Hello everyone, I have been given the task to develop I/O drivers for a custom made, Linux based board to allow for Codesys applications to run and control the hardware. I have successfully installed Codesys Control SL for ARM/Linux and tested it with a simple demo application. Now I should start interfacing the runtime to the actual hardware; I should be able to interact with 2 RS485 serial ports, a few GPIOs and an I2C port, all of which already have the corresponding /dev/ interface in the Linux system. I am having trouble understanding how it should be approached. I have found sporadic references that fail to lead to a really comprehensive documentation. For example: The store page (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-control-for-linux-arm-sl-1.html#options) mentions a "runtime package" that should allow "Integration of existing C code" and "Usage of local I/Os", which seems exactly what I need to interact with custom peripherals. I have found no further reference to Codesys-C interpop. The Codesys Help page for the runtime package has a page on the "Development of Drivers" (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Control/rtsllinuxrbpdriverdevelopment.html) that suggests to either "Implement a function block" or "Implement I/O drivers". Those in turn lead to this page (https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/) which describes briefly an XML schema to describe new devices; unfortunately, it doesn't mention what to do with such a description (i.e. how does the runtime know about it) or how it is in any way connected to the actual hardware. Could anyone give me some pointers? I should also mention I have no prior experience with Codesys, so maybe I'm missing an obvious answer.

Guten Morgen, wie der Titel verrät soll es hier um das Ausrollen der CODESYS Runtime auf einem Raspberry Pi gehen. Ob ein klassischer Raspberry Pi aus dem Consumer-Bereich oder ein Compute-Modul spielt in dem Fall keine Rolle. Ich möchte nur anderen Nutzern Hilfestellung geben, die vielleicht ein vergleichbares Problem haben wie ich: Auf Raspberry Pi lief bei mir eine Anwendung, die mit Lizenzen auf einem CODESYS-Dongle lizenziert waren (Multicore-Support und Softmotion). Nach einem Hardware-Defekt habe ich meinen Rasperry Pi gegen eine robustere Lösung getauscht. Ich wollte auf der neuen Hardware die Runtime ausrollen und habe ständig den Fehler gezeigt bekommen, dass die Target- oder Zielsystem-ID nicht stimmt. Für den Raspberry Pi gibt es ja drei verschiedene Optionen der Runtime: 32bit Singlecore (armv6l) 32bit Multicore (armv7l) 64bit Multicore (aarch64) Entscheidend dafür, ob die 32 oder 64 Bit Runtime benötigt wird ist das auf der dem Raspberry Pi installierte Betriebssystem. In meinem Fall hatte ich durch die neue Hardware auch ein aktuellen Betriebsystem-Image aufgespielt, weshalb sich da der Umstieg von 32 auf 64Bit eingeschlichen hatte. In der Entwicklungsumgebung kann über Tools -> Control SL ausrollen das Fenster geöffnet werden, um die richtige Laufzeitumgebung auf dem Steuerungsrechner zu installieren. Bei kleinen Bildschirmen (bei mir ein 15" Laptop) kann der rechte Bereich "abgeschnitten" und das Dropdown-Menü als solches nicht auf den ersten Blick erkennbar sein. Mein Fehler war, dass ich den Scrollbalken nicht gesehen habe! (Bild im Anhang mit freundlicher Genehmigung von Herrn Heberle vom CoDeSys-Support) Nach dem auswählen der jeweils passenden Version kann die Runtime installiert und das Programm wieder geladen werden. Die Lizenzen sind bei mir wieder korrekt erkannt worden und alles läuft wie vorher (nur mit neuer Hardware). Vielen Dank an der Stelle noch mal an die schnelle Hilfe vom Support. Das hat wirklich top funktioniert.

