Hi, I would like to divide a project into multiple applications - as a minimum: one handling visualization and Alarm Manager, one handling I/O and plant control logic. But how to exchange variables between the applications? What have you done to get such a solution? In versions 3.5.19 and earlier, you can have Child applications, where the children can access a GVL in the Parent application. Children apps is no longer possible in 3.5.20 - but you can have 'sibling' apps - Several apps directly under PLC Logic, that is. But how do they best communicate? The Communication Manager / Data Sources Manager is sort of possible via OPC UA, but it seems like overkill and with some limitations - for example no ARRAY OF STRUCT possible this way. If you have separate devices in your project, you can exchange data via 'CODESYS ApplicationV3', but not other applications in the same device (see attachment Datasources.png). You can do it via 'Select the project type'->'Other Project' and select the same project file, but this leads to crashing the Development system when working with the variables afterwards. It would be great to hear your thoughts / experiences on this topic - Bjarne

Hello, I am using codesys Modbus TCP client (4.4.0.0) to communicate with a python modbus server (package pyModbusTCP). I first start my python server on the distant machine. After a fresh codesys compilation, a plc connection/transfer and a PLC run, the modbus connection is OK. Every time in this context the connection is created correctly. When I shut down the server, the modbus connection falls, that is normal. When I restart the python server, impossible to recreate the modbus connexion. With the client autoreconnection, I see on my server that the client tries to connect but unsuccesfully. I have the following message : DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:accept new connection from ClientInfo(address='192.168.1.20', port=33476) DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:Exception during request handling: NetworkError('recv return null') I tried to stop the codesys client and to restart it with these commands : Modbus_TCP_Client.xStop := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Client.Enable := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Server.Enable := True; // Or False I tried to confirm the error manually to force reconnection with: Modbus_TCP_Server_Motors.xConfirmError := TRUE; I tried also this command to STOP/RESET/START client and server (codesys side) but nothing happens : status_client := Modbus_TCP_Client.SetCommunicationState(eRequestedState := DED.DEVICE_TRANSITION_STATE.STOP); // .RESET & .START The answer of this function when executed is "status_client = NOT_SUPPORTED" It seems that is a socket problem, but I do not understand if it is on the client or server side. I tried a modbus simulator called "ananas.exe" and the result is the same. Impossible to get a modbus reconnection. What is different at the first connection and at a reconnection attempt ? Hi, I'm having some trouble with an OPC client connecting to the PLC. It could be that the problem is on the client side of things. The PLC have UPS power, but the switch and OPC client does not. It could explain some of the log messages. Could any of you help debugging by the log messages in the attachment? And if possible point me to the right library that explains the different messages? I have a DFRobot RS485 temperature & humidity sensor (SEN0438) connected to my Raspberry Pi via a USB to RS485 adapter. I am able to connect and read the sensor data when running a python code locally. However in Codesys, I encounter this error "A bus error has occurred." and "There was no response in time". Could this be because of Modbus Server Channel and Modbus Server Init configuration on my part? Admittedly I am new to Codesys. To get to this stage, I: 1. added some lines to CODESYSControl_User.cfg 2. added "Modbus_COM" in Codesys and set "Serial Port Configuration" under "General" 3. added "Modbus_Master_COM_Port" in Codesys and checked transmission mode is set to "RTU" 4. added "Modbus_Slave_COM_Port" in Codesys and checked server address is set to 1 (also set 1 in my sensor) 5. added 1 channel and 1 init for "Modbus_Slave_COM_Port" under "Modbus Server Channel" and "Modbus Server Init"

Some new test. Now I cannot connect from Automation server to my gateway in any way also from my office setup with my unit directly connected to my router by dhcp. I can use the IDE and the tool "Connect Edge Gateway" and successfully connect to my server/link to my Automation server account. However no PLC will respond from Automation server "Network scan". I guess the traffic should be initiated by the gateway towards automation server? Any tips on how I can diagnose my problem? Ports to be opened etc? Thing is that this has been working previously but not now (base system has been updated from debian 12 to debian 13, but I dont know at which point it has stopped working). Setup as before. A "Codesys Control for Linux SL" running on a debian 13 installation. Any help/tips appreciated! Per Update. Found the error. Had a wrong gateway-setting. Which meant the PLC could not reach internet. Checked by "ping google.com" from the PLC.

There appears to be a limit to the number of OPC Servers that can be connected simultaenously. 1-10 work but adding an 11th makes one of the previously linked ones unavailable. Is this a soft setting that can be adjusted? Using 3.5.18.30 on Win x64

