Old thread, I know - but it still has good answers. I would like to add a bit of info to it, as I was having a problem that lead me to this thread, but didn't give an exact answer. I am porting a project to a different PLC architecture. (Wago PFC300) A GVL named 'GVL' in the POUs section of my project was shadowed by a PLC-specific library in the Application->Library Manager. So all the existing references in the device specific code to 'GVL.something' would not resolve. Right-clicking the GVL in the code and 'Go to definition' would point me to the library in the Application Library Manager. All I had to do from there, was right-click the library, and set the property 'Only allow qualified access to all identifiers' in the library.

I tried several time googling for alternative systems to control the PLC applications and resets but without success. I would like to realize the possibility to reset the CPU and to start/stop the applications as it was possible with the SysPlcCtrl23, but this library is no longer supported in 64 bit systems and it seems due to the cmperrors interfaces sub library that was included in the above said one. Someone found a work around for this issue?

I am looking for an example of how to run 2 applications on 1 device that would have global variables shared between the two apps. In this case what I am trying to do is to have the main program logic run as one application and then have the visualization run as a second application. I find this https://us.store.codesys.com/media/n98_media_assets/files/000013-F/0/Multiple%20Applications_en.pdf, that talks about exactly what I want to do, but I can't find the download. The main reason I want to do this is for download speed. Right now it takes at least a minute to download our application to the PLC. A simple program downloads to the PLC in a very short time, but add visualization and the download time gets much longer. If I could download the program separately from the visualization I think that a simple program change would take very little time to download. I have tried create a GVL in the POUs view. This partly works in that both applications can see the GVL, but they each create their own instance of it and the variables are not shared between the two apps. There are ideas of using OPCUA but this raises problems with licensing and having to move any variable that needs to be shared into the Symbol Configuration. This adds a lot of management to keep this up to date. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks.

How to use same communication of similar UDT for Opto22 Groov PR2 PLC in Codesys V3.5 SP20. Can I use OSCAT library - Network -MB_Client or IODrvModbusTCP - ModbusRequest for this requirement? If any other please guide.

You need to download the example project and you need that structure of the project and one of the additional hardware sets https://forge.codesys.com/drv/sm3raspistepper/home/Home/ L298N or A4988, DRV8880. Important to have no GPIO in the project and have this additional tasks.
