Hello I'm trying to use DirOpen to access a directory where then I can read/list the files inside. But I can't list any files because DirOpen.xError is always true. In eError the message is this: " ERROR_UNKNOWN Local library error ID (0: no error; 5101: time out)**** " I have in the file explorer the path 'C:\CodesysTest\Aluminium' and to make sure I also created in the plc a folder to 'prj/Recipes/Aluminium'. I tried using the different paths, but in both it happens the same thing.Inside the folder Aluminium there is two csv files, that I want to list. I added in the library manager CAA Files and CAA Types. I am using the example of https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/CAA%20File/Current/Examples.html#directory but not matter what I do, I can't get the list the names of the files. What am I missing?

Such bash script detect the presence of new .deb files and install them on system. My automation solution don't allow to be maintained by dedicated personal, thus even the CODESYS runtime SW must be installed using an "automatic" procedure instead of using the CODESYS tool. remark I've been using the following procedure since the runtime v4.5 without any issue. Before installing the new runtime packages, I need to copy the file CODESYSControl_User.cfg (here attached) because of new section which is necessary to add in order to allow some folders to be written by CODESYS runtime v4.9 Up to now, this has been unnecessary, this is the main difference between my previos bash file and the new one. remark If I skip this action, everythings goes fine, but my CODESYS application can't work as it needs to access some folders on controller's file system. Step 1: Create or edit the systemd override configuration: sudo systemctl edit codesyscontrol In the editor that opens, insert: [Service] User=root Save and exit: Press Ctrl+O to save Press Ctrl+X to exit Step 2: Reload systemd and reboot To apply the override: sudo systemctl daemon-reexec sudo systemctl daemon-reload sudo reboot Step 3: Confirm CODESYS is running as root After reboot, open the terminal and run: ps aux | grep codesyscontrol You should see something like: root 1234 ... /opt/codesys/bin/codesyscontrol.bin ... Hello everyone, I'm hoping for some assistance with a license activation issue: a software crash has left my license in a strange state. Here is the sequence of events: I purchased a new license for the Raspberry PI from the official CODESYS web store. I opened the CODESYS and started the online activation process using the ticket number I received. During the activation, the CODESYS software threw an exception and crashed. I was not able to see if the activation completed. After restarting CODESYS, I attempted to run the activation process again with the same ticket number. The License Manager now gives me an error stating that the ticket has already been activated/used. I am now stuck because my installation is not licensed, but the activation server believes my ticket has been consumed. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a way to have the ticket status reset?

Hi all, i am encounter a mystery problem with a build with rexroth drives at my work. At my company we are make a machine with two Rexroth Indradrives . The two drives are goes by ethercat protocol . To be more specific i am going from my plc to the Beckoff El1100 coupler and after to the first drive and from the first drive to the second. The second drive works with no problem but the first(motor) sometimes without any pattern start to make a mysterious noise like stop and suddenly goes on again. If i couldn't hear the noise from the motor i couldn't Imagine that this happen. After a lot of research i see that sometime i have some strange zeros from the drive to the plc? Really i am in a deadlock and I don't know how to continue. From the other side the values on the other drive(second)are stable . Hello there, I am new here and in programming. I need help with the basics. I am trying to do what I mentioned in the title. I have an analog input. So I have a real or integer data type value. I want to delay it. TON and TOF only work with bool. I think there is a function block that has two inputs, 1 for real or int and 1 for bool. And if bool is true, it will give the output as real or int. I don't know but I need something like this. Actually, it is not exactly like that. In other words, it will not show the real value at the input at the output after a certain period of time. I want it to show the real value from 2 seconds ago continuously. The purpose of doing this is to compare the real value I received with the value from 2 seconds ago and find out whether it went up or down. I am using only FBD. Please help me with this. Hello everyone, I am testing the ModbusFB library tcp server and so far I am able to create holding registers successfully, however, I am trying to identify after each write which registers got updated (i.e. function code, write value). I can even see the var udiNumWriteRequests, which increases with every write. I noticed that there is logging with the LogStatusInfo method. After I call it I am able to read in the console stuff that I want. Nevertheless, this is only available at the logs and is not easy to decode because it consists on several messages, I would like to know if there is a way for me to retrieve this information from the function itself with pointers or if there is any way to copy the logs messages (assuming that I can filter them with the LoggingOptions to only show what I need) inside the runtime code and not in the console. Thanks for this - I have now been looking in to just having an extra (non-RTE) runtime on the same machine, as you suggest. I will probably proceed this way. Even though it still seems very odd to me, that variable exchange to a different runtime is easier than between applications on the same controller. There will be some fun with the licensing, it seems. Does anyone know if it is possible to specify which license container/specific license the runtime is going to use at runtime. Let's say I have two available licenses with different resources available, for example one license allows multicore and multiple EtherCAT channels, but not many visu tags (for the RTE). Another with less resources but a lot of visu tags (for the Visu controller). Let's say the program in one of the controllers could be fully licensed by either of the two available licenses, but picks the 'largest' first. A bit later, the larger application starts, but is left with the smaller license.. How can I make sure that the 2 runtimes select the right license at startup?

This explanation aligns with the issues we’re experiencing with our machines. The scenario I described is happening with one of them (let’s call it Machine A). This machine is identical to another one (Machine B), except for some custom code that facilitates communication with an external Beckhoff PLC for MES integration in the production line. Machine B has been powered on and off daily for at least three months and has never had this problem. Given that, I highly doubt the MES custom code is the cause of the code corruption. This being said, your explanation does seem plausible. However, if faulty EtherCAT cables were the issue, why wouldn't the error occur during normal operation? Why would bad cables only cause problems during a hard shutdown? One last question: When you encountered this behavior, did you see a similar error in your logs? i.e, an "AccessViolation" exception in the EtherCAT Task?

