add in my Modbus TCP Master 3.5.12.30 to my project: I'm confused about the C0046 error, as I have IODrvModbusTCP 4.3.0.0 Library installed. So I thought maybe I needed to use the newest Modbus TCP Master 4.3.0.0, which is in my device repository: However, whenever I go to add this underneath the Ethernet adapter (which is version 4.2.0.0), the only TCP Master version available is the old 3.5.12.30 one, even if I have Display all versions checked.: I even went so far as to delete the old version, but then there were no options to add a Modbus TCP Master under my Ethernet adapter. What needs to be done to use the newest Modbus TCP Master? Or are these pre-compiler errors unrelated and I'm missing something? Any help greatly appreciated.

Post by phoward131 on Alarm State Icon CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I am trying to create an icon on an overview screen that depicts if an alarm group has active alarms, active acknowledged alarms, or inactive unacknowledged alarms (waiting for confirmation). I've attempted to set up Notification Actions in the Alarm Class to set variables based on state changes but have been unable to find a clean and effective way to do this. Because an action on any alarm will trigger the variable to be set as instructed, I'm struggling to find a way to configure it for what I need (ie if two alarms activate, then one deactivates, the variable for indicating an alarm is active would be cleared after the single deactivation). I've been pointed toward the Alarm Manager example project but I'm finding it too complicated to understand how to implement it in my own project. Has anyone come up with another good way to indicate the states of alarms or a simpler usage of the Alarm Manager functions?

Post by k2saki on CNC / G01 Speed is very slow (or go-stop motion) in Continuous short segment . CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I'm using CAD/CAM that outputs GCode with G01 many short segments from NURBS Curve, only X-Y axis. But CODESYS CNC motion seems much slower ( or stop-go motion ) in simulation mode than F-Value (I checked value from SMC_Interpolator - dVel ). In GCode G01, F value is F500, but movement is very slow, actual speed (dVel) is between 0 to 30 back and forth. I think very old CNC can move like that, but nowadays, a lot of CNC can move smoothly to process free curve ( somethimes option switch ) I tried to use G51 Dxx but I got the same result. My questions are 1) How do I improve CODESYS CNC motion in this case ? 2) How can I graph the sampling from dVel of SMC_Interpolate in CODESYS? Post by caprez95 on Deleting the trend recording history CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hallo Ich möchte eine laufende Trendaufzeichnung stoppen, den Inhalt löschen und Trend-Diagramm auf 0 zurücksetzen. Laut Codesys soll das mit dem folgenden Code möglich sein: You can insert an input element in the visualization which the operator can use to delete the previous value recording in the trend visualization at runtime. The curve displayed until then is removed and the display starts over. In the application (example: in the program PLC_PRG), implement the following code: itfTrendRecording : ITrendRecording; itfTrendStorageWriter : ITrendStorageWriter; itfTrendStorageWriter3 : ITrendStorageWriter3; sTrendRecordingName : STRING := 'TrendRecording'; itfTrendRecording := GlobalInstances.g_TrendRecordingManager.FindTrendRecording(ADR(sTrendRecordingName)); xClearHistoryTrend: BOOL; IF xClearHistoryTrend THEN itfTrendRecording := GlobalInstances.g_TrendRecordingManager.FindTrendRecording(ADR(sTrendRecordingName)); IF itfTrendRecording <> 0 THEN itfTrendStorageWriter := itfTrendRecording.GetTrendStorageWriter(); IF __QUERYINTERFACE(itfTrendStorageWriter, itfTrendStorageWriter3) THEN itfTrendStorageWriter3.ClearHistory(); END_IF END_IF In the visualization of the trend recording, add a button for deleting the previous curve. Configure its Toggle property with the variable PLC_PRG.xClearHistoryTrend. ⇒ When xClearHistoryTrend is set to TRUE, the previously recorded curve is deleted. The recording immediately starts again. Gruss

Post by xgongx on What is the insights of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
It is well known that you need to increase the value of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow to solve the "Fieldbus lost synchronicity" issue. In the official document, IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow is explained as the toleration of a certain jitter. But the official document doesn't explain what kind of the jitter is. Is it the jitter of DC sync deviation, master timer or something else? It is very important to know the insights of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow. For example, if it is the toleration of DC sync deviation, and the official recommending value is 200us for CODESYS SoftMotion. It means maximum of DC sync deviation is 200us. It is unacceptable for some high precision motion control tasks, for example high speed gear task, etc. Increasing the value of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow will increase the deviation of motor rotation sync if it is the toleration of DC sync deviation. So, would anyone tell me what the insights of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow is? Thanks.

