Hi, I'm trying to launch a continuously running python script from Codesys and monitor the script status inside the Codesys runtime (running on a Linux enviroment). For now I'm testing with the below to emulate a continuously running Python script: #test.py i = 0 while True: i += 1 I'm able to successfully run the script using SysProcessExecuteCommand2 (I can see the Python process running in the task manager). However, this "freezes" the Codesys execution of the task - it sits on that command and will not continue until the Python script ends. I've proven this works by using the task monitor to kill the process, then Codesys continues on happily through the task. What I want to do is use SysProcessCreate2 to set up the Python script as a background task and monitor the process using SysProcessGetState. This always results in the error "ERR_OPERATION_DENIED". I know that I'm able to execute commands (as above), so my config should be correct. Is SysProcessCreate2 functional on a Linux environment? Is there something in the config file I'm missing? How can I have an BOOL variable that is read/write in both modbus TCP server and from OPC UA at the same time? Variables with %MX.n %QX.n addressing which is used for BOOL/coils in modbus server is not allowed in OPC UA symbol list on Schneider M251 controllers. I have already asked on Schneiders forum but there are not a lot of codesys experts over there :( So OPC symbols can't have a address and the modbus TCP server needs a address. So how should I do it then? It seems like an impossible combination. Since I want read/write access from both ways I can't just simply make a second variable and assign it the value of another since it would be a one way assignment. I also tried using VAR_CONFIG which then makes the address syntax %Q or %M in my main variable list and that fools OPC UA Symbol Configuration to allow it and then I add the complete %MX.n address of it in the VAR_CONFIG list. This semi works, I can toggle the BOOL from modbus but the OPC UA symbol seems to be read only. It displays symbol status but nothing happens when I toogle it. I think I need another way to have the variables and symbols pointing to the same bits in memory... My plan B is to write a BOOL array compare FB that saves a history bit from previous cycle and if that does not match current status at next cycle for either the OPC symbol or the modbus variable then it copies the new status over to the other. Maybe ugly but it's like my last alternative. Kind regards David

Hi, I’m currently testing the Codesys Redundancy application with 2 Raspberry Pi, with the idea is of using in my project 2 Wago PFC200 and 1 Ethercat Master with 2 Remote IO. After I configure the redundancy, and one Pi is Active and the other is Passive, if I disconnect the Ethernet cable of the Active, the Passive become Standalone, which is good, but the problem is the following: -When I recover the Ethernet connection, both stay Standalone. They will NOT Sync until I do it manually in the Codesys environment. How to make the synchronization automatically? -If both Pi/PLC stays Standalone, who is managing the IO? (Ethercat and Serial) I have done a test with an Modbus Slave, where I am sending a counter that increase every second. And I see that when both PLC are standalone, they both keep an active connection with the Slave, and both write values. This does not seem good, since according to this in my project both PLC would try to control the IO at the same time. Note: The Codesys have an option (greyed out, not possible to select) which says “Auto Sync”. What is the purpose, and why I’m not able to select it? I'm using Codesys Control for Rapsberry Pi 64SL Runtime in my test environment (2xRaspberry Pi 4), with the idea of using Codesys Control PFC 200 Runtime in my project (2xWago PFC200 and 1 Ethercat Master with 2x Wago 750-354 Ethercat Fieldbus Coupler). Using the last Codesys 3.5 version (SP19 PAtch 5). I'd appreciate a lot any help on this questions!

We are experiencing serious jitter issues on an ARM64 imx8. Until now, on rpi and beaglebone derivatives, and on Intel, we never encountered jitter issues unless they were already present on the device. In this case, as can be seen from the attached graph, we have excellent maximum latency. The cyclictest on the isolated core dedicated to IEC CODESYS tasks shows a latency of 37µs, with an average of 14µs. Usually, on all other devices, with an RT kernel, with the appropriate parameters to avoid frequency throttling, with properly managed IRQs, and with the disabling of large page sizes, the jitter measured by CODESYS is very close to the cyclictest latency. However, on this imx8, we are noticing a fluctuating value of +/- 300µs that seems to be added to this latency, as if something occasionally miscalculates the sleep times by exactly +/- 300µs. I have a main PLC with my CODESYS project on, including Web Visu. I also have a second device used for pump monitoring, all of this is displayed on a seperate HMI. I am looking at displaying the pump monitoring HMI on WebVisu so that I can solely use 1 HMI rather than having two. I can project the pump monitoring HMI into Chrome, and log in and it works fine. When I'm using the Web Browser element in Web Visu, enter my URL (device IP) it shows me the web page, but doesn't show me all of it. It uses parts of JavaScript for the login authenticiation and various other widgets. Similarly, I cannot get Youtube or Google to display on WebVisu either (possibily because of the same reason). Does anybody have any tips on how I can display the likes of Youtube or Google onto WebVisu so I can view it on my 7inch HMI (I suspect that if I can get Youtube or Google to work, then I will also be able to get my pump montitoring web page to work too).

