Hi all :) I have an plc. This plc has option to be as slave device. There are TCP -> Serial Slave Device and COM -> Serial Slave Device. There are 4096 ModBus holding registers with mark "internal modify" for the both devices above. So, COM Slave has 4096 registers and TCP Slave has 4096 registers. And, finally, I have an ARRAY[0..4095] OF WORD. This array glued with COM Slave and TCP slave. Yes, I need plc's opportunity to be communication both TCP and COM ways for the same registers. For example, the next task structure: * TASK_0: 1. pou_READ_Registers 2. pou_0 3. pou_1 4. ... 5. pou_N 6. pou_WRITE_Registers At the first pou I read registers for the other pous, after job we have sort of state of the plc. At the last pou (6) we write modified registers. It is a good scenario: some one wrote registers for the job, after job we save these (modified) registers. But, what if registers wrote between 1 and 6 pou by operator, for example, at the 3 pou -> the last pou 'pou_WRITE' will rewrite this request from operator. What the right way to work with this logic? Thanks you.

Hi, Learning Codesys CNC, and I am confused by the dwIpoTime parameter. I have a basic demo application, using SMC_Interpolator feeding into SMC_TRAFO_Gantry2Tool2, which then sets the position of the x/y SM_Drive_Virtual axis. I also have a C axis which revolves the tool, which is controlled using a simple tangential angle calculation SMC_CalcDirectionFromVector. The GCode I'm using has feed/accel set at 500. The axis configuration limits are well above that (2000). What's strange is that, when I run the simulation, the feed speed changes drastically when I update the variable dwIpoTime. The larger the number, the faster it moves. What's going on here? The documentation only says "This variable has to be set for each call. It represents the cycle time in μsec." Why does it change the feed speed I'm seeing the in simulation? What is a good number to use? The example I was looking at set it at 5000. Screenshot attached.

I have an application using CNC GCode interpolation, but I need to modify the GCode provided to the PLC based on certain parameters. I am currently attempting to modify the SMC_GeoInfo objects in the SMC_OutQueue using the code below. Note that all the other code is pretty standard and works fine, but when I add the below it errors. It creates a pointer with the value as shown in the photo, but all the dereferenced values say dereference of invalid pointer.

Hello, I have a robot configured as a Generic Ethernet Module under Ethernet/IP Scanner. I can not see the change of state of the outputs coming from the robot on the codesys side in real-time. (The robot has it's own internal program that would changes the values of remote outputs 0-3 off and on). Also when I send data down to the inputs of the robot it doesn't transfer over as expected. As an example I'll send to the robot's input bit 0 a value of 1. It doesn't see that value change. However, when I write that input bit 0 back to a value of 0, the robot changes state and shows a value of 1. And if I change the state of a different bit, the other bits update properly, except for the bit that I changed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and if anything else is needed let me know.

Hello everyone, I am testing the ModbusFB library tcp server and so far I am able to create holding registers successfully, however, I am trying to identify after each write which registers got updated (i.e. function code, write value). I can even see the var udiNumWriteRequests, which increases with every write. I noticed that there is logging with the LogStatusInfo method. After I call it I am able to read in the console stuff that I want. Nevertheless, this is only available at the logs and is not easy to decode because it consists on several messages, I would like to know if there is a way for me to retrieve this information from the function itself with pointers or if there is any way to copy the logs messages (assuming that I can filter them with the LoggingOptions to only show what I need) inside the runtime code and not in the console. hi there , can someone tell me how to deal with this error , please? I use the Linux ARM64SL (4.11) on a bullseye distro and when I want to update or install some package, I have the following reply : pi@NanoPi-R5C:~$ sudo apt upgrade Reading package lists... Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution). and if I try apt --fix-broken install as suggested, I have a proposal to uninstall codesyscontrol ... :-D so I tried to search if there is some Codesys repo: nothing, then I tried to see if ther was something inside Codesys dev (V3.5.20) and I only found that by reading/requesting my device, i spoted that codemeter was too old . I don't see how to deal with this issue. is there a codemeter.deb somewhere ? thanks in advance for any help.

Since version 19 they changed how file access is handle. There are two solutions: 1. You change where the file is stored (need to go to: /PlcLogic/) 2. You can, if you don´t want to store at PlcLogic, add the following line in the CODESYSControl.cfg under [SysFile]: ForceIecFilePath=0 The CodesysControl.cfg is at C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\xxPROJECT_NUMBERxx\ Here the email they sent me: "with the 3.5.19 Version we changed how files are handled. Thank you for your interest. Your answers are in line with what I knew, so at least it comforts me that I did not misinterpret the situation. However, I don't have an exact match as, for this project over the past few days I have: 1) I have gone back to leaving the various FBs of the motion always called, all of them, and in the state machine I use a boolean to activate the various useful Execute. (But in the future I want to go back and try the programming technique with which I wanted to develop this project); 2) For the occasional error: SMC_FB_WASNT_CALLED_DURING_MOTION perhaps it was due to the fact that I had set the Ethercat bus synchronism only at the CAN master level, but not at the level of individual drives. I have now also activated it for the individual drives and it does indeed seem to have been resolved, but having also adopted the programming technique mentioned in point 1), I cannot say whether this was the solution to the problem, or instead the previous point. Is there an error ‘regulator or start not set’ in the device log before the error ‘motion generating FB wasn't called for at least one cycle’? I can't answer that right now. By now the machine is running and I am no longer there, at this one. Also, I seem to remember that the 'fbeFBerror' drive structure (5-element array), does not cycle, BUT ONCE THE 5 EVENTS AFTER SWITCHING ON, IT DOES NOT UPDATE ANYMORE (but that's another issue), so diagnostics were not easy.

