Hello everyone, I've been working on a system which needs an error function, with this purpose I've created a FB programmed in LD, after debugging I run the simulation. It seems that the variable linked to a coil doesn't change the value when the contacts are associated to input variables. When I use internal variables the logic works properly. I don't know if the problem is related to the variables definition or with the logic program. As you can see in the image, I1 and I2 are variables declared on the FB, the rest are input variables. If I force the eStop and Reset signals to TRUE the coil value should change, but it doesn't. However in the second network if I1 is TRUE the coil change to TRUE as it has to be. To sum up, my doubt is why that coil doesn't change its value? I would like someone to shed a light on this. Thanks!

Hi everyone, new at Codesys and PLC programming in general. I am using Codesys Win V3.5 SP20 I would like to measure an encoder's frequency output (obtaining that pulse train from Factory IO) and intended to use the MeasureFrequence FB (Intern/CAA/Utilities/CAA Mathematics/3.5.19.0). As mentioned in the title what I need to measure is low frequency, such as lower than 40hz (a cycle every 25mS) or so; I could even go lower frequency if required as this is for test purposes) therefore I am not expecting problem measuring a low frequency with that FB The library in question appears to be installed as I can retrieve it from the Library Repository. I can also see it from the Device's Library Manager. Problem arises when I am trying to instantiate this particular FB. I go like this: VAR MeasF:MeasureFrequence; END_VAR Please note that as soon as I start typing the "MeasureFrequence", the MeasureFrequence comes out as a viable option in auto-typing; seems to indicate that the FB is recognized somehow. But there is no way I can compile this as it comes back with the following: C0046: Identifier 'MeasureFrequence' not defined. Tried to rename that to ABC instead of MeasF; same issue. Possibly that the library is not properly installed ? Placeholder ? I would greatly appreciate a bit of guidance if possible. Thank you and regards, Mike

Hi In the POU section of my project I have created a Fan function block and defined an alarm group template for this FB with one alarm (Motor fault). In the PLC program I define two instances of the fan function block. When going to the alarm configuration and pressing "Create or update alarm instances", I get two alarms listed. So far so good. However, when I start my program and check the alarm table in the visualization I only see one alarm, even if both are active. Am I doing something wrong, or is it not possible to define alarms on a function block level and get one set of alarms per instance of the function block?

First make sure the programming laptop and HMI are both on the same subnet. For example if the IP address of the HMI is 192.168.1.125 with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 set your laptop IP to 192.168.1.120 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Make sure the cables are fully connected (the ethernet port on my programming laptop will click once but the cable is not fully seated.) Make sure the HMI is powered on, try pinging the device from a command prompt, if you can't ping the HMI there is a network issue that has to be resolved first.

Hello, I am using a Hitachi Micro EHV+ for a small project, and I wanted to have a Web visu, done with Codesys V3.5 SP13 Patch 2. I test the Visu screen and it works well in Codesys, but I get a blank page when i enter the web visu in a browser. Here is the setting under web visualization: Update rate (ms): 5000 Default communication size: 100000 Under Visu_Task tab: Priority: 3 The Visu_Task interval is set to 2500ms I'm using Google chrome with the latest update, the Javascript is enabled with HTML5. Any advice?

I know I'm thinking about this wrong -- too many decades of procedural and event-driven programming and only a few months of PLC ST programming...... I've created a visualization with a button that when pushed calls a method. I want the method to take a pressure reading, wait one minute and then take another pressure reading. I'm looking for leaks. I'm using TON for the delay. It seems like what is happening is that the method gets called once and it takes the first reading and starts the TON. But then execution continues, leaves that method call, and the second reading never happens. I can force the method to keep running until the whole thing is done with a While loop, but I understand that is considered BAD in PLC programming. If it push the button again to call the method again, it picks up where it left off and if the timer is complete then it runs the remaining code. How do I keep that method running until it is complete with just one call without using a while loop that ties up the PLC for a minute? Thanks! -Farren

