CODESYS Forge

Good morning, I'm new on Codesys Forge, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to talk about my problem. When I open my WebVisu pages with Microsoft Edge, or Chrome, the background and also some rectangles blinking without reason!!! The application is developed with Codesys 3.5.17.10 and run on Codesys HMI, same version (3.5.17.10). After several experiments I discover that the problem happens when I made dynamic the "End of area" property of a meter object, but I can't understand why this blinking problem happens. Also, the problem is only at the WebVisu page, the "normal" VISU pages (the ones opened when Codesys HMI start) work always perfectly. Another strange thing is that the problem happens only if on the same page, where there is the meter object, there is also a trend object!?!? Codesys HMI is running on a Virtual Machine (VMware Workstation 15 player, v.15.5.6) running Windows 10 Pro N 64-bit. The blinking problem happen also if I convert the project to Codesys 3.5.20.0. This version of Codesys and Codesys HMI are installed on a Virtual Machine running Windows Server 2019 Standard 64-bit. In attachment the archive of my project. The attached project has only one page, if "Enable Counter" is not pressed the "End of area" variable of the meter is not updated in the software, and everything work well, normal VISU and WebVisu; if "Enable Counter" is pressed, the "End of area" variable of the meter is updated in the software, and the WebVisu page start blinking. I tried also to enable the "Support client animations and overlay..." property at VisualizationManager, this seems stop the blinking problem, but that property also destroy my WebPage, moving almost all the graphical object, that also seem not working anymore. I really need help to understand what I'm doing wrong, I have to develop a bigger project and I have to understand if trend objects and animated meters cannot stay in the same page. In the final project the WebVisu will be very important because the customer will use this way to access the application to monitor the process. Regards

Hello, I’m working on implementing Modbus RTU communication with a Carel controller (CPCO). I want to use the front RS485 interface through the DB9 connector. The issue is that I can’t get the communication working correctly. Below are the steps I’ve done so far: Connected pins 3 and 8 from the DB9 connector to the +/- RX/TX terminals on the Carel side. In the PLC shell, I set serialmode to RS485. In WBM under Administration > Serial Interface > Assign owner of serial interface, I set the port to unassigned. In the device tree, I created Modbus_COM with the following settings: COM port: 1 Baud rate: 19200 Parity: None Stop bits: 1 Created a Modbus client on this COM interface in RTU mode. Under the status tab, I can see it is in running state. On the client, I created a Modbus server and set the Modbus address of my unit to 1. Defined a few channels as FC03 to read holding registers according to the Carel register map. I checked the communication with the Carel controller using a USB-to-RS485 converter connected to my PC, and communication works correctly there. In the status tab, I can see that the Modbus server is polling, but there is no response from the controller. I also tried multiple times swapping A/B lines on the Carel side, but it did not help. Do you have any suggestions on what else I should check?

What variable of the axis indicates it is a modulo of finite axis? I want to check that in the code, to adopt my motion code between the two types.

Post by xgongx on What is the insights of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow?
CODESYS Forge
talk
(Post)
It is well known that you need to increase the value of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow to solve the "Fieldbus lost synchronicity" issue. In the official document, IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow is explained as the toleration of a certain jitter. But the official document doesn't explain what kind of the jitter is. Is it the jitter of DC sync deviation, master timer or something else? It is very important to know the insights of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow. For example, if it is the toleration of DC sync deviation, and the official recommending value is 200us for CODESYS SoftMotion. It means maximum of DC sync deviation is 200us. It is unacceptable for some high precision motion control tasks, for example high speed gear task, etc. Increasing the value of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow will increase the deviation of motor rotation sync if it is the toleration of DC sync deviation. So, would anyone tell me what the insights of IoDrvEtherCAT.DCInSyncWindow is? Thanks.

You can download the missing libraries by clicking on the "Download Missing Libraries" button. However, if you were unaware of this and accidentally downloaded the latest version of the library from the Library Repository, you may need to uninstall it first to avoid conflicts.

