We are experiencing serious jitter issues on an ARM64 imx8. Until now, on rpi and beaglebone derivatives, and on Intel, we never encountered jitter issues unless they were already present on the device. In this case, as can be seen from the attached graph, we have excellent maximum latency. The cyclictest on the isolated core dedicated to IEC CODESYS tasks shows a latency of 37µs, with an average of 14µs. Usually, on all other devices, with an RT kernel, with the appropriate parameters to avoid frequency throttling, with properly managed IRQs, and with the disabling of large page sizes, the jitter measured by CODESYS is very close to the cyclictest latency. However, on this imx8, we are noticing a fluctuating value of +/- 300µs that seems to be added to this latency, as if something occasionally miscalculates the sleep times by exactly +/- 300µs. hi there , can someone tell me how to deal with this error , please? I use the Linux ARM64SL (4.11) on a bullseye distro and when I want to update or install some package, I have the following reply : pi@NanoPi-R5C:~$ sudo apt upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these. The following packages have unmet dependencies: ** codesyscontrol : Depends: codemeter but it is not installable or codemeter-lite but it is not installable** E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution). and if I try apt --fix-broken install as suggested, I have a proposal to uninstall codesyscontrol ... :-D so I tried to search if there is some Codesys repo: nothing, then I tried to see if ther was something inside Codesys dev (V3.5.20) and I only found that by reading/requesting my device, i spoted that codemeter was too old . I don't see how to deal with this issue. is there a codemeter.deb somewhere ? thanks in advance for any help.

This explanation aligns with the issues we’re experiencing with our machines. The scenario I described is happening with one of them (let’s call it Machine A). This machine is identical to another one (Machine B), except for some custom code that facilitates communication with an external Beckhoff PLC for MES integration in the production line. Machine B has been powered on and off daily for at least three months and has never had this problem. Given that, I highly doubt the MES custom code is the cause of the code corruption. This being said, your explanation does seem plausible. However, if faulty EtherCAT cables were the issue, why wouldn't the error occur during normal operation? Why would bad cables only cause problems during a hard shutdown? One last question: When you encountered this behavior, did you see a similar error in your logs? i.e, an "AccessViolation" exception in the EtherCAT Task?

Some findings on this issue: PEAK CAN Driver is the same as in every PCI card from PEAK. I updated the inf file. Here are my steps: 1. Include right VendorID into the *.inf file 2. Disable Windows driver check (Disable WHQL check). This you need because 3S driver is not certified. You will find steps via google or ask chatgpt :) 3. Select: Select driver from a list and navigate to the folder. Say yes to install an uncertified driver. 4. Driver installed and device without errors I did the same with CAN Card from ESD, but here you dont need to include the vendor ID. In ANY CASE it was not successful. The RTIOwdmgeneric is not available in Codesys or anyhow accassable :( I wonder that it fails in two cases, two suppliers, two driver in the same way. How can RTIOwdmgeneric implemented into the project?

Hello, like the topic name says, i have a problem on one Visu which i cannot reproduce on another Visu. We filter buttons with input locks and visible items with [CURRENTCLIENTID] on different WebVisu's with different ID's, and one time the itfClient used the same Client ID for 2 Clients, so the Visualization on the first ID was wrong, because that one which connected after did not have the same permissions like the first, so the first one was blocked. Raspberry Pi 4 Codesys 3.5.20 sp3 Codesyscontrol 4.15.0.0 based on sdk 3.5.21.0 Hi all, I have found a lot of topics but none of them get me on the right path, therfore i started a new post. Usually i work with plc based systems and codesys but now im trying to create an project where i read out a serial data stream from an arduino connected by an USB port. in the future this need to be more arduino's but first trying to make it work with one I had my program working but i needed to update my raspberry pu to the letest version to get the mimo screen working. Now i tried several rules in the CODESYSControl.cfg and/or CODESYSControl_User.cfg files but i never get the com port opened. At this moment i have an file CODESYSControl_User.cfg with entry: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile.1=/dev/ttyUSB0 I tested the connection with minicom and the data runs fluently. Can somebody help me with what could be wrong? the com port states ERROR_UNKNOWN 5004 when i tried to open.

