I am also having this issue. It was working fine for the first 2ish months and is now throwing this error. I can just try and go online again a second time and it works. I'm wondering if there is an environmental variable or something that isn't set that is causing it to use an empty path as a temp directory. The empty path will be the location the app is running from which is that path C:\Program Files\CODESYS 3.5.19.50\CODESYS\Common. The permissions don't allow a normal user to write to that directory which causes the error. It also only seems to happen when there are changes or the build has been cleaned.

I also thought that if I had logic writing a value to this variable, then it would override the force anyway, since I thought that the force request was only applied at the beginning and end of the PLC scan. But this doesn't seem to be the case, the force persists throughout the logic regardless of what I write to the variable with logic

If yes, how? I defined a TEST integer variable with 300 value. I tried to add this variable to the width record (.TEST or only TEST), but if I saved, the value jumps back to 0. I have noticed that a rm file1.txt command on a shell has an impact on the cycle time for a TASK writing to file2.txt. Seen in the Monitor fane of the Task configuration Furthermore if a TASK makes a system call like rm, its cycle time increases of course but it seems to have an invisible impact on other TASKs too. I have a TASK for handling communication over the CANbus (SPI) where it stops sending "Heartbeats" for many seconds when another TASK does a system rm. Why is that not seen on the Monitor fane? Is even codesyscontrol paused when system calls are made? The CPU load is about 30-40%

Monitor what your current cycle time is (in the Task Configuration when you are online). If this is sometimes close to 200ms, then change your code (e.g. limit the loops, or prevent copying a lot of data between objects). Or just set the Watchdog time (or sensitivity) higher if you don't care that it sometimes takes longer than 200ms. If you want to find out which objects in your application consume the most time, then buy a PDE (Professional Developer Edition) license. With this you get a license for the Profiler. This can help you a lot to find the root cause, because it will create a nice overview of all objects, their calls and the time (percentage) it takes to execute it.

OK, that makes sense. Because the FB is provided a specific interval period, it would change the target position accordingly based on the time it "thought" elapsed. If it has the wrong interval provided, it updates the target positions every cycle incorrectly so the axes will end up moving faster or slower. Thanks!

Could this be turned into a library? I'd love for a way to have the main program call a function block method using the program's I2C_master device. I assume I should be passing the master as a variable for the function block, but I don't see how that could be achieved

Hi, I tried some different libraries (CmpApp etc.) to find some global variables that I could read out as a variable in the codesys environment. Do any one of you know which libraries are best suited for this, and how I can read it out? My goal is to send messages, warnings etc. to the system that communicates to the PLC. Currently if something goes wrong I need to see the logfiles, or go online with the controller. I think I could save a lot of time if I could read the errors from our user interface that is connected to the PLC by TCP/IP.

But for individual configurating of passwort policies I create a visu-dialog to set policies and there for an option to set auto-logout-time. But till now, I haven't found a solution. Hi everyone, is there a way to programmatically clear the cache of the Data Source Manager in CODESYS so that variable values are re-synchronized from the OPC UA server (Symbol Configuration with OPCUA features)? Alternatively, is it possible to trigger a manual synchronization of data source variables from within the application code at runtime? Here’s the situation: A variable is first written by the OPC UA client to the server in one state of a state machine and changes to another state – so the initial communication works. Later, the server changes the variable value, but the client does not receive or reflect the updated value, unless the variable is actively written again. I’m looking for a way to force the client (data source manager) to re-read or refresh the variable state from the server, possibly by clearing the internal cache or triggering a sync. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It seems like a bug in FBD. Work-around: If you click on the small line between the box and the output variable and delete this, the variable is removed. When you then assign a variable again (Ctrl-A), then you will see that the line will be a bit longer. If you then select the previous variable, you will see that it works.

Solved it! The simple answer was to declare a variable as POINTER TO STRING and assign the GetMessage result to that variable. Then, the ^ operator can be used to extract the message as string.
