Post by struccc on Application failing to boot after system reboot
CODESYS Forge
talk
(Post)
I started to experience the same issue, after upgrading to 3.5.19 , and still persists with 3.5.20.3 , using CodesysControlWinV3 x64 on Windows. Unfortunately, this is a live application, normally it is running for months without interruption - so it was a surprise at the last cold start... It was not possible to go online with the original version, so I couldn't see the application, or system status, just the log message. First time I manually clean the Application from the PlcLogic directory (there was no coredump file in there), then I could start the runtime service, and do a fresh download, and set the bootproject. I could not try a cold system reboot - it's in a 24/7 production environment, and I was under heavy pressure to start... What I did, I have created a backup from the * complete * runtime directory, from the failed, and fixed version - before and after download. This directory in my case C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\55096128 - At the next shutdown, it was sufficient to copy back this backup completely, and could start the runtime service afterwards. Ugly, but local staff with some skills can do it without programming tool... I don't store any live data, configuration, log files, persistent data in this directory - the only reason I need this is to edit the CodesysControl... .cfg file.... And to see the logfiles in emergencies like this. The application concerned doesn't use any retain area. - exactly for these reasons - Maybe that is causing the problem with the newer runtime versions As far as I see, this problem occurs only if the power of the Windows PLC is interrupted without a proper shutdown. Unfortunately, this can happen sometimes. The newer versions, seems tp modify CodesysControl.cfg on the fly, and register the applications, and bootproject information after download. (I don't really see CodesysControl.cfg a proper location for this... but that's just my feeling) So now I had a look at CodesysCotrol.cfg on my laptop and I found: [CmpRetain] ;Retain.SRAM.Size=0x200200 ;Retain.SRAM.Address=0xFA3C5776 ;SimulateSRAM=1 [CmpApp] ;Bootproject.CreateOnDownload=0 ;Bootproject.StoreOnlyOnDownload=0 ;Bootproject.InvalidateByRename=1 ;Bootproject.InvalidateBySetting=1 ;Bootproject.InvalidateNever=0 ;PersistentForce=0 ;RetainType.Applications=InSRAM ;RetainType.Applications=OnPowerfail ;RetainType.Applications=None ;Exception.Hardware.GlobalStop=1 Application.1=MyTestAppNoRetain The last line appeared after download and boot project creation. Maybe... Should set RetainType.Applications=None? I wonder about all these settings, but... Will write separately about it. I hope this helps a little...

Hello, I am writing to You with the problem of Profinet communication in my Codesys V2.5 SP21 project working on Codesys Control RTE V3 x64 device. I have implemented multiple Profinet devices in the network, the Profinet itself is configured properly, based on the hardware and software parameters of the industrial PC (Windows 10 IoT). My Profinet network contains such Profinet devices as a robot, IO-Link master with some devices on it, IO modules, safety, vision sensor (the configuration is attached to this topic). Once every few hours, sometimes more often, sometimes not even once a day, the error show up at one, two or a few random modules at the same time, every one is the same: "Station 'xyz': AR aborted by device (alarm.ind): AR consumer DHT expired". The communication is then lost with that module, but it is up instantly. It is not such a problem when it comes to regular IOs, but with safety or rotation table, it causes errors and machine stops. I have tried multiple solution based on any forum suggestions, manuals, etc., but it is still happening. Mabye when I turned on the Watchdog for this communication, it is happening less times, but still, I could not turning up the Watchdog parameters at the expense of cycle time of the process. The same is with Send Clock, Reduction and DHT. I have one of the ethernet port on the PC configured with CmpEt1000Drv driver. The card itself is Intel Ethernet Connection I219-LM. These devices are connected to one EKI-2728-NI-A Profinet switch (it was changed from the standard non Profinet one, but still nothing has changed). As I said ealier, I am attaching all the configurations for each device and the communication itself - if any of You had the same problems or have any ideas what could be the cause, I would be much gratefull for any help. For now I am out of ideas, if You have any additional question, please ask. Sincerely, PF

