Which plc type is it? Easy connection is to install a Gateway on remote side - this is available for Windows and Linux devices Then just add a new Gateway in CODESYS (with the IP Adress of the remote device) -> then scan the plc via this new added Gateway

There is currently a bug with the Raspberry Pi 64 SL where it is unable to Trend Global Retain or PersistantVars. The work around is to use standard Global Variables for Trend Data. This will be patched by Codesys in the near future reference "VIS-6170"

Yes, this works (at least we have it running with Wago PLC and Beckhoff I/O), but the concept works. You need 2 PLC's with at leat 3 network interfaces. And 2 switches (can be unmanaged). See the attached simple diagram for the solution.

Ok, I think I understand. The problem is my language-setting being "swedish". I will check if I can switch to english. Update/confirmed. Change LANG to en_GB, this enabled the architechture to be correct and the control SL again to appear and to be possible to be updated. Thanks!

I got as far as: Then insert this: [SysProcess] BasePriority=Realtime Command=AllowAll devoid of references of where the CodesysContol.cfg file was located or of the need to run codesys as root I incrementally located bits of information with perplexity searches but remained mired at error 25 ERR_NO_ACCESS I am curious whether root access is MANDATORY to run SysProcessExecuteCommand (- and/or any other SysProcess functions) or if a more access-constrained User=quasiroot could suffice without the security concerns ? Apparently codesys runs fine without User=root for almost everything... That raises the question: What IS the default codesys user ? I notice in the prototypes: VAR sCommand : STRING := '/usr/bin/whoami'; sOutput : STRING(255); refCommand : REFERENCE TO STRING; refOutput : REFERENCE TO STRING; resultCmd : UDINT; END_VAR whenever I attempt to build this Codesys v3.5 SP2 whines that "cannot convert type REFERENCE TO STRING to STRING" don't remember the exact message... Apparently this happens whenever a fixed-length string is involved. if I get rid of (255) and just set the string := ' '; that is sufficient to make the compiler happy. Is this a recently enforced constraint ? Why does this compile for you and not for me ? There are references to functions / utilities which are used/needed to massage the string references - but I see no specific details... I also notice you specify: Make sure the lib SysProcessImplementation, SysTypes, and CmpErrors is on the project. I don't comprehend why all of the dependent libraries are not automatically referenced, added ? I don't recall seeing anywhere but here that SysProcessImplementation must be included... It just seems odd that the default is to exclude essential libraries, or require alchemical conjuring to assemble all the ingredients for gnat soup ;-) Thanks a lot... I'm not really sure what you are trying to do, but maybe you are referring to using the CmpCharDevice library? When you "open" the connection to a device, you can pass flags. What helped me is to set the non-blocking flag. For small project, I would like to use my industrial computer as a PLC + Industrial Computer. Like that I can save the cost of one PLC. That why I am using Codesys on Linux. With the nic it is not working. I already set the IP adress with /etc/network/interfaces. Can it comes from there ? looking to "Control Linux SL" docuemntation it should work with rtu.

we use successful for many years the KEB MFI terminal for Profinet, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP,... You'll need a EtherCAT Coupler as "head" from KEB, Kendrion or Berghof. It's all the same board inside: https://www.kebamerica.com/products/ethercat-bus-coupler/ Or the coupler with 16Di/Do integrated: https://www.kebamerica.com/products/ethercat-digital-io-module/ last year I got a EK1100 with EL6731 Profibus treminal runnig. " [ERROR] sm3_basic, 4.18.0.0 (codesys): MC_MoveAbsolute: C0138: No matching 'FB_Init' method found for instantiation of SMC_MoveAbsRelPerformerImpl " -- Previously working version: Codesys IDE SP18.50, Softmotion 4.10.0.0 -- Later updated version with the error: Codesys IDE SP21.10, Softmotion 4.18.0.0 Has anyone encountered a similar issue? An update note. Still using linux/Qemu. Still happy, but sometimes some things are harder. I lost the "bridge" connection to my VM (meaning for instance I couldnt "scan network" and find local units. Have spent tons of hours to find out why. Finally it seems the traffic got blocked by the firewall/iptables so needed to set rules for that. So friendly note that rules must allow forward traffic to/from you configured host bridge device.

Searching for it I came across this https://www.codesys.com/fileadmin/data/Images/System/Releaseinformation/Patch-Note-CODESYS-Visualization-4300.html which says it was a bug VIS-1394, fixed in Visualization 4.3.0.0. I'm using a previous visu version, what is the cause of this error, and what can be done to work around it?

For whom may not know why always get error code 16#4000 or 16#4002 while performing Recipe commands, the root cause is There is a line need to be inserted in CODESYSControl.cfg file, which is PlaceholderFilePath.1=/var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/ I am using Pi, therefore the above path is set to my pi unit, after adding above line to my cfg file, all the Recipe commands work fine. But I still do not know how and when this file got modified though.
