I recognized that I have to start the two services "/etc/init.d/codemeter" and "/etc/init.d/codemeter-webadmin" in the docker container as well. If I do so, then the command "cmu -x" returns root@sensoredge-field-netfield-produktmanagment:/# cmu -x cmu - CodeMeter Universal Support Tool. Version 7.60c of 2023-Aug-09 (Build 5625) for Linux/ARMHF 64-Bit Copyright (C) 2007-2023 by WIBU-SYSTEMS AG. All rights reserved. So this time there is no indication any more that "Codemeter is not running". But still we are getting the error when using the license manager in CODESYS development system.

Hallo, nach Erwerb eines neueren Raspberry pi 4 (V1.5) musste ich zwangsläufig von Codesys 3.5.16 hochwechseln - ich habe auf 3.5.20.1 geupdated. Da schlugen mir plötzlich ne Menge Einschränkungen entgegen, deren Behebung einige Zeit dauerte. Eine davon ist, das ein SysFile.SysFileOpen nicht mehr funktioniert. Ich habe das Problem mit Einträgen in der /etc/CODESYSControl.cfg behoben: [SysFile] FilePath.1=/etc/, 3S.dat IecFilePath.1=/proc/, cpuinfo IecFilePath.2=/proc/, iomem PlaceholderFilePath.1=/sys/devices/w1_bus_master1, $OneWire$ PlcLogicPrefix=1 ; ; ---------------------- ; selbst eingefügt PlaceholderFilePath.2=/home/root, $my_home_root$ PlaceholderFilePath.3=/etc/init.d, $my_conf$ PlaceholderFilePath.4=/var/lib/mpd, $my_music$ PlaceholderFilePath.5=/root/Rasp_SPS_Filesystem, $my_Rasp$ Ob die Einträge sich etwas überlappen, kann mir gern jemand sagen, das ist aber nicht das Problem. Ich habe bei den vielen Versuchen, das Teil zum Laufen zu bringen, bemerkt, daß die Einträge auch ganz schnell mal verschwinden. Das ist ja auch so beschrieben, wenn die nächste Version kommt, sind meine Einträge weg. Da ich ähnliche Probleme mit dem Funktionieren von "SysProcessExecuteCommand2()" hatte, die ich ebenfalls mit Einträgen in die /etc/CODESYSControl.cfg hätte beheben können, habe ich gelesen, das man "private" Einträge lieber in die Datei /etc/CODESYSControl_User.cfg machen soll. Gesagt getan und "SysProcessExecuteCommand2()" lief: [SysProcess] Command=AllowAll Command.0=shutdown Aber auch irgendwo stand, das so ein Beteichner wie [SysFile] oder [SysProcess] nur einmal in den beiden Files /etc/CODESYSControl.cfg oder(!) /etc/CODESYSControl_User.cfg vorkommen darf. Das ist nun die eigentliche Frage! Ist das so ? Bei [SysProcess] ist das kein Problem, das gibt es in /etc/CODESYSControl.cfg nicht. Aber bei [SysFile] sieht das anders aus. Da sind 5 Zeilen schon in /etc/CODESYSControl.cfg drin. Würde ich diese in die User-Datei rüberschieben, könnte beim nächsten Update was fehlen oder, oder... Lasse ich es so wie es ist, sind meine Einträge beim Update weg - das sollte ja verhindert werden. Kann da jemand genaue Auskunft geben ?? Vielen Dank Thomas

I try to add a simple text file to my PLC application, so that is download everytime the application is downloaded to the target. What I did is to add an external file to the application and this works perfect as long as the external file location does not change. It looks like the external file path is stored absolute in project. But if different users work on the project they may have different locations where for their working directory. Is there an option to store the external file path relative e.g. to the project file? Or does s.o. know a different solution to add a text file to application in order to download automatically with the application? Thanks

