Hello all, I am using the OPC UA server with my custom information model. I have used the communication manager to add my information model under my application and created instances from OPC UA types. I see that the created instances in the OPC UA server has some opaque nodeid (attached screenshot) and I want to change that. Therefore I have the following questions: 1. Is there a way to configure the NodeIds of instances in the OPC UA server? I tried to edit it using the UaExpert client but got error "BadNotWriteable". is it possible to configure it somewhere so that the nodeids can be changed using an external client? 2. Is there a way to define the rule for creating instance nodeids within the codesys IDE? 3. Is it possible to create the instances before e.g. using a modelling tool like UaModeler and import them as part of the information model and use them later? Using the communication manager, I can only create instances from types. I couldn't find a way to map my existing instances to plc tags from my application. It would be nice if someone could help me with these issues. Thanks in advance. :)

Hello Everybody, I have created a project for an Eaton XC303 that sends lots of data to a router via UDP. It works fine. However, when there is more than one product connected to the router, then it is necessary to change the IP address of the Ethernet port 0, from e.g. 192.168.2.11 to 192.168.2.12 (second product). It is easily done via PLC Shell (setipaddr 0 192.168.2.12), but the people in production is struggling with the PLC Shell commands and I would like to create a Visualization page that will hide that. I used the instruction: eChangeIPResult:= SysSockSetIPAddress(strEthernetPort, strIPAddress); and it works, until the PLC resets. I already read some posts and it appears that I need to stop the Ethernet 0 port and Reconfigure it, but I am really struggling to find the right way to do it. Any help will be much appreciated.

I have a Hmi that acts as an interface for many (mostly identical) units. This is managed by a sort of "mux" where you select which unit that should be presented on the HMI. Backbone is solved by a HMI-gvl defined as reference/pointer to "unit-data", which then can be set to the individual units. While this works for most data I still have not sorted how to solve this for the trend recordings. One solution would be to have already "mux:ed" data values as source for the/one trend. However then the trend would contain data from different units/sources which could/will cause confusion. If its possible to "clear" this can be mitigated. Possibly let the trend have its own "mux-selector" (ie, the hmi are focusing on unit#3 however trend data is locked on unit#5), that could also work.. Or, let each unit have its own trend recording, which is focused if the unit is "selected". Can I reach the trend recording objects programmatically (those defined in the device tree)? Ie, can I use a "reference/pointer to these trend recording objects"? There is a field "data source" in the trend properties dialog which seems to resemble what Im looking for? But Im not sure if I can use it in some way, I cannot change anything in this field it only says <local application="">. </local>

I am running ubuntu on a raspberry pi, and installed an application based license Control Basic M on it, it runs a demo program fine, does not timeout etc. however, when I add a modbus TCP device, I start getting errors: <Entry severity="error" component="CmpApp" user="nobody" timestamp="12/18/2023 3:49:42 PM" infoId="24">Online change denied. Hi there. I have an issue to read and set time for the controller. In the issue many registers described as writable by 6/16 functions, and, in this time, also(!) readable! For example: I have time registers: min, hour, day, mon, year. By specifications it is possible check time (so I need always update these varibles in loop) and set time by writing these same registers, BUT how to set, if they will immediatle updated by current time after writing? So, I need to separate one address at two variables. I have seen option mark: Overlay of the process image by the holding and input register. I understand this so: When I READ by function 3, I will get variable that connected with the same INPUT address and when I WRITE by 6/16 this will change second variable that connected with HOLDING address. BUT, this mark doesnt work, when I write 6/16 and try to get by function 3, I will get written value instead INPUT variable. So, what to do?

Hi Duvan, You could make this in 1 single object (FB), Indeed don't use a function for this beacuse you need some memory to keep the old value. Hello mates, I'm working with CODESYS V3.5 SP20 on a Raspberry Pi and I use "Raspberry Pi MC SL" as device on the project. I've installed the Control Standard L (multicore) license on a Wibu System usb-Dongle (cmStick/4.50) that already had another license from another vendor. I follow the online activation procedure from CODESYS documentation. Raspberry Pi has already CodeMeter installed for the other license. When I plugin the dongle on Raspberry and start the Runtime from Raspberry Pi Update in CODESYS I receive the message that I'm on Demo mode because the license is missing. I double checked that the license is activated in the dongle, through the WebAdmin of CodeMeter and the second license runs properly without any issue. I have already try to change the dongle from HID to MSD device and backward but the the Runtime cannot recognize the Dongle. I have also try to stop and start the Runtime through CODESYS without success. Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue?

