I am looking to read in the absolute position of a yaskawa servo drive Sigma 7 that is using absolute encoder. It looks like yaskawa outputs this across there CN1 I/O connecter and during operation just outputs encoder pulses. But at boot up transmits the Multiturn data position and the Position within one rotation (pulse train) on two different wires. Once the drives are enabled it just uses incremental pulses. Does any one have experience with what IEC blocks to use to read this information in. I attached the Yaskawa Manual section that talks about the format.

Hello. I am using codesys 3.5. I would like to know if it is possible to set a variable to an output without declaring in. I have defined a STRUCT and within this struct I have a Struct for inputs called I and a struct for outputs called O. I have declared a variable of the type of this Struct, I would like to set or alias the value in this variable to an input/output value of an IO block that has a module on the ethernet tree. Is it possible to copy the contents of %IW0 -> STRUCT.I ? The size of both of these is 2 bytes. I understand that I can declare a variable with the input like Input01 AT %IX0.0 : BOOL; However how can I make STRUCT.I.D00 AT %IX0.0? Is this possible? Thanks

Hello, Thank you for your answer. I'm afraid I was not clear on what I was trying to achieve. I'm trying to change parameters and command axes from inside a function block and the first thing that came to my mind was pass both the EtherCAT slave and axis to the function block (as image attached). But, I believe it's worse than just pass directly the EtherCAT slave address to the function block (is it???). However I was wondering if there was a way to get the EtherCAT address directly from the axis, so I don't need to pass the EtherCAT slave nor the EtherCAT address to the function block. Hi, Might be a good idea first to try out the connection and the device with some handy software, like Modbus Poll. There you can see better, what's really going on... - Is it really connected? - What error code does it return? - Can it read from the register address? - Maybe try Input registers and Holding Registers - can make a difference - Sometimes register addresses are messed up: shifted +-1 (mixing of 2 standards) - Sometimes register addresses start with offset 30000, 40000 ... - Are you using the right protocol? - Is it RTU or TCP? Maybe ASCII? - Can even have a look at the data packets, etc... All this is easier to figure out first with some modbus utility... and then to set it up in CODESYS should not be an issue. P.

Hello everyone, I am currently working on reading data from energy analyzers using Modbus TCP and RTU (RS-485). In my previous software, I used the following method to add slave devices (i have attached the image) and configure registers: Add the Modbus slave device. Configure the communication parameters (baud rate, parity, etc.). Define the registers and their addresses for data retrieval. Now, I am trying to achieve the same in CODESYS 3.5, but I am not sure how to configure the Modbus master, add slave devices, and set up the registers properly. If anyone has experience with Modbus TCP/RTU setup in CODESYS 3.5, I would really appreciate your guidance! A step-by-step explanation or any references/tutorials would be extremely helpful.

I got a Wago PFC200V2, running Codesys 3.5.16.40, 100ms scan cycle, consumes about 20ms. It will randomly crash the runtime every 10 minutes to a few hours. We suspect an overloaded ModbusTCP Slave Device, as this is work done by a 3rd party contractor, but we can not find anything in the help files or documentation, that mentions a hard limit on maximum number of clients connections. This PLC currently has 44 client connections to the Slave Device and 29 slaves configured for its own Master Device. I'm programming an HMI for a machine. I want to log all the parameter's changes (used text field for displaying and changing) for particular User levels. Created a Numpad and want to log oldvalue and Newvalue on 'ok' Button press. To retrieve the oldvalue, i check if the dialogue opened is my Numpad, Then I retrieve the dialogue interface via GetDialogInterface(ADR(myNumpad)) --> numpadData.stVariableValue which contain my oldvalue and save it locally. Problem is sometimes i retrieve the data and sometimes not. Also observed when Numpad Dialogue is Opened, VisuDlgUtil_IsDialogOpen returns False in some cycles.Attached you will find my Project. please let me know what went wrong or if there is a better approach to collect old and New Value of a textfield. Hi In the POU section of my project I have created a Fan function block and defined an alarm group template for this FB with one alarm (Motor fault). In the PLC program I define two instances of the fan function block. When going to the alarm configuration and pressing "Create or update alarm instances", I get two alarms listed. So far so good. However, when I start my program and check the alarm table in the visualization I only see one alarm, even if both are active. Am I doing something wrong, or is it not possible to define alarms on a function block level and get one set of alarms per instance of the function block?

