You should not use the "open dialog" to change the value. Instead use the input configuration "Write Variable" to change a variable value in the visualization. in the setting of this input command, you can choose the Input type (select dialog).

Does anybody know how to get a specific text from a text list within a program. Obviously it works in a visualization, but because I will have an HMI that has it's own system and I will have to send variables to this HMI via an OPC UA connection, I need to be able to get a text into a string. I tried using the VisuElems like this, but it only returns an empty "" and nothing else. Try setting up your project environment. You can do this under Project -> Project Environment -> Press Button "Set all to newest". You have set your compiler, devices, etc in this project to the newest available versions.

Hello all, First post. I recently acquired an RPI zero W from amazon, and have been using it with Codesys v3.5 SP19 patch 2. I first got it working yesterday, and after installing the runtime on the Pi, I was prompted to install the edge gateway. Installation of the edge gateway failed because of unsupported architecture, undeterred I was able to connect to the pi and program as I wanted. The issue I've noticed is that if I do not load anything to the pi overnight, I can then no longer connect to the pi and download, although I can still ping it from my pc. I found that if I power cycle the PI, I am then able to connect again, and it works as normal. I did some googling and found instances where people recommended downloading the newest edge gateway, which brings me here. Wondering if there are any suggestions, or if this is a known issue. I actually tried installing all 3 versions of edge gateway for science, but all fail with the same message. Thanks -Dan

Hello! I have tried read a file to the string variable. But I faced a problem - there is about 2800 bytes of information in file, but string have a limit 2393 bytes. I made two variables with same address (for automatic convertion) - string[3000] and array of bytes[1..3000]. And I noticed that array of bytes contains all information from file, but string shows only first 2393 bytes. So I have lost information. Is there really such a limitation? Or I have an error in my program and Codesys 2.3 have no limit for such kind of conversation between string and array of bytes? Thank you very much!

Hi all, for a deeper understanding of the Codesys RTE - I created a simple application with 3 IEC tasks (Ta,Tb,Tc) each with different priorities, and different cycle times. The application runs on Windows 10 in the Soft PLC CODESYS Control Win V3. If my understanding is correct, the RTE i.e. the Process CodesysControlService should spawn 3 threads (Th_a,Th_b,Th_c) which are executed with the defined cycle times, the priority of the threads should reflect the priority of the task set in the Codesys IDE. Does somebody have an idea, how I could identify the respective threads in Windows? Kind regards Andrej

I am running a runtime environment on an ARM A35 dual-core processor (1.5GHz) and have encountered some issues. The CPU load (both CPU0 and CPU1) occasionally spikes above 50% before returning to normal, and this happens around 2-3 times per minute. At the same time, I’ve noticed that the Max Cycle Time in the Codesys monitoring screen shows much worse performance compared to the A53 (1.2GHz), with nearly double the cycle time. The optimizations I have made so far are as follows: Set the CPU to performance mode. Isolated CPUs: CPU0 is dedicated to running Linux services and the runtime itself, while CPU1 runs the EtherCAT task and the MainTask. Despite CPU1 only running these two tasks, the utilization still increases above 50%, which I find unreasonable. Additionally, I performed tests using cyclictest both without and with the runtime running. The performance is shown in the following image: From the results, I believe the CPU performance should be fine, but I am unsure why the monitoring results are not as expected. The testing outcomes should ideally be as close as possible to the cyclictest results. Does anyone have related solutions to this issue?

For the DynamicText error i have finally found a solution. You have to delete some libraries from your project. For me it was the WagoSysIcon library which wanted to reference dynamictexts even though i didn't have any in my project.

I would figure out, how to create a simple html webpage with 2 frames. One frame with buttons to select the plc. A second frame with hyperlink to the webvisu of the plc ("XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:8080/webvisu.htm"). Selecting other PLC Button has to change the hyperlink in 2. frame. Costs only some time to figure out :-) Or setup a raspberry Pi with small visualization. Set up a button for each plc and add one browser element. Each button writes the URL of the depending plc to the URL setting of the browserelement. Costs 55€ for runtime licence and a Raspberry Pi.

Hi, I have the same problem. Some of the libraries I created over time depend on writing files to a folders like c:\Temp. I can confirm that proposed solution is not working with 3.5.20 Patch 2. Hello Everyone, The "Auto Declare" window disappears by itself in the Ladder editor. For example, a new function block is wanted to be added to the Ladder editor. (For example; MC_Jog block and instance name will be fbMcJog). To do this, "Empty box with EN/ENO" is added to the ladder line from the Toolbox on the right and when you type MC_Jog in the empty box and press enter, normally the "Auto Declare" window appears and you are expected to be asked to write the instance name here. However, this "Auto Declare" window closes itself immediately, it does not wait for the user to enter a value or close the window. I often encounter this situation in many IDE versions. Does this seem like a bug? If anyone has encountered a similar problem while creating a new program name, function or function block instance name regarding the "Auto Declare" window and knows a solution, I would be glad if you could share it.
