Hi aniket-b, this error has nothing to do with the scara3 kinematics, or robotics, or SoftMotion. It means that the EtherCAT bus is not synchronized. The usual cause is that the realtime of the PLC is not sufficient. Hi! I tried setting up the PLC I'm working with (Beijer GN-9373) to connect to a modbus master running on a laptop. I have an ethernet connection (via USB-C to ethernet) between the laptop and the controller. I have tried following tutorial on how to set this up. I have added an ethernet device with the IP-address of the PLC. Further I added a ModbusTCP_Slave_Device with default settings. I get the error "Failed to open TCP Port: 1" when I try to go online with the PLC. Earlier I tested the exact same set up with the soft PLC from codesys. I can then read/write values correctly with the Modbus master i have running on the laptop. Hope anybody can help me with this, thanks in advance!

Hello, I would like to have, if possible, some clarification on this function. That is, I would like to understand if it is useful for managing, fom my development PC, the RTE runtime executed on a remote control. This is what the help says: Remote PLC: Opens the Remote Configuration dialog. By enabling or disabling the Control remote PC, not local option, you determine whether a PLC is used that is on a remote or local PC. Accordingly, the menu commands Start PLC, Stop PLC, and PLC Configuration refer to the local PC or a PC reached on the network. For the remote PC, specify the Target PC address, Port number, and a Timeout value (in ms) for the connection (Remote Timeout [ms]). But does this mean that I also need to install the RTE runtime on my development PC? Is it possible to have some more information? Best regards Roberto Caponi

Hello Everyone, The "Auto Declare" window disappears by itself in the Ladder editor. For example, a new function block is wanted to be added to the Ladder editor. (For example; MC_Jog block and instance name will be fbMcJog). To do this, "Empty box with EN/ENO" is added to the ladder line from the Toolbox on the right and when you type MC_Jog in the empty box and press enter, normally the "Auto Declare" window appears and you are expected to be asked to write the instance name here. However, this "Auto Declare" window closes itself immediately, it does not wait for the user to enter a value or close the window. I often encounter this situation in many IDE versions. Does this seem like a bug? If anyone has encountered a similar problem while creating a new program name, function or function block instance name regarding the "Auto Declare" window and knows a solution, I would be glad if you could share it. I've trimmed down the CAA Serial Codesys example to only listen on one port but, when stepping through the Case structure in debug mode, it jumps out of the structure during a specific point in every scan (I'll point it out below after describing the setup and listing the code). I'm using a Pi 4 Model B, and I have an Arduino Nano Every plugged in via USB which is streaming the following serial message at 1 Hz: Time since opening connection: 1 s Time since opening connection: 2 s ...and so on. I'm forcing xStartTest:=TRUE every scan so that I can step into each line and observe what's happening. What I see is that the port parameters are set and the port is opened with no errors, but the code jumps out of the case structure to the last line every time it reaches (and I step into) the iState:=15 line (at the end of the iState:=0 block). So every scan cycle it goes through the block for iState=0 and jumps out at the same spot. I'm a little new to PLC programming so I may be misunderstanding the flow, but shouldn't this case structure keep moving down in the same scan? If it only handles one case per scan, why doesn't the value of iState persist? Thanks! Update: I restarted the Codesys control today and I was then able to see an error for como1.eError of "WRONG_PARAMETER". I tried doing some digging and another post made me think I should add another line to CODESYSControl_User.cfg, so I now have: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile=/dev/ttyACM portnum := COM.SysCom.SYS_COMPORT1 So now when I set .udiPort to 1, I get "NO_ERROR" but I also don't read anything from the port (i.e. szRead = 0 always). If I try setting the port to 0 (which I'm confused about, because I added a COMPORT1 line but the device shows on the Pi as ACM0), I get the "WRONG_PARAMETER" error again. Is there an easier way to troubleshoot the Pi and view what ports the Codesys runtime is actually able to see while the Pi is running?

Hi There, When using the new ladder editor there is no option for function blocks to Remove uncalled FB call parameters. I also see no update function block. When you double click the function block it no longer opens the function block. I also now get warnings if I insert FB call without a contact in front. Warning is: (Impl)): C0373: Expression or part of it has no effect I take it the new editor must work differently? The only reason for using new ladder editor is the ST execute/block editing is far better, If you have alot of text in the old ST execute the editor window is very small and when online it's even worse. The new ST block seems a lot better Thanks!

If you are not using any specific Raspberry Pi functionality, then probably the "universal" Control Linux ARM SL is the approriate runtime to run on the Pi. For the license it doesn't matter which runtime version you choose, because this is not hardware based anymore, but application based. Best is to use the latest version of CODESYS. To determine which license you need, double click on your device, go to the tab License metrics.... Generate the code for your application and see which license you need based on the metrics of your application.

Some developers export ST code manually and edit it in VSCode, then copy it back. However, a more practical approach might be using automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to extract and inject code into the CODESYS project. You could also check if CODESYS Automation Server or CODESYS API allows better ST access for external tools. https://www.codesys.com/the-system/releases-updates-lifecycle/release-plan-roadmap.html Network drive issues are particularly painful. As a mitigation, you could try using local project storage with periodic cloud sync instead of directly saving to a network drive. Using Rsync or Syncthing for automatic but safe synchronization might reduce risks of file corruption.