Hello everyone, I am testing the ModbusFB library tcp server and so far I am able to create holding registers successfully, however, I am trying to identify after each write which registers got updated (i.e. function code, write value). I can even see the var udiNumWriteRequests, which increases with every write. I noticed that there is logging with the LogStatusInfo method. After I call it I am able to read in the console stuff that I want. Nevertheless, this is only available at the logs and is not easy to decode because it consists on several messages, I would like to know if there is a way for me to retrieve this information from the function itself with pointers or if there is any way to copy the logs messages (assuming that I can filter them with the LoggingOptions to only show what I need) inside the runtime code and not in the console. Solved (see comment) Setup: Kunbus RevPi Connect+ (a raspberry based PLC) Codesys runtime package: 4.5.0.0 (raspberry, armhf) based on Codesys V3.5.18.20 Edge Gateway: 4.5.0.0 (edgearmhf,armhf) EN: The edge-gateway was added over a year ago to the automation server. I now need to make a few changes to the Codesys software, but the Pi is not showing as online in the Automation Server. Internet connection is established, I have remote access to the Pi via RealVNC. Anyone have an idea how I can solve this? Some screenshots added. DE: Ich muss nun ein paar Änderungen an der Codesys-Software vornehmen, aber der Pi wird im Automation Server nicht als online angezeigt. Hi All, I use the analysis page in automation server to capture historical trends from my PLC - i only sample one point per hour but it does the job (for now) One issue I have is I often log on to analysis page to find the system has stopped recording trends from my PLC. To fix this, I need to choose "state information" in the "List view" under PLC and click "Reconnect" When I do this I see my variables listed under "parameters" under "PLC Details" start updating again and the trend in Data analyzer continues to update. My Question, Why do I need to manually reconnect? Is there a way to get automation server to automatically reconnect to the PLC so I continue to capture data from the PLC? Regards, Trent

If I am understanding what you are saying, then yes that would be your problem. I would create an array of bools on the client side for the transfer and try that. Or if client can't be changed then use words on server and unpack. But I am not sure if you or I are mis interpreting but it sounds a bit jumbled. I don't know what you have control of, but, if you are turning on BITS in the server, you should write to BITS in the client with a Function 15. If you are writing to WORDS in the server, you should write to WORDS in the client with a Function 16.

Hallo zusammen, ich nutze eine Wago 8212 als Modbus Client (in früheren Codesys Versionen hieß der Modbus Master) und habe einen weitere Wago 8212 als Modbus Server (früher Modbus Slave). Bisher habe ich für den Client den Funktionsblock FbMbMasterTcp aus der WagoAppPlcModbus-Library genutzt. Zukünftig würde ich das allerdings gerne über das Anhängen eines Modbus-Geräts am Ethernet-Knoten im Projektbaum realisieren. Zum besseren Verständnis habe ich ein Bild beigefügt. Der Modbus mit dem Server läuft auch. Kommt es allerdings zum Fehler des Modbus, z.B. kurzzeitig keine Verbindung oder timeout, wird der Fehler nicht automatisch quittiert. Ich muss dann manuell über den Status des Server-Knotens einen Button mit "Bestätigen" drücken. Im Betrieb kann ich mich aber nicht jedes Mal einloggen um einen Fehler zu quittieren. Gibt es hier irgend einen Trick, wie ich das aus dem Programm-Code quittieren kann? Vielen Dank schon einmal.

Hi Everyone, As we didn't have client for IEC - 104 - only server server is available , so because of that we are trying to make establish the communication between the external simulator as a Client and codesys itself as a server. We are looking for the variable behavior from CODESYS has to change according to the message triggered by the CLIENT (we are using simulator Application like Redisant). We are able to see the log data as the status of triggering the SCS from Client received to the Log data of the codesys device(attached screen shot of it) and in simulator panel we had set the details to trigger the data from Redisant to Codesys. Current Status: The project builds and runs successfully, but I need guidance on how to connect this to an external IEC-104 simulator for testing and visualization by using demo mode.

Hallo zusammen, ich erstelle eine CSV-Datei, die im Moment mit file.Write lokal in einem Verzeichnis (/home/pi/Logdaten/logData.csv) gespeichert wird. Jetzt möchte ich die gesammelten Daten aber gerne im Netzwerk speichern. Der Versuch, die Datei unter //Server/Public/logData.csv zu speichern, hat sich so geäußert, dass ein Ordner (Server) im Stammverzeichnis auf dem Pi mit Unterordner erstellt wurde und dort die Datei abgelegt wurde. Gibt es hier eine einfache Möglichkeit, die Datei vom Pi herunter zu bekommen? Leider habe ich im Netz nicht wirklich was hierzu gefunden. Grüße Hermann

Hello, I am struggling with Edge gateway to the automation server. It is not possible to establish the link. When I create the Edge in codesys and get it to Automation server, it is red, unable to connect. Scan fails. RPi 4B Runtime 4.13.0.0 Edge gateway 4.13.0.0 Codesys 3.5.2.40 Any idea what to chase? I have been using previous versions of edge gateway. Now I updated all to latest versions, failed. Frustrating.

yes and no ... if you run the license server on the host (to serve licenses to the docker instances / vplcs then there is no runtime which could check the licenses on the host. Therefore you need the CODESYS WBM to activate or check the licenes or you could use in CODESYS IDE the licensemanager ( not the one for the device licenses) but you have the the IP of the license server that he know where to search for the licenses ..tool options i guess to add it, will add a screenshot later.

Hi everybody, recently I was checking how many time consuming manual tasks I can perform with python scripts through ScriptEngine. I have in the project many devices and currently I export bootprojects for them by right clicking on Application, then go Export -> Bootproject and firmware (SD Card) and then point folder where files should be exported. It's fine if project has few devices, but I have some of them with over 30 devices and manual clicking like that is very time consuming. How can I do it with python script? So far I found "create_boot_application" method from Application object (taken by projects.primary.find('Application', True)) but it only generates .app and .crc file instead of full structure to store on SD card (FIRMWARE, USERDATA, SDCARD.INI, Version, Version.txt.sig). Should I use some method to control user interface? Best regards, Adam