I am trying to show a PDF in a WebBrowser element. I have the file saved to the drive of the HMI/PLC. I am linking it in the URL parameter of the WebBrowser using the following directory link. 'http://localhost:8080/$$sdcard$$/FileName.pdf'. This allows for the program to download without any errors. When I navigate to that screen it is just a white box and nothing shows. I attempted putting the same link in the show parameter and I get a loading icon on my cursor when monitoring the HMI with my PC. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, maybe this fixes your problem. At least this was our issue back then. We tried to run the codesys runtime environment on an embedded Linux system. The problem on our side was that we changed the WORKDIR directory in the /etc/init.d/codesyscontrol script to /home/user/codesys, but we forgot to copy all files (including the hidden files) from the initial WORKDIR (I am not sure but I guess the initial WORKDIR was /var/opt/codesys) to the new one. After copying those files and restarting codemeter and codesyscontrol, we were able to upload licenses. Hope this help BR Josef

I included the stub files of scriptengine (codesys python api) in a directory scriptengine of a project. I tried to include librarymanager like that: from scriptengine import librarymanager visual studio code detected an error. It said librarmanager could not be found. Indeed in the stub file, this was library_manager. But if I change it in my code, the plugin doesn t work anymore. I found an easy solution to this problem. I ve just changed the copied stub files.(library_manager -> librarymanager) But I think it would be better if you update it yourself in the future.

I'm using the JSON Utilities SL library to write configurations in my program to a file. I'm generating the JSON data using the builder function block and all appears to work correctly. When I write the jsondata to file, I'm finding that some of the JSON elements are not being written in the right location in the file. Rather than writing they keys under the parent object, they get written outside the root JSON object at the end of the file. If I then try to read the file back into the program, I get an invalid_structure error. I don't get any errors when populating the JSON data or when writing the file. I attached an example of the JSON writer output. The problems begin with key P200. Each P200 should go under MBR1 through MBR3. Among the rest of the keys, they are supposed to be under different parent objects. I am using default values for wsLineBreak and encoding.

Hi, I have a project currently in development, it has a number of Ethernet/IP devices (18 adapter devices with Codesys as scanner, another scanner device with codesys as adapter). This has been stable whilst on factory floor for several months (though prior to that I did have some Ethernet/IP issues which were resolved by adjusting RPI rates). Today I tried updating to Ethernet /IP 4.6.0 from 4.5.1, subsequent to this I had 2 exceptions in a 2 hour period, I reverted to 4.5.1 and have had no further exceptions. Note I do have a device (Zebra printer) that frequently times out and reconnects, this does not seem to cause any issues in operation and does not cause any exceptions with 4.5.1. I believe the root cause of this is on the Zebra side, however there does not seem to be any adjustment I can make to prevent the time outs. Information from device log is in screenshot attached.

Hello, I hope someone could help me. I installed the newest Codesys 3.5 SP 20 Patch 1. When loading the demo files from @i-campbell I can upgrade them to the latest version and everthing works on the OPC-UA client side as expected (object "a" is visible, I can use the "ExampleMethod"). Now I * remove the "Information Model", * delete the "OPC_UA_Symbols Objects", * Add "Information Model" again * add "TestRootObjectType" again and "Generate IEC declarations" * and search for mapped instances (to get instance "a" again) Very good still working as expected. Now I delete the OPC_UA_Symbols and add it again referring to the "objecttest" from 16.9.2020. Also I redo the steps from above. The result is now, that I can't see the "a" object in the "Root/Objects" folder. Why ist this and how can I make it running? I think, it could may be a different version of the UA configuration file. I tried to build my own model definition files and got the same problem (but I am really not an expert). When someone has a actual model, which is also running in the actual Codesys I would be very grateful. Or even better, how to make the correct model in e.g. UA Modeler SW (I followed the description https://documentation.unified-automation.com/uamodeler/1.6.0/html/howprojnet_sec.html).