Post by baltzer on ICertificateVerifier.VerifyCertificate doesn't appear to override an ERR_CERT_HAS_EXPIRED rejection in TCP_Client.Upgrade()
CODESYS Forge

(Post)
Follow-up: working workaround found (routing TLS outside CODESYS) For anyone finding this thread later with the same problem (a third-party device presenting a self-signed and/or expired certificate that ICertificateVerifier/udiVerificationMode won't let you connect through) - we never got a working fix within NBS itself, but found a practical workaround worth sharing. Approach: run a local TLS-terminating proxy on the same host as the CODESYS runtime, and have CODESYS talk plain, unencrypted TCP to it instead of connecting to the remote device directly over TLS: CODESYS --plain TCP--> 127.0.0.1:<port> --stunnel/TLS--> <remote device>:<port> We used stunnel (client mode), with certificate verification explicitly disabled at that layer (verifyChain = no, verifyPeer = no) - a simple, well-documented one-line option, unlike anything we could get working inside NBS. Running it as a systemd service with Restart=always means it survives reboots and recovers automatically if the proxy or the remote device drops. On the CODESYS side, this required no changes beyond pointing TCP_Client at 127.0.0.1 instead of the device's real IP, and removing the TLSContext/ICertificateVerifier code entirely - the rest of our application-layer logic (framing, checksums, etc.) was completely unaffected, since none of that ever depended on where the TLS termination happened. Confirmed working end-to-end against a real device with an expired self-signed certificate, running on CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL (Linux). We haven't yet set this up on Windows - stunnel does have Windows builds available, so the same general approach should be possible there too, but that combination isn't tested or confirmed by us at this point. Caveat: this only makes sense when the proxy and the CODESYS runtime are on the same trusted host (in our case, both on the same Raspberry Pi) - don't expose the proxy's plaintext side on a reachable network interface, since that would create an unauthenticated plaintext path to the device. The original question - whether there's a supported way to override an ERR_CERT_HAS_EXPIRED/self-signed rejection from within NBS's own TLSContext/ICertificateVerifier - remains open as far as we know. Still happy to hear from anyone who's solved that particular piece, since the workaround above is a practical detour rather than an actual answer to the original question.

Post by winki on ModbusFB ClientRequest: never recovers after a single ReplyTimeout (requires full download)
CODESYS Forge
talk
(Post)
Library: ModbusFB (CODESYS Modbus package) IDE / Runtime: CODESYS V3.5 SP___ / Control runtime ___ Target: ___ (e.g. gateway, Linux ARM64 / Debian) Slave: Modbus TCP inverter Summary I poll a Modbus TCP slave with a permanent connection: one ClientTCP (kept connected, xConnect:=TRUE) and one ClientRequestReadHoldingRegisters, triggered cyclically. Everything works fine after a fresh application download. But as soon as one single ReplyTimeout occurs (slave temporarily not answering), the request never recovers. It stays stuck and no further messages are sent, even though the TCP connection is still reported as alive. Only a full application download brings it back — an online change or a runtime reset is not enough / not what I want in production. State observed when stuck So the connection is alive, the request finished in ReplyTimeout, the FB is back to _state = None, but udiNumMsgSent no longer increases — as if a new rising edge on xExecute is no longer accepted / no longer produces a new message. My trigger logic (simplified) Each PLC cycle, in this order: If the request is fully at rest (NOT xExecute AND NOT xBusy AND NOT xDone AND NOT xError) and a read is pending, I set xExecute := TRUE. I call clientTcp() then clientRequest(rClient := clientTcp) once each, per cycle. On xDone or xError, I set xExecute := FALSE. I made sure to insert at least one full cycle with xExecute = FALSE (seen by the FB call) before re-triggering, so the falling edge is processed. Questions After a ReplyTimeout (xError = TRUE), what is the exact, correct sequence to re-trigger the same ClientRequest so a new message is actually sent again? Is a full cycle with xExecute = FALSE between two executions mandatory? Is there a known condition where, after ReplyTimeout, the ClientTCP keeps xConnected = TRUE but silently stops sending new requests (e.g. an internal request queue / _udiRequestId that gets out of sync)? udiNumMsgSent freezing at 23 while the FB shows _state = None is what puzzles me. Is the recommended pattern to drop the connection (ClientTCP.xConnect := FALSE for one cycle, then TRUE) on a request error, rather than keeping it alive? The docs state a request error does not close the connection, so I kept it open — but maybe that is the issue here. Could the large uiStartItem (50514) be relevant? It works right after download, so addressing seems correct, but I want to rule it out. Any guidance on the canonical recovery pattern after a request timeout would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi guys, Recently, I am working at the Dynamic I/Os mapping feature in Ecockpit or Codesys v3.5. I have been trying the libraries. However, it looks like it will not work as I wanted. I want to build the PLC which can detect all the I/Os itself and from there, I can do something on these channels. For example, the current setup is one digital input card, one digital output card and one analogue input card. Then, I want to add one more card into the setup e.g. one more digital input. Then, wago screen can detect this and we can assign them to tasks for example to control digital output. May I know is it possible ? Kind regards

