Post by william on Unit testing support / libraries for EcoStruxure Machine Expert (CODESYS) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, We are investigating available libraries and frameworks for automated PLC unit testing in Schneider EcoStruxure Machine Expert. Specifically, we are looking for: Assertion libraries or test frameworks compatible with Machine Expert CODESYS‑based solutions that are not TwinCAT‑specific Any official or community‑recommended approach for unit testing FB/FC logic offline We have found several open‑source examples, but many appear to be TwinCAT‑dependent and therefore not compatible. Are there any known libraries, best practices, or recommended approaches for implementing unit tests in Machine Expert? Thanks in advance.

Post by alexgooi on No Bootproject possible CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Dear Forum, When using a online-change I often get the following message: No Bootproject possible in this state: application out of memory. Perform full download first. I'm using Codesys virtual control for linux SL running on a docker server with plenty of memory available, therefore I’m not expecting a hardware limitation. Is there a setting available to for example reserve more memory, so the controller is not that quick out of memory? thank you in advance. Alex

Post by darwin03 on Mismatch between coordinate monitor and actual motion using SMC_GroupJog2, MC_MoveLinearAbsolute (6DOF) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi Guys!!! I am experiencing an issue when trying to move 6DOF using SMC_GroupJog2 and MC_MoveLinearAbsolute, but I don't understand why, when I jog only X or Y, the coordinate I monitor just changes the X or Y value. It's true, but in reality, Joint6 is still running like the video. Am I wrong somewhere? Many thanks for considering my request.! Post by gseidel on Problem with keeping up the distance between two axes CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi alex-n, are there any errors before the crash happens: MC_Phasing.Error, MC_Phasing.CommandAborted, what does the PLC log show before the crash? Does one of the drives show an error? You can achieve the same effect as MC_Phasing by using MC_GearIn and MC_MoveSuperImposed. But probably there is some problem in your application independent of MC_Phasing that can lead to the crash. Best regards, Georg

Post by eschwellinger on cannot connect ot linux runtime: device does not answer the scanrequest CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
for me looks like you do not use latest CODESYS IDE version, there is a known bug if you use a newer runtime your are forced to use a more complex password as user for the login. The old IDE version does not show this problem on login. so either update CODESYS or use a pw which meet the complexity requirements.

Post by adamrobotic on llcallback() iec exception caught cmpid=0x00000002, eventid=0x00010008 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi All, Recently I have been experiencing a issue in CodeSys SP16 Patch 3, with a exception which comes up after I have made several online changes. callcallback() iec exception caught cmpid=0x00000002, eventid=0x00010008, after I experience this fault then I receive a error message for any subsequent online change "online change failed, no task gap within 10000ms". To recover either the controller needs a orgin reset, which will allow online edits thereafter until falling back into the loop. I am using a TURCK TX707 product which is controlling robot trajectory, We have hard coded the coordinate data rather than using persistence variables so hence the need to do online changes consistently. I have read on the forum other people have experienced similar issue with the online task gap, but I have no task which have same priority and also monitored the CPU usage and have not seen it go above 13%. Anyones help would be much appreciated, thankyou.

Maybe there is a better way, but a long time ago I created a test application that worked like this: With a button I opened the dialog and I added a "Input configuration - OnDialogClosed" "Execute ST-Code" action to this same button which called the following Function when the dialog was closed: F_OnFileDialogClosed(pClientData); Below this Function which handled the result: // This function is called from the visualization when the dialog is closed. FUNCTION F_OnFileDialogClosed : BOOL VAR_INPUT pClientData : POINTER TO VisuElems.VisuStructClientData; END_VAR VAR dialogMan : VisuElems.IDialogManager; FileOpenCloseDialog : VisuElems.IVisualisationDialog; result : VisuElems.Visu_DialogResult; _sFileName : STRING(255); END_VAR // the DialogManager is provided via the implicitly available VisuManager dialogMan := VisuElems.g_VisuManager.GetDialogManager(); IF dialogMan <> 0 AND pClientData <> 0 THEN FileOpenCloseDialog := dialogMan.GetDialog('VisuDialogs.FileOpenSave'); // gets the FileOpenSave dialog IF FileOpenCloseDialog <> 0 THEN result := FileOpenCloseDialog.GetResult(); // gets the result (OK, Cancel) of the dialog IF result = VisuElems.Visu_DialogResult.OK THEN // Original code gvlFile.FileListProvider(); _sFileName := CONCAT(gvlFile.FileListProvider._stDirectory, gvlFile.FileListProvider.stFile); // do something with this file name... Post by ewi04 on Git with visu CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I have several problems with the git extension. Situation: I am working with Codesys v3.5 SP19 Patch 1 and Git V1.2.1.0. The remote repository is GitLab Community Edition v16.1.2. I am working on a project with one other person. Problems: 1: After each start of Codesys all of the visu pages are marked as modified. So we have to discard all changes first. Otherwise the history is not clean and the merge request becomes more complex. I tested it with a new project and only local. I made the observation, that a page is not marked as modified when it is committed a second time (after a restart of codesys). But this is necessary after every change of a page. However, since we are working in a team, it seems we are playing ping-pong and so all pages are marked as modified on each startup. 2: Each image pool causes a parent child conflict. Also in my local project. The only solution that I have found, is to ignore the issue. Does anyone have the same problems? I think it looks more like bugs. Thanks ewi04

