Hi, thanks for the link. Maybe I create elements in incorrect way. I always use Interface Editor to create variables which are used inside element (see pics). After that I place element in my visu and use Reference property to link variable or set the value. In that case the value of string is not transferred to general text list for translation as I mentioned before. Do I have to all properties which influence behavior of my element create in Frame configuration instead? What´s the difference to the Interface editor? Thanks a lot. M.

Hello, I am trying to control shift registers 74HC596 and 74HC165 via Raspberry PI with SPI interface. So far I did it with a Microcontroller and now I wanna upgrade my Projekt with Raspberry Pi and Codesys Software to be more flexible. I tried to adapt PiFace Function Block to just send or recive a 8 bit via SPI interface of the my Raspberry Pi. With following code (see attached screenshots) * PLC_PRG * PiFaceDigital * PiFaceDigital.write8 * PiFaceDigital.read8 I have a signal at SCK and MOSI pin of the PI, so far so good. But I really struggle with the unterstanding of the code. Is there some detailed description of each line of code? Or is there somebody in the community who can explain each line of code? Or is there a more simple way to send / recive 8 bit via SPI? Manuel

Hi, so far I have only used one com port - built-in interface in RPi - RS232 (dev/serial0) as COM1 in Codesys, and my CODESYControl_User.cfg have congiuration like below: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile=/dev/serial portnum := COM.SysCom.SYS_COMPORT1 Actually I added to my Rpi Hat with 2xRS232 (SPI). - /dev/spidev0.0 and /dev/spidev0.1 How I should change my CODESYControl_User.cfg file to use added porta as COM2 and COM3 in Codesys ?

Hello everyone, I am trying to change dynamically by code the IP address of a Weidmuller controller. So I am basically using IoDrvEthernet library to use UpdateConfiguredIPSettings function but I am getting constantly the 'INVALID_STATE' error. Even though I am following a procedure it should work: * First I added on the config file of codesys the following: [SysSocket] Adapter.0.Name="eth0" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 Adapter.1.Name="eth1" Adapter.1.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 * Secondly I am first disabling the ethernet interface by using Ethernet_0.Enable = FALSE and then executing DED.Reconfigure. I have an IPC with 2 ethernet ports and 1 Wi-Fi. I'm using ModbusTCP with the ethernet port named "enp2s0" connected to my remote I/O. This works fine when testing with Python and also works with CODESYS, but CODESYS is only able to scan for the Linux SoftPLC when I turn off the "enp2s0" interface. In other words, I can't get online with the IDE if I want my ModbusTCP comms to run with CODESYS. I'm using a Linux SoftPLC that has the following entry in CODESYSControl.cfg, hoping that this will allow me to connect with "enp1s0" or "wlp3s0", and leave "enp2s0" for field comms, but this seems to only make the source IP of the ModbusTCP comms to be bound to "enp2s0". That last point is the case only if I don't restart the service, but if I do restart the service after changing the config file, the source IP for the ModbusTCP comms then becomes the one for "enp1s0", which is very confusing to me: [SysSocket] Adapter.0.Name="enp2s0" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 On the device list, I only have "enp2s0" given as the ethernet device that has the ModbusTCP master & slave beneath it, shown in Screenshot 1. On the IPC, I can ping the ModbusTCP client (remote I/O) from "enp2s0", and I've attached a Wireshark capture of running ModbusTCP from the CODESYS runtime as Screenshot 2, 3 & 4 (again, I can't get online when this is running, I have to turn off "enp2s0" to connect even when it's idle and I don't have an active TCP session with my Python tests). Like I explained above, the source IP is "enp1s0", even though the ethernet device on the project is "enp2s0". I was lucky to catch the red message that showed the source IP that makes sense to me (the one for "enp2s0"), but for some reason that connection was reset and I never saw that packet again. I've also tried this with Auto-reconnect both enabled & disabled, for the ModbusTCP Master device. I also have to turn off "enp1s0" and then turn it on, just so that I can have the ModbusTCP comms running from "enp2s0" (which is not intuitive in any way to me, I'd love some help understanding that phenomenon as well) in the weird manner that I've described above. I would be very appreciative if someone can help me figure out this pickle. I'd love to just connect to CODESYS through my Wi-Fi interface and leave my ethernet ports for field comms.

