We are working on a project and the customer required 3.5.16 BF4. After working on the project for a few weeks I opened it the next morning and it could not access libraries. IecVarAccess could not be accessed. I checked if windows updated - it did not. So no explanation for why it lost access other than that I shut down the computer for the night. Note that I am using a demo license. I still haven't figured out any reason to purchase a license. So I spent the next hour reinstalling CodeSys. Note that I did NOT uninstall first. After install I waited another 5 minutes for it to open the first time. I clicked File->Open to open the project. Previously I had selected File->Recent Projects - not sure if that makes and difference. But after this process it did open the project and compile it just fine. This is miserable. If this had happened when I went on site to a customer I would have lost hours of work doing the reinstall. Is there a different and quicker fix?

Is there a way that I can create a variable in a GVL that I can control with logic but a user can not put a force on this variable. I have looked at the access rights but this seems to only limit editing the GVL or POU. This variable will only be assigned a value in one POU but it will be used throughout many other POUs.

I am deploying a webvisu on Codesys 3.5 SP 19.2 with legacy user management. I noticed that when a user logs in, some text and a rectangle I have (for aesthetics) both disappear. I made sure that none of the objects in question are linked to a state variable. Anyone know the cause/solution to this? Nothing crucial to the machine's function is lost, but it is a little annoying.

When online with the program I can see the button and rung going true for the move instruction, yet it does not change. Forcing the bit in the program does change the value in Groov View. I am kind of at a loss here, especially since the other POU(For the pumps) does the same thing fine.

The RTE will take the RTE license. The HMI will take the HMI license. For the Application Based Licenses, the Runtime will take the smallest which is required. So if you have an application running EtherCAT and no visualization, only the Control with support for EtherCAT is used. If you have another runtime which requires the visualization, it will take the smallest Control license which is required and available + the smallest visualization license which is required.

Hi, thanks for the link. Maybe I create elements in incorrect way. I always use Interface Editor to create variables which are used inside element (see pics). After that I place element in my visu and use Reference property to link variable or set the value. In that case the value of string is not transferred to general text list for translation as I mentioned before. Do I have to all properties which influence behavior of my element create in Frame configuration instead? What´s the difference to the Interface editor? Thanks a lot. M.

I have a Python program that will handle things in my application such as VISA over IP and Telnet control of instruments. I want the main control and HMI in Codesys. My problem is communication between the two. I have looked at several ways to accomplish this, and settled on having the Python program create two named pipes, one to send information to Codesys, and one for Codesys to send information to Python. The information would be packetized with \n for end of packet.. Seems simple. I think the named pipes method should work, but file reading in Codesys using the CAA file library starts to get difficult when the file is never ending, as in this case. Before I spend too much time making something that may be fundamentally flawed I want to ask. Is there a better way? Is there a way to read the file 'one line at a time' which might solve my never ending file problem? Thanks!

Thanks for your responses. The close listener sounds like an interesting approach, will have to see what I can do with it. I actually solved it as suggested by sturmghost by setting an enum variable to a certain state as soon as I open a dialog. This way I always know which dialog was opened last.

I have tried downgrading and it seems fine now. I am now on version 4.3.0.0 for the library. Mainly the PN controller caused the issue for me. Funny weird is that even the PN controller versions 4.3.1.0 and 4.3.0.0 cause the error. Version 4.2.0.0 works fine.

I installed CodeSys V3.5 SP9 for HY-eVision2 1.18.0.0 and activated the License Keys for SVN and noticed that the "SVN" doesn't pop up when i go on Menu - Project. For some reason the SVN works on CodeSys SP10. I already deinstalled all CodeSys Applications and installed them again but it's the same. Maybe the problem already occurred and someone could help me.

Hi, I am looking for exactly the same thing. I would think that using a layer 2/3 managed switch should work but I am not convinced. I would like to test it in order to see if it would be possible to run many Codesys Docker instances on a server and run only 1 ethernet cable from the server to a managed switch closer to the machines beeing controlled instead of having to run multiple long ethernet cables. I was going to buy a managed switch in order to test it but I want to first make sure it is possible and I want to figure out exactly what kind of switch I would need. Is this even possible? I think this is a feature that would be very useful paired with "Codesys Virtual Control SL". Thank you

Good afternoon, After changing the security settings to: CommunicationPolicy: POLICY_BASICSHA256SHA256 CommunicationMode: ALL Activation: Activated UserAuthentication: ENABLED Then generate a new certificate on the device for the OPC-UA server from Security Agent->Device->OPC UA Server. Restart the runtime using tools->Update Raspberry Pi->Stop->Start for the changes to take effect. It may take a minute for the runtime to start. Initiate the connection from the UA server side. You should see a pop-up asking you to trust the certificate. Click on the button 'Trust Server Certificate'. Next, you should see a certificate in the quarantined folder of the security agent in CODESYS. Click and drag this from quarantined to trusted and then try connecting from UA expert to the device. These steps worked for me and my setup and I hope they can help you!

Dear folks, I think I have a rather simple question but I could not find the right answer to my question: I have made with Excel a CSV file where I would like to have some general data regarding my program variables. I have made an program what let me read the file. The string I am currently get is at follows: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R$NPort_number;2000$R$NCycle_time;43$R$NStart_Standard_IO;20$R$N' Now I want to split the string in multiple part, which I later would connect to the right variable. By Google and experimenting I have reached to the following code for the first part of the splitting proces: // Splitting the BOM of the string: Received_string := FileReadString; IF LEFT(STR:=New_string,3)= '' THEN Received_string_without_BOM :=RIGHT(STR:= Received_string,SIZE:= (LEN(STR:= Received_string))-3); END_IF //Splitting the remaining string in part for later declaration. I understand that the Find() function returns the first value the $R$N in the Received_string_without_BOM. I expected that the outcome the following was: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$'. However the outcome is: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R'. I do not understand where the R after the $ sign comes from, because its place is 24 so it would not be added to the part_of the_string[index]. If I hard coded value 24 for the size it gives me the following return: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R$N'. I would expect everything till the R but the code adds the $N also to the string. Hello everyone, I hope you can help me with my problem. I am new to programming and am currently working with a WAGO controller in our lab, which controls a heat pump. My goal is to send the electrical power of the heat pump (Pel_WP) via a UDP connection to a specific IP address. I am using Codesys version 2.3 and following the guide I found here: https://forge.codesys.com/forum/de/396/genmed-Konfiguration%20der%20UDP%20Kommunikation%20Cosesys%20S7.pdf. I have adapted the guide to suit my needs. The data sending works since I can force the reception value Pel_WP and the data is sent accordingly. However, I am having trouble with the receiving part. The reception value is not being correctly received, and the diSocket variable shows -1. The connection between the heat pump and the WAGO controller seems to be set up correctly, as the heat pump is listed under the communication parameters with the correct IP address. I have also attached images to provide a better view of the setup. I would greatly appreciate any support or suggestions for a solution. Thank you in advance!
