Hello, I am using codesys Modbus TCP client (4.4.0.0) to communicate with a python modbus server (package pyModbusTCP). I first start my python server on the distant machine. After a fresh codesys compilation, a plc connection/transfer and a PLC run, the modbus connection is OK. Every time in this context the connection is created correctly. When I shut down the server, the modbus connection falls, that is normal. When I restart the python server, impossible to recreate the modbus connexion. With the client autoreconnection, I see on my server that the client tries to connect but unsuccesfully. I have the following message : DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:accept new connection from ClientInfo(address='192.168.1.20', port=33476) DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:Exception during request handling: NetworkError('recv return null') I tried to stop the codesys client and to restart it with these commands : Modbus_TCP_Client.xStop := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Client.Enable := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Server.Enable := True; // Or False I tried to confirm the error manually to force reconnection with: Modbus_TCP_Server_Motors.xConfirmError := TRUE; I tried also this command to STOP/RESET/START client and server (codesys side) but nothing happens : status_client := Modbus_TCP_Client.SetCommunicationState(eRequestedState := DED.DEVICE_TRANSITION_STATE.STOP); // .RESET & .START The answer of this function when executed is "status_client = NOT_SUPPORTED" It seems that is a socket problem, but I do not understand if it is on the client or server side. I tried a modbus simulator called "ananas.exe" and the result is the same. Impossible to get a modbus reconnection. What is different at the first connection and at a reconnection attempt ? Yep sure, though now that i think of it, its a pi 4. My bad. The whole ordeal was necessary to use the VGA666 adapter. That needs the old graphical system and GPIO directly on the CPU. Edit: Putty on the virtual development machine connects fine. But i did change the login/pw. The account is still a sudo'er so that should be all right. Edit2: Sorry i get a "Comment rate limit exceeded" from the forum. Then i'll add it as edit here. So i have tried the stock raspberry pi image on a different pi5 (truly 5 this time). Packages updated. Standard password. Same symptoms, no runtime deployed and long hang time. It seems that running CODESYS virtualized somehow messes with the deployment?

Hello, currently im working with a RevPi connect 5 on a codesys project. Up until now I was having a blast because things were going really smooth but for like almost a day im kind of stuck on the integration of multiple profinet sensors into my project. This is kind of a bummer because that should be an easy thing to do. What I tried so far was to create and additional ethernet adapter where I then tried to connect my devices. in the beginning I tried to connect the devices directly which was not working because I could assign the IP-adress only to the ethernet adapter and not to the devices but the device was found in the device repository (this gets important in the second part) So what I tried next was to setup a PN-Controller and connect my devices subsequently to the Controller. Sadly now the devices wont show up in the device repository anymore. To me its not clear why this is happening. And the worst thing is: I went ahead and setup a device completely like I would want to have it in the project and when I then click on scan devices I can even find the device. But it can not be added to project for whatever reason eventhough im 100% certain that the gsdml file is the correct one. Can anyone help me with this. Like I said this seems like an easy thing to do and its taking me way longer than expected already. The only thing that came to my mind why this might not work is because I have codesys license which only allows one profinet instance. Could that be the case? The error message seems then pretty unfit but ok. I will be grateful for every advice. Thanks in advance! Best regards!

We have a few different communications set up as shown below: One Modbus TCP Slave Connection - ( Sending / Receiving Data from a PC ) Two Modbus TCP Master Connection - ( Reading Data from a UPS Panel and Reading Data Gas Chromatograph) One Modbus RTU Slave Connection 485 - (Reading Data from a fire and gas panel) One Modbus RTU Master Connection 485 - (Sending Data to a Telemetry Unit) All Licenses have been installed as per OPTO22 suggestions of the order below: Modbus TCP Master Modbus TCP Slave Modbus RTU Master Modbus RTU Slave When I check on License manager the RTU Master license seems to disappear on installing the RTU. (What ever reason I’ve been told this is “normal”). If I use Device License Read It will successfully read all the licenses correctly. Now the issue is every 2 hours and between 4. For what ever reason the communications seems to end and lock up for about 20 seconds. During this time even if I was logged into the PLC it would kick me off and I’d have to re type the password to enter. Most of the devices can handle this however the RTU flags up a communications failure at the SCADA and is raising alarms every 2 hours and 4 mins. We’ve had multiple people go through the code to check for anything obvious. Does anyone have any ideas?