Post by alexgooi on OPC-UA and other communication questions
CODESYS Forge
talk
(Post)
Dear forum, I currently have a big question mark above my head, and maybe this forum can shine some light on the situation. I recently updated to Codesys 3.15 SP19 Patch 6. And now I’m trying to setup the OPC-UA server, besides that I’m trying to connect to the controller with the Codesys V3 (Ethernet) protocol. OPC-UA I have installed the correct licenses on my controller (Runtime and communication). I’m able to connect to the controller with an OPC-UA client, and I’m able to browse the tags, so far so good. Therefore I’m assuming that the OPC-UA server is running on the controller. But now the strange part, in the device security settings I have set the communication Policy to BASCI256SHA256 ( I also have tried the other ones) and the communication mode is set to secure if possible (I also have tried all the other ones) (see picture). With these settings I would assume that I would only be able to login with a Basic256SHA256 policy with a client. But the opposite is true, I am able to login using the no policy mode and when I set it to Basic256SHA256 the client (UA-Expert) notes that this policy is not available on the server. I then check the certificates and I noted that there is no certificate for the OPC-UA server, I tried to generate one but it gave the error that the certificate has not been created by the device (See picture). To summarize I have no clue what is going on, and the controller does the opposite of what I would expect. Codesys Ethernet V3 driver I have a HMI connected to the same controller using the Ethernet V3 driver. But this will not connect. I tried all the Protocols (see picture), with and without the username and password enabled. But it will not connect, when I scan the available servers I can see the controller with the port number that I am expecting, so I’m assuming that the Codesys V3 ethernet driver is up on the controller. Does anyone can give me some direction, because the stuff that I tried doesn’t make sense to me. Thank you in advance

(Post)
Solution: Disable VISU_USEPROPERTYINFO define Go to Project → Options (or Project → Properties, depending on your CODESYS version). Find the section called Compiler Defines. Look for the define: nginx Copy Edit VISU_USEPROPERTYINFO Delete it from the list, or uncheck it if it’s a checkbox. Save your changes and try compiling the project again. → This is the right approach if you don’t need property handling for visualization elements.

It is a known issue. It only happens with CODESYS and Wago controllers and the Persistent Variables. It seems related to using 64 bit variables in the PV list (e.g. LREAL). Internally in the PLC everything works okay. It is just a monitoring issue.

I am currently investigating an OPC UA PubSub connection over UDP. When I don't use encryption, the publish and subscribe are working correctly. But with encryption it does not. Environment OPC UA PubSub SL 1.3.0.0 (namespace UADP) OPC UA PubSub Security 1.3.0.0 (namespace PSS) OPC UA PubSub Base 1.3.0.0 (namespace PSB, incl. PSS.SecurityGroup / PSS.CONFIG) Programmatic PubSub in a CFC: UADP.Configuration → UADP.Connection → UADP.writerGroup → UADP.writer → writerDataSet, plus a CyclicCall gated by xEnable. Goal: publish secured UADP, SignAndEncrypt, policy PubSub-Aes256-CTR. What I do (one-shot, before xEnable := TRUE): fbSecurityGroup.SetInitialValue( 'http://opcfoundation.org/UA/SecurityPolicy#PubSub-Aes256-CTR', PSB.SECURITY.SIGNING_AND_ENCRYPTION); stSecurityCfg := fbSecurityGroup.GetConfig(eErrorID => eError); // eError=NO_ERROR, udiEncryptionKeySize=32 eError := fbSecurityGroup.SetSecurityKeys(udiTokenId, ADR(abyKey), SIZEOF(abyKey), 2436001000); // eError=NO_ERROR, SIZEOF=68 // writerGroup.itfSecurityGroup := fbSecurityGroup -- set in the WriterGroup block's Parameters (a per-scan code write got overwritten) What I verified eError = NO_ERROR after both GetConfig and SetSecurityKeys; udiEncryptionKeySize = 32. Key length = 68 bytes (signing 32 ‖ encrypt 32 ‖ nonce 4). itfSecurityGroup is set via the WriterGroup's Parameters (so it isn't clobbered each scan). Init runs before xEnable (the writer doesn't run with xEnable=FALSE). The UADP.writerGroup FB exposes only itfSecurityGroup for security — no SecurityMode/MessageSecurityMode property. Result: the published datagrams are still plaintext — ExtendedFlags1 = 0x01 (security bit 0x10 clear), no security header: b1 01 29 00 0f 16 00 … (PublisherId 41, WriterGroupId 22, RawData, no security) Questions With UADP.writerGroup, is assigning a configured + keyed PSS.SecurityGroup to itfSecurityGroup sufficient to enable message security, or is there an additional step/property/method to switch the WriterGroup to SignAndEncrypt? At what point in the WriterGroup lifecycle is itfSecurityGroup read? Must it be assigned/keyed before xActive, and does the group need a stop→start to pick it up? Is there a required call order, and does SetSecurityKeys need to be called once or repeatedly? Should security be configured on the Connection/Configuration level rather than (or in addition to) the WriterGroup? Is there a working example of secured (SignAndEncrypt) programmatic UADP publishing with this library, or a known limitation in 1.3? How can I read back at runtime whether security is actually active (via itfDiagnostics or similar)? Additional information I can confirm that the consumer side works — i.e. a standard subscriber decrypts the same keys fine — so the keys/profile aren't the issue. To search for an exact phrase, put it in quotes. Example: "getting started docs"
To exclude a word or phrase, put a dash in front of it. Example: docs -help
To search on specific fields, use these field names instead of a general text search. You can group with AND or OR.
