Hi @ph0010421, I tried the program the TimeTaken is calculated when stop is triggered. I want the TimeTaken to be continuously calculated and counting when a BOOL variable is true. Im struggling with the AC Persistence. AC persistence seems to work for any variable that is changed online and values are kept during reboot. However, if I try to edit the persistence files offline or replace the persistence files with a previously downloaded older persistence file (with modified values), the online value will not follow, as if the system did not at all read the file at boot? My testing sequence. - Edit a the value of a persistenced variable (with xSaveOnChange = True) - Save/download the associated persistence file, (and confirm the value has changed). - Edit the value online for a second time . - Stop runtime - Replace (upload) the persistence file with my previously downloaded file . - Coldstart/Warmstart/Start runtime - Whatever Im trying the value of my persistence variable will always be equal to that of my second edit as if the file is not read/considered during boot. What am I doing wrong?

Hi there. I have an issue to read and set time for the controller. In the issue many registers described as writable by 6/16 functions, and, in this time, also(!) readable! For example: I have time registers: min, hour, day, mon, year. By specifications it is possible check time (so I need always update these varibles in loop) and set time by writing these same registers, BUT how to set, if they will immediatle updated by current time after writing? So, I need to separate one address at two variables. I have seen option mark: Overlay of the process image by the holding and input register. I understand this so: When I READ by function 3, I will get variable that connected with the same INPUT address and when I WRITE by 6/16 this will change second variable that connected with HOLDING address. BUT, this mark doesnt work, when I write 6/16 and try to get by function 3, I will get written value instead INPUT variable. So, what to do?

With the example I have now managed to control the trace recording via the CmpTraceMgr library. But how do I get this trace recording into a visual element? Hello, what you are seeing is not strange behavior. The problem is that everyting is happening in the same program cycle. After the variable Stepnumber is changed from 10 to 20 for example then you want the program to wait with the next EQ until the next program cycle. Else every EQ will be be true because in every line the variable Stepnumber is increased. When the program arrives (still in the same cycle) at the line with the timer, the Stepnumber has been increased to 30 in the meantime and the timer will allway be ON because even though the variable is written to 10 in this line in the next cycle it starts with 10 and will be 30 again before reaching the timer in line 8. Not very good at explaining stuff but i hope you get the problem. See screenshot below for an example of one way you could solve this...

Subject: Solution: CODESYS Freezes Linked to Large Symbol Configuration (OPC UA) Hello everyone, I was experiencing the same problem as many here: CODESYS (v3.5 SP20+) freezing during compilation and download, especially on projects that use OPC UA for SCADA. The only workaround was to run Build > Clean all before every download. I believe I have found the root cause and a permanent solution. The Problem: The issue is directly related to a large Symbol Configuration. In my project, I only need about 700 tags for OPC UA, but the Symbol Configuration list was showing over 250,000 tags. This is because it automatically includes all variables from Global Variable Lists (GVLs) and other memory areas. When any static variable is changed, the IDE tries to rebuild this enormous list, causing it to freeze for several minutes. The Solution: Instead of letting CODESYS export every variable by default, you can use a pragma to tell it which variables or GVLs to exclude from the symbol export process. Place the following pragma at the top of any GVL or data structure that you do not want to be part of the symbol configuration: 1 {attribute 'symbol' := 'none'} 2 VAR_GLOBAL 3 // All variables in this GVL will now be excluded from the 4 // Symbol Configuration by default. 5 InternalVariable1 : INT; 6 InternalVariable2 : BOOL; 7 END_VAR After adding this pragma to all the GVLs that were not needed for OPC UA, the number of tags in my Symbol Configuration dropped to the correct amount. The compilation and download process is now fast again, with no freezing. This method is much more efficient than manually managing the symbol list in the editor. Hi everyone, I'm working on a CODESYS-based project running on a Weintek cMT2078X HMI with a built-in CODESYS runtime. The system communicates with multiple Modbus RTU slave devices, arranged in a cascade. The number of connected units can vary between 2 and 8, depending on the installation. Each slave has 17 Modbus channels, which are polled cyclically every 5 seconds. The issue is that when fewer devices are physically connected (e.g. only 3 out of 8), the Modbus master still attempts to communicate with all configured slaves. This leads to massive delays due to timeouts (currently 200ms per channel). For one disconnected device, that’s: 17 × 200ms = 3.4 seconds of delay per polling cycle, and this quickly multiplies with each additional missing slave. This behavior significantly degrades the system's performance and responsiveness. We attempted a workaround where we tried to trigger polling based on a variable in the PLC program, but this caused instability and even led to hardware hangs/freezes on the cMT2078X – likely due to clashes in how the Modbus polling engine and program logic interact at runtime. My main questions are: Is there a way in CODESYS to dynamically enable/disable Modbus slave devices at runtime, using a BOOL or INT variable (e.g. indicating number of active slaves)? Can devices or channels be conditionally polled or temporarily disabled without removing them from the device tree? Are there any best practices or examples for handling variable numbers of Modbus slaves in scalable systems like this? Would splitting communication across tasks or interfaces help reduce the impact of timeouts? Any advice, documentation references, or architectural suggestions would be extremely helpful. Hello, The title pretty much says it all. When trying to open a FB from the CFC/Ladder/SFC editors while online, the FB does not open in an online view of that specific instance. Instead, it opens an offline view with '???' shown for the value of any variable. This makes debugging extremely cumbersome, as I have to find each FB in the POU window and select the specific instance I am trying to view. Anyone know the cause/solution for this? Thanks.