(I'm working on 2 raspberry pi ) The same project compiled for 4.8.0.0 runtime with CodeSys 3.5SP20 is working fine on one target, and on the other one, my UAexpert receives the same "BadIdentityTokenInvalid" and none is working on 4.11.0.0 either ... anybody ?

It should come by default on a normal install of Codesys 2.3, but it's a bit hidden: Like for any other library, go to Resources > library Manager > Right click on list of libraries > Additional library. On the browser that opens, instead of looking in the default folder, use the dropdown menu at the bottom to change the folder (SysLibMem should be on the 3rd folder).

Hi All, Recently I have been experiencing a issue in CodeSys SP16 Patch 3, with a exception which comes up after I have made several online changes. callcallback() iec exception caught cmpid=0x00000002, eventid=0x00010008, after I experience this fault then I receive a error message for any subsequent online change "online change failed, no task gap within 10000ms". To recover either the controller needs a orgin reset, which will allow online edits thereafter until falling back into the loop. I am using a TURCK TX707 product which is controlling robot trajectory, We have hard coded the coordinate data rather than using persistence variables so hence the need to do online changes consistently. I have read on the forum other people have experienced similar issue with the online task gap, but I have no task which have same priority and also monitored the CPU usage and have not seen it go above 13%. Anyones help would be much appreciated, thankyou.

After some more digging I realized that I get an error on the PLC Logger saying PersistenceChannel: 150 (invalid type in data: SimpleLibrary). I tried changing the PersistenceChannel parameters to xCompressTags := FALSE which changed the entry in the data file from _xCompressTags BOOL:TRUE _xCompressTags BOOL:FALSE but the actual content of the data file and also the config data did not change.

Hi guys. I've got a device that sends a status message over J1939 and a PLC running Codesys to receive it. This message uses a P2P PGN (as opposed to a broadcast PGN). Codesys can only read it if I mark the J1939_ECU as "Local" (see screenshot 1). The message is received correctly, that is not the problem. The problem is detecting if the message stops being received. Local ECUs have no Watchdog checkbox to detect if the message has been received in the last X seconds. In order to implement a watchdog, I've used a ReceiveWatchdog FB. The same code works well for any non-P2P message, but doesn't work for this particular P2P message I'm trying to monitor. Even if I physically disconnect the device, ReceiveWatchdog.xBusy stays True, and ReceiveWatchdog.xError never triggers due to a timeout error. Is there any caveat in the ReceiveWatchdog FB that makes it unable to monitor P2P PGNs in Local J1939_ECUs?