Ok, so i made some tests in the meantime and i have some conclusions. It apears that the enable bit is activated only when a motion function is executed. I implemented a very simple program with MC_Power and MC_Jog. If i enable everything on MC_Power, the enable GPIO pin stays off. However, as soon as the MC_Jog function is used the enable GPIO pin turns ON and remains ON. In version 0.0.0.4 this is not happening. The GPIO enable pin turns on or off when the MC_Power is enabled or disabled. From this behaviour i understand that in version 0.0.0.6 the GPIO enable bit is activated together with pulse and dir pins when motion starts. When motion stops, enable bit remains with the last state (on in this case) and you cannot turn it off for example. For me this bit is useful because i can turn on and off the stepper drive with MC_Power function. Now i can turn it on, but never off.

Error counter = 0. (To have all counters works fine I had to change Modbus TCP Client's parameter OptimizationON to FALSE). LOGO231 works fine: values in mapped I/O conform expectation WS242 without Modbus Server, COM port and with defined channels (for only 1 slave-id possible) works fine. PLC Settings: Update I/O while in stop: I see xBusy changing from FALSE to TRUE and vice versa. Always update variables: Enabled 1

Hi, I am looking for exactly the same thing. I would think that using a layer 2/3 managed switch should work but I am not convinced. I would like to test it in order to see if it would be possible to run many Codesys Docker instances on a server and run only 1 ethernet cable from the server to a managed switch closer to the machines beeing controlled instead of having to run multiple long ethernet cables. I was going to buy a managed switch in order to test it but I want to first make sure it is possible and I want to figure out exactly what kind of switch I would need. Is this even possible? I think this is a feature that would be very useful paired with "Codesys Virtual Control SL". Thank you

If i loose the network and the opcua data source suddenly looses connection with the server, i get an exception and my application stops working. I am using the latest version of the communication add v4.5.2.0 Is this a known issue? This makes the datasource unusable because it is inevitable that we will loose connectivity at some point, and the datasource crashing everything due to that seems to be a deal breaker. I can provide more details is someone from codesys is reading this. You can recreate is by just shutting off the Opc server after the codesys data source is connected and reading data from it. The codesys app does not crash everytime and sometimes it is able to reconnect without crashing, so you may have to try this a few times to see the exception. Best regards

I have a WAGO PLC, to which I am establishing a connection. Here I use the autodiscover to register the connected modules. Now, I have tested the in-/outputs of the different modules, to verify they are consistent with how they are physically connected to the PLC in regards to how CODESYS has numbered them. Will CODESYS always number the modules closest to the PLC itself lowest, and the one furthest away, the highest? I am rather new to the program, so I both hope my question makes sense, as well as not being completely obvious. Thanks!

Basically, when user just create a new CODESYS library, and then just add Text List, save build with no errors and then try to save as compiled library, the following error would be generated: "The library documentation export error" and nothing more, just like shown in the attachment. Hello everyone, I am currently working on reading data from energy analyzers using Modbus TCP and RTU (RS-485). In my previous software, I used the following method to add slave devices (i have attached the image) and configure registers: Add the Modbus slave device. Configure the communication parameters (baud rate, parity, etc.). Define the registers and their addresses for data retrieval. Now, I am trying to achieve the same in CODESYS 3.5, but I am not sure how to configure the Modbus master, add slave devices, and set up the registers properly. If anyone has experience with Modbus TCP/RTU setup in CODESYS 3.5, I would really appreciate your guidance! A step-by-step explanation or any references/tutorials would be extremely helpful.

Hello all, I have developed a custom I/O driver in CODESYS that communicates via a Unix Domain Socket. In my DeviceDescription.xml, I have set up the following: <scan supported="true"> <scanfbinstance fbname="IOScanDevice"> The goal is to allow the user to scan for connected I/O modules from the CODESYS GUI ("Scan for Devices") and automatically populate the device tree with detected submodules.</scanfbinstance></scan> The function block IOScanDevice is implemented in the driver library and added to the main device's FB instances. However, when I initiate the scan from the GUI, nothing appears to happen the function is not executed. Is there an example project or driver (open source or from CODESYS Forge) that demonstrates a working custom scan implementation?

Some developers export ST code manually and edit it in VSCode, then copy it back. However, a more practical approach might be using automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to extract and inject code into the CODESYS project. You could also check if CODESYS Automation Server or CODESYS API allows better ST access for external tools. https://www.codesys.com/the-system/releases-updates-lifecycle/release-plan-roadmap.html Network drive issues are particularly painful. As a mitigation, you could try using local project storage with periodic cloud sync instead of directly saving to a network drive. Using Rsync or Syncthing for automatic but safe synchronization might reduce risks of file corruption.

Hello there, I have my ethernet/ip adapter (from Texas Instrument) running on Texas Instrument Board and I have configured the scanner on codesys. I have mapped the I/Os and I can see (on wireshark) the frames coming from adapter but I don't see my input variables in scanner get updated, they just stay at 0. I wanted to see the real data that has been sent from adapter to scanner on codesys. I am not sure if the problem is in I/O mapping or there is a step/s that I have missed. I have attached the screenshot of my project for your ref. Thank you, Sumit