Hello community, I just want to inform you about our plans and the current status of automating the build process for CODESYS libraries. So it might be helpful for some people who are in the same situation. Background story: I am a software engineer at powerIO GmbH, normally I use high level languages for the products we develop and offer. Sometimes I work with my team on CODESYS libraries, which can also be found in the CODESYS store. Most of the time I spend with them on architecture tasks and tasks that are not directly related to our products. Every time I see the manual processes for releasing a library etc., I am very surprised about this time intensive process. Current situation: I know there has been a scripting interface for years. CODESYS Git was released a few years ago, but the scripting interface was only released a few months (weeks?) ago. We developed a pseudo-automated solution a few months ago, but it was all very hacky. So now there is a better Git implementation and also more modularization and installation options. For example, the CODESYS installer has a full CLI, which makes it very convenient to install CODESYS installations headless. Plans: I think it's the right time to develop a better automation solution. Most of our software projects are hosted on Github and we use Github actions very intensively for other software projects. Therefore, we have decided to use Github for our CODESYS library projects as well. Following tasks should be implemented in automation for CI/CD tasks: - Automated setup of CODESYS installation (Already released: https://github.com/marketplace/actions/setup-codesys-installation) - Checkout CODESYS libraries - Execute tests scripts - Sign CODESYS libraries - Extract Library documentation - Create CODESYS package - Sign CODESYS package Side Note: - This is mainly a side project, and we do not provide support for the CI/CD part. - This topic is here to help and also to get help from other software engineers. - This project and idea is not prioritized as I am currently the only one working on it and I hope it will help us and also others and increase productivity. - We are putting this out there as an organization, but priorities can change quickly and the CI/CD tasks I am developing are mostly done in my spare time. So please don't expect this to happen in a short time or even be fully completed. I would be very happy if some ppl will join the development process and might be open to discuss some technical details for this. I hope this topic is not to off-topic, but I think the CI/CD part is very important today and it can increase a lot of quality and push productivity. Thanks :)

I have several libraries which contain values that should be saved on a PLC. As apparently no Persistent Variable List is available within Libraries, I use the Persistence Manager to create a Persistence Channel in the Project which imports the library. I then specify the persistence channel in the library using the {attribute 'ac_persist':='PersistenceChannel_CT'} specifier. This generally works very well and gives me exactly the properties I require. However, it came to my attention that the (alphabetially) first value from the library is not saved in the created ASCII file. When checking the content of the Persistence Channel, it shows all the variables as defined in the library. But the created file does not contain the first value and it is not restored after restart or reset. (see attached picture) I disabled Periodic Saving and set xSaveOnChange to TRUE and so the file usually updates immediately after changing one of the values. When changing the first value, it does not update which is consistent with this value not being saved. I also created a sample project and library from scratch which shows the same issue both using a Raspberry Pi and using a Linux machine. Does someone know what the reason for this could be or did someone make similar experiences? Looking forward to hearing your suggestions. Thanks in advance and best wishes Manuel

Hi everyone, I just created a very simple library without any code and, added it to my very simple project. after adding this library, I get an error when I try to open "Symbol Set" in "OPC UA Server" in "Communication Manager". Here is the code of my POU in the library: FUNCTION_BLOCK POU VAR eCommand : (CMD_NONE:=0, CMD_RESET:=-1) INT := CMD_NONE; END_VAR Attached is the error that I get. I also noticed that by removing the enumeration variable above (eCommand), I can open the "Symbol Set" again. Anybody has any idea why this error is raised and how could I use enumeration variables without error in "OPC UA Symbol Set"?