hello kevinrn, I've been looking for a solution to the CI/CD issue for a long time. Briefly about me... I am 32 and software architect for Codesys V3 and fullstack dev for web (VueJS, NestJS) in a small company in Erfurt (Germany). https://www.rex-at.de/. Through my web part, we already have CI/CD running well via GitLab (YAML-based configuration file (.gitlab-ci.yml), which defines which pipelines and jobs are executed when certain events occur) with everything you know. Stages for npm packages - prepare (GitVersion, npm install or whatever) - build (vite, tsc or whatever) - testing (vitest, jest or whatever) - deploy (npm packages) And similar for monorepo's or backend services (in NestJS) as DockerImages. For Codesys we have been building an OOP framework for years (~50 libraries now), which is currently managed via SVN and a specially written Svn-Watcher (in Python) gets commits and runs and builds everything together and deploys it to an FTP server and network drive. Why do we still have SVN? Because we are unfortunately still tied to the safety integration of Codesys and can therefore only go to SP15 at most with our controller/Eckelmann. But soon there will be an update and there will be no more obstacles to using Git. Hence my questions: 1. the basic idea is to run a local Windows Runner on some machine? 2. install Codesys on the machine where the runner is running? 3. powershell & python scripts are then used to execute builds (compile, build, sign libraries) & deploys? 4. can the Github action also be used in GitLab? ChatGPT has already told me that it's not the same, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Do you have any ideas on this? Greetings :D

Hello, we have the same problem here. Our configuration in the following: Codesys V3.5 SP19 running on Exor Exware700Q Profinet network connected on Eth1 IOLink Master Turck TBEN-S2-4IOL version 3.5.9.0 IOLink sensors E+H & Sick (Pressure, T°) We installed the codesys IO link package and have the codesys IO Link SL licence activated (on a dongle) Our problem is the following: we got the IODD files from E+H & Sick we add the devices in the codesys device repository with success They appear in the devices tree under IODD branch We added the TBEN IOLink master under the Profinet IO . The IO link master are ok and display online. The IO-Link SL package datasheet indicate that there would be a way to scan the IOLink device from the network but we did not find any way to trigger this scan. (we expect to get this from a right click on each IO-Link Master module but the only possibility there is "Plug device") When clicking on Plug Device, we get a browse window with profinet IO modules. The IODD devices are not there so we cannot select them. But other devices for other brands are available and can be plugged. Our question are : 1) how do we update the Profinet IO Module catalogue in order to be able to plug the E+H & Sick Sensors that we have to work with? 2) how do we activate the Scan IOLlink device that is supposed to be included in the Codesys IO-link package? 3) where can we find the manual explaining how to use this package?

