Yep sure, though now that i think of it, its a pi 4. My bad. The whole ordeal was necessary to use the VGA666 adapter. That needs the old graphical system and GPIO directly on the CPU. Edit: Putty on the virtual development machine connects fine. But i did change the login/pw. The account is still a sudo'er so that should be all right. Edit2: Sorry i get a "Comment rate limit exceeded" from the forum. Then i'll add it as edit here. So i have tried the stock raspberry pi image on a different pi5 (truly 5 this time). Packages updated. Standard password. Same symptoms, no runtime deployed and long hang time. It seems that running CODESYS virtualized somehow messes with the deployment?

Hi, If I utilise an EtherCat master with a Beckhoff EK1100 coupler on a Win10x64 target I get a "Network Adaptor could not be opened" error. I have tried this on both a VM and a physical PC. Has anyone experienced this issue? Regards Trevor

The individual structures were declared in a separate global variable list on a trial basis. But even this did not change the behavior. A total of 1667 variables are processed in a recipe. A reduction (e.g. saving only the first three drive parameter sets) also brought no change.

Is it possible to show a variable from a Frame Configuration in a Trace on that Visualization? I want to pass the FB for an AXIS_REF_ETC_SoE_Standard to the visualization and display live axis data in the visualization. However, I cannot find a way to use a Frame Configuration variable in the Trace Configuration dialog.

I have noticed on the standard numpad dialog, if a user enters a purely decimal number (ie '.6'), the numpad will not accept the value but gives no indication. One must type a leading zero (ie '0.6') in order for it to work. Is there a way to correct this so that a user can just type the decimal value?

With the sample project open, right click on the Raspberry Pi device and update to whatever you are using (SL, MC, 64b). Enable I2C on the PI. You can jumper the hats Analog Outputs to Inputs and see it function on the Web Visualization. Very Cool! I spent quite a bit of time trying to find this solution so hopefully this update helps others. My goal is to re-platform an existing PLC application written in 61131 ST I've got the majority of the code/variables in a compilable form - excluding all the IO and comms nuances I am not sure whether this the right forum An important functionality which I implemented on the other platform was totally dynamic modbus devices... Most configurations I have come across impose static MB configs in which all configured devices MUST be present and functional... I have monkeyed around with MB enough to know that herding a half dozen MB cats into a working config can be tricky. I just do them one at a time and dynamically turn them on/off in whatever combination is convenient with ID, IP, baud, parity etc being runtime tweakable. I am totally curious whether this is possible with codesys, or whether its device configuration corrals one into a static cage which requires re-building the code to support flexible variations. I have a Hmi that acts as an interface for many (mostly identical) units. This is managed by a sort of "mux" where you select which unit that should be presented on the HMI. Backbone is solved by a HMI-gvl defined as reference/pointer to "unit-data", which then can be set to the individual units. While this works for most data I still have not sorted how to solve this for the trend recordings. One solution would be to have already "mux:ed" data values as source for the/one trend. However then the trend would contain data from different units/sources which could/will cause confusion. If its possible to "clear" this can be mitigated. Possibly let the trend have its own "mux-selector" (ie, the hmi are focusing on unit#3 however trend data is locked on unit#5), that could also work.. Or, let each unit have its own trend recording, which is focused if the unit is "selected". Can I reach the trend recording objects programmatically (those defined in the device tree)? Ie, can I use a "reference/pointer to these trend recording objects"? There is a field "data source" in the trend properties dialog which seems to resemble what Im looking for? But Im not sure if I can use it in some way, I cannot change anything in this field it only says <local application="">. </local>

Hey, I'm pretty new to CoDeSys so I don't know a lot of things yet. I have to create a connection between two devices (CANbus - J1939 connection). The idea for now is to send a message from one to another (one operates on 3.5 SP11 the other one on 2.3) I watched a few videos, worked with the documentation and worked with chatGPT 4o and was able to build the attached file. This part is about the device on 3.5.11: I'm using the J1939LocalECUDiag, TransmitParameterGroup, TransmissionTrigger Function blocks to send the message but my TransmitPG.xBusy / .xDone never turns to True and therefore my message is not sent while TransmitPG.xExcecute is True. I added the two devices in the CANbus in the J1939Manager and addapted the options like I've seen in the documentation. Can anyone explain what's wrong with my code in this casse or give me advices how to properly create a connection between my two devices? Thanks in advance!