I am trying to get data off my PLC that is acquired at high rates (~50k samples/s) so I am storing them in arrays and trying to get the arrays off the PLC. When I attempt to read a ~200k element array through OPC UA the server and runtime crashes (requiring tools -> update linux arm64 -> start runtime). Is there a better way to get highspeed data off? The ACDatalog library seems a bit irritating to use so I would prefer to go through OPC UA.

Reading the file "codesyscontrol.log" I see these logs OPC UA Server Started: Hostname: NTLRPICTRL01, Port: 4840 URL: opc.tcp://NTLRPICTRL01:4840 Loopbackadapter activated. **All available networkadapters are used.** Multithreading activated. 3 workers used. My controller, which is a Linux PC, has got two network cards eth0 and eth1 I whant to use the card with name "eth0" as a server for OPCUA and keep the "eth1" free for other stuffs. Is it possible ? It usually requires a power cycle or even a full firmware flash. Your issue might have more to do with the timing. I don't know if it helps you, but we normally run our visu task at 200mS, with an update rate of 200mS. Seems to work. I went through this: https://faq.codesys.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=112525371 but it really seems like trial and error.

Looking at the SDOs I´ve seen that for each PDO there is a "Disable PDO" SDO that does not exist in the manual or in the EDS file of the drives. This "Disable PDO" signal has the same Index and Subindex as another SDO used to set and enable the COB-ID of the PDO. I´m assuming this is normal but why is Codesys creating a "Disable PDO" SDO for each PDO and could that be the reason the PDOs are not working?

Hi, I have a Linux 64Bit system with a Codesys application running on it. It stops after 2hours and a few minutes, which makes me think something is wrong with the installed license. (in my last timing it stopped after 2h4min, on the codesys website it is stated that runtimes without a license stop after 2h) I installed the license via a USB license dongle that I activated on my workstation with the Codesys IDE a while ago. Now the system is shipped at not accessible physically, only remotely via SSH. So is there a way to check the status of the License of the Codesys runtime when it is running on the system? And yet, its useless as the ProcessAlarms Function can't extract anything from the empty array. I dont understand how these arrays are supposed to be populated and why its not working. Or am I misunderstanding the way the library communicates with the drive?

Finally, I had to connect the reset bit of the ControlWord directly to a tag in my program. Something I never had to do on other drives: Lexium, etc. all reset simply with MC_Reset.

These scripts call for certain test drivers that are not present in my installation. It’s unclear whether the absence is due to the 64-bit system, an update in the test drivers, or if I need to enable or install additional elements. For instance, the loadproject(Codesys.Base) command is missing, but loadproject(testmanager.project) is available. The FileIO command for CODESYS isn’t accessible, yet the testmanager’s driver for it exists, as does the execuptscript command.

To search for an exact phrase, put it in quotes. Example: "getting started docs"
To exclude a word or phrase, put a dash in front of it. Example: docs -help
To search on specific fields, use these field names instead of a general text search. You can group with AND or OR.