I am CODESYS neophyte getting my wheels on. My goal is to re-platform an existing PLC application written in 61131 ST I've got the majority of the code/variables in a compilable form - excluding all the IO and comms nuances I am not sure whether this the right forum An important functionality which I implemented on the other platform was totally dynamic modbus devices... Most configurations I have come across impose static MB configs in which all configured devices MUST be present and functional... I have monkeyed around with MB enough to know that herding a half dozen MB cats into a working config can be tricky. I just do them one at a time and dynamically turn them on/off in whatever combination is convenient with ID, IP, baud, parity etc being runtime tweakable. I am totally curious whether this is possible with codesys, or whether its device configuration corrals one into a static cage which requires re-building the code to support flexible variations. I am running ubuntu on a raspberry pi, and installed an application based license Control Basic M on it, it runs a demo program fine, does not timeout etc. however, when I add a modbus TCP device, I start getting errors: <Entry severity="error" component="CmpApp" user="nobody" timestamp="12/18/2023 3:49:42 PM" infoId="24">Online change denied. Hello everyone, I have a working SPI connection (with transferExt) between a Raspberry master with Codesys and an ESP32 slave. I would also like to use a few GPIO pins. Is there a problem with using SPI AND GPIOs? Environment: Raspberry Pi 4+ with Raspian from Oct 23 Codesys V3.4 SP19 Patch 5 with Runtime Version 4.10.0.0 Device: GPIOs B+/Pi2 My problem: The status is displayed as “GPIOs : not running”. And also during mapping the message “The bus is not running. The values shown are perhaps not actual”. However, the variable changes that I make in my program are displayed under “Current Value”. In the Logic Analyzer, the pin toggles during transmission with small intervals of +-4us (seems to be a cyclical disorder, but I don't know where exactly it could be coming from). This applies to pins that I actually use (output) but also to the other GPIOs (not used). With GPIO 4, the line remains permanently high. Attached is a screenshot from the Logic Analyzer. Channel 1,3,5 were GPIO pin 26, 22, 17 Would be very grateful for help. Best regards

Hello! Raspberry pi 2b just is getting a bit slow so decided to go for a Raspberry 5. Project is now upgraded to suit Pi 64 SL... so, now although everything runs perfectly... for some reason my trends will not save! its driving me nuts... ^Tried merging tasks with main program & trends ^tried re-prioritizing tasks (shifting 1 - 31 etc) ^Recreated the Trend Recording manager from scratch ^Tried swapping persisitant vars to GVL Retains then non-retains... (Project attached is as per before trial&error) Raspberry Pi 2b still runs "perfectly" though its very chuggy (Still saves the trends, note this is of an pretty much identical project minus the device compatibility) Does anyone have any advice to offer? project attached.... I feel it could be outside of Codesys itself causing the issues, but cant see/find anything on the internet to assist (or anyone else with the same problem as me...) Can attach project in another format (non archive) any assistance is much appreciated!

Hello everyone! I'm facing a weird issue with CODESYS Control Win V3 x64 on a fresh Windows install. The situation is as follows: CODESYS Modbus TCP Server (Slave) is running and I can see live values in the mapping display of Modbus settings: GVL (e.g., 32, 42, 50). Port 502 is LISTENING according to netstat. When connecting via Modbus Poll or Node-RED, the connection status changes to ESTABLISHED and everything reports as fine. The Problem: Despite the successful connection, all holding registers return 0 no matter what. It's like the OS accepts the TCP handshake, the request counter goes up but the data payload never reaches Modbus Client (in this case Node-RED or Modbus Poll). Quick Stats: Firewall: Completely OFF. Unit ID: Verified & Matching. IP: Tried 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.0.1. Interface: Correctly bound in Ethernet Device settings. I already tried absolutely everything from changing IP address, subnet, port, deleting the project and starting new one and even nuking my old Windows install. Since I am near completion of my bachelor thesis only thing left for me to do is connect SoftPLC to NodeRED via Modbus but this issue is driving me crazy for weeks. I do not know what to do anymore.

Recently, there have been some changes in the CODESYS licensing policy. The CODESYS key is passed as a USB defice to the VM. I wonder why there are different statements regarding the suitability in virtual machines and if the jitter would be reduced by installing CODESYS runtime on the host installing CDS runtime on the host and using a preemptive kernel (if available for the PROXMOX installation leaving CDS runtime where it is (on the virtualized debian machine) and install a preemptive kernel on the host and on the guest... Hi, I am quite new to Codesys and I try to do a Profinet connection to an Siemens PLC (315-2DP) with CP343-1 Lean Modul. I already configured the Siemens PLC, exported the GSDML. Then I added a new project in Codesys, added following moduls: - Ethernet - PN_Controller - Imported Profinet Device via GSDML importer When I start the programm everything looks fine but I always get the message "Stopped Profinet" and no data is available This is only for a small test. Therefore I start to do that on a Windows 10 with Development System. Later I will try to realize this on Raspberry. Ethernet Adapter is configured (192.168.1.1 / 24) Firewall deactivated WinPCap is installed S7-Station seems to be found ('fuadazenzitest') Can please somebody help me?