max. string length in Codesys is 255 chars. It's not possible to cram 20,000 things in a string. If you need to send the data to another device, send the whole data[] array (as byte array, without doing anything to it) and extract the information on the other end. As each struct member has a fixed size (81 bytes, as per you declaration), this will be easy. To save some resources, consider declaring string lengths - e.g. if the max possible length for key is 10 chars, declare it key: STRING(10); and it will occupy 11 bytes instead of 81

In a recent project with SoftMotion 4.15.0.0, where I integrated two SD drives from CMZ (from catalogue EDS and not imported), on CANopen bus, I found that the SoftMotion MC_Reset function does not reset the drive faults. Even if the drive is in fault, either on the device or on the drive at the CoDeSys level, the function does not reset, instead reporting the error code: no error to reset. Finally, I had to connect the reset bit of the ControlWord directly to a tag in my program. Something I never had to do on other drives: Lexium, etc. all reset simply with MC_Reset.

However I feel main documentation is lacking. For example, where can I find that object has "is_device" attribute? Of course I need to remove check: if treeobj.is_device: But simply removing this test condition will not produce what I want. Hi, I’m currently managing over 50 PLCs running Codesys version 3.5.18.60. At seemingly random intervals, some of these devices experience a failure where: All persistent variables are lost. Attempting to log in results in the message: “The application does not exist on device. Do you want to create it and proceed with download?” The log shows: “Loading retain-data/bootproject failed.” From what I’ve gathered, this may be due to a corrupted persistent data file, but I’m not entirely sure how to confirm or resolve this issue. If anyone has encountered something similar or has suggestions for troubleshooting or preventing this, I would greatly appreciate your input. Best regards

We are able to see the log data as the status of triggering the SCS from Client received to the Log data of the codesys device(attached screen shot of it) and in simulator panel we had set the details to trigger the data from Redisant to Codesys. Current Status: The project builds and runs successfully, but I need guidance on how to connect this to an external IEC-104 simulator for testing and visualization by using demo mode.

Thank you very much for your time and replay! Sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately, I have no other option to run the code from the running plc. So, I can’t stop any services. If anyone has the same problem, I've gotten a little closer to understanding it: Sometimes the copied files are empty after the restart. The update code checks if there are any empty files. Before I turn off the device, everything is okay. But after starting, some files are suddenly empty and that cause the problems. I don't know why this happens.

Dear All, This is regarding Codesys Virtual control SL demo version. I am facing one issue. First I will describe the steps what I have followed till now. 1. In a PC I have Windows OS. Here Codesys IDE is installed, and also using the installer option of IDE I have also installed Codesys Virtual control SL. 2. A edge-gateway is also running in the same windows PC as local host. 3. Next I have a seperate PC with Ubuntu OS with docker installed. This machine is in the same network. 4. Now I have created a project in Windows machine using device "Codesys Virtual control SL". 5. In the Ubuntu machine I am running the Codesys Virtual control SL as docker and it is using the ubuntu machine network only. 6. Next using the localhost edge-gateway when I am searching the virtual control SL docker it is able to detect it. (screenshot attached) 7. But after creating the creadentials it is telling No Device is responding. 8. I have also checked the wireshark logs and able to see that in destination port 11740 data is coming. 9. From windows PC telnet ip 11740 is also working. 10. We have a few different communications set up as shown below: One Modbus TCP Slave Connection - ( Sending / Receiving Data from a PC ) Two Modbus TCP Master Connection - ( Reading Data from a UPS Panel and Reading Data Gas Chromatograph) One Modbus RTU Slave Connection 485 - (Reading Data from a fire and gas panel) One Modbus RTU Master Connection 485 - (Sending Data to a Telemetry Unit) All Licenses have been installed as per OPTO22 suggestions of the order below: Modbus TCP Master Modbus TCP Slave Modbus RTU Master Modbus RTU Slave When I check on License manager the RTU Master license seems to disappear on installing the RTU. (What ever reason I’ve been told this is “normal”). If I use Device License Read It will successfully read all the licenses correctly. Now the issue is every 2 hours and between 4. For what ever reason the communications seems to end and lock up for about 20 seconds. During this time even if I was logged into the PLC it would kick me off and I’d have to re type the password to enter. Most of the devices can handle this however the RTU flags up a communications failure at the SCADA and is raising alarms every 2 hours and 4 mins. We’ve had multiple people go through the code to check for anything obvious. Does anyone have any ideas?