Hey guys, I am trying to write a JSON. First time after login in PLC after download everthing works. But when I want to change values during runtime and try to recreate the JSON nothing happens. When forcing the xStart as an impulse i want to recreate it and see 2 as Key3 instead of 1 from the first run. Any Idea how to make this work? The hole setup is made by 3s. So its a comination of one not two. If Epis decide not to support extra licence whats then the funtion of providing an option with a single license ?? So the idee by 3s has a flod. Epis change the system to add the Stick. I send controller inc stick to Epis. On my software i can see the stick. An then you tel me i need a other license to use an license ?? Makes completly no sense. Codesys should be flexible but is not. I tried Delta. But has no HMI and has its own Codesys ?? Why ?? Then i tried Crist. The block there own system by a password. But dont know the password and cant switch it off. At the end the want me to pay for support to solve ther own made problem. So i send it al back. The extra license is adviced by 3s . Now a few month later still no working solution.

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 we have been using for years to run CODESYS for development purposes. I recently have had to re-install the OS (Raspberry OS lite). The only change to the default configuration is not creating the "pi" user during install. I (apparently successfully) installed the 4.10.0.0 control on the Raspberry Pi. We have licences on a dongle. I am able to start the control. systemctl status shows it as running for a little while (exactly, precisely 30 seconds as per my tests, every time), then it becomes exited. I can restart the control, and the same thing happens again. Every time. In the brief moments it is running, I can log in to the PLC. Working fast and restarting the control many times, I have been able to configure users. I have been able to download my application. I have been able to run the application, and stop on a breakpoint. I have been able to connect with the licence manager and confirm the dongle is detected and licences are listed as OK. I see nothing wrong until the service just exits. I have found nothing in the logs. It is like the runtime just terminates with no error code or message after exactly 30 seconds. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I am also new to Codesys programming. My problem is this: I have a STRUCT of 64 bool and 30 real, this STRUCT is assigned in the programme 9 times. Now I need to communicate with an HMI via Modbus and I have defined the slave device and created the holding registers for communication. I would like to declare the first call of the STRUCT on the Modbus registers %QX2000.0 to %QX2007.7 for the booleans and on the registers %QW1004 to %QW1034 for the real registers. That said, I would like to change an index and set an offset of 100 bytes for the calls of the other 8 assignments, so that the result is: %QX2100.0 to %QX2107.7 for the booleans and on the %QW1104 to %QW1134 registers for the Real registers, etc. Is there a way to declare this? Hi all, I am using CoDeSys V3.5 and a soft controller Win V3x64. I am trying to read a modbus slave via Function Blocks and not via the channels of the hardware tree for the Slave. I created some requests of type ModbusRequest and I notice that I can read Input Registers and Coils but I can not write Holding Registers and Coils. I am using the library IoDrvModbusTCP 4.1.0.0. When i just use a single modbus request with FC06 (or FC16), there is no request sent to the slave and although the xExecute takes its true value from a pulse of 2 seconds duration, I take almost every 3 minutes an error "TCP_COMMUNICATION_ERROR - 16#A5 - TCP Port. error. Request was not sent". My code is ok because if i change the function code for reading registers, everything works fine. Did anyone have this issue in the past? Thank you in advance.