Post by to-ke on Errors with VisuUserManagement library CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have the same error. On a Raspberry Pi the error goes away if I clean everything and then compile completely. When the project is reloaded in the Codesys Development System, the error returns. With a Win V3 x64 PLC I can only prevent the error if I integrate the VUM_Login on the HMI. But I don't need this because I designed the HMI for user management myself. That works too. Anyone have an idea to fix this problem. Many thanks

As I wrote before on the title, I have difficulties to connect to see webvisu from localhost. The story: while waiting for the plc+hmi to arrive, I'm preparing the software, mainly the visual parts trough the control Win3 x64 (same version as the ide 3.5.20.10). The problem is that I can't see the webvisu with the installed webbrowser. I don't know if this is a problem, but I changed the port to 9001 (randomly "free") because 80, 8000, 8080, 8088, 3000 are all occupied by other projects (all on the Apache server). Is there something wrong with the config file? This is the url: localhost:9001/webvisu_app.htm and here the config file part "CmpWebServer". [CmpWebServer] ;The handling of startup/shutdown of the webserver: ;0->automatically start, shutdown only on shutdown of the runtime;1->automatically start, could be shutdown on demand ;2(default)->start/shutdown on demand;3->start on demand, shutdown only on shutdown of the runtime StartupType=0 ;The TCP port the webserver listens on WebServerPortNr=9001 LocalAddress=localhost ;LocalAdapterName=LAN-Connection LocalAdapterName=EthernetPCPLC ;LocalAdapterNameUnicode=L\00A\00N\00-\00C\00o\00n\00n\00e\00c\00t\00i\00o\00n\00 LocalAdapterNameUnicode=E\00t\00h\00e\00r\00n\00e\00t\00P\00C\00P\00L\00C\00 Thanks for all the help!

Post by trusty-squire on Confused by dwIpoTime input for SMC_Interpolator CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Learning Codesys CNC, and I am confused by the dwIpoTime parameter. I have a basic demo application, using SMC_Interpolator feeding into SMC_TRAFO_Gantry2Tool2, which then sets the position of the x/y SM_Drive_Virtual axis. I also have a C axis which revolves the tool, which is controlled using a simple tangential angle calculation SMC_CalcDirectionFromVector. The GCode I'm using has feed/accel set at 500. The axis configuration limits are well above that (2000). What's strange is that, when I run the simulation, the feed speed changes drastically when I update the variable dwIpoTime. The larger the number, the faster it moves. What's going on here? The documentation only says "This variable has to be set for each call. It represents the cycle time in μsec." Why does it change the feed speed I'm seeing the in simulation? What is a good number to use? The example I was looking at set it at 5000. Screenshot attached.

Post by timvh on How to implement an interface (IElement)? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
See: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/element-collect/home/Home/ This contains an application "OnlineChangeSafeLinkedListExample". What you should do is create a new interface which has your "Priority" property. Then your FB should extend the base element function block and implement your own interface: E.g. FUNCTION_BLOCK MyElement EXTENDS COL.LinkedListElementBase IMPLEMENTS I_MyInterface Then the __QUERYINTERFACE does the magic to check if your "element" also implements your interface. Something like this: // Compares this element with itfElement. // Returns 0 if the elements are equal, < 0 if the element is less than itfElement, // > 0 if the element is greater than itfElement. // This method will be called from sorted collections (e.g. |COL.SortedList|) to sort the elements. // IMPORTANT: The underlying value to be compared with MUST NOT be changed during the lifecycle of the object. METHOD ElementCompareTo : INT VAR_INPUT (* The element to compare*) itfElement : COL.IElement; END_VAR VAR itfIntElement : I_MyInterface; xResult : BOOL; END_VAR // We use integer iInt1 for sorting. xResult := __QUERYINTERFACE(itfElement, itfIntElement); IF xResult THEN IF iInt1 < itfIntElement.Priority THEN ElementCompareTo := -1; ELSIF iInt1 > itfIntElement.Priority THEN ElementCompareTo := 1; ELSE ElementCompareTo := 0; END_IF ELSE ElementCompareTo := -1; END_IF

Post by paulorb on STRUCT AT %MW1000 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi I am trying to use STRUCT to parse commands from Modbus/TCP, Modbus client will fill the bytes related to a specific command (type, parameters), then PLC (Codesys) will access the command parameters. A STRUCT will simplify a lot the process of parsing the data, so I don't need to parse byte per byte, address will be mapped to a struct and I can use it for parsing the data. From what I understood, the compiler does not allow me to specify the location of the struct for a %MW register. VAR_COMMAND AT %MW1002: structGenericModbusCommand; This will throw: Bad declaration, use '%ML' for 'structGenericModbusCommand' variable But If I change it to %ML, when you go online you see that it is actually allocating the struct in another memory address. When we go online, on GVL we can see: VAR_COMMAND. structGenericModbusCommand %ML1002 commandType COMMANDTYPE %MB8016 ... %MB8020 I am not specifying a pointer or a reference it is a struct type, why is it mapping to a %MW location (random one). How can I control where it is mapping to? I need a consistent way to map STRUCT to specific modbus address. Is it possible? Thanks, Paulo Note I am using a Codesys OEM: Schneider Machine Expert Logic Builder (M241)

Post by rossanoparis on Clarifications regarding the appropriate runtime system to use CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Thank you @TimvH It is clear that licences are application based and now thanks to your reply I could understand the meaning of RT systems. The RT called "CODESYS Control for Linux ARM SL" can be deployed on a generic debian based ARM system. The RT called "CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi MC SL" is more specific for Rasberry HW. Did I understand correctly? Regarding the RT called "CODESYS Virtual Control SL" despite its description it is not clear to me when to use it. It seems that a project created using such RT system can be deployed on any HW. It sound good obviously, as it means that it is possible to realize a completely abstract project from its hardware. The only limit could be represented by the need of using a specific HW or OS feature, in that case a more specific RT system should be chosen. Is my last consideration correct? Regards Rossano
