Dear Forum, We are currently switching to a native Codesys controller, and I'm currently trying to determine the correct license. I have a question regarding the Modbus instances. With the Standard S license this is set to 4 (See picture). In our projects we are using a lot of communications to Modbus servers using a Codesys Controller, for this communication I'm using the ModbusFB library (supplied by 3S) (see picture). In my project I would like to use more than 4 instances of the ClientTCP FB. My question is, is this now capped at 4 possible connections with the standard S license. Or do these function blocks have a different relation with the license? Some clarity on this topic would be very welcome. Thank you in advance

Hello, I wrote a function block for a controller but I have a warning code C0373 "expression or part of it has no effect" and the sub routine which contain my function block is underlined in blue. Despite, the FB works perfectly. Do you know why I have this warning ? Thanks. Pascal.

If your Control Win is the Modbus "Master" then your configuration should be something like: Modbus_COM (Serial port) - Modbus Master (this is the Control Win SoftPLC actively setting up the communication) - Modbus Slave (this is then your WAGO 750-315) You need to add channels to the Modbus Slave configuration to inform the master which variables to read/write from the Wago module. The way you configured it now, the Control Win is also a slave. PS, don't forget to put the PLC (Control Win) in Run.

Dear Mr. Kolev, can you please explain a little more: what happens at an STO? I assume the slave axes will be stopped and retain their current position? How, then, do you call MC_CamIn after the STO? Do you restart it with a new rising edge, but on the same master position as before the STO? Which StartMode are you using, is the cam slave absolute or relative, master absolute or relative? hi guys Maybe someone can help me in this case. Im working with codesys 3.5 with an PFC200 (750-8212) with a Modbus TCP conection to the 750-362. On the 750-362 i have a 4DO, 8DI and a RS485 interface card. the 4DO and 8DI cards a working fine but im strugling with the rs485 card. Does someone have a example for this?

Are you using the Control Win SL (installed together with the development environment of CODESYS)? If yes, you might want to consider using the CODESYS RTE instead. This has real-time capabilities (running on separate core(s)). But to be able to use this, you have to install the CODESYS Ethernet driver for your network interface to be able to let the RTE access the network port also in realtime. See: https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-control-rte-sl-bundle.html https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Control/_rtsl_windows_rts_v3.html PS, I haven't tested this myself yet, but you could try to use the SetCommunicationState method of the Profinet controller to see if you can reset and start the bus communication: result := PN_Controller.SetCommunicationState(eRequestedState := DED.DEVICE_TRANSITION_STATE.START); PS, if you are located in the Netherlands or Belgium, we could also provide the license(s) for you.

Hi there, Read the above description and experienced the same: Reading coil/discrete input/input register/holding register doesn't fill the mapped I/O variable. Any suggestions? Defined (see attachment): - Ethernet (with parameters according to the used Ethernet adapter of my Windows 11 laptop) - -Modbus TCP Client - - -LOGO231 as Modbus TCP Server - - -WS242 as Modbus TCP Server (WaveShare Modbus TCP <-> RTU converter) - - - -WS242_01 as Modbus Server, COM port (slave-id 1 RTU) - - - -WS242_03 idem (slave-id 3 RTU) - - - -WS242_11 idem (slave-id 11 RTU) Writing coil/holding register works from a mapped I/O variable works fine. Verification of Modbus traffic with WireShark: QUERY to and the RESPONSE of all slave-ids are correct Status of all defined is CONNECTED, RESPONSE_SUCCESS, RUNNING etc. Request counters increase with expected frequency. Error counter = 0. (To have all counters works fine I had to change Modbus TCP Client's parameter OptimizationON to FALSE). LOGO231 works fine: values in mapped I/O conform expectation WS242 without Modbus Server, COM port and with defined channels (for only 1 slave-id possible) works fine. PLC Settings: Update I/O while in stop: I see xBusy changing from FALSE to TRUE and vice versa. Always update variables: Enabled 1

Ich würde gerne bestimmt Modbus RTU Slave Adressen auslesen, leider bekomme ich keine Werte vom Bus. Verbindung erfolgt über einen Raspberry mit Modbus RS485 Adapter, welcher erfolgreich verbunden ist. Mit einem IOBroker kann ich die Daten erfolgreich auslesen. In der Modbus_COM_Port => Modbus_Serial_Device habe ich Input Register 4000 %QW und Startadressen auf Input Register 3000, als Variable ein Array[0..2999] of Word, kann aber keine Werte auslesen.

I have a serial Modbus RTU communicating to the Slave device. But when the control system is not in Run there is no power applied to one of the Modbus Devices. Can I enable / disable the communications to that Modbus Slave in the code based on my running mode, so I don't get all the errors?

Ive copied slave 3 to slave 1. Runs without a problem. Then i copied 1 to 3. It hangs/freeze immediatly. not even a screen. Only thing that is diverend is the network variable. What is the problem with version 20.5 / 21.0 ? Not even my dealer knows whats the problem

In the device selection. Do not filter on Phoenix. Remove this filter and first add an Ethernet Adapter from CODESYS. To this Ethernet adapter add the Profinet Controller. After this you can filter on Phoenix devices in the "add device dialog".

Needed to connect to PFC200 via Putty, and open CodesysControl.cfg with “sudo nano /etc/CODESYSControl.cfg”. Then adding following command to the end of file, and use the name you want, save/close CODESYSControl.cfg, and reboot your PLC. [CmpOPCUAProviderIecVarAccess] CustomNodeName= PFC200 Hi! , I'm digging up this issue cause we have still this long name within current versions on CodesysControl. Is it a lock for "demo" licences or can it be changed in some way ? This DeviceSet name is too way long with spaces inside, not easy to handle with string parsing... Cheers !

Hello everybody I want to controll a stepper driver from Leadshine (EM3E-556E). The EtherCat slave is CiA 402 compatible. Because of this I bought the Softmotion Light Package from Codesys and implemented it in my project. I rightclicked the EtherCat slave and added the Softmotion Light axis. But now the error message shows: "The license is missing or invalid. The PLC runs in demo mode." What have i done wrong? I use Codesys 3.5.17. Is it possible that the stepper driver is not compatible with the Softmotion license? Thanks for all your help

I was able to download the project to the controller, but as soon as I try to recycle the power it power back up with no project. I have not ran into this problem before. I don't have time to go through the whole manual but as I said earlier, the servo drive does not support any of the modes needed for SoftMotion Light to work. If you want to use the full SoftMotion, you could use SMC_Homing function block to do the homing. This function block does not use the Homing Mode. It still uses the CSP mode and does the logic in Codesys runtime instead of in the servo drive. Read the documentation about it to see if it fits your needs. But if your controller only supports SoftMotion Light, I am afraid you will not be able to use the i950. I do a lot of motion stuff with different servo brands. Some support all the modes needed for SoftMotion Light and some don't. You really need to make sure the modes are supported before choosing a brand over another. I tend not to use brand specific controllers in order not to be limited by their supported features. I usually choose a PC (Linux or Windows) and install the Codesys runtime and licences myself. This is the most flexible way to use Codesys in my opinion. Depending on how many axes are needed in your project, a full SoftMotion license may not be more expensive than SoftMotion Light because SoftMotion is available as Application based license whereas SoftMotion Light is not. But of course, SoftMotion is harder on the CPU than SoftMotion Light.