In my projet I use Softmotion. There are several Softmotion axis (type SM_Drive_Virtual). In the Global Variable List I have an array of pointers to the adress of the Axis. Hallo everyone, I am working on new PLC of Weidmueller that uses Codesys SP19. I made the upgrade at the Patch 4 coming from patch 0. Unce made the upgrade everything is working well in the progect except the web visu user menagent. In the new version, when I perfom the login, I cannot use the keyboard of the device; the window where to digit the user name and password opens, the buttons "OK" and "Cancel" work but the system doesn't allow to put input from the device keybord, the mouse behaves as it is an image. If I active the virtual keypad or numpad it works otherwise nothing. I am wondering if it is a bug of the new package or if I must set something else. Thanks in advance, Riccardo.

Hello everyone, I have a problem with the example project Responsive Design Example, which is available here in Codesys Forge. I wanted to try switching the visualization depending on the device type. To do this, I used a smartphone to access it. I can see via breakpoints that the Smartphone visualization is selected, but the visualization of the normal monitor still appears on the smartphone. Could there be a problem with the libraries, or why is the device not assigned the correct visualization page? I dont know how do further debuggin or troubleshooting. Hi! What are the best practices for querying multiple Modbus devices? Single PRG or maybe multiple PRG (so basically multiple thread) per each Modbus device. In my current implementation I'm using single PRG and I'm utilizing FbMbMasterMultiQuerySerial and WagoAppPlcModbus.FbDigitalTwinMbSlaveDevice in eCockpit with PFC200. I've the timer with 2 seconds delay there and it was working fine for single device. But now I have three Modbus devices and for two of them I need to run 2/3 queries to get data from all registers. I noticed that the delays for getting the data from the Modbus devices is much bigger right now.

I want to read and write parameters of an IO-Link device using acyclic messages. I have a Cube67+ in Ethernet/IP, connected to an IO-Link master. In the datasheet, I can find the parameters required for the message (Service, Class, Instance, etc.). I see the function block "Set_attribute_single" in the "EthernetIP Services" library, but I'm not sure how to correctly send the index and sub-index for the IO-Link device. The class in the datasheet is 0x80 for the IO-Link Parameter Object, but it’s not present in the CPIClass enum. Is there another function block more suitable for configuring IO-Link devices? (similar to "iol_call" in PROFINET or what’s used in EtherCAT).

Hi! I was thinking of switching the OPC server config from "Symbol Configuration" to the "Communication manager" in the device tree. I Have a lot of arrays of structs that I have previously declared in the "Persistent Variable" object in the device tree. It seems as it is not supported to directly expose persistant variables to the OPC server like the "older" way of doing it in the symbol config. Is this correct? Do you recommend to just do it the old fashioned way, or should I edit the structure of the global variable list / persistant data / OPC server and set up the OPC server from the "Communication manager" object?

The one thing I don't like is the way the tags end up being named in the HMI application. In the logic application I have a program named PLC_PRG. It has a variable named testDINT. In the logic application the name I get for this variable is DeviceSet.CODESYS_Control_Win_V3_x64.Resources.Logic.Programs.PLC_PRG.testDINT. This is very long and looks like it could change if I used this on a different device type. Any ideas how I could get this name shortened down to just PLC_PRG.testDINT like it is on the Logic application?

Hi, Might be a good idea first to try out the connection and the device with some handy software, like Modbus Poll. There you can see better, what's really going on... - Is it really connected? - What error code does it return? - Can it read from the register address? - Maybe try Input registers and Holding Registers - can make a difference - Sometimes register addresses are messed up: shifted +-1 (mixing of 2 standards) - Sometimes register addresses start with offset 30000, 40000 ... - Are you using the right protocol? - Is it RTU or TCP? Maybe ASCII? - Can even have a look at the data packets, etc... All this is easier to figure out first with some modbus utility... and then to set it up in CODESYS should not be an issue. P.

Hello I need some help understanding how to use Modbus RTU (COM port) in Codesys enviroment. I defined a Modbus Server device (slave) in device tree and added some channels to read from (function 3). Also I set trigering mode to Application. I have a POU in which I want to trigger each channel one after the other something like this (C code for better visualisation): for (int i = 0; i < channelsCount; i++) { triggerChannel(channelsArray[i]); // Start transmission while(channel.xBusy); // Wait for transmission to complete } I have found ModbusChannel function block documentation but examples are scarce. I don't understand how rising edge triggering works. What would be the best solution for achieving sequntial channel triggering? What is the common way to read multiple Modbus channels once every time a specified POU is executed?