Hi everybody, I've been facing problems with the PDF visualization in Web Browser. I am trying to open a pdf file called 'sample.pdf' which I manually saved inside PlcLogic/visu folder. I am setting the web browser URL as: 'http://127.0.0.1:8080/sample.pdf' but I get 'refused connection'. I got a similar error trying to open https sites and I discovered that I can only open http websites. Opening 'http://de.wikipedia.org' everything works fine. I also tried to check using code whether the sample.pdf is present in the directory. Unfortunately, when I try to read directories of 'PlcLogic' I get file FILE_OPERATION_DENIED (I am using File.DirList). I would like to be able to open PDF files in web browser. Possibly to move new PDF files in the folder as my customer wants to display different pdf manuals on the hmi. Here you find some screenshots and my .project. I am using Codesys 3.5.19.70. Hi, I have problem with connecting Wago PLC WAGO 750-8212/0025-0002 configured as OPC UA client to Kepware OPC UA Server. I am using Codesys 3.5.19.70. What I did so far. To the Codesys project I added object Data Source Manager and configured connection OPC UA like below: pic 1 Then I can browse the OPC server tags in “Variables” tab after prior trust on the server side of the client certificate created in the “Communication” tab: pic 2 Additionally second certificate has been created in Codesys for runtime process in “Security screen” as well as the server certificate was approved here: pic 3 But when I compiled project, downloaded it to PLC and go to RUN I can’t read selected in “Variables” tab, OPC Server tags. I am getting such error (ID: 7001): pic 4 All two PLC certificates has been trusted in OPC server (Kepware) side: pic 5 and Kepware server configuration look like this: pic 6 I can easily connect using third party OPC UA client UaExpert to Kepware server without problem. In attachment I added also log from Kepware OPC UA server. pic # - this specifies the number of a concrete graphic from one of the collective in attachment

Hello everyone, I'm hoping for some assistance with a license activation issue: a software crash has left my license in a strange state. Here is the sequence of events: I purchased a new license for the Raspberry PI from the official CODESYS web store. I opened the CODESYS and started the online activation process using the ticket number I received. During the activation, the CODESYS software threw an exception and crashed. I was not able to see if the activation completed. After restarting CODESYS, I attempted to run the activation process again with the same ticket number. The License Manager now gives me an error stating that the ticket has already been activated/used. I am now stuck because my installation is not licensed, but the activation server believes my ticket has been consumed. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a way to have the ticket status reset?

Hi, when it comes about license, I used INVTmatic Studio, which uses Codesys, for programming INVT plc. I bought Codesys Modbus license, it was not expensive, and then realised that INVT didn't have License Manager option (greyed out in program) which is needed for using of Codesys License. I contacted support from INVT, but developers told me that option is still not available. So depending on environment for programming Codesys, you can or not use Modbus license. Good thing about this version of Modbus TCP it works both direction. I could send commands and receive feedbacks from drive. But communication stops after 30 mins. So I used simple version of ethernet modbus which is somewhere in INVT or Condesys library (I can check tomorrow) which works only one way. I could send cmd to drive, and control it, but didn't have any feedback, like some readings back in PLC. which is bad, but at least I could start it and it didn't fail after 30 mins.

Hi everyone. My question about: where I can learn (read or watch) an info about codesys workflow through the system IO libs? I want to know how to implement I/O drivers by my self. In the system libs I see many interfaces, methods etc... But there is no explanation about them, just names of methods and fields of the FBs. I know about this page: https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/ There is so BIG the device description file and not so clear explaining of the attributes and elements, also some elements or attributes missed at it all. Yes, there are code examples on this page, but, so shortly and, for example, code about Modbus drivers is absent. And even if I try to add the IoDrvFB with lib, I get and error, something like: "failed to load IoDrvFB driver". And what about the book of codesys that written by Gary Pratt? Is there information about system libs and drivers in this book more clearly? Thank you :)

I'm having a tough time trying to get Modbus working on a Festo CPX-E PLC; it throws these pre-compiler errors as soon as I add in my Modbus TCP Master 3.5.12.30 to my project: I'm confused about the C0046 error, as I have IODrvModbusTCP 4.3.0.0 Library installed. So I thought maybe I needed to use the newest Modbus TCP Master 4.3.0.0, which is in my device repository: However, whenever I go to add this underneath the Ethernet adapter (which is version 4.2.0.0), the only TCP Master version available is the old 3.5.12.30 one, even if I have Display all versions checked.: I even went so far as to delete the old version, but then there were no options to add a Modbus TCP Master under my Ethernet adapter. What needs to be done to use the newest Modbus TCP Master? Or are these pre-compiler errors unrelated and I'm missing something? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello! Raspberry pi 2b just is getting a bit slow so decided to go for a Raspberry 5. Project is now upgraded to suit Pi 64 SL... so, now although everything runs perfectly... for some reason my trends will not save! its driving me nuts... ^Tried merging tasks with main program & trends ^tried re-prioritizing tasks (shifting 1 - 31 etc) ^Recreated the Trend Recording manager from scratch ^Tried swapping persisitant vars to GVL Retains then non-retains... (Project attached is as per before trial&error) Raspberry Pi 2b still runs "perfectly" though its very chuggy (Still saves the trends, note this is of an pretty much identical project minus the device compatibility) Does anyone have any advice to offer? project attached.... I feel it could be outside of Codesys itself causing the issues, but cant see/find anything on the internet to assist (or anyone else with the same problem as me...) Can attach project in another format (non archive) any assistance is much appreciated!

