there are big changes on OS side, so you need latest Runtime version which does even work if you stay on an oder CODESYS version.Especially in Bookworm from December it must be 4.11.0.0 use Bookworm from October

Really good post. I hope that it gets seen by CoDeSys staff. I often find the documentation lacking when it comes to using CoDeSys in more complex ways. If using standard "basic PLC functionality", then it's fine and functions are documented in a sufficient way. Once you go outside of that bubble then I find the documentation not enough. CODESYSControl.cfg is a good example of this. And why isn't more of this integrated in the IDE. like changing port of the webserver. Why is it hidden in this file and not accessible through the IDE. It feels like a layer of complexity purposely left in so you don't change it if you don't know what you are doing. Like the argument is if you have the know-how to find the file you have the know-how to edit it. I find the documentation lacking when it comes to more complex libraries too. Like the element collections library. there is parameters I still don't quite know what they do. I can't find any documentation about them. There is an example project to download from CoDeSys so you can see how you are supposed to set your factories up. I leave some parameters like it is in the example. Should I? I don't know. Does it work. Yes. But I could perhaps create memory leaks if I get something wrong and I don't see that until way later. In the create method of your element factory you have a function called __vfinit and you just have to accept that it works. Why can't I get insight in what it does through documentation? Don't CoDeSys want us to know how these work so we can't use them to accidentally break something? I find the error logging lacking too. I've had the CoDeSys service crash but it doesn't say why. I've seen windows noticing the crash but no error code was sent or error message. Also in my current issue where the application fails to start after power outage. I can see in the log that it fails to load retain in the application as one log entry and application failing to start as another. But why? Why does loading the retain fail? give me more information! Is it just a skill issue with me? I don't know. If it is then I'd still want CoDeSys to step up their game when it comes to documentation. I'm sorry if a lot of frustration comes though in this post. I really like the product and what I can do with it compared to other PLC brands.

Hello, After some more tests, here is what I found out. It seems we have to increase the uiKeepAlive and tPingInterval parameters. If I increase the uiKeepAlive value to 60s and the tPingInterval to 30s, then if I disconnect the ethernet cable from Codesys and publish some messages to which Codesys subscribes to and then reconnect within 30s, I will get the messages. If I don't reconnect the cable within 30s (ping interval), the client goes in error with "ACKNOWLEDGE_TIMEOUT". When this happens, it will not automatically reconnect after reconnecting the cable. I have to disable and re-enable the client but I will not get the published messages. I need to do more tests because there are a lot of weird things happening when playing with the ping interval and the keep alive. It is not clear to me what does what. I even ended up not receiving messages anymore, even if I disabled and re-enabled the mqtt client. The client did not give any error. The only way I was able to get messages again was by modifying my client ID. After that, if I try to re-use one of the old client IDs, nothing works (publish, subscribe) and I get a TCP_INIT_ERROR and sometimes a TCP_READ_ERROR. I need more explanation/documentation about these weird behaviors. Maybe it is the way I use it, maybe it is related to the broker (I am using Mosquitto with default parameters). When using a Node-Red client, everything works perfectly. I am trying to achieve the same behavior with Codesys but it seems impossible so far.

On both version I have this same problem - when I create new standard project with controller Control Win v3 x64, empty PLC program - I compile it and everything is ok. Hello, I am using codesys Modbus TCP client (4.4.0.0) to communicate with a python modbus server (package pyModbusTCP). I first start my python server on the distant machine. After a fresh codesys compilation, a plc connection/transfer and a PLC run, the modbus connection is OK. Every time in this context the connection is created correctly. When I shut down the server, the modbus connection falls, that is normal. When I restart the python server, impossible to recreate the modbus connexion. With the client autoreconnection, I see on my server that the client tries to connect but unsuccesfully. I have the following message : DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:accept new connection from ClientInfo(address='192.168.1.20', port=33476) DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:Exception during request handling: NetworkError('recv return null') I tried to stop the codesys client and to restart it with these commands : Modbus_TCP_Client.xStop := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Client.Enable := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Server.Enable := True; // Or False I tried to confirm the error manually to force reconnection with: Modbus_TCP_Server_Motors.xConfirmError := TRUE; I tried also this command to STOP/RESET/START client and server (codesys side) but nothing happens : status_client := Modbus_TCP_Client.SetCommunicationState(eRequestedState := DED.DEVICE_TRANSITION_STATE.STOP); // .RESET & .START The answer of this function when executed is "status_client = NOT_SUPPORTED" It seems that is a socket problem, but I do not understand if it is on the client or server side. Yep sure, though now that i think of it, its a pi 4. My bad. The whole ordeal was necessary to use the VGA666 adapter. That needs the old graphical system and GPIO directly on the CPU. Edit: Putty on the virtual development machine connects fine. But i did change the login/pw. The account is still a sudo'er so that should be all right. Edit2: Sorry i get a "Comment rate limit exceeded" from the forum. Then i'll add it as edit here. So i have tried the stock raspberry pi image on a different pi5 (truly 5 this time). Packages updated. Standard password. Same symptoms, no runtime deployed and long hang time. It seems that running CODESYS virtualized somehow messes with the deployment?