Hello, I am new to Codesys and PLC programming in general (please go easy ha!) I'm not looking for code to be written for me just some help and pointing in the right direction. I am writing some code to send commands to a relay based on input values (to put it simply). Quite basic stuff. I have wrote a function block that takes a global variable (Open_command:BOOL) and outputs to another global variable (Opened : BOOL). The function block is simulating a device so I'll eventually get the globals from that. I now need to create multiple versions of this function block/ device (lets say 100) but I need each iteration of that function block to reference it's own relevant global variable. I think that the best way of doing this would be to use arrays, although I could be wrong. I am aware that for up to 100 instances I could very well manually assign everything but that seems rather time consuming and I want a fancier way of doing it. Here is a very basic example of what I am looking to do, please note I have not written this in proper code it's just to show what I mean. Global Variables V[0-100] int Open_command [0-100] Bool Opened [0-100] Bool Function Block var input x : BOOL Var output y : BOOL if x then y = TRUE ELSE y = FALSE The input to my function block will be Open_command, output will be Opened Example code. If V[x] > 10 then Open_command [x] = TRUE ELSE Open_command [x] = FALSE (So when V1 goes above 10 I need Open_command1 = TRUE therefore initiating FB1 output. V2 > 10, open_command2 = True > FB2 output V3 > 10, open_command3 = True > FB3 output ... ... ) What I can't seem to figure out is how to tie all this together, I have read through the codesys documentation and if anything it has confused me more! ha. I’m currently working on establishing a TLS connection with an MQTT broker using the MQTT Client SL package in CODESYS. While I’ve successfully established communication with the broker without TLS, I'm encountering issues when trying to enable TLS. In the 'MQTT Explorer' application, I can easily upload the server certificate (.crt), client certificate (.crt), and client key (.key). However, in CODESYS, I can’t find a way to upload my client key (.key file). Here's a summary of my current setup: Certificates: I have uploaded both the client and server certificates to the certificate store under the 'Trusted Certificates' folder in the security screen. TLS Context Initialization: Despite setting the _sCommonName as the name of my client certificate, a new self-signed certificate is created and placed within the device’s certificates. I then need to manually move this certificate to the trusted certificates folder. Hello, I am trying to program CAN Bus comunication on WAGO PLC (more precisely on WAGO Touch Monitor model TP600). I am using for this purpose library "WagoAppCanLayer2" from Wago company. After starting program CAN 2 interface is properly open. The xSend variable is toggling with period 2s. When program sends data an "Tx overflow" error appears. When I am watching CAN_H line on DSub 9 socket i am not able to see proper CAN frames - see screenshot attached to this message. Could somebody help me determine what is wrong with this program. Dear folks, I think I have a rather simple question but I could not find the right answer to my question: I have made with Excel a CSV file where I would like to have some general data regarding my program variables. I have made an program what let me read the file. The string I am currently get is at follows: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R$NPort_number;2000$R$NCycle_time;43$R$NStart_Standard_IO;20$R$N' Now I want to split the string in multiple part, which I later would connect to the right variable. I understand that the Find() function returns the first value the $R$N in the Received_string_without_BOM. This would mean that the index_split_part := 23 I|P| _ |A |d|r|e|s|;|1_|9 |2 |. |1 |6 |8 |. |4 |5 |. |1 |2 |$ |R |$ |N |P | 1|2| 3 |4 |5|6|7|0|9|10|11|12|13|14|15|16|17|18|19|20|21|22|23|24|25|26|27| So the next part is to read the first 23 characters of the Received_string_without_BOM with the LEFT() function. I expected that the outcome the following was: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$'. However the outcome is: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R'. I do not understand where the R after the $ sign comes from, because its place is 24 so it would not be added to the part_of the_string[index]. If I hard coded value 24 for the size it gives me the following return: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R$N'. I would expect everything till the R but the code adds the $N also to the string. I hope someone could explain to my what I am seeing wrong in my point of view? With kind regards, George

I have a need to send messages between 2 PLCs and I cant use network variables (because of size limit) so I tried writing this simple test program. This seems to work fine. I can send messages back and forth when a first "Start server" and then "Connect client". See the attached image. However, if I disconnect the client by setting ClientConnect to false and try to re-connect then the TCP_Client just gives me TIMEOUT error. When I stop and start the server again, then Im able to reconnect. How is this supposed to work? Why reconnecting wont work. There is not other way of disconnecting the client than setting xEnable of the TCP_Client to false. This is just a testing program and I will try it on 2 seperate devices once this works. In my machine's operation, I need to display multiples tables containing arrays of structured variables. The arrays change during operation, and my supervisor has advised me to write a new bubble-sort for each array. I think I can make a function to sort an array of any data type. This was my own project, and I'm a relatively new coder. I want to know the weaknesses in my approach, and a better method, if one exists. As far as I can test, the function accepts an array of a structured variable of any size, and sort it by any VAR in that structure. But it relies heavily on pointers, which I've heard are bad practice? I've trimmed down the CAA Serial Codesys example to only listen on one port but, when stepping through the Case structure in debug mode, it jumps out of the structure during a specific point in every scan (I'll point it out below after describing the setup and listing the code). I'm using a Pi 4 Model B, and I have an Arduino Nano Every plugged in via USB which is streaming the following serial message at 1 Hz: Time since opening connection: 1 s Time since opening connection: 2 s ...and so on. I'm forcing xStartTest:=TRUE every scan so that I can step into each line and observe what's happening. What I see is that the port parameters are set and the port is opened with no errors, but the code jumps out of the case structure to the last line every time it reaches (and I step into) the iState:=15 line (at the end of the iState:=0 block). So every scan cycle it goes through the block for iState=0 and jumps out at the same spot. I'm a little new to PLC programming so I may be misunderstanding the flow, but shouldn't this case structure keep moving down in the same scan? If it only handles one case per scan, why doesn't the value of iState persist? Thanks! Update: I restarted the Codesys control today and I was then able to see an error for como1.eError of "WRONG_PARAMETER". I tried doing some digging and another post made me think I should add another line to CODESYSControl_User.cfg, so I now have: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile=/dev/ttyACM portnum := COM.SysCom.SYS_COMPORT1 So now when I set .udiPort to 1, I get "NO_ERROR" but I also don't read anything from the port (i.e. szRead = 0 always). If I try setting the port to 0 (which I'm confused about, because I added a COMPORT1 line but the device shows on the Pi as ACM0), I get the "WRONG_PARAMETER" error again. Is there an easier way to troubleshoot the Pi and view what ports the Codesys runtime is actually able to see while the Pi is running?