Hello, I am writing to You with the problem of Profinet communication in my Codesys V2.5 SP21 project working on Codesys Control RTE V3 x64 device. I have implemented multiple Profinet devices in the network, the Profinet itself is configured properly, based on the hardware and software parameters of the industrial PC (Windows 10 IoT). My Profinet network contains such Profinet devices as a robot, IO-Link master with some devices on it, IO modules, safety, vision sensor (the configuration is attached to this topic). Once every few hours, sometimes more often, sometimes not even once a day, the error show up at one, two or a few random modules at the same time, every one is the same: "Station 'xyz': AR aborted by device (alarm.ind): AR consumer DHT expired". The communication is then lost with that module, but it is up instantly. It is not such a problem when it comes to regular IOs, but with safety or rotation table, it causes errors and machine stops. I have tried multiple solution based on any forum suggestions, manuals, etc., but it is still happening. Mabye when I turned on the Watchdog for this communication, it is happening less times, but still, I could not turning up the Watchdog parameters at the expense of cycle time of the process. The same is with Send Clock, Reduction and DHT. I have one of the ethernet port on the PC configured with CmpEt1000Drv driver. The card itself is Intel Ethernet Connection I219-LM. These devices are connected to one EKI-2728-NI-A Profinet switch (it was changed from the standard non Profinet one, but still nothing has changed). As I said ealier, I am attaching all the configurations for each device and the communication itself - if any of You had the same problems or have any ideas what could be the cause, I would be much gratefull for any help. Dear forum, I currently have a big question mark above my head, and maybe this forum can shine some light on the situation. I recently updated to Codesys 3.15 SP19 Patch 6. And now I’m trying to setup the OPC-UA server, besides that I’m trying to connect to the controller with the Codesys V3 (Ethernet) protocol. OPC-UA I have installed the correct licenses on my controller (Runtime and communication). I’m able to connect to the controller with an OPC-UA client, and I’m able to browse the tags, so far so good. Therefore I’m assuming that the OPC-UA server is running on the controller. But now the strange part, in the device security settings I have set the communication Policy to BASCI256SHA256 ( I also have tried the other ones) and the communication mode is set to secure if possible (I also have tried all the other ones) (see picture). With these settings I would assume that I would only be able to login with a Basic256SHA256 policy with a client. But the opposite is true, I am able to login using the no policy mode and when I set it to Basic256SHA256 the client (UA-Expert) notes that this policy is not available on the server. I then check the certificates and I noted that there is no certificate for the OPC-UA server, I tried to generate one but it gave the error that the certificate has not been created by the device (See picture). To summarize I have no clue what is going on, and the controller does the opposite of what I would expect. Codesys Ethernet V3 driver I have a HMI connected to the same controller using the Ethernet V3 driver. But this will not connect. I tried all the Protocols (see picture), with and without the username and password enabled. But it will not connect, when I scan the available servers I can see the controller with the port number that I am expecting, so I’m assuming that the Codesys V3 ethernet driver is up on the controller. Does anyone can give me some direction, because the stuff that I tried doesn’t make sense to me. Thank you in advance