Really good post. I hope that it gets seen by CoDeSys staff. I often find the documentation lacking when it comes to using CoDeSys in more complex ways. If using standard "basic PLC functionality", then it's fine and functions are documented in a sufficient way. Once you go outside of that bubble then I find the documentation not enough. CODESYSControl.cfg is a good example of this. And why isn't more of this integrated in the IDE. like changing port of the webserver. Why is it hidden in this file and not accessible through the IDE. It feels like a layer of complexity purposely left in so you don't change it if you don't know what you are doing. Like the argument is if you have the know-how to find the file you have the know-how to edit it. I find the documentation lacking when it comes to more complex libraries too. Like the element collections library. there is parameters I still don't quite know what they do. I can't find any documentation about them. There is an example project to download from CoDeSys so you can see how you are supposed to set your factories up. I leave some parameters like it is in the example. Should I? I don't know. Does it work. Yes. But I could perhaps create memory leaks if I get something wrong and I don't see that until way later. In the create method of your element factory you have a function called __vfinit and you just have to accept that it works. Why can't I get insight in what it does through documentation? Don't CoDeSys want us to know how these work so we can't use them to accidentally break something? I find the error logging lacking too. I've had the CoDeSys service crash but it doesn't say why. I've seen windows noticing the crash but no error code was sent or error message. Also in my current issue where the application fails to start after power outage. I can see in the log that it fails to load retain in the application as one log entry and application failing to start as another. But why? Why does loading the retain fail? give me more information! Is it just a skill issue with me? I don't know. If it is then I'd still want CoDeSys to step up their game when it comes to documentation. I'm sorry if a lot of frustration comes though in this post. I really like the product and what I can do with it compared to other PLC brands.

Hello, i need to create an application that uses 2 masters, with 2 different ratios, and it outputs in one single slave. I explain better: Imagine axis A, B and C. -Axis A is the slave. -Axis B is master of A, with a specific ratio. -Axis C is master of A, with a specific ratio. the result motion from B and C should be executed by A, proportionally in position and ratios from B and C. With standard softmotion libraries (MC_...) it is not possible (i couldn't) because it is allowed only one master with its ratio. I have made a similiar application in past, using MoveOverGear in order to synch gears before engage. Instead this time, i need to do a gear over gear application, using 2 different masters. The position have to be the sum of both masters (considering their ratios). Any clue about how to do it? Or were to find some FB that can do it?

With the sample project open, right click on the Raspberry Pi device and update to whatever you are using (SL, MC, 64b). Enable I2C on the PI. You can jumper the hats Analog Outputs to Inputs and see it function on the Web Visualization. Very Cool! I spent quite a bit of time trying to find this solution so hopefully this update helps others. Hello, I have experienced such situations with some servo drive devices in the past. The home completion information is reported to the upper controller by the slave drive with the states of the relevant bits in the StatusWord (for example; 6041h Bit10, Bit12 in Home mode). If the states of these bits are correct in terms of number and state but the motor does not actually perform the action; You can contact the slave drive manufacturer. There may be a problem with the device firmware. Hi guys, I have a textlist in my project which is working just as expected in a drop down list. I would like to move this text list to a sd card and access it from there, because I want to ease the editing of the contents of this textlist. I'm imagining a solution like the operator shuts down the plant, takes the sd card out, edits the textlist on the card with a windows machines notepad, then reinserts the card in the PLC and restarts the plant, having the new content of the textlist populating the dropdown list. I'm sorry that I'm asking you to spoonfeed me, but I did not find anything straightforward to do this... I saw in the Project>Project settings>Visualisation a relative path thingy, but I have the plant in operation and I would not like to make 100 trial and errors right now... I'm also not interested in SysLib file read commands and stuff, I would just like to access the file from the cards part, I don't want to replace its contents dynamically or such... nor I have language files or recipes... So here's how: I manually installed the following packages: codemeter-lite_8.30.6885.501_amd64.deb codesyslicenseserver_licenseserver_4.18.0.0_all.deb codesyswbmbase_wbmbase_4.18.0.0_all.deb codesyswbmlicensing_wbmlicensing_4.18.0.0_all.deb Of course, the license server appeared immediately. Trying to install it again using Install in the Deploy tab, the same error appears. Of course, the information that such a server is already installed is also there. Configuring PLC, S_PLC, EDGE, and SAFE_TIMER_PROVIDER went smoothly, and basically everything works. I wrote a simple program for S_PLC. I'm loading the programs into PLC and S_PLC. When loading the program into S_PLC, a message appears stating that there is no connection to the S_PLC controller. Timeout error. Restart the controller, attempt to load, and see the above. After changing the cycle time for S_PLC to 50ms, the problem no longer occurs. My question, besides the difficulty of installation for a new user, is what causes the cycle time for S_PLC to be so long, and how can I fix it?