"Hello, I'm Cedric Lee, a PLC engineer based in Korea. I'm reaching out about an ongoing issue with the connection when attempting to control Beckhoff modules using Raspberry Pi with CODESYS for the first time. I use CODESYS to target the Raspberry Pi's IP, install version 4.10.0.0 of the CODESYS Runtime Package, and upon pressing Start in the Runtime, the target connects to the Raspberry Pi. However, within about a minute, an error window appears, stating 'no connection to the device. please rescan your network,' leading to the disconnection of the target. This cycle repeats. I've attached some pictures for your reference. I'm using CODESYS Development System V3, Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (installed as 64-bit), and Beckhoff EK1100 modules. If anyone has a solution to this issue, please help. Your assistance is greatly appreciated."

Hi ryusoup, looking for the same functionality. I tried to use your code but couldn't figure out all the details. to enable Listener should it be called once or cyclically? the listener should be called with the intance of FB which you described? should it be this instance to be called cyclically too? I tried to make it simpler, just force the uiYear/uiMonth etc. but couldn't make it work. Could you please share some details how the whole struckture looks like? Would be great if you share an example UPD: found the issue. Your code works. Thanks for the posts

Are you using the Control Win SL (installed together with the development environment of CODESYS)? If yes, you might want to consider using the CODESYS RTE instead. This has real-time capabilities (running on separate core(s)). But to be able to use this, you have to install the CODESYS Ethernet driver for your network interface to be able to let the RTE access the network port also in realtime. For anyone confused with the process visit this link (the bottom section about creating a .pfx file) https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/LibDevSummary/certificate.html#import-of-client-certificates-with-private-key. I solved this problem by creating a .pfx file and importing it into the security store under 'Own Certificates'(must have SP18 or newer to import .pfx). I used a gitbash shell to enter the openssl command that created the .pfx file. Once you import the file, in your TLS context, set your 'sUseCaseName' to be the same as the name listed in the 'Information' column of your imported certificate. This did it for me

Hi all! I'm trying to learn PLC Programing. Today I was making a simple PLC program, as you can see. When I compile the program without the visualization, there are no errors. However, when I add the visualization and then compile it, I get this error. I don’t know how to solve the problem. I have tried the following solutions: rebooting the PC and updating the software. Unfortunately, the "C0138: No matching 'FB_Init" method found" error is a nightmare for CODESYS V3.5 SP21. I'm not sure if anything has been done about this or if anything will be fixed. I've encountered the same issue many times, and it was only resolved by completely uninstalling SP21, deleting all related files and folders from my computer, and then installing SP19. So, I've given up on using SP21 and switched back to SP19patch7. would be great to have such fucntionality. Sometimes it is not clear for user which elemetns are blocked and which are not - the greyed out eleemtns are not so different for low resolution / low quality screeens. What I have in my mind as well is to have a possibility to detect the visu Element clicked on and get its Access Rights. If it is blocked/deactivated, the dialog can be rised with INFO 'please login first with proper rights'. It is possible now to have a Mose event Handler ( Examples -> EventHandler) and rise the dialog out of ST (Exapmpals -> ST Dialogs). I am struggling still with getting the separate Visu Element under the mouse and its structure info

Hi everyone Am trying to make establish MQTT connection , where am using IIOT example for this as a demo mode. where i had given IP-address of of local Linux application as a 172.31.239.67 and port number as 1883 in the PLC_PRG itself, and preparing the publish message by manually as " this is from published message", and this should receive at the subscriber side. Aim: To make communicate external publisher to the CODESYS by using MQTT protocol. By any chance having reference documents about this implementation please share here. and suggest the process to make it possible. I had uploaded reference project file after updating address in th PLG_PRG, kindly assist to configure with the broker

I'm using the SMC_GroupJog2 block from the SM3_Robotics library for manual movement of an AxisGroup in WCS coordinates. The observed behavior is: When pressing X+, the X-axis starts moving correctly. If I press Y+ during the movement, the block interrupts the current movement and starts a new movement in X and Y. If I release any button, all axes stop, even if another button is still pressed. Example: Pressing X+ → X moves Pressing X+ and Y+ → X stops momentarily and starts XY movement Releasing X+ while holding Y+ → all axes stop The expected behavior would be: to allow simultaneous continuous movement on multiple axes to not interrupt movement when another axis is added or removed. Is there a correct configuration of SMC_GroupJog2 to achieve this behavior, or is there another block more suitable for continuous manual jog in AxisGroup (WCS)?

EtherCAT is a point-to-point protocol so it doesn't need a unique MAC address. It would be very useful to set the MAC address to 020000000000, the standard address for this kind of application. (The important bit is the 02 at the start of the address, which means locally-administered MAC.) The stock Windows driver can do this for my i210 card. But the CODESYS CmpEt1000MPD driver cannot. The image shows the setting with the Windows driver. If I set all my customers' cards to this address, then I don't need to deal with this when deploying my application. A simple PowerShell script can be used to set the MAC address once when the NIC is installed and the driver is changed.

Hello, We are using CODESYS 3.5 SP19.70 in an educational environment with several WAGO PFC200 controllers (CODESYS Runtime). Our campus network is currently configured as a /16, which creates a very large broadcast domain. We observe slow device discovery and long scan times when opening the network view. Before restructuring our architecture, we would like to know the recommended network practices for CODESYS: Recommended broadcast domain size for device discovery Possible impact of large networks (/16) on scan performance Usual recommendations (VLANs, /24 segmentation, etc.) Known limitations or points of attention in extended networks Any guidance or official recommendations would be very helpful.
