Post by dogulas on Removing a symbol from the IEC Symbols Editor grid CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
gatto, That works. Thanks. Typically I use my mouse more than my keyboard. That's why I was looking for a delete option from the right-click context menu or a delete button on a toolbar at the top. It never occured to me to use the keyboard. It might be a little more user friendly if they allowed a mouse wise ability to remove a line from the grid as well as the DEL key. Just a suggestion. Thanks for your help.

Post by struccc on When running as a service, CodesysControl doesn't write log files to the disk (and other CmpLog related issuess) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Are you sure when running as service, it is not reading configuration from C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS... ? Is the SRV user is set for the CODESYS services? 2 ways to fix it: Change the CODESYSControl.cfg in the installation directory (ProgramFiles/CODESYS...). Replace %APPDATA% with something fix. Modify the service configuration in windows service manager to run as a different user (ie bot as Local system account)

Post by eoahe on Problem Reading Registers via Modbus from non Codesys device CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hey Guys :) I have the following Problem using Modbus via Codesys: I'm trying to implement a Modbus Device into my codesys project. The device is a Router from Teltonika (RUT956) and it can communicate via Modbus. Currently I'm trying to implement it into my codesys prject as a slave and I'm using my windows computer as master. As it is not a codesys device (the codesys application is not uploaded to device as it has its own software) I'm having problems requesting and reading registers from the router. I've set up my windows computer as Master and implemented the router as slave. When I go online on my master device it sais that it has established a connection to the slave (router)(So I'm thinking this could work as there is a connection?). The goal is to read the GPS (latitude and longitude) data and on the homepage of teltonika you can find the register address and number of registers (adress 143 for latitude and 145 for longitude; both have a number of two registers). I've found tutorials how to read specific registers via their register address with other modbus programs (like modbus-cli), but as my entire project is established in codesys I was hoping to read these specific registers via codesys so that I can show the GPS data on my dashboard. I've tried establishing slave channels but that hasn't been working. I tried read input register channels of the length 4 but it's not possible to define specific register addresses to read via codesys so that didn't work (I jsut get a slaves device failure) and I've also tried establishing 516 (total number of registers the router sends I think?) read inputregister channels but that has the samle failure... So i guess the problem I'm having is establishing slave channels to read these specific registers. Does anyone know how to tackle this problem and has maybe had the same problem? Or maybe someone knows a workaround? I'm quite new to codesys so maybe I'm also lacking expertise...

Post by trusty-squire on Which database to use? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
How large and how complex? It's tough to make a recommendation without additional details. The simplest thing is to just use data arrays (or even arrays of arrays). Not knowing your requirements, it might be sufficient and the simplest option is often the best. https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_datatype_array.html You might also look into using Recipes? https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/recipe-manageme/home/Home/ Some more complex options below. https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/element-collect/home/Home/ https://store.codesys.com/en/mysql-library-sl.html

Wow! Thanks mr Strucc. Changed to service to run as local acc, and now log works! The service (run from local acc) is using this config: C:\Users\SRV\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3\C4DBB537\CODESYSControl.cfg The path you first mentioned (c:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming) has no CODESYS folder in it (Windows 11 24H2 b26100.3194). Thanks for your help :)

What is the task configuration? When you are online and look at the task monitor, what does it show? (Put a screenshot here). If the processor is overloaded you'll likely need to increase the cycle interval, disable the watchdog, or change to a cyclic task instead of interval based? Also, You might want to adjust your task priorities so they don't all have the same priority. Just a few thoughts, although looking at the task monitor would help in troubleshooting.

Post by atone on Change IO-Link Device Interface connected to a Profinet-Slave at Runtime CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I need to be able to update (change) the interface of an IO-Link device at runtime. The reason is the connected sensor can be selected at runtime, and some sensors we use have a 2 byte IN interface, others have a 4 byte IN interface, others 16 byte IN, others 16 byte IN/OUT (see attached screenshot). Is it possible at all? When yes, which function should I use? Thank you!

Hi Trusty-Squire, just seen you post , thanks for the reply. I was out on site the other day as it had done it again and changed a few things like cycle time etc. plc load is only 7% at its highest. I took a few screenshots while i was there to add to this post. its been up for about a week now but seems to happen at random every couple of weeks. fingers crossed!