Hallo und guten Morgen, Ich danke für die Rückmeldung. ich habe das oben geschriebene durchgeführt und auch festgestellt das mit die Commandos für die Can befehle noch fehlen. Die nachricht ist auch am anderen CAN Adapter sichtbar gewesen. Wie bekomem ich den einrichteten Adapter in Codesys rein? das ich den Befehl sudo ip link set can0 up type can bitrate 500000 das ich die Einrichtungs des Can Adapters noch in die Rasperry Start rutine nehmen muss ist mir klar. Hi all, I’m currently trying to improve my OOP structure in CODESYS and I’m looking for some input on how others approach this. I understand the basics like inheritance, interfaces, abstract FBs, methods, and properties, but I still struggle a bit with the overall architecture and what’s considered clean or scalable in bigger projects. As an example, I’m working on two different energy meter function blocks: FB_EnergyMeter_MQTT reads data from MQTT (strings) FB_EnergyMeter_Modbus reads data from Modbus (words) Both have their own Update() method and implement the same interface (something like IF_EnergyMeter). Later on, I’ll probably add more meter types, but they should all behave the same from the controller’s point of view. Now, there’s a FB_GridControl block that needs power data from these meters. I see two options here: Define the meter blocks inside FB_GridControl and call them directly (for example fbModbusMeter.UpdateModbus()). Keep the meter blocks outside and pass them into FB_GridControl as interface references, so the control block doesn’t know which specific type of meter it’s dealing with. Option 2 feels cleaner and more flexible to me, but I’m not entirely sure how to handle the data flow in that case. Should I pass the meter instance through an interface reference (REFERENCE TO IF_EnergyMeter)? Or is there a better way to link the external FBs to the control block? I’d like to hear how you structure this kind of setup or see an example from someone who has done something similar. Since parameterized (indexed) properties are not possible, I decided to use architectural approach "Indexing Property Adapter" to achieve the intended goal — avoiding code duplication for validated access to array elements. Essence: Create a Function Block Adapter (FB_PropertyAdapter) that encapsulates the logic for working with a single element of the target array (e.g., with one settings structure). Declare Properties inside the adapter block for accessing each individual field of the data structure. All validation logic is implemented within the Set accessors of these properties. Data Binding via VAR_IN_OUT: The adapter block receives a reference to a specific data element from the global array through its VAR_IN_OUT section, which ensures direct work with the original data without copying. Create an Array of Adapters: In the parent POU (e.g., FB_SettingsManager), an array of these adapter blocks is created — one for each element of the global array that needs to be managed. Initialize Bindings: In a FOR loop, each adapter instance from the array is given a reference to the corresponding data element. Result: This approach allows accessing the data via the index of the adapter array, and then through the property name, which simulates the behavior of an indexed property: MyAdapterArray[Index].MyProperty Thus, the validation and data access logic is written only once inside the adapter block and is then reused multiple times by creating instances of it in an array. This completely solves the problem of code duplication while providing a clean, scalable, and object-oriented architecture compatible with standard CODESYS features. Question closed.

Dear forum, We are currently doing some research on the Codesys KNX implementation (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-knx-sl.html). We almost have it working but we are missing the last part. The setup: We have a Codesys virtual control container running on docker (4.17.0.0), the I/O is running over an Ethernet IP coupler (Weidmüller), and this is running fine. As far as I’m concerned this tells me that the ethernet device is working properly (the container has access to the outside world, including multicast). Underneath this ethernet adapter the KNX module is added (see picture). In the KNX device (Codesys) 2 input variables are added (see picture), and these are exported to ETS (ETS 5). In ETS A Codesys KNX device has been imported and the Codesys export was imported, afterwards the group addresses are attached to the variables (see picture). Afterwards this configuration is downloaded to the Codesys controller (Container) via ETS. ETS asks for the pressing of the programming button, when the virtual programming button is pressed the download starts and finishes without any errors. This tells me that ETS is communicating with the Codesys controller, and that the download process is ok (so far so good). Now the part where we are struggling with, somehow we need to convert the KNX TP to KNX IP. For this we have the following interface: Zenio KIPI SC (https://www.zennio.com/product/kipi-sc/) this is a KNX TP to IP interface. We have the following setup for this device (see picture) (an IP in the same subnet is used). We tried multiple combinations of IP addresses but the TP devices are simply not communicating to the Codesys container. Does anyone has any advice on what to try next. To make the question more explicit how can we link the TP bus to the Codesys device? Kind Regards Alex

I have an IFM cr1077 display. I would like to show B&R mapp view on IFM visualization. I used coedsys web browser elemnt for this. I could see IFM working fine in Internet web browser but IFM device shows white screen and freezes. I think there is problem with IFM showing the web browser. Is my understanding of the web visu right? am I doing any mistake here?

Hello, We are trying to implement an automated method of adding of a certificate and private key to the Windows certificate store for encrypting CODESYS projects. We want to do this so that users do not have to deal with details of certificates at all and to prevent user error. We are keen on enforcing strong private key protection since it ensures that a password is required for the certificate to be used to decrypt a CODESYS project. When we add a certificate to the certificate store and enable strong key protection using the Microsoft Management Console Certificates snap-in, it works as expected. However, through this method the user may mistakenly not enable strong private key protection. For the certificates we create programmatically (using Microsoft’s Cryptography Next Generation API in .Net 7) bag attributes are added to the certificate and key by the API. These bag attributes are as follows: Bag Attributes localKeyID: 01 00 00 00 subject=C = xx, ST = xxx, O = xxx, OU = xxx, CN = xxx issuer=C = xx, ST = xxx, L = xxx, O = xxx, OU = xxx, CN = xxx -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- [encoded certificate] -----END CERTIFICATE----- After using this certificate with bag attributes to encrypt a CODESYS project, it can’t be decrypted, showing this error: "The specified project could not be loaded. Possible reasons might be: - The project file is corrupted or invalid - The project has been saved with a newer version of the programming system. If this is the case, you can open the project in the corresponding version. Choose "Save as..." with the appropriate storage version, and retry again. - You may not have the necessary permissions to lad the project" We know that the bag attributes are causing the issue because if we manually edit the certificate file to remove them before using the certificate to encrypt a project, the project can be decrypted as expected. However, we are unable to automatically enforce strong key protection using this method. Hello, I have been using CODESYS for a while and after updating to version 3.5.18.50 the code randomly stops with this fault. Why is that ? I have tried to locate the fault in the Call Stack but I dont know what to do now... I have updated the projects properly for the version I am using. This fault started happening after like 14 days of using the new version of CODESYS.