You need to activate an individual license (ticket number) for each device. THe hardware of each device is unique, so you cannot copy a soft container from one device to another. This license can be installed in a local (wibu - codemeter) soft container, or you could optionally activate it on a hardware (USB) key. The benefit of the key is that you can easily move it to another device, nor does it get lost when you replace parts of the hardware of the device or completely overwrite the image. I have updated CODESYS development tool to the version v3.5 SP21 (64bit) The previous version was v3.5.20.40 Compiling an existing application with the new evelopment tool I get the following error. kunbusiodrvrevpibridge, 1.4.1.0 (kunbus gmbh): IoDrvScanModules [IoDrvRevPiBridge](Line 51, Column 1 (Impl)): Internal Error (ARM): Unsupported conversion! This error was not reported in the previous compiler version and is now highlighted in a third-party library, which I cannot change or modify. The error is due to the following conversion: m_udiError := TO_UDINT(excCode); . The excCode variable is a system type, declared as shown below, and should be converted to a UDINT excCode : __SYSTEM.ExceptionCode; m_udiError: UDINT; . However, when I want to use the library I get the error message: Uresolved reference: *'CMPMYADDERADD' * Can you give me a hint what step I missed or where I need to declare the dll, such that the dll resp. the reference can be resolved. Hi, sorry for the late reply. After some investigation, the read-only error was being triggered by a FAT-fs filesystem panic on the kernel end, probably caused by unfinished write/reads causing corruption. I found this thread https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Engineering/thread/e637d252b7/ which seems to give a solution of using SysProcess to send the 'sync' command to the console immediately following a write to prevent issues if power is lost or, in my case, if the unit is harshly power cycled. Indeed this seems to resolve the issue bar the worst possible edge cases.

Hi, I am interested in details about the .ret file in the filesystem. I have already a project where the file is used (write on demand, read by start) and I want to share it as 'default input' for test devices using the identical application. Opening the .ret file content in a hex editor (I only use a single string retain var) I asked myself what the meaning of the first 24 bytes is. It neither contains a handle to the application nor a reference to the variable. Is this maybe a timestamp? Or a CRC/checksum? Regards, Thomas

Hi All, I have problem with ModbusFB.ClientSerial. I'm using 4 different port for Modbus communication. After some time of running program ClientSerial stops to receive data to reply buffer and all request finish with Reply Timeout. The Device sent reply correctly,that it is visible on oscilloscope and it is possible to see that data( reply )are in the device. If the usbtty device is read over external app. then it is possible to see all data which were not taken by ModbusFB.ClientSerial. The stack does not overflow or something , program runs correctly forward and no exceptions or something. The main problem it is that when the error occur than it is not possible to reset port or something or maybe i'm doing it wrong way. please help me with this issue. Hi, Could you please send an print of your ethernet adapter info? Ip addr Subnet Mask Default Gateway Also, check if the gateway service is active in your windows. Win+R > services.msc > Look in the list CODESYS Control Win V3 x64 Gateway OR CODESYS Gateway V3 Hook up the M12 code D into the ETH port, supply the controller, it should apperars to you. Make sure when you try to connect with the controller, the target of your project has to match with the controller. Otherwise, click on the device in the devices tree > Communications Settings tab > Device > Options > And disable "Filter Network Scans by Target ID". Good luck.

However, a more practical approach might be using automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to extract and inject code into the CODESYS project. You could also check if CODESYS Automation Server or CODESYS API allows better ST access for external tools. https://www.codesys.com/the-system/releases-updates-lifecycle/release-plan-roadmap.html Network drive issues are particularly painful. As a mitigation, you could try using local project storage with periodic cloud sync instead of directly saving to a network drive.