Hello, currently im working with a RevPi connect 5 on a codesys project. Up until now I was having a blast because things were going really smooth but for like almost a day im kind of stuck on the integration of multiple profinet sensors into my project. This is kind of a bummer because that should be an easy thing to do. What I tried so far was to create and additional ethernet adapter where I then tried to connect my devices. in the beginning I tried to connect the devices directly which was not working because I could assign the IP-adress only to the ethernet adapter and not to the devices but the device was found in the device repository (this gets important in the second part) So what I tried next was to setup a PN-Controller and connect my devices subsequently to the Controller. Sadly now the devices wont show up in the device repository anymore. To me its not clear why this is happening. And the worst thing is: I went ahead and setup a device completely like I would want to have it in the project and when I then click on scan devices I can even find the device. But it can not be added to project for whatever reason eventhough im 100% certain that the gsdml file is the correct one. Can anyone help me with this. Like I said this seems like an easy thing to do and its taking me way longer than expected already. The only thing that came to my mind why this might not work is because I have codesys license which only allows one profinet instance. Could that be the case? The error message seems then pretty unfit but ok. I will be grateful for every advice. Thanks in advance! Best regards!

We have a few different communications set up as shown below: One Modbus TCP Slave Connection - ( Sending / Receiving Data from a PC ) Two Modbus TCP Master Connection - ( Reading Data from a UPS Panel and Reading Data Gas Chromatograph) One Modbus RTU Slave Connection 485 - (Reading Data from a fire and gas panel) One Modbus RTU Master Connection 485 - (Sending Data to a Telemetry Unit) All Licenses have been installed as per OPTO22 suggestions of the order below: Modbus TCP Master Modbus TCP Slave Modbus RTU Master Modbus RTU Slave When I check on License manager the RTU Master license seems to disappear on installing the RTU. (What ever reason I’ve been told this is “normal”). If I use Device License Read It will successfully read all the licenses correctly. Now the issue is every 2 hours and between 4. For what ever reason the communications seems to end and lock up for about 20 seconds. During this time even if I was logged into the PLC it would kick me off and I’d have to re type the password to enter. Most of the devices can handle this however the RTU flags up a communications failure at the SCADA and is raising alarms every 2 hours and 4 mins. We’ve had multiple people go through the code to check for anything obvious. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, same pb for me ! did you find a solution ? (I'm working on 2 raspberry pi ) The same project compiled for 4.8.0.0 runtime with CodeSys 3.5SP20 is working fine on one target, and on the other one, my UAexpert receives the same "BadIdentityTokenInvalid" and none is working on 4.11.0.0 either ... anybody ?

It should come by default on a normal install of Codesys 2.3, but it's a bit hidden: Like for any other library, go to Resources > library Manager > Right click on list of libraries > Additional library. On the browser that opens, instead of looking in the default folder, use the dropdown menu at the bottom to change the folder (SysLibMem should be on the 3rd folder).

Hi All, Recently I have been experiencing a issue in CodeSys SP16 Patch 3, with a exception which comes up after I have made several online changes. callcallback() iec exception caught cmpid=0x00000002, eventid=0x00010008, after I experience this fault then I receive a error message for any subsequent online change "online change failed, no task gap within 10000ms". To recover either the controller needs a orgin reset, which will allow online edits thereafter until falling back into the loop. I am using a TURCK TX707 product which is controlling robot trajectory, We have hard coded the coordinate data rather than using persistence variables so hence the need to do online changes consistently. I have read on the forum other people have experienced similar issue with the online task gap, but I have no task which have same priority and also monitored the CPU usage and have not seen it go above 13%. Anyones help would be much appreciated, thankyou.

After some more digging I realized that I get an error on the PLC Logger saying PersistenceChannel: 150 (invalid type in data: SimpleLibrary). I suppose the issue could be found in the ConfigData, which is automatically generated and which looks like this: 1 9##83 SimpleLibrary#GVL.aMoreZeros.[1]#0#64512#15#0 <[2]#0#64520#15#0 <[3]#0#64528#15#0 <[4]#0#64536#15#0 <#0#64544#15#0 <[6]#0#64552#15#0 <<lrVar#0#64560#15#0 <strVar#0#64428#16#80 <uiDummy#0#64370#11#0 Perhaps the fact that the variable is stored within a library confused the compiler? I tried changing the PersistenceChannel parameters to xCompressTags := FALSE which changed the entry in the data file from _xCompressTags BOOL:TRUE _xCompressTags BOOL:FALSE but the actual content of the data file and also the config data did not change.