Apparently codesys runs fine without User=root for almost everything... That raises the question: What IS the default codesys user ? I notice in the prototypes: VAR sCommand : STRING := '/usr/bin/whoami'; sOutput : STRING(255); refCommand : REFERENCE TO STRING; refOutput : REFERENCE TO STRING; resultCmd : UDINT; END_VAR whenever I attempt to build this Codesys v3.5 SP2 whines that "cannot convert type REFERENCE TO STRING to STRING" don't remember the exact message... Apparently this happens whenever a fixed-length string is involved. if I get rid of (255) and just set the string := ' '; that is sufficient to make the compiler happy. In general, drives have parameter sets to adjust behaviour in such cases: position recovery, adaptation with resistant torque, out-of-position window failure, etc. (Much depends on the type of configuration set for the axis: positioner, speed controller, torque controller, etc.). I have used that type of drive very little, in only two cases and a long time ago. To tell you what is normal is impossible. I know by reputation they are very simple objects, without too many pretensions and adjustments possible. Try running traces by monitoring actual position, motor current, torque and following error. These are the most sensible curves to understand what is going on. Maybe by fine tuning the motor tuning, the current controller or the speed controller you will get something closer to what you want. For example, from DS, the motor has a standstill torque of 3 Nm. Observe with traces whether this is effective: motor current trend. And afterwards, when you have your own accurate picture of the situation, you can also hear from the product's local support to see if you can steal a few more things from it performance-wise.

Hi all, i am encounter a mystery problem with a build with rexroth drives at my work. At my company we are make a machine with two Rexroth Indradrives . The two drives are goes by ethercat protocol . To be more specific i am going from my plc to the Beckoff El1100 coupler and after to the first drive and from the first drive to the second. The second drive works with no problem but the first(motor) sometimes without any pattern start to make a mysterious noise like stop and suddenly goes on again. If i couldn't hear the noise from the motor i couldn't Imagine that this happen. After a lot of research i see that sometime i have some strange zeros from the drive to the plc? Really i am in a deadlock and I don't know how to continue. From the other side the values on the other drive(second)are stable . Hi I'm automation engineering student and I'm not yet quite familiar with CAN-bus. What I am trying to achieve, to send two byte message via CAN from Epec display to Scott Drive inverter. I'm using code template made with Epec Multitool in Codesys 3.5 Problem i'm facing is that drive responds with same COB-ID. In multitool, you can create TPDO/RPDO. And depending on that, display either sends or only receives. This is problem, because for parameter polling from drive, you need to send two byte request to 0x399 and drive responds with eight bytes. If request is longer, drive don't respond. 0x399 is currently setted as RPDO, so display doesn't send anything on startup and I made program that sends messages to 0x399 bytes 0 and 1 and bytes 3-7 are shown in display. If setted as TPDO, display send all eight bytes and therefor drive cannot respond. But, I think because they are defined as RPDO, display won't send message, although monitoring with Codesys, values are changed. Question is, how should COB-ID be configured in Codesys, so it wouldn't automatically start to send message but would send when needed?

Hi, yes now its working, to get "QUEUE.bFull" to work, I've had to set the "QUEUE.nNumReservedEntries" to 3. (I tried different values here, only effect for larger values i can see is the the queue capacity gets smaller.) I'm working on a low cost project and I'm considering installing the Codesys runtime on a PC running Linux Debian instead of buying a PLC with a pre-installed runtime. For my needs the Control Standard S license should be capable of running some IO over ethernet/ip, and a webvisu. The PC I am considering has a AMD GX-424CC 2.4GHz processor (4 core/4 thread) and 4GB RAM. This may compare to a raspberry pi4, but I know an X86 processor doesn't directly compare to an ARM processor, and a processor can have a high clock speed but other factors like L2/L3 cache can influence the overall performance. I can't find any published specs for the processor and RAM requirements to run the Codesys Control runtime, does anybody have a link to the minimum system requirements or experience using devices that are at or below the minimum system requirements. A raspberry pi with the control for raspberry pi SL runtime license would be the lowest cost option, but the license is not for commerical use. This restriction is somewhat vague, can anybody clarify if this means I can use a raspberry Pi runtime for in-house automation, what about if I am selling an integrated system that uses a raspberry Pi as a controller?
