I have been struggling for over a week to program my rapspberry pi 4 with codesys. I purchased the license. I installed the runtime and the gateway, and I can see the pi in the communication settings. But cannot log in. I have checked the status of the pi with sudo systemctl status codesyscontrol and it is running. I have enabled traffic to and from the pi with iptables and checked the logs and all looks good. I just cannot connect through the codesys ide. Can anyone help me before I lose my mind?

I don't know why the EtherCat fails, but what happens is: First I have only one 1WireMaster running on my Raspberry Pi and EtherCat is running fine. Then I'd like to add a 2nd 1WireMaster. Therefore I enable a 2nd GPIO Pin on the raspberry in the file "/boot/firmware/config.txt". dtoverlay=w1-gpio,gpiopin=4,pullup=0 dtoverlay=w1-gpio,gpiopin=23,pullup=0 To be able to use this 2nd 1WireMaster in Codesys Runtime I Adjust the CODESYScontrol.cfg file and add there: PlaceholderFilePath.2=/sys/devices/w1_bus_master2, $OneWire2$ After a reboot the EtherCat Master is not working any more. I didn't even add a 2nd OneWire Master in Codesys, but still if I do the EtherCat does not work. Do you have an idea why?

Hello, I'm trying to understand the reason for the many errors on the EtherCAT master status page. If we set the cycletime to 1ms we see a lot of rxerrors and lostframes, but the send and recive times are quite good (see attachement). And the status of the EtherCAT bus is good (no other errors, all is green, slave has no errors) But when we set 2ms cycletime the lostframe errors are gone, but periodically increses rxerror counter (see attachement). The questions is, what do these errors actually mean and what we can do to get gid of them? Linux RT, imx8, Codesys runtime for ARM 3.5.21.10, Ethercat 4.10 Thanks

Sorry, I've never used Raspy. Maybe someone else can help. From personal experience, I've had license activation issues, but it was caused by my company firewall, which was blocking traffic from the Codesys license server. So I found that the license was listed as activated on the server (and therefore used and no longer activable), but it wasn't present in the PLC. I solved the problem by using an unblocked internet connection when I needed to activate the purchased license ticket. Since then, the activation process has always worked, and I've never lost any licenses.

Since parameterized (indexed) properties are not possible, I decided to use architectural approach "Indexing Property Adapter" to achieve the intended goal — avoiding code duplication for validated access to array elements. Essence: Create a Function Block Adapter (FB_PropertyAdapter) that encapsulates the logic for working with a single element of the target array (e.g., with one settings structure). Declare Properties inside the adapter block for accessing each individual field of the data structure. All validation logic is implemented within the Set accessors of these properties. Data Binding via VAR_IN_OUT: The adapter block receives a reference to a specific data element from the global array through its VAR_IN_OUT section, which ensures direct work with the original data without copying. Create an Array of Adapters: In the parent POU (e.g., FB_SettingsManager), an array of these adapter blocks is created — one for each element of the global array that needs to be managed. Initialize Bindings: In a FOR loop, each adapter instance from the array is given a reference to the corresponding data element. Result: This approach allows accessing the data via the index of the adapter array, and then through the property name, which simulates the behavior of an indexed property: MyAdapterArray[Index].MyProperty Thus, the validation and data access logic is written only once inside the adapter block and is then reused multiple times by creating instances of it in an array. This completely solves the problem of code duplication while providing a clean, scalable, and object-oriented architecture compatible with standard CODESYS features. Question closed.

Hi all, for a deeper understanding of the Codesys RTE - I created a simple application with 3 IEC tasks (Ta,Tb,Tc) each with different priorities, and different cycle times. The application runs on Windows 10 in the Soft PLC CODESYS Control Win V3. If my understanding is correct, the RTE i.e. the Process CodesysControlService should spawn 3 threads (Th_a,Th_b,Th_c) which are executed with the defined cycle times, the priority of the threads should reflect the priority of the task set in the Codesys IDE. Does somebody have an idea, how I could identify the respective threads in Windows? Kind regards Andrej

Hello, basically the i950 drive support CiA402 Basic and CiA402 Advanced modes. I attached pictures of both mode supported functions. It also support CSP, VL, CSV and CST modes. It seems the homing mode is in CiA402 Advanced mode but how can you not have the homing mode in both modes? It is a vital part of any servo system. If I use the SoftMotion standard demo mode, I can move the servo absolute and relative but cannot home it. But in SoftMotion Light mode, I cannot execute any motion function. With that I could make an array of varying size, but would still have to define the array type in the function's declaration VAR_IN_OUT stArray: array [*..*] of <pre-defined data type> END_VAR I wanted a function that could take an array of any type (e.g., a structured VAR) as an input. That way I could call it in multiple POUs to handle different arrays structures.