Post by atone on Set DeviceID of an IO-Link Sensor at Runtime CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I need to be able to change (set) the DeviceID of an IO-Link sensor (see DeviceID.png) at runtime. I tried with both ProfinetCommon.PN_PortConfiguration and ProfinetCommon.IOL_PortConfiguration, but I get an error for both when I try to read the port configuration (see PN_PortConfiguration.png). Does one of those FBs is the right one for my purpose? Do I possibly make a mistake when assigning the parameter IOLD_ID/IOLM_ID?

In order to set the placeholder to empty, open the Library Manager and click on Placeholders in the Library Manager ribbon. If you left click in the library column for CmpEventMgr Implementation, it will show you the available library versions for CmpEventMgr Implementation. To update the runtime, open the Project menu and select Project Environment. That window will show you the current version of CmpUserMgr Implementation and if there is a newer version available in the Recommended column.

I would like to enable the feature to automatically generate POUs for Project/Library properties in some of my library/project files. The Codesys help pages indicate it should be on the bottom of the Project Information Summary tab, but mine has no such options (see screenshot). Post by janp on IFM Controller Connection Issue CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi everyone, I’m using an IFM ecomatBasic CR413S controller and having trouble connecting it to CODESYS 3.5. I have CODESYS SP18 installed, as recommended in the manual, and I’ve tried different patches. I’ve also installed all the packages provided on the IFM website for this controller. I can successfully connect to the ecomatBasic template, but I’m unable to connect when using the CR413S-specific template that includes all the inputs and outputs. Has anyone encountered this issue or knows a solution? Best regards, Jan

Post by critcho on WebVisu Numpad dialog - Dialogtitle not accepting string variable CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have a WebVisu page which is re-used for multiple types of gas; it displays the alarm thresholds etc. for one gas at a time. I have an array of structures holding the set-points for each of the gasses. I'm trying to change the dialog title for the value input pop-up (VisuDialogs.Numpad). The Dialogtitle is set to Gas_Alarms.HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog, which is a string(50): When the gas type is changed (page first loaded, or prev/next buttons), METHOD Gas_Alarms.Update_Display_Variables is called, to update the strings used for the dialog titles so it shows GasName High Alarm Activation Level (EngineeringUnits), e.g. CO2 High Alarm Activation Level (PPM): HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog := Insert(' High Alarm Activation Level ()', EngineeringUnits, 30); HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog := Insert(HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog, GasName, 0); (That's not where the problem is, I'm just explaining why I'm using a variable dialogue title.) The variables used are definitely strings, but i'm always getting the error: "The type of the dialog title must be either STRING or WSTRING". I've tried moving HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog etc. to the GVL and also changing them to WSTRING, I even tried adding them to the structure array, but I always get the same error. Clearing the dialog title for that element removes the error - so I'm confident it's not a phantom error caused by something else. But I should be able to add these titles, can't just nuke them all to make it work. The MinVal and MaxVal for the Numpad are called from the array, e.g. GVL.Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].ScaledValueMIN, they are not getting an error. I am using array indexes 1 - 5 for the gasses, when I load the form or change gas, I copy the selected index to index 0 of the array, and values from Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].[ALL] are displayed on the page. When they hit save, I copy Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].[ALL] to Gas_Alarm_Configs[CurrentGasIndex].[ALL]. (ALL just means every element, I can't figure out how to display an asterix in this question... :) ) I've searched online for variable title dialog, but not found anything to help. Thanks for your help!

Post by eschwellinger on CODESYS Control for Linux ARM SL (32 bit) on Moxa UC-3100 IPC CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I would recommend to ask Moxa for a newer version of Debian. Debian 9 ("Stretch") has reached its end of life and is no longer receiving security updates from the official Debian Security Team as of June 30, 2022. This means any systems still running Debian 9 are vulnerable to security risks and should be upgraded to a newer, supported version of Debian like Debian 10 ("Buster") or Debian 11 ("Bullseye").

Post by arwie on Working on exporting/importing projects to PlainText. CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
To better track project changes in git I created a script that exports the project structure as text files. Textual POUs are stored as text, everything else as XML (with timestamps removed). The file structure is stored under path/to/your.project.txt Git merge will not work, but at least tracking changes is much easier. Script: https://github.com/arwie/controlOS_demo/blob/main/codesys/txtfy.py Example output: https://github.com/arwie/controlOS_demo/tree/main/codesys/controlOS_demo.project.txt

Hi, Has anyone managed to use the last four buttons in a POU toolbar in LD2? You can close and open by clicking from one small rectangle to another (same for deleting a closure //). Linking K to D causes a series connection with all the branches // above. Amazing! I don't really see the advantages of this supposedly modern and efficient language over the old LD/FBD. Can anyone explain?