Before creating this topic, I was browsing the search results for CodesysControl.cfg - many results, and I remember very well, it's a problematic issue for a long time. To summarize: there were many requests for documentation on this file - the most comprehensive reply is: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/ebbf851a3d/#eb85 Hi, not really, this is covered by the manual which you get if you use a runtime toolkit which is not free of charge. Maybe we need to extract the config file part from that documentation if that is possible. BR Edwin I am not sure how much is this relevant, since we buy SL License directly from CODESYS... I think it is a reasonable demand, to get documentation on the configuration entries affecting the documented behaviour of the runtime system and it's components The actual reason I bring up this issue again can be read here: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/febad3cc40/#0e12 but mostly my frustration about noticing some new, unknown and undocumented entries in my configuration file. Again. And this happens a lot recently. Just some examples: Changes with SysFile - and mandatory use of IEC path Introduction of Mandatory user management File transfer service now disabled by default SysProcess - allowed commands The above mentioned CmpApp parameters... And finally (Regaridng windows install): With the newer versions, the installation directory (together with the configuration file) tends to hide itself to some super silly location under the roaming profile data of local system account. I am not sure if this change was documented somewhere, but was a very unpleasant one. Someone could please explain the reason and the concept of the introduction of this release specific directories (I am sure, there is a good reason) - how to use them properly? - How to re-introduce user configuration (to preserve configuration data between versions)? - How to do version - to version migrations properly? - How to keep old version of runtime available and ready to start with it's original configuration and application? - ... Therefore, the lack a regularly updated description of CodesysControl .cfg , including all the configuration entries, together with their default values for different runtime versions is really a big deficiency.* This should be done for all components storing or just seeking data from this file... (Maybe there is such thing but I failed to find???) It is regularly causing trouble when introducing a new version (together with the long awaited bug fixes and enhancements), what has changed it's default behaviour for security or other practical reasons. I agree this is very important, and it is logical to change the default options: But it must be documented historically, and make it easily available, so we can prepare better for the upgrade of the runtime. Forge talk is a great source, but not very practical for this kind of documentation purposes... I am looking for an example of how to run 2 applications on 1 device that would have global variables shared between the two apps. In this case what I am trying to do is to have the main program logic run as one application and then have the visualization run as a second application. I find this https://us.store.codesys.com/media/n98_media_assets/files/000013-F/0/Multiple%20Applications_en.pdf, that talks about exactly what I want to do, but I can't find the download. The main reason I want to do this is for download speed. Right now it takes at least a minute to download our application to the PLC. A simple program downloads to the PLC in a very short time, but add visualization and the download time gets much longer. If I could download the program separately from the visualization I think that a simple program change would take very little time to download. I have tried create a GVL in the POUs view. This partly works in that both applications can see the GVL, but they each create their own instance of it and the variables are not shared between the two apps. There are ideas of using OPCUA but this raises problems with licensing and having to move any variable that needs to be shared into the Symbol Configuration. This adds a lot of management to keep this up to date. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks.

Yep sure, though now that i think of it, its a pi 4. My bad. The whole ordeal was necessary to use the VGA666 adapter. That needs the old graphical system and GPIO directly on the CPU. Edit: Putty on the virtual development machine connects fine. But i did change the login/pw. The account is still a sudo'er so that should be all right. Edit2: Sorry i get a "Comment rate limit exceeded" from the forum. Then i'll add it as edit here. So i have tried the stock raspberry pi image on a different pi5 (truly 5 this time). Packages updated. Standard password. Same symptoms, no runtime deployed and long hang time. It seems that running CODESYS virtualized somehow messes with the deployment?

Hello, i am trying to read multiple lines from csv file with caa file library and oscat. I have wrote 7 lines in the csv with separation '$R$L'. In my "extracting values" part I check line feeds and chars. After that I convert my buffer to string with oscat but I'm only able to read the first line from the csv. No matter if I even change start position where I start converting the buffer, I only get the first line. Thank you very much for the quick answer! The RPi hw were delivered last week so it's probably a resent version. I found an old scrapped board (2 years or so) with a broken GPIO that I tested with the same SD card image and with that board Codeys can run for the full 2h demo period without issues. Then I went back the the new board to test the 4.17.0.0 release but the installation fails... [INFORMATION] Standard output: create and install daemon [INFORMATION] Standard output: codesyscontrol started [WARNING] Unable to detect Raspberry Pi Architecture. Setting armv6l as default, you can change this through the settings panel. [INFORMATION] Standard output: codesyscontrol stopped [ERROR] Expected exit value of command failed: expected 0, received 1 [WARNING] Error setting the Raspberry Pi Architecture [ERROR] Error installing codesyscontrol Do you have any idea what could be the reason? The user Owner is already created by default. Click on Add. ⇒ The dialog box Add User appears. Enter a login name, for example ‘Dev1’, and a password. Leave the option Activated activated. Click on OK. ⇒ On creating a group for the first time, CODESYS now requests you to authenticate yourself to perform this action. In this case, enter ‘Owner’ as the current user. Do not enter a password, just click on OK. The user Dev1 appears in the list and is automatically a member of the group 'Everyone'. Change to the tab Groups, in order to add the user to a new group. ⇒ The groups Everyone and Owner have already been created. Click on Add in order to open the dialog box Add Group. Specify at least one name for the new group, for example ‘Developers’. Activate the checkbox next to the entry User ‘Dev1’ in the field Members. Click on OK. ⇒ The group Developers now appears with has user member 'Dev1'. Switch to the Users tab. ⇒ The user Dev1 now appears as a member of the groups ‘Everyone’ and ‘Developers’.