Hi, I have successfully deployed "Virtual Control SL" on a few x86/64 machines now. However, I'd now like to deploy this to a Raspberry Pi (ARM64). To do this I prepared the Raspberry Pi5 with the following prereq's; * Minimal PREEMPT Debian * Latest Bootfirmware * full SSH access via non-root account * Podman * RedHat Cockpit with CODESYS LicensServer plugin up and running However, I can't seem to resolve copying the correct (deploy) Images as they wont show up in the CODESYS IDE I have added CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux SL and the CODESYS LicenseServer for Linux SL via the CODESYS installer on my DevBox. I open CODESYS > Tools > Deploy Control SL Next I enter the SSH targets IP and Credentials and for my RPi5 and it shows "Connected". In the next tab, Deployment, the dropdown box only shows one (1) image, which also is the incorrect CPU architecture. Only Virtual Control AMDx64 shows up (!?) while I expect to see the ARM64 based images for both Edge and Control. Has someone encountered this too? Hi, We have a machine running Codesys on a Windows IPC (CODESYS Control Win v3 - x64). When we hard shutdown the machine, the code on the PLC sometimes becomes "corrupted" after a power on (When trying to login to the PLC, we get the message "The application 'Application' does not exist on device."). I've noticed these errors in the logs, but I'm not sure what to make of them. We are not using any RETAIN variables in our code, although I'm not sure about referenced librairies. (we are using the persistence manager). I'm pretty sure that not doing a graceful shutdown is the root cause of this. This being said, what is the proper way of doing a graceful shutdown? Is putting the Codesys application in "stop" sufficient? I know how to implement this, so if it works then it would be a quick fix. However, I think we need to add a UPS, which would detect power loss and inform the PLC that it needs to initiate its shutdown, and then the PLC would shutdown gracefully. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated :)

Hi, We are currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 CM4 module in a EdgeBox RPI 200 - Industrial Edge Controller running the latest CODESYS Runtime Package 4.11.0.0. On the PC (actually an Intel Macbook Pro running Windows 10 in Parallels) we run CODESYS V3.5.19.50. Yesterday end of day when I was about to logoff and head home, I wanted to send the latest build to the Raspberry I clicked the Login button to compile a new version and then sync the application and all the files, it get's stuck on the last file to sync (see attached screenshot). This takes eternally, although sometimes, when I use my SFTP client (Cyberduck) and go into the raspberry and refresh the directory /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/visu/, or when I open the actual file visuelemsdatetime.tl_datetime.txt, it gets un-stuck (forcing a refresh, which might fix the syncing issue) and CODESYS continues and I can click the Start button to start the application. But this SFTP force refresh trick does not always help either... What could be the issue here? network connectivity? Can someone please help me out?

Hi Dave. Thanks for your answer. I still struggling with this. I have done everything according with the Codesys help even I have looked in detail at the example. I have double checked the recipe manager configuration and the use of all the methods. There are two methods that do not work as expected. I'm using Codesys 3.5.19.20 and recipe management 4.4.0.0 .CreateRecipe just create a recipe in the recipe definition but do not create the file. This have a walk around just giving a .ReadAndSaveRecipe afterwards. .ReloadRecipes do nothing but do not generate any error as well. After calling it I call the .GetRecipeCount and the number is always 0. When I create a new recipe (using the function block methods) then the number changes. Looks like this method is looking to the wrong directory finding nothing. I don't know if there is a missing configuration in the CODESYSControl.cfg file. I'm thinking in a walk around for this but I need to create a strings array with the recipe names as retentive and making all the management when deleting and adding recipes. Have had some one the same problem?

Hi, I was hoping I could send the two files "application.app" and "application.crc" directly to the directory "/home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application" instead of logging into the device with codesys, downloading the program to the controller and then do the "create boot application", so it will reboot with the correct program running. I think i also need to edit the file "eRUNTIME.cfg" located in the "/home/codesys/ folder, because when I create the boot application from the codesys IDE, these lines are added to the file: [CmpApp] Application.1 = Application [SysFileMap] /home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application/Application.app=0x212520, 0x2DBC747E, 2DBC747E.app I think the "eRUNTIME.cfg" file is the same as CODESYSControl.cfg I also dont know the purpose of the hexadecimal numbers etc. that is generated. When I tried to replicate what codesys was doing, I placed the same files in the same folder as when codesys generated the boot file. And also added the lines in the eRUNTIME.cfg file: [CmpApp] Application.1 = Application [SysFileMap] /home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application/Application.app The controller did not boot up with any program, so my method did not work at all. I guess these lines tells the controller to run an application and where to find it? Could any of you help me with the best way to get the compiled program to the controller without using codesys or wago-software?