I´ve been training the use of a RPI as PLC, which works pretty well, however while both the RPI and PC (running codesys) remain connected to the same network. Moin, ich arbeite an einer Visualisierung einer Fernbedienung, die auf mobilen Geräten laufen soll. Bei Iphones ist uns die Eigenheit aufgefallen, dass bei langem druck auf einen Button, die gesamte Seite markiert wird und dann kopiert werden kann. Manchmal popt auch die kleine Lupe auf, die einem helfen soll den Courser genauer zu platzieren. Weiß jemand ob man dieses Verhalten vielleicht durch zusätzliche Einträge in der webvisu.htm unterdrücken kann? Gruß, Daniel

Hi, I am new to modbusTCP and I am trying to access Input registers from codesys (3.5.SP13). The offset is 16#0000 and I am trying to access Channel 1[24] %IW24 to pull analog values. I am using pyModbusTCP and I need to supply a modbus address and the number of registers to read. What does 16#0000 mean in terms of the actual offset, how do I translate this number plus the channel to access this info via python? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I'm not really sure what you are trying to do, but maybe you are referring to using the CmpCharDevice library? When you "open" the connection to a device, you can pass flags. What helped me is to set the non-blocking flag. Hi, I try use IIoT library to send and receive SMS by Raspbery PI and Codesys. I installed IIoT package and added the SMS library, But something is wrong, when I init communication it doesn't work, When I sniffer my communication (AT commands) beetwen RS232 RaspberryPi and my GSM modem I have only below commands: AT+CMEE=1 OK AT+CPIN? +CPIN: READY Anyone have idea what can be wrong ?

Hallo zusammen, ich arbeite mich momentan in das Thema IO-Link ein. Benutze einen Revolution Pi, IO-Link Master (AL1333 IFM), Sensor (OGD500 IFM) und ein IO-Link I/O Modul (AL2205 IFM). EDS-Dateien und IODD Dateien über das Geräte-Repro eingebunden. Bekomme jetzt folgenden Fehler:- Die Lizenz fehlt oder ist ungültig. Die SPS läuft im Demo-Modus. Welche Lizenz wird benötigt, um IO-Link fähigen Sensoren meinen IO-Link Master hinzuzufügen? Benutze die Codesys V3.5 SP19. Gruß Chris PS: Anbei das Bild

Hi! I have som variables that I communicate to a Modbus Master. These variables are declared in a "Global Variable List" where I have assigned them memory addresses. To organize this mapping I want to make a MODBUS list where I show all the variable names together with the memory address. Is there an easy way to export this list from CODESYS? Either through script or some export function maybe?

As most of the posts are moved here around 2015, what would be the right version of codesys to run? Would it be better to install a older version of codesys or should i keep on downgrading libraries? Is there any work done to update theses libraries? It´s been a few years since the last update in this post, are there new libraries/devices for raspberry being added/posted somewhere else? I had one RPI device where I could login. I copied the SD-flash over to another SC-flash. This new SD-flash was inserted in the new device. I can boot the new device but I cannot login why? How can I install an application on this new device? you need at them moment a download once (for the configuration files generated including addresses) then stop the plc - exchange the persistence file ( without the config file) This will be improved to 3.5.18.6 and 3.5.20.0. (possible then to generate offline bootproject including full persistenmanager files) - this is if you have not 100% the same bootapplication on the devices. In case you copy the whole Application (PLCLogic) directory it should work out of the box - but only with 100% same bootprojects as mentioned above. By the CODESYS Automation Server would help solve this too.

Hi everybody, I am looking for a solution to send files, for example, to an ftp or a cloud. I can't use oscat library because 64 bit controller are not supported. Therefore, I see that the IIoT library has some functions that might help me to implement this sending process in codesys. Does anyone have any examples of how to do this? I have spent some days with this issue without success. Best regards.