Um eine C-Library als Codesys Bibliotheksfunktion zu erstellen, bin ich den fünf Videoanleitungen von https://de.codesys.com/news-events/gut-zu-wissen.html gefolgt. Das funktioniert auch am Anfang gut, ich kann unter x86-Linux und RasPi-Linux auch die C-Libraries kompilieren. Wenn ich dann die Library aber wie in Video 4 gezeigt in der Codesys-Bibliothek verknüpfen möchte, (siehe Screenshot) bekomme ich schon bei Auswahl der Datei und auch danach bei Klick auf "Geräte auswählen" den Fehler "Der Dateiname sollte mit dem Bibliotheksnamensraum enden." angezeigt. Meine *.so Datei endet aber meinem Verständnis nach mit dem richtigen Namen analog zum Beispiel und wie es auch in meinem Projekt heißt. Mir ist unklar, was mir diese Fehlermeldung anderes sagen will. Hat jemand eine Erklärung? (Codesys V3.5 SP 20 + (64-bit))

Hi, I had some issues as well migrating to the new version. What I have learnt: - Have to check all the libraries in the library manager, if they are the proper versions. - Some other parts of the application, maybe an old library referenced by another one can keep the old Ethercat libraries.... Use the "Placeholders" function on the library manager - See if there is a new version available of the slave "devices". Might just have to update them ... I had problems moving from 4.7 to with 4.8, especially with the 2nd adapter for redundancy - some devices failed to initialize properly.... So I have just downgraded those libraries now. P.

Hi, I assume that you have a Pfc200 G2 or something and work with the original WAGO runtime. Then I would recommend the WagoSysDynamicIoMapping. Here in the example projects there is a PDF file for the library: https://downloadcenter.wago.com/learning-material/details/ll0w3pmdunzvem83g1 There is a global functional component in a GVL of the library. I think it's called DynKbusIoManager or something. The active terminals are registered there. Then there are filter Fb's for e.g. the first clamp with a specific article number. Everything is in the PDF.

This is a known bug in e!Cockpit. See Release notes of V 1.11: 1 e!Cockpit Release Version 1.11 (2022-07) ATTENTION: If a library that uses asynchronous tasks (e.g. WagoAppConfigTool, WagoAppCloud or function modules such as Dali-Master) is dragged into the project, the simulation cannot be started. It is already sufficient to add the library to the project (an FB does not even have to be instantiated). I guess you are using one of these libraries/modules in your project. We e.G. often use PWM modules, these are also affected.

Hi everybody, I am looking for a solution to send files, for example, to an ftp or a cloud. I can't use oscat library because 64 bit controller are not supported. Therefore, I see that the IIoT library has some functions that might help me to implement this sending process in codesys. Does anyone have any examples of how to do this? Hi, I'm creating a program where I need to handle arrays, like: - Declare lenght variable arrays - [array(1..var) of "sometype"]. This is not possible in pure codesys, right? - Know array lenght, min, max, avg values in runtime - append/delete itens in an array - and so on Is there a library know for this in codesys. Is it possible to build our own libraries using some high level language like python or java script?

The message means that you (CODESYS) tries to open the function block, but this is not possible because the library which contains the FB is compiled. You either get this when you try to manually open the function block (while editing the application), but it could also happen that an exception occurs in the running application and CODESYS tries to show the location where it occured. If it happened in an FB of the compiled library, it cannot show this and you could get this message too.

Hello, I use the Library NBS from "caa net base services". After opening the Project i get 19 errors from the message window "Precompilation", most of them because it doesn't recognise a component of the FB "NBS.UD_Peer". (see photo) After compiling the Project at least 2 times, there are no errors. Is there a reason and solution for this behavior? Is there a problem with resolving the library? Thanks for any clue

Hi everyone, I’m working on implementing continuous movement in Codesys, but I've run into some trouble. I've tried using ALL SM3 Basic and SML without success. I’m specifically looking for a library that supports continuous updates and can fetch values from a server in real time. Does anyone know of a library or approach that fits these requirements? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! i read plcopen documentaion as well as codesys Thank you!