Post by psychoengineer on Cannot Save CSV File on Windows Computer Using CODESYS and Control Win CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I am currently working on a project using CODESYS and Control Win on a Windows computer. I've encountered an issue where I am unable to save a CSV file. I have followed the standard procedures and used the appropriate file handling functions, but the file is not being created or saved as expected. IF xStartTest THEN sFileName := '\logs.txt'; sFileName := CONCAT(gvl.g_sMainDirectory, sFileName); sFileNameCopy := '\CAAFileCopy.txt'; sFileNameCopy := CONCAT(gvl.g_sMainDirectory, sFileNameCopy); //eWriteState := FILE_OPEN_TRIGGER; xTestDone := FALSE; xError := FALSE; xStartTest := FALSE; END_IF VAR_GLOBAL g_sMainDirectory : STRING := 'C:\LogFiles'; // file path for CSV file END_VAR Despite this, the file does not appear in the specified directory, and no error messages are being generated. I've checked the directory permissions and ensured that the path is correct. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue or have any suggestions on how to resolve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Post by to-ke on Errors with VisuUserManagement library CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have the same error. On a Raspberry Pi the error goes away if I clean everything and then compile completely. When the project is reloaded in the Codesys Development System, the error returns. With a Win V3 x64 PLC I can only prevent the error if I integrate the VUM_Login on the HMI. But I don't need this because I designed the HMI for user management myself. That works too. Anyone have an idea to fix this problem. Many thanks

Post by trusty-squire on Confused by dwIpoTime input for SMC_Interpolator CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Learning Codesys CNC, and I am confused by the dwIpoTime parameter. I have a basic demo application, using SMC_Interpolator feeding into SMC_TRAFO_Gantry2Tool2, which then sets the position of the x/y SM_Drive_Virtual axis. I also have a C axis which revolves the tool, which is controlled using a simple tangential angle calculation SMC_CalcDirectionFromVector. The GCode I'm using has feed/accel set at 500. The axis configuration limits are well above that (2000). What's strange is that, when I run the simulation, the feed speed changes drastically when I update the variable dwIpoTime. The larger the number, the faster it moves. What's going on here? The documentation only says "This variable has to be set for each call. It represents the cycle time in μsec." Why does it change the feed speed I'm seeing the in simulation? What is a good number to use? The example I was looking at set it at 5000. Screenshot attached.

