Hello, I have developed a Python script that I run to import XML files into my project. For this, I use the Python function import_xml(). Everything was working fine when I was using Codesys platform plugins version 2.6.1.2320, but since I upgraded to versions 2.7 and even 2.8, some files are no longer imported correctly. After some research, I identified that all the files containing variables of the type "POINTER TO" are affected. I have attached a screenshot of the error I am encountering. Do you know about this bug? Do you plan to fix it?

Hi, I have an OPC UA information model with objects defined in it. I can import the model and use the data types defined in it and create instances of these types. These instances are accessible at Root > Objects > DeviceSet > CODE[...] > Resources > Application > GlobalVars > OPC_UA_Symbols for created instances and at [...] > Programs > PLC_PRG for mapped instances. The object defined in the information model is accessible in UA Expert by the name I have defined in the information model (Manipulator) at Root > Objects > Manipulator. Hi everyone, With the latest version of Codesys, it’s now possible to import DBC files directly into the J1939 Manager, which is great. However, I’m trying to achieve the same thing programmatically and can’t find any scripting functions related to import_dbc or any host_parameter that would let me configure PGNs and signal mappings automatically. So far, I’ve managed to add the J1939 Manager and an ECU, and I can pass the DBC database to it, but I’m stuck when it comes to adding the signals. Has anyone figured out if this can be done through scripting? (Attached is an illustration of what I am trying to accomplish programmatically). Thanks in advance.

Hi, In my CODESYS project (ABC.project), I’m using the MQTT library. I’ve also created a separate library (DEF.library) which itself references the MQTT library. In ABC.project, I’ve customized some MQTT parameters—for example, setting g_udiMaxPublishersAndSubscribers to 100 instead of the default value of 20. However, when I import DEF.library into ABC.project, the MQTT parameters get reset to their default values. I assume this happens because DEF.library still uses the default MQTT configuration, which then overrides my project settings. A straightforward workaround would be to manually align the parameter values in DEF.library, but that doesn’t feel like the right approach. Is there a better or recommended way to handle this situation? I'm using SP18 Patch3. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hallo Today I decided to perform an Update on my PFC200 but after the Update the Device was not reachable anymore. I tried reseting to factory reset. Software reset and so on, but nothing helps... In my Router I can see it, I cann SSH into the PFC200 but it is not reachable. Hi, Is there a process to restore Persistence Manager files? I have backups of persistence variables used in a machine that is currently operating and tuned and all set points adjusted. There are about 500 persistence variables, they are building another identical machine. I would like to use Persistence Manager files from the first machine in the second also. I have tried copying the files and replacing them on the new RPI but then the Persistence Manager gets errors and then they are all reset to 0 etc I have tried adjusting the times to match. Instead of replacing whole file, I tried just changing the contents inside the file, but still does not work. I may be missing something here, but surely there must be a way to load a backup. Thanks!

I couldn't exactly solve the file transfer when I wanted to do multiple transfers while the compiler was open in a way that I couldn't understand. Notification from target: runtime received SIGABRT - system may be in an inconsistent state * We recommend a reboot of the controller now! * details of the target component that sent this notification: [CmpName=SysExcept, CmpId=0x00000103, ClassID=0X0001008, ErrorID=0X00000001, InfoID= 0X0000000j] I see the warning. Some developers export ST code manually and edit it in VSCode, then copy it back. However, a more practical approach might be using automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to extract and inject code into the CODESYS project. You could also check if CODESYS Automation Server or CODESYS API allows better ST access for external tools. https://www.codesys.com/the-system/releases-updates-lifecycle/release-plan-roadmap.html Network drive issues are particularly painful. As a mitigation, you could try using local project storage with periodic cloud sync instead of directly saving to a network drive. Using Rsync or Syncthing for automatic but safe synchronization might reduce risks of file corruption.

Which device do you use? Does this have persistent memory (e.g. NVRAM) available? Maybe first ask your PLC vendor about the possibilities and how they advice to use persistent variables? If you have no NVRAM available, CODESYS will store the variables in a file when the device gracefully shuts down. But on an abrupt power failure, this is not possible. If you have no NVRAM and you want to use persistent variables, then consider using a UPS. In this case when the power is lost, the UPS can keep the power on the PLC which then can gracefully shut down. I swear I tested this like 20 times yesterday without success. Repeated it today and it works. Maybe the system needed a "real" power reboot? To note. To make a manual edit of a variable I tried some different approaches this is what worked for me. "system/online edited" gvl_var.example_variable REAL:F16#2FFB334H-4 767.7 "manually edited" (with runtime stopped followed by a "cold start" to read from file) gvl_var.example_variable REAL:790.1 (the system will use the manual value but will not set an equivalent "hex" value until next online edit/write cycle)

you need to get the addons that the person that programmed it used. I always store an .installation-config file alongside the project. If you have lost that, then it gets a bit of a headache: I think even with SP18 you can hit yes to open it anyway, and it will suggest which addons it thinks are missing, if you double click the yellow "missing-addons" in the status bar. If you know you have the right addons, you can do a "Save As.." and it will write your current addon list to the file, and you wont get the error next time.

Hi DavidBo, In general Codesys is used to control equipment and an exception is the worst thing that can happen in your installation. If you cannot prevent the exception from triggering, you could implement a Try catch statement, with this solution your controller keeps on running and you are able to handle the exception. __TRY //This statement will trigger an exception Result := 4/0; __CATCH(exc) //Handle the exception HandleException(exc, strExceptionText => strExceptionText); // From the Codesys help file //Create a log file //-------------------------------------------------------- __ENDTRY What you also could do is implement implicit checks, these functions cover most of the exceptions (like dividing by zero) See picture But in general avoid a complete controller shutdown!

I don't know why the EtherCat fails, but what happens is: First I have only one 1WireMaster running on my Raspberry Pi and EtherCat is running fine. Then I'd like to add a 2nd 1WireMaster. Therefore I enable a 2nd GPIO Pin on the raspberry in the file "/boot/firmware/config.txt". dtoverlay=w1-gpio,gpiopin=4,pullup=0 dtoverlay=w1-gpio,gpiopin=23,pullup=0 To be able to use this 2nd 1WireMaster in Codesys Runtime I Adjust the CODESYScontrol.cfg file and add there: PlaceholderFilePath.2=/sys/devices/w1_bus_master2, $OneWire2$ After a reboot the EtherCat Master is not working any more. I didn't even add a 2nd OneWire Master in Codesys, but still if I do the EtherCat does not work. Do you have an idea why?

Hi Reinier, What usually works for me is settings it up in the following way: In the sender block make sure that the list identifier is unique for the whole installation (this is only relevant when you have multiple senders in 1 network). When you are linking the NVL to a file make sure that the path to this file doesn't change. In my experience the NVL stops working when you change the working directory and afterwards open the NVL in de Codesys IDE. If this doesn’t apply to you application, you could also try to change the port number, maybe there is an other process making use of port 1202. Kind regards Alex

I have code written since version 3.5.16 to access the USB drive, how can I do that now the file access has been taken away? I have tried adding a sybolic link to the usb drive in the following directories: /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/ /var/opt/CODESYS/PlcLogic/ /opt/CODESYS/PlcLogic/ I still recieve a "FILE_OPERATION_DENIED" response when accessing the USB drive.

We changed the path where the CSV file is. From intern memory of the IPC to a USB key. We still have this error 'INVALID_HANDLE'. We must restart the Codesys runtime to clear it. That is a big problem for us because machine is in production. @eschwellinger What do you mean by "this is a security issue not to read/write in the plc allowed path"

You can use the (open source) FTP client in Forge. This works on 64 bit systems.
