Hi guys, Can someone inform where in a raspberry pi are stored the codesys programs? I´ve been training the use of a RPI as PLC, which works pretty well, however while both the RPI and PC (running codesys) remain connected to the same network. The question is: how to run the codesys program downloaded to the RPI as a stand alone device (disconnected from the PC)? Thanks! Kreis

Hello, The title pretty much says it all. When trying to open a FB from the CFC/Ladder/SFC editors while online, the FB does not open in an online view of that specific instance. Instead, it opens an offline view with '???' shown for the value of any variable. This makes debugging extremely cumbersome, as I have to find each FB in the POU window and select the specific instance I am trying to view. Anyone know the cause/solution for this? Thanks.

Yes, you can use the CODESYS ControlWin V3 Soft PLC. However, if simulation is enabled on the device this will disable all communication, so you need to turn off simulation to view the visualization in a web browser. In simulation mode, all IO and communication is disabled for standalone testing. In addition, make sure to set the start visualization in the WebVisu object in the application tree. I hope this helps!

Okey, thank you! Do you think it is something in this library, that makes it possible to do the configuration in a PRG? https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/IODrvEtherCATDriver/Current/IoDrvEtherCAT.html#id1 I think the codesys modbus libraries support configuration and connection to modbus slaves without having to add the slave devices in the device tree. Just do it from function blocks inside the program. I was hoping for something similar with EtherCAT.

Select in tree "DEVICE", right-click and select "Update Device" Select "Library manager" and Change the version of the Library (down manualy). Samoetimes "Try reload Library". If you open a project version 3.5.19 in version 3.5.16, there are difficulties.

CODESYS runtime version 4.9.0.0 for your Pi. ssh user should be pi. This is for RasperrPi Os 32 bit. If you are on RasperryPi OS 64Bit use Arm 64bit SL product as Runtime.

ok now it is clear - this is a single core Pi Zero W. For this device there is no edge device available. But just for working with CODESYS it is not really needed and yes plc runs only for 2h unlicensed.

It like that older version codesys can't download libraries in codesys. but I have a device using 3.5.14.0, the newer verion codesys can download libraries, but not works well in the device.

Hi, I guess you don't have the right xml file. Download Beckhoff_EtherCAT_BKxxx_MDP.zip from https://download.beckhoff.com/download/configuration-files/io/ethercat/xml-device-description and install these in Device Repository.

..strange just switching of this device without graceful Linux OS shutdown? Reset orgin on the device tree and a new download of the application will bring it up and running again but sure then the persistent data are for sure lost.

"Hello, I'm Cedric Lee, a PLC engineer based in Korea. I'm reaching out about an ongoing issue with the connection when attempting to control Beckhoff modules using Raspberry Pi with CODESYS for the first time. I use CODESYS to target the Raspberry Pi's IP, install version 4.10.0.0 of the CODESYS Runtime Package, and upon pressing Start in the Runtime, the target connects to the Raspberry Pi. However, within about a minute, an error window appears, stating 'no connection to the device. please rescan your network,' leading to the disconnection of the target. This cycle repeats. I've attached some pictures for your reference. I'm using CODESYS Development System V3, Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (installed as 64-bit), and Beckhoff EK1100 modules. If anyone has a solution to this issue, please help. Your assistance is greatly appreciated."

Hi, I am looking for a good way to update a decice remotely. The devices are distributed worldwide and have normally no connection to the internet. The CODESYS Automation Server can't help here. So I want to update the decices via USB stick. I have written my own code* to update the files that are created with ‘Create boot application’. But sometimes strange things happen: visu elements are present, but are not found the application is no longer registered and therefore no longer starts I have not yet found out why these errors occur. Has anyone had similar problems or found a better way? Is there perhaps a CODESYS library or something else? Many thanks! *the code deletes the directories on the device and copies the new directories from the USB stick while the system is running (goes without saying)

I have a project in which there is a Safety device in CANopen, and the PLC interfaces with it as Master. I would like to understand if it is possible to set the behavior in case one of the SRDOs that I receive from the slave is no longer received. From what I have seen, if the SRDOs are not received, the CANopen safety status becomes "Not in progress" and the mapped variables freeze at the last value detected. I want to understand if it was possible to set the variables connected to the SRDOs to take a default value (e.g. zero) in the event of a CANOpen error during reception.

max. string length in Codesys is 255 chars. It's not possible to cram 20,000 things in a string. If you need to send the data to another device, send the whole data[] array (as byte array, without doing anything to it) and extract the information on the other end. As each struct member has a fixed size (81 bytes, as per you declaration), this will be easy. To save some resources, consider declaring string lengths - e.g. if the max possible length for key is 10 chars, declare it key: STRING(10); and it will occupy 11 bytes instead of 81

Codesys control was installed on the device and I can log into it but it seems that it does not pick up the PLC or the IO attached (Please see attached Image). The Bus Cycle Task of the AXL F 2152 is set to Main Task and the "Always update Variable" is Enabled on each IO Module. My Main Task interval is set to 100ms and Priority is set to 0. I have tried other options and none seem to work. Your response to this issue will be highly appreciated.

Hi, I need to accesss to project information of a referenced library in the project. At least I need the "Released" flag from these information to check that no project gets shipped with unreleased libraries. Unfortunally, I do not get this information by script. I figured this out on my own with this logic: usually the Serial port on a Raspberry pi is on /dev/ttyUSB0 then you need to set linux.DeviceFile=/dev/ttyUSB in codesys you then must set com port to 1 so i assumed codesys subtracts 1 from the number and adds this to the filename... (in code it would look like this: var comPort : byte := '1'; linuxDevice : string := '/dev/ttyUSB'; filename : string; end_var filename := concat(linuxDevice, (to_string(comPort-1)); filaname then is /dev/ttyUSB0 RevPi uses ttyRS485 as Serial port so you must remove the last number from the name and set the com port to this number +1 i hope this is understandable ;-)

Hello everybody I have two of these EtherCat CiA402 stepper driver from Leadshine: https://www.leadshine.com/product-detail/EM3E-556E.html I want to controll them. I already have implemented them in Codesys with Softmotion. I see the position, the velocity and the status word so I can read everything. See picture 1. But when I want to write something like MC_Power or MC_MoveAbsolut with the SM3_Basic library it wont work and with the MC_Reset POU it shows: "SMC_R_DRIVE_DOESNT_ANSWER". See picture 2. Hello, I've been trying to use EoE for communication between a Windows PC and an M753 drive from Control Technique. Despite following some online guides (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/EtherCATStack/4.3.0.0/Ethernet_over_EtherCAT/fld-Ethernet_over_EtherCAT.html) I haven’t had any success. Both are connected to a Debian device where RTE is running: The PC is connected via the Ethernet port. The drive is connected via the EtherCAT port. I'm unable to ping the drive from my Windows PC. Here is my configuration: On Debian: (See attachments 1, 2, 3) enp1s0 = Ethernet port enp2s0 = EtherCAT port tap2 = TAP device IP forwarding and routes are both configured. On Windows: (See attachments 4, 5) On Codesys: (See attachments 6, 7) Version: Windows 11 Debian GNU/Linux 11 Codesys 3.5.17 Control for Linux SL 4.7.0 EtherCAT 4.4.0 With this configuration, I can ping the TAP device, but not the drive (See attachment 8). Could someone explain how to properly configure all these settings? Thank you, GA