Good morning; I'm facing an issue that seems being caused by the library itself. I'm trying to create the list of all the files that are stored inside a psecific directory. Unluckily the first file is allways hidden. VAR CONSTANT arysEmptyArray:ARRAY[iArrayMinDimension..iArrayMAXDimension] OF STRING := [(iArrayMAXDimension - iArrayMinDimension)('')]; iArrayMinDimension:INT := 1; iArrayMAXDimension:INT := 99; END_VAR VAR_INPUT sDirectoryToInspect:STRING; sSearchFilter:STRING; END_VAR VAR_IN_OUT xCheckFileInsideDirectory:BOOL; END_VAR VAR arysListOfFoundFiles:ARRAY[iArrayMinDimension..iArrayMAXDimension] OF STRING; sNullString:STRING; iNullIndex:INT := 0; libInfoAboutThePath:DirInfo; libResultOfThePathMonitoring:CmpErrors.RTS_IEC_RESULT; libInstanceToMonitorThePath:CmpErrors.RTS_IEC_HANDLE; sEntityToSearch:STRING; dMaxEntityDimension:DINT := SIZEOF(sEntityToSearch); libFileInfo:DirInfo; sFilteredFileName:STRING; iIndexToScrollArrays:INT; END_VAR IF xCheckFileInsideDirectory THEN arysListOfFoundFiles:=arysEmptyArray; iIndexToScrollArrays:=iArrayMinDimension; libInstanceToMonitorThePath:= SysDirOpen(szDir:= sDirectoryToInspect,szDirEntry:=sNullString,diMaxDirEntry:= iNullIndex,pDirInfo:= ADR(libInfoAboutThePath),pResult:= ADR(libResultOfThePathMonitoring)); WHILE libResultOfThePathMonitoring = Errors.ERR_OK AND iIndexToScrollArrays <= iArrayMAXDimension DO sEntityToSearch:= ''; libResultOfThePathMonitoring:=SysDirRead(hDir:=libInstanceToMonitorThePath,szDirEntry:=sEntityToSearch,diMaxDirEntry:=dMaxEntityDimension,pDirInfo:=ADR(libFileInfo)); sFilteredFileName:= FUN_06_00_FindItemInString_0(sFilter:=sSearchFilter,sSource:=sEntityToSearch); IF sFilteredFileName <> '' THEN arysListOfFoundFiles[iIndexToScrollArrays]:=sFilteredFileName; iIndexToScrollArrays:=iIndexToScrollArrays + 1; END_IF IF libResultOfThePathMonitoring <> Errors.ERR_OK THEN libResultOfThePathMonitoring:= Errors.ERR_OK; END_IF END_WHILE libResultOfThePathMonitoring:=SysDirClose(hDir:= libInstanceToMonitorThePath); xCheckFileInsideDirectory:=FALSE; END_IF How is possible to solve this issue? Any known work around?

Post by andrax on CodeSys Raspberry pi I2C driver not found CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Communication with the ADS1115 is actually simple. 1. write config 2. write address pointer 3. read conversation register The ADS1115 works like a multiplexer. This means that you do this individually for each channel that you want to read. e.g: Channel 1: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 2: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 3: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 4: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register then you start again from the beginning You can also omit individual channels or read only one. It doesn't matter. I have written the driver so that I can also use it on the TCA9548. The driver is from Stefan Dreyer. In your case, the driver works and communication with the ADS1115 is running. As you can see, the cfgWrong:=FALSE If you could not write or read data, cfgWrong:=TRUE; This means that either something is wrong with your ADS1115 or you have connected something incorrectly. Question: what voltage do you want to measure?

See https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Engineering/thread/280fdf4806/#9fe5 And https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/alarm-manager/home/Home/ The application should contain: - an FB which implements AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria (see example - FB_AlarmFilterCriteria) - an FB which implements AlarmManager.IAlarmManagerClient (see example - FB_AlarmManagerClient) Then register the client and get the information through this client. VAR xInit : BOOL := TRUE; udiResult : UDINT; fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll : FB_AlarmFilterCriteria; fbAlarmManagerClientAll : FB_AlarmManagerClient; itfAlarmManagerClientAll : IAlarmManagerClient := fbAlarmManagerClientAll; xAlarm1 : BOOL; xAlarm2 : BOOL; xWarning : BOOL; iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; paitfAlarm: POINTER TO ARRAY [0..0] OF AlarmManager.IAlarm; iAlarmIndex : INT; eAlarmState: AlarmManager.AlarmState; END_VAR IF xInit THEN xInit := FALSE; fbAlarmManagerClientAll.m_itfAlarmFilterCriteria := fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll; // register alarm client to get updated about alarm status / changes udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.RegisterClient(itfAlarmManagerClientAll, 0, 0); END_IF // Polling the number of alarms udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.GetActiveAlarms(itfAlarmManagerClientAll, parritfActiveAlarms => paitfAlarm, iCountActiveAlarms => iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList); iAlarmIndex := 0; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := 0; WHILE iAlarmIndex < iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList DO eAlarmState := paitfAlarm^[iAlarmIndex].GetState(); IF eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.Active OR eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.ActiveAcknowledged THEN iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList + 1; END_IF iAlarmIndex := iAlarmIndex + 1; END_WHILE