I do datastructures and algorithms in Codesys. For example a Struct of Person with thing's like IdNumber, Name, Age etc. as example. Now i do all kind of calculations, filters. So i have this pretty big Fixed Array with Structs. On this struct i want to do simple stuff you can do easily in C++/Python/Rust etc. For example i want to do this: AvererageAge := Average(Peoples.Age); Then it will return the average of all members ages. Or Sort struct on age etc. Or sort on alphabetical Name. Or use Lambda functions to filter/mutate out things like, filter out everybody above 18 years old. Or remove people who it's name start with "A". Currently i have to write my own custom function for example sorting on Age. And make a super specific function based on that particulare datastructure. Not really DRY code right? These are custom made bubble sort filters in a function. You pass in the Datastructure, and say what function you want. (This is an enum collection of sorting functions) And then the Array with Nodes of Structs gets ordered. Why can't we have Iterators and Lambda's and build in standard functions like regular languages? Also i use bubble sort because it's the easiest to implement because i can't get this to code DRY. Problem with ST (Even the new one with classes) that it's very limited for programming datastructures and algorithms. Yes you still not want dynamic memory and you need to choose the correct algorithm so you know the most extreme edge cases regarding the time it takes to execute the algorithms.(Real-time execution) How are other people dealing with this? I wish the IEC 61131-3 standard would be more expressive and having more standard modern features, but still keep close to the fact of no dynamics memory and real-time systems.

Hello I am using an OpusA3 with version 3.5 SP17 Patch 3 as part of a project. I had no real problem before I encountered a problem that blocked me. The detection of the OpusA3 from Codesys is done correctly. The gateway is well configured and if I ping the gateway or the OpusA3 I receive the response correctly. The problem is that when I try to connect, the Opus screen freezes and a few moments later Codesys displays an error message ("connection to device closed"). I tried to change PC, to update the runtime, to change OpusA3 but the problem remains the same. I'm a little lost knowing that before it worked without problem. I went back to a previous version of the project (where it worked correctly) but the message still appears. Do you have any clues to solve the problem? Sincerely,

Hi all, for a deeper understanding of the Codesys RTE - I created a simple application with 3 IEC tasks (Ta,Tb,Tc) each with different priorities, and different cycle times. The application runs on Windows 10 in the Soft PLC CODESYS Control Win V3. If my understanding is correct, the RTE i.e. the Process CodesysControlService should spawn 3 threads (Th_a,Th_b,Th_c) which are executed with the defined cycle times, the priority of the threads should reflect the priority of the task set in the Codesys IDE. Does somebody have an idea, how I could identify the respective threads in Windows? Kind regards Andrej

Build: CODESYS 3.5 SP19 Patch 1 (64-bit) Host OS: Windows 10 Target: Linux SL I have a project with programs in Structured Text and Ladder Diagram. When I try to use the Find function, it works for the Active Editor; however, when I try to use Find for the Entire Project, I get the error "Object reference not set to the instance of an object." I know what this error means in the context of the program, but I have no idea why the find function is returning this error. The variable I am searching does not matter: it happens with all variables. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. I generally use the Find function quite often as I am developing and not having it is really slowing me down.

Hi, I haven´t noticed you put the comment here. I thing it´s a bit different. What I want is to have detail errors of technology in data type e.g. INT. This variable I would latch to the corresponding error msg but I would like to get it convert to text from the text list and not keep it in INT form. Example. Main error Valve Error: SubErrors 1 - Both sensors 2 - Not retracted in time 3 - Not pulled out in time In HMI Main error + latch SubErrors => "Valve Error: Both sensors" The benefit is that text lists are part of translation and can be easily manipulated. I know I can create whole string msg in PLC but then, it lose advantage of Alarm management. Thanks. M.

Hallo everyone, I am working on new PLC of Weidmueller that uses Codesys SP19. I made the upgrade at the Patch 4 coming from patch 0. Unce made the upgrade everything is working well in the progect except the web visu user menagent. In the new version, when I perfom the login, I cannot use the keyboard of the device; the window where to digit the user name and password opens, the buttons "OK" and "Cancel" work but the system doesn't allow to put input from the device keybord, the mouse behaves as it is an image. If I active the virtual keypad or numpad it works otherwise nothing. I am wondering if it is a bug of the new package or if I must set something else. Thanks in advance, Riccardo.

CODESYS introduced many cyber security related changes over the last few years, one of them is to restrict file access. By default, file access is restricted to the PlcLogic folder and subfolders of the CODESYS control runtime of version 3.5.19.0 and newer. For Control Win this would be the folder C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\xxxxxxxx\PlcLogic\ To enable access to other folders, you can configure additional paths by adding them to the file CODESYSControl.cfg. For example: [SysFile] FilePath=C:/temp/test FilePath.1=C:/Users/Public You should now be able to access your file in C:\temp\test\ or in C:\Users\Public