Hello everyone, I created a visualization with a lot of REAL, with one or two digits after the decimal point. This causes me problems in terms of rounding and memory... is it possible to display an integer with a comma, like with PROFACE or SIEMENS? It's just an "abuse" of display, the comma is just on the visualization. This limits the memory (16 versus 64 bytes) and rounding is easier to manage... See print screen on proface software THANKS

you need at them moment a download once (for the configuration files generated including addresses) then stop the plc - exchange the persistence file ( without the config file) This will be improved to 3.5.18.6 and 3.5.20.0. (possible then to generate offline bootproject including full persistenmanager files) - this is if you have not 100% the same bootapplication on the devices. In case you copy the whole Application (PLCLogic) directory it should work out of the box - but only with 100% same bootprojects as mentioned above. By the CODESYS Automation Server would help solve this too.

Compared to the Codesys 3.5 SP19 Patch 1 version, the context menu on a Trace object no longer works. So I can no longer run the Downloader Trace command. Hello, I'm trying to access the group IDs of the connected user. "CurrentUserGroupId" var shows only the first group ID that the user is assigned, I need the other group IDs that the user is in. I have found a work around. I have written a python scripts that runs on user login (entry in .bashrc) which overwrites the webvisu.htm and webvisu.cfg.json file with the configuration for the B&R T30 panel (resolution and disable scaling). First I tried to add this setting to the the CODESYSControl.cfg, but that does not work following the big CODESYS Control V3 Manual. Pretty sure I know the answer, but thought I would ask just in case. Is there a way to set variables declared in a POU to private so that they can not be accessed from other POUs. I tried using the library pragma, but that just stops the variables being displayed in the selection tree. My compiler version is 2.3.9.62 if that's relevant, and I'm using an ABB AC500 V2 PLC. This is normal and correct since in CoDeSys static addressing of variables uses the IEC method. A LONG tag has the size of 8 bytes, so %ML0 coincides with %MB0 ... %MB7; %ML1000 with %MB8000 ... %MB8007. (Similar reason for word and other formats). Also the reason the compiler won't let you map the structure to a %MW depends on the fact that the individual base elements are manipulated to 64 bits regardless of the smaller size. That said, it makes me strange that you cannot write a parser without making use of static memory allocation.

Hello, if you enter %t as a "Text" on a rectangle and do not link a variable in "Text variable", it automatically displays the system time. My question is, where do if find a variable, that contains exactly this time? I tried numerous variants using GetLocalDateTime or GetSysTime but I always have to manage timezones myself (which I do not want to do). I only want a variable with the date an time from my windows system, where the visualization is running. Where can I find this variable?

Hello everyone Since I have installed Codesys 3.5.20sp2 I cannot get the profinet features working again. Now I get RPC Blocked during device scan (see attached file) and when online I get RPC-call error (see attached file). I run Codesys on the last version of Windows 11, Profinet ports have been added to Firewall rules, and even with disabled Firewall I get same result I really never seen that before Same result using another PC I already spent 2 days to find the issu without any success, I would appreciate some help, thank you! It looks like it works with 4.13.0.0 indeed. However when installing the runtime, it's not possible to select the multicore option (see attachment). But once the 4.13.0.0 runtime is installed, the logs seems to indicate that the runtime is running in multicore mode. Looking at "htop" output, it seems like it actually is running on multiple CPU. This is very misleading, is it normal or is this a bug ? Thank you for your answer @eschwellinger, BR

Ah - forgot another question as it may be related to the PLL problem: I am executing a 4ms cycle. I do not call (from what I know) the Ethercat_MAster periodically in my program. The bus cycle task is set to the Ethercat task. I would assume that the master should send 250 frames per second. Yet, the status of the master says it transmits 500 frames per second which would indicate that the master is called twice. Any ideas there?

What do you mean by continuous movement? You want to continuously follow a dynamic target position? SMC_ControlAxisByPos, which is typically used with CNC Interpolators, could work for that. Instead of feeding the target position in from the Interpolator, feed in the target position from your server instead. The only weird situation i remeber with particular or complete frozen target visu was after the rtc clock was fallen or set back to the past. It looked like after running a while the alarm history database crashed during writing entries at a date lot of years in the past. After setting the rtc clock to actual date/time and deleting the alarm db every thing worked fine. I don't know, if this is/was a problem of our PLC hardware/firmware? Maybe check date/time at your system?