Post by pouyavakili on Execute Codesys Tests with python CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
❓ Issue: TestManager Not Available in Python Script (AttributeError) 🙏 Question: Why does project.get_testmanager() not work in scripting, even though Test Manager is installed and licensed, and the script runs in GUI mode? Is there a way to ensure the Test Manager interface is loaded or accessible from the scripting environment? 🧠 Summary: I'm trying to automate test execution using the CODESYS scripting engine (Python) via a script that opens a project, builds the application, and runs tests from a TestRepository.xml. Although the Test Manager works manually in the IDE, it fails when accessed via script with the following error: AttributeError: 'ScriptObject' object has no attribute 'testmanager' 🧪 Test Setup: CODESYS version: 3.5.21.10 Test Manager: Installed and licensed (works in the IDE manually) Project: Contains a test repository, which can be executed via the GUI Script execution method: powershell Start-Process -FilePath "C:\Program Files\CODESYS 3.5.21.10\CODESYS\Common\CODESYS.exe" ` -ArgumentList @( '--profile="CODESYS V3.5 SP21 Patch 1"', '--runscript="C:\Scripts\run_tests.py"' ) -Wait 📜 Script Summary: python project = projects.open(project_path) application = project.active_application application.build() This fails: testmanager = project.get_testmanager() ❗ Problem: Calling project.get_testmanager() or application.testmanager throws an AttributeError, even though the same project and test repository work in the GUI.

Post by ph0010421 on How to create a stopwatch? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Do you need an 'hours-run' counter? And 1 second resolution is ok? I think you're over-thinking it. (The task time needs to be < 1second) Have a look at the LAD... Then, the time in seconds can be made into hh:mm:ss with this FUNction Declarations: FUNCTION funSecondsToStringTime: string VAR_INPUT InSeconds: UDINT; END_VAR VAR AsString: STRING; Minutes: UDINT; Hours: UDINT; Seconds: UDINT; MinutesAsString: STRING(2); HoursAsString: STRING(2); SecondsAsString: STRING(2); END_VAR and the code: Hours := InSeconds / 60 / 60; //Derive hours Minutes := (InSeconds - (Hours * 60 * 60)) / 60; //Derive minutes Seconds := InSeconds - ((Hours * 60 * 60) + (Minutes * 60));//Derive seconds HoursAsString := UDINT_TO_STRING(Hours); MinutesAsString := UDINT_TO_STRING(Minutes); SecondsAsString := UDINT_TO_STRING(Seconds); IF LEN(HoursAsString) = 1 THEN HoursAsString := CONCAT('0',HoursAsString); END_IF; IF LEN(MinutesAsString) = 1 THEN MinutesAsString := CONCAT('0',MinutesAsString); END_IF; IF LEN(SecondsAsString) = 1 THEN SecondsAsString := CONCAT('0',SecondsAsString); END_IF; AsString := CONCAT(HoursAsString, ':'); //assemble string AsString := CONCAT(AsString,MinutesAsString); AsString := CONCAT(AsString,':'); AsString := CONCAT(AsString, SecondsAsString); funSecondsToStringTime := AsString;

Post by aseitzinger on CODESYS Control for Linux SL on virtual machine? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, there in different information available regarding the possibility to run CODESYS Control for Linux SL on a virtual machine. https://forge.codesys.com/trg/linux-sl/home/Home/ says CODESYS Control for Linux SL is a runtime system, which can run on any Debian based X86 PC, VM or Cloud container... https://store.codesys.com/media/n98_media_assets/files/2302000005/3/CODESYS%20Control%20for%20Linux%20SL_de.pdf says CODESYS Control for Linux SL can not be used on virtual hardware Currently I run the package mentioned on a virtualized debian machine running in PROXMOX Virtual Environment 7.4-17 and apart from huge jitter it runs without problems. The CODESYS key is passed as a USB defice to the VM. I wonder why there are different statements regarding the suitability in virtual machines and if the jitter would be reduced by installing CODESYS runtime on the host installing CDS runtime on the host and using a preemptive kernel (if available for the PROXMOX installation leaving CDS runtime where it is (on the virtualized debian machine) and install a preemptive kernel on the host and on the guest... Any advice is appreciated. Greets Arno