Hi everybody, I've been facing problems with the PDF visualization in Web Browser. I am trying to open a pdf file called 'sample.pdf' which I manually saved inside PlcLogic/visu folder. I am setting the web browser URL as: 'http://127.0.0.1:8080/sample.pdf' but I get 'refused connection'. I got a similar error trying to open https sites and I discovered that I can only open http websites. Opening 'http://de.wikipedia.org' everything works fine. I also tried to check using code whether the sample.pdf is present in the directory. Unfortunately, when I try to read directories of 'PlcLogic' I get file FILE_OPERATION_DENIED (I am using File.DirList). I would like to be able to open PDF files in web browser. Possibly to move new PDF files in the folder as my customer wants to display different pdf manuals on the hmi. Here you find some screenshots and my .project. I am using Codesys 3.5.19.70. Post by cdutz on Problems connecting to Codesys 4.9.0.0 runtime on my Wago PFC200 ^{CODESYS Forge talk (Post)}
Hi all. I am currently struggling to get my Wago PFC200 running the Codesys Runtime in version 4.9.0.0 working. I am using Codesys V3.5SP19. I updated the PFC200 to the firmware version 04.01.10(23) after having tried the latest version (04.03.03(25) from Wago and not being able to start the runtime. After reading version 23 was needed, I changed to that and at least was able to have it start the codesys runtime. I also installed the "Codesys Control for PFC200 SL 4.9.0.0" plugin for Codesys to install the Codesys runtime in version 4.9.0.0 as well as update the Gateway on the device. While I seem to be able to connect to the gateway on the PLC (the dot is green) and when doing a scan, I do now find my PFC200, which is a huge improvement to before, where with firmware version 25 it just failed to start the runtime and I never found any device when doing a scan. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to connect to the PLC in codesys. I logged in via SSH and changed the password and I can see that this password is correct as the stuff in the Codesys PFC200 tools tab only works if I use my changed password. And I used those credentials to update the installed Runtime version, which the log claimed to have worked fine. Now whenever I try to connect to the device found in the scan, I get a authentication pop-up with empy device name, device address: 000A. As User I use "root" and as password the password that I changed it to. As a response I just get "Ungültige Benutzerauthentifizierung auf dem Gerät" (Eng. probably something like "Invalid user authentication on the device". What could I be doing wrong? Admittedly I'm a bit lost here :-/ Chris

Can you confirm that CODESYS licensing works also when CODESYS is installed in a Docker container?

Since version 19 they changed how file access is handle. There are two solutions: 1. You change where the file is stored (need to go to: /PlcLogic/) 2. You can, if you don´t want to store at PlcLogic, add the following line in the CODESYSControl.cfg under [SysFile]: ForceIecFilePath=0 The CodesysControl.cfg is at C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\xxPROJECT_NUMBERxx\ Here the email they sent me: "with the 3.5.19 Version we changed how files are handled. Hi After much trail and error I think I found the root cause to my OPC UA problem. The problem is that I cannot manage to build and download a program with a a custom OPC UA Information model. We use a Weidmueller WL2000 PLS, but the problem also exsist on the Win V3 PLC. Our custom information model is based on the latest versions of the OPC UA Core Nodeset v 1.05.03 (2023-09-20) and UA/DI nodeset 1.04.0 (2022-11-03) Those nodesets are installed in the Codesys Information Model Repository (3.5.19.6) However, when trying to build I get the following error. [ERROR] Untitled1: Communication Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: The information model http://opcfoundation.org/UA/ is required by http://bos.org/ with a minimal publication date from 15.12.2023 but the device has only a model from 15.09.2021 installed. Probably the information model from 15.09.2021 is missing in the information model repository. [ERROR] Untitled1: Communication Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: The information model http://opcfoundation.org/UA/DI/ is required by http://bos.org/ with a minimal publication date from 03.11.2022 but the device has only a model from 09.03.2021 installed. Probably the information model from 09.03.2021 is missing in the information model repository. Build complete -- 2 errors, 1 warnings : No download possible I think the problem is that the UA Core nodeset is implemented in the PLC firmware (at least that in Siemens S7), and that only includes the "old" nodeset from 2021-09-21 etc. So the question is, how (or if?) can I transfer the new nodeset to the PLS? I have created separate Information models under Communication manager with the newer code nodesets (UA and DI). But it seems that the compiler does not recognize them being excising, neither in the Codesys IDE or on the PLC. Would have guessed that this is a common issue, sine many manufacturers use the latest versions of the OPC UA standard, and that it would be a solution to the problem.