Now I deleted the code from my project and the values are still works as persistant variables after ssh reboot it seems to me they retain as their previous value. So I am a bit confused, maybe 4.12.0.0 Raspberry Pi SL solved the persitent variable problem...

Thanks for the reply, i am using codesys SP16 patch 5 as this is the version that is compatible with my IFM controller. i am accessing the lastusage variable from the VisuStructClientData structure through a pointer. when i log in it lists the time since last log in but does not continually count, it remains a static value which isnt useful. hopefully you can help. Hi mate, With this snippet i was able to see the lastusage variable count, but it would not iterate between clients? i was only able to access the data of the target visu. it threw an error with the array of pointers stating it was not able to convert etc. also when i tried it with the while loop it created an endless loop and crashed the program. any ideas? Im using a pointer as input for a FB and for convenience I like to use 'referenced' variable internally. I use this setup in methods which works because internal variables are instantiated for each call. In a FB these variables are instantiated and initiated for the first call only. Is there a pragma/attribute available that changes this behaviour to mirror a 'method'-call?

I have noticed that Codesys doesn't provide option to Export any Visualization objects even though there is option to check to export VISU_TASK, which is strange because when Import in another empty project, user will end up with build errors. I understand that probable reason for this is that PLCOpenXML specification includes only "PLC" parts of the project (POU, PRG, variable lists, device ....), but not sure about it. Perhaps, there is some option to include visu objects also in the plcopen xml export list??

mir ist kein Scallierungsparameter bekannt bisher. Als Workaround fällt mir folgendes ein: für keypad und numpad jeweils eine zusätzliche Visualisierungen erstellen, welche lediglich einen Frame enthält, der wiederum das originale numpad und keypad aufruft. Über die Eigenschaft relative Bewegung X & Y könnte dann der Frame sogar zur Laufzeit über eine Variable in der Größe angepasst werden. Die beiden ersellten Visualisierungen muss man dann noch im Visumanager unter Dialogeinstellugen als zu verwendende Numpad und Keypad entsprechend zuweisen. Nachteil: Visu-Scallierungen sind oft Spritfresser, sprich gönnen sich ordentlich Rechenleistung. Viel Erfolg!

I am designing a custom slider object and i ran into a problem when i want to use properties with it. I can update the basic variables if i have a slider variable defined as VAR_IN_OUT, but it does not work with properties. How can i achieve same functionality that some basic objects have (for example basic Slider that comes withing the codesys libraries) such that i can pass both variables and properties to it and they can be modified within the object? I am using Codesys V3.5 SP20 Patch 5.

In that case, the best thing to do might be to track the offset in a separate variable of your logic, then when you provide target positions, make your target position use the tracked offset as below: ActualTargetPosition := (TargetPosition + MyOffset) MOD 360; Although, upon further reflection, you'll still have the same cycle time issues. You might be able to break your code into multiple tasks to reduce the cycle time, or use an Event task to capture the offset position?

We are connected IFM CR711S to Exor EX710. We are exchanging data using network variables. Both devices are configured on same project so no need to use file source. When tested application it works fine. But after 3 months same application not working. We are able to send data from CR711 to EX710 but data from Ex710 to CR711s works only for one scan when we cold reset CR 711S. Can somebody help to find out error.

I noticed something strange in the trace: one of the variables (specifically parts.servoFeeder.m_pathGen.m_acPos) is showing an absurd or unrealistic value—something around 4E+18. However, when I check the same variable in the watch window, it shows a normal and expected value (around 506). Do you know why there is this discrepancy between the trace and the watch? Could it be a bug in the trace tool? Thanks in advance!
