Hello, I have almost exactly problem already discussed here in this old thread: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Engineering/thread/03af9426eb/ However, this is quite old and I assume not completely relevant. In my case, I use v3.5.20 on windows 11, so Winpcap is no longer supported on newer OS. Also, this hint about adding entry to the .cfg file under ProgramFiles(x86) is also not relevant anymore. I guess, I need to add entry SysEthernet to this .cfg file: C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64...\CODESYSControl.cfg like this one: [ComponentManager] Component.1=CmpTargetVisuStub Component.2=CmpWebServer Component.3=CmpWebServerHandlerV3 Component.4=SysCpuMultiCore Component.5=SysReadWriteLock Component.6=SysCpuBreakpoints Component.7=SysPipeWindows Component.8=SysEthernet But I'm not sure about Npcap vs WinpCap. I couldn't exactly solve the file transfer when I wanted to do multiple transfers while the compiler was open in a way that I couldn't understand. Notification from target: runtime received SIGABRT - system may be in an inconsistent state * We recommend a reboot of the controller now! * details of the target component that sent this notification: [CmpName=SysExcept, CmpId=0x00000103, ClassID=0X0001008, ErrorID=0X00000001, InfoID= 0X0000000j] I see the warning. Some developers export ST code manually and edit it in VSCode, then copy it back. However, a more practical approach might be using automation scripts (PowerShell, Python) to extract and inject code into the CODESYS project. You could also check if CODESYS Automation Server or CODESYS API allows better ST access for external tools. https://www.codesys.com/the-system/releases-updates-lifecycle/release-plan-roadmap.html Network drive issues are particularly painful. As a mitigation, you could try using local project storage with periodic cloud sync instead of directly saving to a network drive. Using Rsync or Syncthing for automatic but safe synchronization might reduce risks of file corruption.

Which device do you use? Does this have persistent memory (e.g. NVRAM) available? Maybe first ask your PLC vendor about the possibilities and how they advice to use persistent variables? If you have no NVRAM available, CODESYS will store the variables in a file when the device gracefully shuts down. But on an abrupt power failure, this is not possible. If you have no NVRAM and you want to use persistent variables, then consider using a UPS. In this case when the power is lost, the UPS can keep the power on the PLC which then can gracefully shut down. I swear I tested this like 20 times yesterday without success. Repeated it today and it works. Maybe the system needed a "real" power reboot? To note. To make a manual edit of a variable I tried some different approaches this is what worked for me. "system/online edited" gvl_var.example_variable REAL:F16#2FFB334H-4 767.7 "manually edited" (with runtime stopped followed by a "cold start" to read from file) gvl_var.example_variable REAL:790.1 (the system will use the manual value but will not set an equivalent "hex" value until next online edit/write cycle)

you need to get the addons that the person that programmed it used. I always store an .installation-config file alongside the project. If you have lost that, then it gets a bit of a headache: I think even with SP18 you can hit yes to open it anyway, and it will suggest which addons it thinks are missing, if you double click the yellow "missing-addons" in the status bar. If you know you have the right addons, you can do a "Save As.." and it will write your current addon list to the file, and you wont get the error next time.

Hi DavidBo, In general Codesys is used to control equipment and an exception is the worst thing that can happen in your installation. If you cannot prevent the exception from triggering, you could implement a Try catch statement, with this solution your controller keeps on running and you are able to handle the exception. __TRY //This statement will trigger an exception Result := 4/0; __CATCH(exc) //Handle the exception HandleException(exc, strExceptionText => strExceptionText); // From the Codesys help file //Create a log file //-------------------------------------------------------- __ENDTRY What you also could do is implement implicit checks, these functions cover most of the exceptions (like dividing by zero) See picture But in general avoid a complete controller shutdown!

(diff / merge ) My question is 1) Is it possible to convert my project ( only POUs is also fine ) into text file ? How? 2) Would it be better to rewrite all FBD/LD into ST and copy them manually to text files? Thanks.

I don't know why the EtherCat fails, but what happens is: First I have only one 1WireMaster running on my Raspberry Pi and EtherCat is running fine. Then I'd like to add a 2nd 1WireMaster. Therefore I enable a 2nd GPIO Pin on the raspberry in the file "/boot/firmware/config.txt". dtoverlay=w1-gpio,gpiopin=4,pullup=0 dtoverlay=w1-gpio,gpiopin=23,pullup=0 To be able to use this 2nd 1WireMaster in Codesys Runtime I Adjust the CODESYScontrol.cfg file and add there: PlaceholderFilePath.2=/sys/devices/w1_bus_master2, $OneWire2$ After a reboot the EtherCat Master is not working any more. I didn't even add a 2nd OneWire Master in Codesys, but still if I do the EtherCat does not work. Do you have an idea why?

Good morning, I'm using a raspberry pi3 as plc with the runtime 4.9.0.0. My program has many of retrain variables but when an update is performed the retrain variables comes back to default values. Is the a way to backups the retrain variables n a csv file? Is still the way to restore them from the csv? Thank you for helping Luca

Hi, so far I have only used one com port - built-in interface in RPi - RS232 (dev/serial0) as COM1 in Codesys, and my CODESYControl_User.cfg have congiuration like below: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile=/dev/serial portnum := COM.SysCom.SYS_COMPORT1 Actually I added to my Rpi Hat with 2xRS232 (SPI). - /dev/spidev0.0 and /dev/spidev0.1 How I should change my CODESYControl_User.cfg file to use added porta as COM2 and COM3 in Codesys ?

I have code written since version 3.5.16 to access the USB drive, how can I do that now the file access has been taken away? I have tried adding a sybolic link to the usb drive in the following directories: /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/ /var/opt/CODESYS/PlcLogic/ /opt/CODESYS/PlcLogic/ I still recieve a "FILE_OPERATION_DENIED" response when accessing the USB drive.

We changed the path where the CSV file is. From intern memory of the IPC to a USB key. We still have this error 'INVALID_HANDLE'. We must restart the Codesys runtime to clear it. That is a big problem for us because machine is in production. @eschwellinger What do you mean by "this is a security issue not to read/write in the plc allowed path"

You can use the (open source) FTP client in Forge. This works on 64 bit systems. See: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/ftp-client/code/HEAD/tree/ As this is open, the idea is that when you use it and make improvements to the source code, that you also commit this in a branch so others can also benefit from it.

Try to repair Codesys2.3 and need to uninstall and reinstall it. Got this RUNDLL message when uninstall Codesys 2.3: There was a problem starting, the specificed module could not be found. Please refer to attached file. Followed suggestions from Microsoft website and didn't work out. I am using Codesys2.3.9.16. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I have the same problem. Some of the libraries I created over time depend on writing files to a folders like c:\Temp. I can confirm that proposed solution is not working with 3.5.20 Patch 2. Can you please specify wich exactly .cfg file needs to be modified and in what way, in order to include c:\Temp in the SysFile path? Thank you!

If I do cold reset it holds persistent variable values. But when I close control win gracefully, and opens it again then it does not. Even, it is not saving ret file in application.

I have a debian linux host running Control SL. I tried to manage IP-addresses through codesys/Control SL but that was not successful. What works though is manually editing the network-interfaces config file. /etc/network/interfaces. Is there a way to set this up so that IP-addresses can be managed from within codesys instead?
